The sun surrounded by fall foliage is a sight you can only see in autumn when leaves change colours and fall to the ground creating a pockets of holes like this. . Happy Halloween! Do you have any more candy left to hand out or did you eat them all?🍬 . Case Study: Waterfront Toronto
Part of the waterfront revitalisation in Toronto, Canada, Underpass Park "transformed derelict and unused space beneath a series of overpasses into a unique community park" (WATERFRONTToronto, n.d.). The innovative use of public art, and the addition of a playground, skate park, and basketball half-courts helped to transform the space into a vibrant community asset (WATERFRONTToronto, n.d.).
This park utilised a number of placemaking strategies, including using art to draw people into and through the space. A strong emphasis on safety was also considered throughout the design process, and the park is lit with LED lighting, in-ground and in-wall lights, and diffuse spotlights (WATERFRONTToronto, n.d.). The emphasis on safety ensures that the community utilises the space at all times of day.

2013 Tall Ships Festival in Toronto
My Dad and I did a quick walk through of the Toronto Waterfront Tall Ships Festival. It was interesting with carts and period equipment about. We didn't stay too long or get our picture taken with pirates as there was some pretty heavy rain.

In 2004, the Ontario College of Art and Design opened the Sharp Centre for Design for students and faculty, as well as for the general public to see the next revolution in Toronto's youthful and eclectic architectural style.
I still remember the fresh paint, polished concrete floors, and recycled carpeting. At the time, it was considered revolutionary for providing an expansion to a growing college of art and design in a very dense neighbourhood setting. The 'stilts' that hold up two levels of classrooms, studios, and offices were conceived to alleviate the concern of blocking the view of the Grange and towards Spadina and West Toronto from the residents of the nearby Village by the Grange.
Within the next decade, Toronto experienced a mixture of glass+steel renaissance; architects and designers have moulded and developed spaces into towering sculptures of condominiums, office buildings, and institutions with a theme of openness, sustainability, and humanist principles. Without divulging deeper into this phenomenon, I would like to point out how Toronto is turning into a model city – demonstrated by the buildings in which we all live, learn, work, and play.
The best example is the George Brown George Brown Waterfront Health Sciences Campus, and I quote:
"From afar, it glows. Its walls seem transparent. It doesn’t hide its open spaces. It’s intended to be welcoming, collaborative, inclusive."
