My hopes for Spider-man’s 4th MCU movie.
Tumblr media
I don’t think we’ve seen anything about Spiderman 4th MCU movie, But I think it will be out next year. I think they don’t want to film it while Tom Holland doesn’t look young enough to be in College. But what will the film be like? I hold out hope that it would be like this.
Peter has his money matters sorted for now since we already seen Spider-man stories where they aren’t. But Spiderman needs a bit more cash for things in the futrue like the next years of college. Then Spiderman sees on the news that Mysterio had returned. And has allied with a businessman played by Michael Zegen. You’ll see why later. Peter also see’s Beck’s crew. He decides to investigate them in secret, And’s that’s where he’ll get that cash from. Throughout the film, We gave Spider-man as a more classic peter parker. A guy who now has family, Goes to Collage, And takes pictures all over New York for the Daily Bugle to use to get the money he lives on. Unlike Spider-man 2, his roles as Peter and Spider-man are balanced and not negatively effecting each other due to Peter multitasking. He’s not exactly late for things this time, And it’s thanks to this very method. Something Otto did when he was Spider-man in the comics. I think that’s something that best happen since we have seen so much of the opposite already as well. Why keep doing it? Anyway, Curt Corners is in this film and one of Peter’s teachers again. Although Peters dosnt want the Pfizer or minds it, Curt and other teachers are amazed of how good his grades are. This is something about Peter can stay the same. Peter’s gifted, So he’s a goddamn genius. Peter however tries to not make any friends and keep his relationships processional. He doesn’t want to bring anyone into his world, same as why he didn’t try to make Ned and MJ remember him again. And the College is Horizon, Which is a nod to that Spider-man cartoon with really good character designs. And we have seen too much Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacy. They don’t know Peter but are interested in him due to him having no family but good grades which they’re impressed by. Peter however knows them well even before looking at them. This is because his variants told him about them. So Peter knows his own Gwen and Harry, But through others. We also see Peter at the Daily Bugle where he turns in the pictures he took to earn his pay. Jamison is just like how he was back in the Raimi films for fan service. We also see Peter interact with other Daily Bugle people such as Betty from the high School news back in the Home trilogy And Robbie Robertson. And most importantly, We see him trying to help people as a Spider-man. While the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy handle matters that effect the world and the universe, Spider-man is there for the street level people. Trying to resolve street level problems. We get scene after scene of him helping people and turning in crooks. This film is where Spider-man slowly proves he’s not what Mysterio says he is. Through out the film,
Kraven is also in this film and might be played by the same guy how played him in his solo film. I thought if that filmed sucked, This sort of Kraven should get a second chance now that he can be the main antagonist of a Spider-man film. Spider-man is watched and stalked by Kraven wearing the outfit he had in the 2003 3D Spider-man cartoon. Spider-man notices and Kraven attacks him, Because although Spider-man dodged his legal troubles thanks to Daredevil, People still believe in Mysterio. So a huge bounty is placed on Spider-man’s head. Spider-man escapes his assault, But Kraven is not yet defeated. Not yet anyway.
Mysterio also fights some CGI monsters, But Peter’s sure it not what it’s seems. He investigates where the CGI battles took place, Hopeing to find the hologram droins. They weren’t there. Peter’s sad about that, But doesn’t give up. He however finds some other clue instead. The buildings that got wrecked in the Mysterio fights were of rival companies to that of the Michael Zegen businessman. The people who die in the crossfire, People the Michael Zegen businessman was competing with. This give Peter the idea to go to his company and check it out. He looks around as Peter Parker, And even sneaks around. He did that sort of thing in his PS4 game, And it’s how he exposed Mr Negative. He pulls it of in this pitch as well. Peter finds evidence that Beck staged Mysterio, That the things he said in Far from Home are lies, And that the Michael Zegen businessman gave them shelter and resources for 1 of the crew to be Mysterio in exchange for Mysterio’s CGI battles to take place near the Michael Zegen businessman’s rivals and their businesses so that his can come out on top. This is why I want this guy to be played by Michael Zegen. He was not in the Batman film, but the Penguin spin-off. But by the time we’d meet him, He was killed off right way. I thought he deserved a second chance to play a City Elite who is corrupt enough to be a secondary villain in a superhero movie. Anyway, Peter brings this to Jamison, Betty Brant, and Robbie Robertson. Peter says he wants to do the right thing and relays this info to the public. He also admits he wants the reward money from the expose to solve his core matters. Jamison says he doesn’t want to because he and Mysterio are on the same side due to Jamison being “Anti Spider-man”. But because exposing truths like that is something a news company should do, Hell do it anyway. And peter still gets that reward money because it was his discovery. Peter thanks JJJ and they shake hands. So peters future matters are covered and Mysterio is finally fully exposed to the world. And we see many people react to finally facing the truth. Sad that they lost, Mystrio and the Michael Zegen businessman wreck havoc on new York. But Spider-Man goes about helping people out of dangerous situations as he always does. It’s like at the start of Legendary battle at the end of Super Megaforce. With that done, Spider-man comes face to face with Mysterio. Mysterio tries to fight, But Spider-man uses his spider-since to find the drones and take out the illusions even sooner than last time. Spider-man says he did that because he doesn’t just want to talk to the guy in the Mysterio suit, But the rest of Becks team as well. Now that he’s with them all, He tells the crew they disgusted him. Not just because of what they put him through, But because they killed so many people and spread devastation, And even more people and spread even more devastation. And they made lies about it both times. The whole crew say why they went through with Quentin Beck’s plans, Saying they wanted glory for their hard work and they thought it was unfair that Ironman did, But they didn’t. Peter says Ironman wasn’t that bad and that there’s no excuse for that shit. And he webs the whole team Including Mysterio. Spider-man takes off the Mysterio mask which reveals Beck did die as the body was recovered back in Far from Home by the authorities, But the equipment Was taken before they got there. The Michael Zegen businessman shows up and says Peter Parker (Who no one knows is Spider-man now) also disgusted him due to him ruining his plans. Spider-man says that’s not something to hate someone for because it was the right thing to do. Then the police show up to arrest the Michael Zegen businessman for helping mass murderers who also scam the whole Earth escape justice so that they kill his opponents for him. And like Cesare Borgia before him, the Michael Zegen businessman complains about it as they do it. And the the Michael Zegen businessman, Mysterio and the rest of Beck’s crew is taken to jail like the villains they are.
Also through out the film, we see other characters do their own thing. We see Normal tries to be as active as much as he can in his political career, And his son Harry try to live up to how high in class his father is. It’s clear that the MCU Spider-man movies are not the kids movie they used to be anymore. The character driven stories like in the old comics. We don’t just see Spider-man’s story, But stories of those he’s with as Peter Parker as well. Anyway, Harry’s sad because he thinks he’s not living up to his father’s image due to not being able to do anything about the years long Mysterio thing. Gwen comes in as is crying and Harry asks what’s wrong. Gwen however asks why Harry’s sad. Harry says he thinks he’s not living up to his father’s standard. Gwen says he seems to have succeeded because he’s such an amazing guy. Harry asks again why Gwen’s sad. But before Harry gets an answer, Kraven shows up. He says he’s here for Normal because he’s the Mayor of New York. since he’s not here, These 2 will have to do. He beats them up and takes them while theyre knocked out. Kraven also brutally kills several police to get away. More on that later. Norman meets up with Peter looking for Harry Because of it. He knows Kraven took em, And asks if Peter has any idea where he took em. With this encounter, Peter learns about his own Norman, And that he’s different to the Normal he knew in No way Home. He didn’t start up Oscorp, But instead got into politics. And he didn’t not start it well enough to be New York’s mayor. We then see on the news that Kraven has taken Harry and Gwen hostage and demands Spider-man to face him. Spider-Man suits up and swings off, To stop Kraven and save his Collage classmates. When Peter faces Kraven, He tells Spider-man to catch. He throws Harry off the building for the sake of killing him, But Spider-man catch’s him. Kraven tries again with Gwen, But Peter also catch’s her as well. This final battle is intended as he trying to fight Kraven while trying to make sure Harry and Gwen are ok. Standard Spider-man stuff for a final battle. Once Harry and Gwen are safely with the police, Spider-man asks Kraven why he’s doing this. Kraven says he’s sad because of Spider-Man putting sending those guys from No way Home on hold so he can make sure it doesn’t kill them first. This made his frustration of so many things he wish he could do something about but can’t even worse. America and France's hostility at Wakanda over vibranium, S.W.O.R.D doing that thing with Vision even though it was wrong and pushed Wanda to do that other thing in Westview, Damage Control going too far as we saw in Mis Marvel. He got so emotionally mad that he got the Hunting gig. He thinks mass murder is his best option because there so much chaos these days. And now he wants to kills Spider-Man because he avoids people dying, Even if it’s hard and even puts more at risk. He wants his methods to beat out its opacity which is Spider-man’s it not about money to Kraven, But ideology. This is why Kraven would make a great main villain for a Spider-man movie. He does what Spider-man refused to do in his 3rd MCU movie and resort to cruel and violent methods to succeed. But in doing so, He got on that trend and even resorted to killing police so that he could steal human beings, So that he could use em to draw out Spider-man. This is why Spider-man was in the right to risk his reality to save the Villains from alternate universes. If you don’t follow the rules of how far you go to win, You do bad as well as good. And that bad effects others in a bad way. So Spider-Man was right to avoid killing people like Batman, And Spider-man and Kraven have their final battle. Although Kraven puts up a good fight, Spider-man takes him out And turns him in. Gwen’s family including Captain Stacy come to check on Harry and Gwen. They tell them they’re ok. But Gwen says she’s still mad about Captain Stacey's decision and that the rest of the family don't be hostile at him about it. So Gwen tells her family to fuck off and leaves.
We then see the people finally see that Mysterio is a fraud and that they wrongfully turned on Spider-man, Mostly on the news. And now for the epilogue. Peter, Normal, Harry and Gwen talk about the past events in the Osborn's home. Harry tells his dad he is sorry he worried him, But Normal says it wasn’t his fault but Kraven's. Harry asks why Gwen told her family to fuck off. Gwen says that it's because like Kraven, Captain Stacy was also emotionally affected by the government issues we seen in the MCU. So Captain Stacy got sucked into JJJ's Spider-hate because he likes the idea of killing criminals. Gwen not only hates her father for being tempted to brake moral rules, But her family too for not having a problem with him for it. So she moves out. Gwen cries about it, But Harry comforts her. Normal points out that JJJ and Captain Stacy are investing in something called project hope, And that Mac Gargen has something to do with it because they're having him paroled from prison. Normal thanks Peter for being there for Gwen and Harry after the Kraven thing and the 2 shake hands. Peter is happy as he not only won in the end, But his Normal is not a villain like the Norman he met. He may be an ambitious and prideful politician, But harmless for now. When Peter gets out of the building, He changes into his Spider-man outfit and remembers May which makes this ending emotional a bit. He says to himself she'd be happy to see how things turned out and does his final swing like he does in most Spider-man movies.
The post credits screen is like that TV interview in Skaylanders Academy season 2. Jamison is interviewing Doctor Strange, James Rhodes as Ironman, Captain America, Ant-man, Wasp, White Vision and She-Hulk. Yes, The Avengers are the Skylanders of this scenerio. Jamisons asks how they're taking the news about the truth about Mysterio, And they reply saying they find what Beck's crew did despicable and feels sorry for Spider-man being put through all that. JJJ admits that he doesn't. They ask JJJ why he's hostile to Spider-man even before and after Mysterio. JJJ says it's because Spiderman avoids killing people which JJJ and others find a better solution to villains running amuck. JJJ says they killed from time to time. So what's wrong with that. The avengers counter saying murder isn't the best option and hope they won't have to in the future. JJJ says many police are fans of him and are doing something called Project Hope. JJJ says Project hope is named that because it’s the police making their own Superhero to kill Spider-man and that he's sent by the police makes him a hero like each of the Avengers themselves. The Avengers doubt it because it's killing someone just for hate and not necessity. JJJ asks why don't they just meet Project Hope so they can be sure, And Project Hope shows at the interview which reveals it's Mac Gargan as the Scorpion. The Avengers are not at all scared of him but are horrified, that the police let a murderer out of prison and gave him superpowers.
The End credits scene is Peter watching that interview and saying "WHAT THE FUCK?!? but this time, We see it fully. It's because like the avengers, He too is horrified about the Scorpion. It's understandable too. The police got sucked into someone's hate talk, And it got them to release a criminal who even killed some people and maybe other cops. And they even gave him superpowers. Oh boy. This will not end well for them.
Ok. That was what I hope the 4th MCU Spider-man movie will be. I hope the real film is just like that or at least similar due to having the same outcomes in plot. If you’re a Spider-man fan, I say this. What do you think?

Hey everyone!!!! I have a request.
Can anyone pls tell me if there's a Raimi's Parksborn fanfic where everything is exactly the same except that Harry and Peter are dating, like Harry is Peter's love interest???
I would pretty much like to know if there's one, if not maybe someone could write it, I'm not very good at writing but I have a few ideas if anyone wants to write the fic.
Like the events of the 3 movies are ALL the same but without MJ being Peter's love interest (Maybe there could still be a small love triangle and I'll touch that in a moment), like Harry and Peter are dating since the beginning of the 1st movie but Peter never tells Harry he's Spiderman, at the Thanksgiving dinner at Pete and Harry's place Harry instead of presenting MJ as his girlfriend he presents Pete as his boyfriend, and just like in the movie at that same dinner Norman finds out Pete is Spiderman and the fight Harry and Norman have about MJ being with Harry for his money (that let's be fucking for real for a moment, we all know that's true) is Norman saying the same thing about Peter and maybe throwing homophobic comments here and there, when the goblin captures MJ because is the person Peter loves the most he captures his own son instead, and while the whole fight that leads to Norman's dead happens Harry goes back home with his father like maybe to tell him that he's fine or something and that's when he sees Spiderman with his dad's body and that's where the whole angst begins. Because hey, if we're making the movies all the same except for Harry being Peter's love interest instead of MJ, then when and how did the rain kiss happened? Easy, it was between Harry and Spiderman, because just like MJ, after being saved by Spiderman twice Harry starts having a crush with Spiderman and he gives him a kiss to thank him, is a quick kiss so Harry can't identify anything familiar from it, but he leaves it at that, just a crush, because he has the love of his life waiting for him at home and he makes it very clear to Spiderman, and unlike MJ he doesn't share his crush with Spiderman with Peter, but that crush easily dies just like his father because he thinks Spiderman killed him, and that just makes everything that happens in the 2nd and 3rd movie angst at its maximum expression.
By the beginning of the 2nd movie Pete and Harry are still dating but their relationship had never been more at risk, like for start they had to stop living together and had to move to different places apart from each other and that wasn't easy for any one, Harry told Peter that he could go and live with him at the Osborn mansion but Peter didn't accept the offer because the obsession that Harry had with Spiderman was just unbearable for him (the fact that this is actually canon) and that's the other and the most principal problem, the no so subtle comments Harry made like:
Peter: Sorry I'm late I was very busy.
Harry: Oh yeah, busy taking pictures of your friend, how's the spider doing?
Or
Harry: I want you to be honest with me Peter, if you knew who he was you would tell me right?
It just makes the fight Harry and Peter had at the first half of the movie more painful, because Harry feels betrayed not just by his best friend, or for his unrequited love, nah he's been betrayed by his GOD DAMN BOYFRIEND!!!!! Like the scene is just the same and dialogue is the same too just by small changes like using the worlds love, lover, boyfriend, etc and omitting the "you stole MJ from me", let me give you an example (sorry if I'm not quoting the scene exactly I watched the movie in Spanish so I only know few lines in English)
Harry: You know what pisses me off!? You're loyalty to Spiderman and not your own boyfriend, I found him with my father's body and you defend him because he's your breath and butter.
Peter: Harry calm down.
Harry: Don't punch me!!! How can you call yourself my lover? You stole my father's love from me, you let him die, you didn't give the spider away to the authorities. *Slap* Did you!? *Slap* Uh? My love!?
And I know how we all say that that scene is basically their break up but in this case it actually is, that's the ending of their relationship, they broke up and they stayed like that for the rest of the second movie and the third movie. I mean like whoever write this I'm sure they will make this scene the most painful scene of the fic with the most painful and heartbreaking narration, along of course with Harry finding out Pete is Spiderman and has the discussion with his father's ghost about his internal conflict and also of course Harry's dead scene. And that's exactly where I'm going. Maybe after that the rest of the 2nd movie is the same and ends with Peter and MJ giving each other a chance.
In the beginning of the third movie it all goes exactly the same, Pete and MJ are going serious with their relationship and Peter is planning to propose to MJ but then Harry's memory lose happens and Harry believes he is still dating Peter, which causes a big internal conflict in Pete and he doesn't know what to do and also Pete is going through all this shit of the real killer of my uncle and the symbiote emo phase, so you see, in the scene where Harry and MJ are cooking in his house and ended up kissing, instead of Harry and MJ is Harry and Peter, Peter runs away just like MJ did crying because he's feeling guilty, that of course confuses Harry and he is feeling terrible and ends up having this crisis that gave him his memory back, then just like in the movie Harry goes with MJ and makes her do this whole I'm in love with someone else show to Peter. Then the fight happens and while Harry and Peter are fighting they start saying horrible things to each other so awful things that an "I never loved you" is a sweet kiss in comparison closing of course with Harry getting half of his face with a terrible scar and blind on one eye. Then everything goes exactly the same until is time for the most angst moment in the history of angst, Harry's dead, and the final words they both said to each other were "I love you". Or look, if so much angst is a lot for the person that decided to write this, an ending where Harry survives and him and Peter live happily ever after is great too.
So yeah those are my ideas, I know, I really gave it too much thought, it took me 5 days to finally finish writing this, so I really hope someone takes a little something from this and I would love if you could let me know if someone does. I think the best way to do that is giving credits but if not I also don't mind I just want to know if a fanfic like that exists.

My Favorite Youtubers
I have been watching a lot of Youtubers lately, so here’s a list that no one asked for with my current favorite Youtubers.
Dylan Is In Trouble: Dylan is just so funny, so charismatic and so smart! His content is gold, his personality is amazing, he always has something interesting to say and he makes me laugh a lot.
Cinema Therapy: I started watching their videos because the concept was so interesting, and I learn a lot about both psychology and cinema with their commentary. Plus, John and Alan are great friends so their interactions are always fun and they’re delightful.
CinemaWins: The exact opposite of CinemaSins, which is right what I wanted. Rather than nitpicks and hate, I enjoy this so much more, all this love for the characters, the details and the cinematography. I love finding new stuff to love about movies I already adore.
Dan and Phil: I miss their joined content so much, especially DanAndPhiGames, but I had been watching their videos for years and I still very much enjoy Phil’s content when he uploads. I just miss Dan’s chaotic nature, even if Phil can be super chaotic too. They just feel like really nice guys with great humor and their videos are so enjoyable.
Hello Future Me: I think Tim is just a cool person, but I also really adore his videos so much, they’re so good! As a writer, this channel is like a gold mine, because I have learned so much about characters, worldbuilding and writing in general thanks to him.
HiTop Films: Lately I’ve been really into video essays, and this is one of my favorite channels out of the ones I’ve found recently. I started watching Alex because of his Raimi Spiderman video, but then I watched others and realized he always speaks with the honesty and genuine passion, which is just contagious. Shoutout to Loverboy Media because his channel is very similar to this and I also enjoy it a lot.
Robbie Daymond: These vlogs are one of my favorite things in the world, and Robbie, Ray and Max are three of my favorite people. I have a huge crush on Max (loml) but the three are some of the funniest, sweetest and most amazing people. I literally look forward to every Wednesday so I can catch them on Twitch playing Fall Guys and being goofs together, because they make me smile, laugh and cheer me up even on my worst days.
Cosmonaut Variety Hour: I think the first video I watched of Marcus was the Marvel ranking one, and from then on I saw he had a lot of content for movies and shows I enjoy and I find his opinions really interesting, plus, his laugh gives me serotonin.
The Hillywood Show: Last but definitely not least, these super talented girls. I have posted about them sometimes because their videos are so amazing! They make parodies of shows and movies, but they get every single detail right, exactly like in the original, and they have such love for the original content that the videos shine with that passion on top of being fun and entertaining. They saddly can’t post too often because their parodies take a really long time to make, but the wait is always so worh it, even for things I haven’t even watched!
Honorable mentions: Smosh (especially unscripted content), Markiplier, CrankgamePlays, Ryan Higa, Team Edge, Captain Mightnight, Mr. Sunday Movies,..

ive been compulsively watching the raimi spiderman movies lately as a symptom of profound mental illness and a twisted pathology, and they feel SO nostalgic but i couldnt put a finger to why bc the first time i saw one was spiderman 3 when i was like, 20
and it just hit me i think it might be specifically bc. when i was a kid i had a neighbor my age who loved spiderman, and we would like run around in the woods hitting each other with sticks, wrestling, etc etc. that kind of thing. and anyway one day for some reason i crawled head first into a box and had him shove me down a flight of stairs. obviously hit my fucking head and was injured and like, his mom carried me to his bunk bed to lie down and i just remember lying there on the bottom bunk miserably looking at a spiderman 2 movie poster he had taped to the underside of the top bunk til my parents got me and took me to the doctor. i just stared at spiderman and i think thats literally it

Now that I've finally recovered from covid, I was able to redeem my cancelled ticket and go see the new Doctor Strange movie.
Honestly, this movie exceeded my expectations. Now to be fair, I wasn't expecting all that much from reading the reviews, but it definitely was a pleasant surprise.
This being said, the CGI in the opening scenes was suuuuper sketch. And I know I'm not the only one to comment on this, but it's obvious the Marvel is really pushing the limits in what can be done in VFX in a short amount of time, and it shows. (Moon Knight, which I enjoyed on the whole, also suffered from this). I'm guessing those opening scenes were ones they had to reshoot later in the process, as the effects were pretty on point for the rest of the film.
Sam Raimi has a very specific style that we haven't really seen in the MCU yet. I really loved it. Two scenes that stood out was the semi-late 80s/early 90s Microsoft screensaver montage with Wanda as she was trying to dreamwalk (it was SO like, 1992 I had to cackle). But the scene that was 1000% gorgeous in terms of its cinematography was the one with Xavier inside Wanda's mind. That was A+++.
I disliked every singly scene in the Kamar-Taj. The setting just irks me. The trope is extremely overplayed.
Now here's what was good - Mordo and Strange having an honest-to-gods fistfight. So refreshing.
Elizabeth Olsen was really, really good in her role, especially as a villain. (My only real complaint is that the Darkhold, in this timeline, seems a little deus ex. In Agents of Shield, its introduction and corrupting influence felt a lot more organic).
"Are you happy, Stephen?" Really fascinating theme about what makes Strange tick - and it's not necessarily good. (Christine's comment about holding the knife isn't too far off point).
How did I almost miss Bruce Campbell's cameo??? I'm embarrassed for myself, I watched so much Xena and Hercules back in the day...
Music fight was pretty cool, Beethoven 5 versus Bach Toccata and Fugue.
Strange is just collecting wayward teenagers as his phase 4 thing.
Speaking of teens, I really liked America Chavez's character.
The thing is...Marvel seems almost...allergic to creating character study pieces. There always has to be some fight or big boss or world ending plan or whatever. They have so many supremely talented actors who really lure you in with their storylines and (this is especially true for the more cosmic stuff), it just gets kind interrupted before going "too far" in the quiet moments. The quiet moments are what have made these films and series so far. Let them marinate a bit more.
Okay, so the plot had some swiss cheese elements to it. Evil (and good) magic books and sudden rules about possessing corpses, and sudden abilities to transverse the multiverse (I have the feeling we are all going to be really sick of the multiverse in another 6 months).
Underrated moment was Strange 836 (whatever the number was) getting executed. Big yikes.
Overall entertaining, some great character moments interspersed with the usual Marvel stuff (who was that blonde woman in the credit scene?) 7.5/10, better than the most recent Spiderman movie, for sure.

Thoughts now that I could watch Doctor Strange: MoM again.
Spoiler warning.
If it was established that Wanda had chosen a universe where the boys were orphaned, she would have the veneer of having good reasons and we would have gotten pay off of the "mom, help!" close of WandaVision. Maybe a war-torn universe that referenced the chaos mentioned by The One Who Remains from Loki, helping tie in/pay off some of that series in a small way.
I love that the staff from the London branch worked a tartan into their sorcerer robes.
I'm not sure when this falls in relation to Hawkeye and Spiderman NWH. Hawkeye was at Xmas 2024, Spiderman was May 2024(? That was immediately after FFH right? Was FFH still 2023?) because they're graduating, and this is what? Late summer, early fall? Jackets are worn throughout NYC but weather is good. But apples are still flowering so maybe spring 2025? Why are the suits staying away after the attack? Is it the same-ish time as Ms. Marvel so the suits are busy with her?
Was the red hellscape Stephen finds Wanda at the illusion or the orchard? If it was the orchard where did Wanda find a red hued hellscape with red atmosphere that skewed where the sun was? Is it the forest she was hiding in at the end of WandaVision and her study of the Darkhold did that?
Was the trapped Wanda in dream actually the possessed Wanda or a trap/illusion to catch Charles? The sudden appearance and disappearance could go either way.
Wong's robes until now have been his old robes. Did he usually still wear those? Otherwise, why was he wearing them throughout Shang Chi? How does the admin/advisor staff of Khamar Taj let the Sorcerer Supreme wander off to prize fight at an illegal underground club, can you imagine the scandal? If he is the boss, why is he fetching Shang Chi and Katy? And randomly wandering off for drunken karaoke.
Marvel needs to stop doing call backs. Developing what was established is fine, it's good. The insistence on making in-jokes and nudge nudge Easter eggs is now tedious. Carter didn't need the line, America didn't need to say the same thing Stephen had in the first movie, we already had a zombie ep in What If...? (For this matter, the Nat death scene callback in Hawkeye made sense for the characters involved, doing yet another callback for laughs in Ms. Marvel was unnecessary, if it's a reaction to SJ's lawsuit, grow up).
I like Charlize Theron. I don't need her in the MCU. Really, there wasn't someone else? It's like for every risk they take on an unknown in casting they feel the need to compensate with some name-draw superstar. It's the MCU, you don't need to worry about big names.
The closed captioning was aggravating. So much was just skipped and it's annoying. For a series that has now featured two deaf actresses the handling of things to be consumed by deaf and HoH is not good.
This is so distinctly a Sam Raimi film. The only thing missing was a cameo by his brother.

I'm still screaming since the trailer of the new SpiderMan finale was released but i need to say some stuff
As much as I love Tom Holland's SpiderMan, i feel like it's missing something. Things is just so easy for him you know? Don't get me wrong but he is kinda of spoiled by Tony. He gets a suit and all the support and help he need. Which is great but again, it feels like is missing something
One of my fav things about the Sam Raimi trilogy and Tobey's version of the characters is just about how damn relatable he his. I saw a tweet about it that says something like this : "Tobey's Peter Parker was fired from his job because he delivery that pizza late, because he had to save a kid in the way" and is about that you know?
The Peter from the first trilogy was a teen/young man just trying to make it in life just like all of us and he still is the SpiderMan.
Look at MJ, girl wanted to be an artist and met the harsh reality that not everyone make it and she fought her way to the stage. That's so damn relatable too.
I was also re-watching some fight scenes and realized how much I miss this more intimate fight scenes. It's not about saving the world from a galaxy conquer or wherever, is about saving one person, a train. I miss this simplicity. It's fair that the first movie of Tom Holland's version had that too but again, it was more easier for him because he had Tony
And not let me talk about the original score. So fucking epic and awesome
Anyway, that's why the first trilogy is the best for me.
Ps: I didn't comment the Andrew version because i mean...im sorry but it was a flop

26, 29, 30, 36?
*cracks knuckles*Alright, let’s do this.
26: The late Robin Williams & Hayao Miyazaki are two particular people in my life I’ve idolized for what happiness/imagination they’ve brought into others lives. Robin Williams untimely passing still hurts for me to look back on because this man made it his mission to bring so much joy into other peoples lives through his acting on the big screen, whether it was dramatic or comedic. That’s what I found the most impressive about Robin’s range in acting. He could be an over the top funny individual, but Robin’s acting chops were in a league of their own. Whether he was behind the microphone having the time of his life as Genie on Aladdin or giving a powerful dramatic performance on Good Will Hunting as Will’s therapist, I could feel the unconditional kindness. There was something about Robin’s acting power that would usually manage to reel me in. Even if I never knew him in real life, obviously, this man just radiated with so much kindness that I felt from his entire presence on screen. It’s seriously unfortunate what became of Robin Williams in the end with his unexpected death, but his legacy has inspired me to be kinder to others in real life. As for Hayao Miyazaki, this guy is a huge factor in why I got into loving anime related stuff all the more, as his creations in storytelling and the art itself for the movies were beyond unlike anything I still have yet to seen be topped quite frankly. It’s so easy for me to get emotionally lost in his films like My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Castle In The Sky, and Spirited Away. This man never ceases to amaze me with how usually impactful and in depth his films are. They’re so full life that it’s easy to lose sight of whats happening in the actual story at times. Mayazaki understood how to breathe a ton of humanity into creating such resonating works of fiction. Have a much greater appreciation for them in my adult years. There’s a reason why they inspired companies, like Pixar, to create immersive stories of their own.
29: Favorite films range from Zootopia, Wreck It Ralph, M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable, Aladdin (1992), The Secret Of NIMH, The Lion King (1994), The Incredibles, UP, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Finding Nemo, Inside Out, Kung Fu Panda 1 & 2, How To Train Your Dragon Trilogy, Toy Story 1-4, The Great Mouse Detective, Lilo & Stitch, The Emperors New Groove, A Goofy Movie, Good Will Hunting, The Fox And The Hound, The Land Before Time, The Brave Little Toaster, Frozen, Shrek 1 & 2, Coraline, Paranorman, Kubo And The Two Strings, The Muppets (2011), Princess Mononoke, Castle In The Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Spirited Away, Porco Rosso, Summer Wars, Beauty and the Beast (1991), Winnie The Pooh (1977 & 2011 iterations.), The Peanuts Movie, The Princess And The Frog, The Jungle Book (2016), Scooby Doo On Zombie Island, Harry Potters’ 1-7, Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy, Wonder Woman, Sam Raimi’s Spiderman 1 & 2, The Black Panther, Thor & Thor Ragnorok, The Avengers, Avengers Infinity War & Endgame, Spiderman Into the Spiderverse, Captain America Trilogy, Iron Man Trilogy, Star Wars Episodes 4-8, and The Breakfast Club to stop this list from getting any longer. =P
30: Favorite TV shows range from Cowboy Bebop, Avatar The Last Airbender, Yu Yu Hakusho, Digimon Adventure 01 & Tamers, Teen Titans (2003), Batman The Animated Series, Ed, Edd,& Eddy, Samurai Jack, Courage The Cowardly Dog, The Powerpuff Girls (Screw that garbage reboot.), Chowder, Bojack Horseman, DuckTales (1987), DuckTales (2017), Gravity Falls, Code Geass (This series has shaky writing in a number of areas, but that ending was beautiful.), Amphibia, Steven Universe, Oban Star Racers, Made In Abyss, Stranger Things, Gargoyles, My Hero Academia, Naruto (I’ve got a soft spot for this series despite my MANY problems with its story later on.), Pokemon (Serious nostalgia overload!), Dragonball Z (My very first anime series I got into through the Toonami block. A real shocker I know. LOL!), Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, The Promised Neverland, Death Note, Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, Sonic SatAM, Talespin, Darkwing Duck, The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy, Robot Chicken, A Pup Named Scooby Doo, Kim Possible, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Fullmetal Alchemist (2003).
36: My three dream scenarios I’d like to fulfill?
1: Become A Voice Actor
Been interested in voice acting since I was a young teen, but have been in a conflicted state over these recent passing years in my life on whether or not I’d like to approach that route. There’s a lot of commitment I’d have to put into auditioning my butt off for roles I may or not get. Then comes the consistent practicing to keep my vocal chords in shape, so I don’t get rusty whatsoever. The industry for this kind of job can be hard to get recognized in too by how many other notable well known VA’s there are already. Not to mention, from what I’ve researched up on being a voice actor doesn’t bring in the money naturally, as it’s more of a passion job which that’s terrific and all, but if I want to partake in this profession I’ll have to juggle a job along with that which putting all those factors in my head honestly makes me intimidated. Ahhh well, it’s just something I’ll have to wait and see on if I can make that idea into a reality or not. No need to rush myself, of course.
2: Taking Up The Mantle Of Reviewing Shows & Films For A Living
Fiction, just like for many people, has been a great deal of helping me in my life moments of stress, solitude, depression, and anger. I’d love nothing more than to further express that to anyone out there in reviewing in great detail certain films or shows that I’ve come to love over these years in my life so far. Mostly for animation though, as its been a gateway for finding many gems of quality films or series. It never ceases to surprise me on how creative and powerful animation can be with its inventive ways of getting me to become an emotional mess. While I do enjoy live action series and films they pale in comparison to the beauty animation has brought into my life, since my early childhood of watching shows on Cartoon Network, Toon Disney, and Nickelodeon to a smaller degree. I’d like to think I’m good enough with how I present my reasons on why I feel so strongly connected to these stories showcasing characters trying to find hope in their own hard times. I try my hardest to take moments of my own life and find ways to connect it with whatever story I’m getting into next, so it can be all the more a special experience for myself. It’s important to put whatever character resonates with you most in their shoes for why you feel their emotional journey connecting with your own life on every conceivable level possible. That will make it when you write these kinds of reviews a very empowering read for others to feel either heard in their own feelings or simply giving others a new perspective to consider on this piece of fiction you’re discussing. Seeing some of my own particular analytical posts in the past here on Tumblr garner some attention from people gives me a boost of feeling better about potentially making this choice.
3: Starting A Family Of My Own…?
I can’t begin to tell ya how many times I’ve gone back and forth for getting married in the distant future to become a father has sped through my mind. On one hand, it scares the crap out of me to be taking up that big of a responsibility. However, on the other hand its deeply fascinated me emotionally of creating life through love for your significant other in starting your own family tree. I’d love to be able to raise kids of my own to pass on the lessons I’ve learned in life to make them become better people in the distant future, while showering them with unconditional love and affection. That would fill me up with such an indescribable joyous feeling to hear their own dreams and desires on what they want to accomplish in life. While I’d be a strict parent, I wouldn’t be a hard headed one quick to dismiss their own complaints if they had problems with how I handled things, once they start to get older. The kind of parent I’d want to be is an understanding open minded one who doesn’t judge their son or daughter for when they have an issue with me. Just because I’m a parent in that scenario doesn’t put me on a pedestal of immunity from criticism. Granted, I certainly don’t want to be a doormat for them to try taking advantage of either, but it’s also important to not let your parental role go to your head, too.
Although, I don’t plan on even trying to make this last dream of mine happen anytime soon. This is something that is MUCH later down the road that I wish to have happen. However, I won’t lie and say that I haven’t considered just staying content as a single guy for the rest of my life relying on close friends to bring me joy equivalent to this dream. While I adore the concept of creating life through love and being a father, there’s a shit ton of responsibility that comes with it. The life of a parent is not just putting your all into it. You gotta give more than just 100% when wanting to be a parent. It’s a serious test of your spiritual endurance, which I’m not sure is something I’ll ever have the courage to do, but then again things can change in life on the flip of a dime, so I’ll see how this all plays out for myself. Maybe I’ll stay happily single or I’ll happily be raising kids.
Gee, I wonder why this dream of being a parent resurfaced in my head recently this year? Oh yeah, it was thanks to this character here.
Tumblr media
Seriously, Della Duck holds a real special place in my heart for making me feel these kind of feelings yet again. Darn you space mom! LOL.
Thanks for the ask, man.

hozier asks: Be
- Be- Have you changed much as a person in the last year?
it's late. but I wanna do this one 💕💕
yes, I've changed so much to over one year. Tumblr is bad bad bad. but I'd have never realised I'm not straight if it wasn't for Tumblr. they never teach about sexuality in school. how was I supposed to find about this? i learnt about lgbtq+ community on Tumblr. even tho I'm still confused at least I'm not straight. a year back I wasn't a bad person. but I was a bit ignorant about many things. i had an ig acc for my crappy poetries🙊. i used to be super sensitive when someone called me names on internet. but now who tf cares?! if a year back you said im gonna like superhero movies, I'd have punched you in the face right there. I always considered superhero genre childish. i didn't even know wtf is dc and marvel. in 2015 something I watched deadpool, I had no idea what tf was that. then in 2018 I watched tsam 1 and 2 and I loved spiderman. I thot there has to be more spider man movies because I wanted more. I found about homecoming. I was expecting Andrew but instead I got tom holland, I had no idea who he was. watching that was nightmare. I had no clue what was going on. there was some tony stark (first time I found about him ✨) and avengers. I had in my mind that spiderman movies and marvel movies are set in different universe. but this was not the case. however I watched homecoming. I looking for more spiderman movies. I found about raimi trilogy. I was like ok let's watch this. worst experience. I cringed entire time watching the first movie (although I liked green Goblin). I didn't bother to watch next one. i googled about marvel dc movies. found watching order of mcu movies, binged all twenty movies starting from iron man 1 till infinity war in 2 two weeks. first i watched all the trailers, YouTube had this all trailers combined in one. I was most excited for TFA and thor 1. i almost wanted to rush to watch those because I was so impressed by Steve rogers. yeah even I don't know why. I binged all the movies till thor Ragnarok (I loved it). infinity war wasn't out in hd. so I watched the low quality version. i had already seen spoilers for infinity war so I knew spiderman and Loki dies. but holy shit I didn't expect half of the Avengers to be dusted. i always used to see Tumblr screenshots on ig in my hp phase. so I was ok let's do this app. I downloaded I made an account. I didn't know how this works. so I logged out. I watched infinity war again and became so attached to tony stark. ant man and the wasp had just come out. I decided to log back in. first it was harry potter bullshit. then I followed some marvel blogs. an finally figured out how this app works. i started posting incorrect iron dad quotes and some of those blew up 🙊. i watched iron man trilogy again in November. since then I love him the most. and here we are. and after endgame I got tired of mcu and started reading comics. I've this thing I get bored really fast.
sorry I went off.

Ok, I suddenly had this idea. I know most of us are happily done with VLD now but I just had this thing nagging in my mind and I felt compelled to share it. So, most of us agree, that this last season was less than satisfying, particularly in some character development, or just plot threads. However, what if that was deliberate? What if there is one last chapter of this story they need to tell, and it's not in comics?
So, even at the time that I watched it, something struck me as odd about the closing scene. Sure I understood the significance of the Allura shaped Nebula, but it just seemed to have a different tone than everybody else's epilogue shots. And then it hit me, it felt like an after credit scene, and not just any after credit scene, but one that could be hinting at a follow up. Remember not to long ago, when a Voltron movie was discovered to be future project, what if this wasn't meant to be a standalone unrelated, and possibly live action, movie, but is supposed to act as an ultimate finale with a Search for Spock-esque plot? (Which, from what I've heard isn't the best of the Trek movies, but that doesn't have to be a factor here. )
Now, indulge me a bit as I break down what this film could look like. I will warn you in advance, this is going to be incredibly biased and self indulgent, so my story will contain Plance, Kallura and Hunay, but also some discussion about some plot stuff, like Keith's connection to quintessence, what's the deal with the entity, stuff like that. If you like it, cool. If you don't, I can't help you, but maybe instead of telling how much my pretend movie sucks and how much I suck, stuff I am quite aware of, why don't you share your ideal closer movie, with your otps and hcs? I would love to see what you would like to see, so long as it doesn't involve attacking anybody else with differing opinions. And now, this insanity.  Warning it’s reaaaaallllly long.
Edit: Here’s a link to the Next part.
(Note: I wrote the above earlier this morning on the way to church, and the rest below later in the afternoon, and at the moment of writing this note, I’ve been working on this for about two hours, and I am nowhere near finishing it. So I will be finishing this post somewhere around the first act of my goofy pretend movie synopsis (Which is much longer than a synopsis should be because I keep going into more and more details.) and continue this undertaking in a future post or posts, provided this website isn’t shut down. (In which case, find me on Dischord under Dappie.)
I would open this with something I like to call creative recap credits, think Sam Raimi’s Spiderman 2. Once this sequence came to an end it would bleed into an actual scene, our Heroes are gathered together for Allura Day as per usual, just catching up. This is where I would bring the audience up to speed on their character development, and set up some Major and sub-plots. Hunk is gushing about his and Shay’s wedding, but he’s having trouble picking the main cook for the reception (He can’t decide between Romelle’s great instincts and Vrepit Sal’s experience and seniority. This should serve as a comedic subplot, and that’s all I’m going to say about it unless anyone asks for me to expand on it. Honestly, it’s probably something that would wind up scrapped for time.) Hunk is insisting that they better make it there, even if there is a world ending catastrophe. Now from everybody’s response, except Keith we’ll get to him, we get a little more insight into our characters. Shiro is content, but would secretly like to have a little more adventure. Lance seems to be flirtatious again, however his flirtations are focused on a single target. The target in question, Pidge, is receptive, yet hesitant. While this conversation goes down, Keith suddenly looks off in a random direction and asks the others if they hear something. Everybody seems confused, and they tell him that they don’t hear anything. However, Keith is not reassured and declares that something isn’t right. He walks away from the table, with Lance making a quip I’d imagine, and goes in search of the sound, at which point, we also begin to hear what he’s hearing. A woman humming. He as he approaches the humming becomes a little clearer and more familiar. In fact, so familiar that he begins to doubt it’s real. But Lo and behold, he turns that corner and there she is! Allura alive and well. Keith is completely shocked and begins bombarding her with questions, but she just keeps humming, as if she can’t hear him. This raises some red flags within him, and he cautiously asks again. “Allura, it is you, right?” To which the humming finally stops, and in a jump-scare like thing abruptly turns towards him and screams “We’re running out of time!” Suddenly, Keith is bombarded with visions of random parts of the galaxy, finally settling on the Allura Nebula. And then Keith wakes up.
Cut to the interior of a bedroom, a communication device is ringing. The couple, Shiro and Curtis, groan in annoyance.
Shiro: Why would anybody be calling us this late?
Curtis: It’s obviously your boyfriend.
Shiro: Hilarious.
Curtis: This isn’t even my best material.
After a little more better written exchange, Shiro finally picks it up. It is in fact Keith, and he’s calling to tell him about this dream he just had. We learn that he’s been having dreams like this for something going on a year now, and that the incident we saw in the Dream happened a few months ago, minus the whole Allura thing. Shiro advises him to maybe try to find out what exactly those flashes are, and although Keith is a bit doubtful, the recurring dreams do remind of the time he could somewhat sense the Blue Lion, only on a bigger scale. After their conversation end, Curtis asks if Keith had another cosmic dream. After, Shiro confirms this, he tells him about how Keith is finally going to try to find out what the visions contain, which might result in some kind of galactic road. Curtis asks him if he’s tempted to go, but Shiro denies that, claiming he’s had enough adventures to last a lifetime before kissing him and snuggling up to him. However, you can see from their facial expression that Shiro’s not completely telling the truth, and that Curtis doesn’t really believe him.
In our next scene, we see Pidge welcoming a new batch of students to the premises. As she is making her grand speech she is suddenly interrupted by an officer, I’m thinking an alien, telling her that he is here to see her. She tells the officer that she’s in the middle of something, but the officer says that he told her say it was urgent. Pidge rolls her eyes as she sighs exasperatedly, and tells Chip to take over for her, who had seemingly been standing behind her the whole time. He eagerly takes over, and begins by asking who would like to try out the anti-gravity room?
A note on Chip, I’d like to imagine him as a lovable little dink that instantly endears himself to all that meet him. He serves as Pidge’s little assistant, and is constantly updating his database on all scientific breakthroughs, but personality-wise is just fascinated by everything, and adores everyone, but none more than Dr. Pidge/Ms. Katie, his primary creator, and his Uncle Lance. My dream cast would be Sam Lavignino, aka CatBug, or someone with a similar energy and instant likability, slightly older sounding than the CatBug character. We’ll get back to him. Be afraid.
Pidge approaches the person who summoned by saying ‘For Quiznack’s Sake, you can’t keep on declaring an emergency every time you want to hang out with me, Lance! I had to make Chip take over my orientation tour for me. Do you know how irresponsible I’ll look to these new cadets now that dumped my job on my childlike android, right on the first day’
‘Well, if you don’t want me to pull the emergency card, then you should stop responding to it. And besides, you wind up having Chip substitute for most of the semester anyway, because you would rather be tinkering than lecturing. And they’re in good hands, he knows your material frontwards and back, plus he has better people skills than you.’
‘How dare you.’ she responds in fake outrage, at which they both laugh. ‘So why are you here. what’s the ‘urgent matter’ that made you abandon your farm.’
‘I’ll have you know, I’m here on official business too. You’re mother had another breakthrough in agricultural science, and I wanted to see if I could put this knew knowledge to use at my farm.’
‘Uhuh,’ she responds.
‘As for the urgent matter, I heard that some nerd was working on her birthday, which seriously comes into conflict with my plans to pamper and spoil her, and that’s just unforgivable.’
‘For the last time, I don’t need to do anything special for my birthday, I’m an adult!’
‘Then I guess you don’t want to see the ancient piece of technology, I accidentally unearthed.’ He says as he casually walks away.
‘You’re right, I don’t.’ She says as she begins to walk the other way. Only to turn around with the excuse, that she might as well have a look at it, since he brought it all the way here.
Lance shows her the tech, which may or may not turn into a macguffin later on, and Pidge is clearly impressed. It’s not quite as advanced as anything they have today, but definitely more sophisticated than its carbon dating (Is that a thing you do with objects?) would imply. She’s excitedly gushing about it, and tells him something to the gist of, ‘You didn’t have to do this.’ to which Lance responds something like, ‘I would do anything to make this happy.’ This suddenly makes everything a bit too real for Pidge, and her demeanor drops as she turns to have a solemn conversation that they had clearly had many times, when Chip comes around leading the group of cadets, who for some reason all have some kind sweet snack in their hands, and telling them general academic tour stuff in a cheery voice, only to drop everything and hug-tackle Lance once he sees him, all star-eyed and delighted to see his other favorite person. One of the cadets, does not quite know who Lance is asks about it. Chip is personally offended that there is somebody who doesn’t recognize the Lance Serrano (Or whatever your preferred last name for him is, in this pretend movie I intend to give everybody their missing last names.) on sight, and immediately begins launching into all his accomplishments, which of course impresses the cadets. They start bombarding him with questions, until Pidge tells them to stop, and then tells them to ask their questions one at a time. So an impromptu Q & A session commences in which it is confirmed that Lance is not Altean, (A self-indulgence for me, because it frustrates how many people have run with this fact, despite the marks being the only Altean trait he exhibits.) culminating in one of the cadets meekly asking if he would do a flight demonstration for them. At first he tries to decline, but Chip is excited by the idea, and Pidge eggs him on, bringing up the whole Tailor line. Lance takes her aside and asks her what she is doing. She responds that since he disrupted her job, he better make amends by contributing to the tour. He complains that he hasn’t flown so much as a cargo-jet in years, and how does she expect him to fly one of their state-of-the-art, not to mention sinfully expensive fighter-jets, without damaging it. ‘Please, a pro like you, it will be like riding a bike. And if you do crash it, I’ll take responsibility.’
‘Right.’
‘And I’ll go along with whatever other birthday surprises you have in store for me, without complaint.’
‘...’
‘And it would make Chip really, really happy.’
‘That’s playing dirty, you know I can’t say no to my favorite android.’
And so he goes along with it. At first he’s a bit hesitant, worried about so much as scuffing the fancy new jet, but before long he’s enjoying himself, and showboating to all the kids on the ground. Pidge looks up at him with a face similar to the one he was making earlier when he was watching her gush over the piece of tech.
And we are with Keith again. He goes about trying to learn more about his dreams by asking his fellow Blades if they know someone, or something, that can help you get information from your subconscious. Zethrid says that she thinks she remembers an Alien race that could dreamwalk, and seeing as Keith doesn’t have much to go on, he decides to head out there. Acxa elects to go with him, as she is also familiar with the quadrant of space that this race resides in, and it’s a bit disorienting for the uninitiated. They get there, and convince the race to help Keith out. He is but in pseudo sleep state, and this time the memory is of the time he visited his father’s grave with Krolia. (We’re facing the front of the gravestone this time. And yes, we do finally find out Texas Kogane’s name.) Once again he hears Allura’s humming, except now it is slowed down. He approaches it, and again the visions start coming. But this time he is able to get a good look at all the images flashing in front of his eyes. They don’t mean anything to him, but in the last one, not only does he see a nebula that resembles Allura, but a small silhouette that looks suspiciously like...Voltron? The dreamwalkers have copies of all the images he saw thankfully, because a race like their’s would have found a way to transfer information out of a mind directly into images (Sort of a similar school of thinking like the Altean memory hologram things.) Back at the Blade’s headquarters, he asks if anybody know’s where the nebula is located. Nobody has ever seen something like it, but a few of them, including Zethrid, Ezor, and Axca, seem to recognize a couple of the other images. They realize that the other locations must be a path to the nebula, so Keith recruits those that knew were to find those locations to set out on reconnaissance mission.
Here I’d like to jump around a bit. We’ll keep switching between Keith and crew’s journey, and Pidge’s Birthday Celebration. In attendance of this dinner are Hunk and Shay--Naturally, as they prepared the food--The Holt family including N-7 and Chip, Shiro and Curtis, and of course Lance. I would like this to be one of the more lighter spots in the movie, where we just see everybody’s dynamic with each other, and just exist, because after this act it’s going to get pretty heavy. One of the things that I would like to happen is that there is a projection in the background highlighting Pidge’s greatest achievements. (Including a clip of Chip first going operational, his first words being, ‘Please, define the word ‘mom’. Nevermind, I have found the definition in my Database. Be very afraid.) The party scene comes to an end, just as Keith’s expedition reach the Nebula. He decides to approach it alone in a cruiser, despite the disapproval of the rest of the crew. He claims that he has a feeling that he needs to do this alone. As he is approaching the Nebula, we occasionally cut back and forth to Pidge and Lance, who are having a conversation as he walks her home. They are discussing the day they had, Pidge thanks him for forcing her to attend her own party, Lance thanks her for encouraging him to fly again. Keith’s cruiser enters the Nebula and in the center is in fact a fully formed Voltron, seemingly deactivated. Lance asks her if she would like to hang out with him more often, alone. This devolves into a conversation (Heavily inspired by a textpost from @sp4c3-0ddity. I’ll try to find the link later.) about why them dating is or isn’t a good idea. Keith gets closer to Voltron, and realizes that it seems protecting something in its arms. The conversation grows more dramatic. Keith finally reaches Voltron, and discovers that there is some kind of a force field containing a floating young woman in the same position as the Nebula. (Wearing a light dress, because this is a family picture.) The force field allows his cruiser to pass through, and his scanners or whatsits indicate that there is a breathable atmosphere within. He opens his cruiser door? I don’t know spacecraft lingo, sue me and reaches out for the woman and brings her inside. He closes the door/hatch/whatever quickly because the moment he takes a hold of the woman the force field begins the dissipate and Voltron appears to be separating. The woman, who at the very least resembles Allura, flutters her eyes open and when her gaze locks on Keith she says ‘You’re here! Thank the Ancients, you’re here. Now we can...’ and she falls unconscious again. Meanwhile, Lance and Pidge have reached the climax of their argument. He doesn’t understand why she doesn’t want start a relationship when it’s clear there is something between them, and she says that it’s because she can’t be who he wants her to be.
‘I just want you to be you, why else would I be asking you out? And don’t tell me this is because of Allura. Of course I still love her, but she’s gone now, and I am more than ready to move on. She wouldn’t want me to be in mourning for the rest of my life. Quiznak, if Curtis and Shiro could make it work despite their deceased loved ones than you have no excuse.’
‘That’s different, I knew Allura. She was one of my closest friends. I couldn’t do that to her. I wouldn’t even be able to look at you without feeling guilty. You literally have her mark on you.’
‘Stop making this about other people, and just tell me how you feel!’
‘This is how I feel! Why won’t you listen to me?! Trust me, if we did this I would not be able to focus on us, because I would always have her in mind, and that wouldn’t be fair to any of us.’
Lance sighs. ‘Look, if you’re not interested in me then just tell me. But don’t act like you’re doing me a favor by refusing to date me.’
‘My feelings for you don’t matter! I’ve been in love with you since before we even met Allura, that’s why we can’t do this! Because I would be taking advantage of her absence!’ Her eyes widen in Shock, and she covers in mouth in mortification, clearly not wanting to reveal that much. Lance is surprised too, never realizing that her feelings run that deep.
‘Pidge, you’re not...’ Their communication devices start ringing. Cut to the other former Paladins, who’s devices are also ringing. The pick it up and are shocked by Keith’s message.
‘I found Allura. She’s returned!’
Pidge and Lance look at each other uncertainly, not knowing what this development to them.
And this is where I stop for now. Ain’t I a stinker? Because as of writing this sentence it has almost been five hours and I need me a break.
To be continued probably....

The same thing needs to be said upfront here as with Superman and Batman: what makes a character good - at least in the sense of defining core principles of their personality and themes - is not the same thing as what makes them successful. That’s a necessary ingredient, but Spider-Man didn’t climb to the top of the merchandising heap on the back of Peter Parker worrying about his money problems. What was much more relevant - starting at the visceral mass-appeal stuff and working our way down - is likely that:
Everything about Spider-Man and his world looks cool
Tumblr media
Each aspect of how Spider-Man looks and moves is calibrated to be slick as hell. He’s got that nifty Steve Ditko costume that shouldn’t work at all with how much detail it has going on and how much it obscures what his deal actually is with traditional superhero elements, but it comes out to a streamlined whole that accentuates how his body curls and angles itself around, and obscuring he’s based on spiders isn’t a problem because they’re the actual worst. He doesn’t just run or fly, but cirque du soleil’s through endless freefall on manmade tightropes and swings that he sticks to and contorts himself around at impossible angles. And he does it all through the most iconic skyline in America - Gotham’s creepy, Metropolis is generic, the other Marvel heroes (aside from a couple in Hell’s Kitchen) use NYC as a base for adventures elsewhere, but Spidey’s the Manhattan hero, ducking and weaving through neon and brick in three dimensions. Add the little storytelling touches on top like the spider-sense lightning and his mask and face appearing at the same time, and his adventures are just cool to look at in a way unlike any other superhero.
His power fantasy is physically easy to imagine
Tumblr media
I commented with Superman that he just does what we do but better, and it’s much the same with Spider-Man, but on an even smaller, more intimate scale. His only powers that aren’t just better versions of the things we already do (though not SO much better as to become incomprehensible) are:
* He’s sticky
* He swings from ropes
* He gets a bad feeling about things
We know what those are like. We can imagine the sensations that accompany being him in a way that few other superheroes can match, and therefore watching him do what he does has a certain extra power to it that doesn’t come with watching a hero use telepathy or a wishing ring.
Spider-Man’s funny
Tumblr media
So before moving past a picture and the ‘Powers’ section of his Marvel’s Who’s Who entry he’s got a lot going for him, but that’s not the same as a character. But he’s got that too, to an extent even takes as far afield as the Sam Raimi movies at least somewhat understood the biggest detail: Spider-Man’s a goof. Not of the winking-at-the-screen untouchable Bugs Bunny type Deadpool’s popularized lately, but a dope mouthing off in the face of danger because he’s too scared to shut up; whether or not he’s even actually successfully funny almost matters less than that he makes the effort while he’s fighting for his life, and the personality that lends him in the middle a fight where most superheroes default to grimacing silence. The surface qualities I talked about earlier help here too; his spindly figure and ability to get himself into just about any position help with the physical side of comedy, and even ducking the obvious metaphor, him firing silly string and goo all over the place (where it can fizzle out at any moment) like a one-man birthday clown doesn’t hurt. And that he doesn’t put up a serious front additionally means he can FREAK RIGHT OUT when under fire in a way that his colleagues can’t, giving him that little extra range in the right circumstances.
Spider-Man’s the ‘normal’ one
Tumblr media
That he acts like a normal human (albeit one asking for a sock in the jaw) in the middle of fights points to the other defining side of his day-to-day adventures: he’s the hero who’s one of us. That’s a gimmick that’s a dime a dozen these days - in fact, Spider-Man didn’t even have the defining “superhero being a normal person” comic of the decade, that was Hawkeye - but he’s original and the A-lister who plays by those rules, and that gives him a cultural foothold that can’t be matched. It’s not just the big, soap-operatic material like his Aunt’s health troubles or losing his job or his friends trying to kill him either; it’s catching the flu, it’s his costume shrinking in the wash, it’s fighting crime for a couple weeks with his arm in a sling or trying to hold a conversation over the phone while people are shooting at him. These ‘what makes X great’ posts of mine tend to focus on what makes characters immediately and obviously connect to a general audience that generally pays attention to them for about 2 1/2 hours every 2-3 years, and with Spider-Man it’s obvious - his adventures are seeped in the mundane of everyday life in a way completely divorced from any other major superhero, and that makes it easy to look at him and go “hah, his costume’s soaked in the rain and he can’t get the boot off/he screwed up and took his mask off while someone was looking/he didn’t stick the landing and fell on his ass! Yeah, I know that feel, that’s probably how I’d be as a superhero too”.
Spider-Man’s a great character
Tumblr media
And this comes last: not what draws ‘em in, but what keeps ‘em. Skipping past anything and everything to do with power, responsibility, and dead uncles, Peter Parker’s an interesting dude, because by all rights he should have been a supervillain. On the second page of his first story he’s all but thinking “I’ll show them! I’ll show them all!!!”, his immediate instinct is to make money, and his defining trait at first aside from power and ego is that he’s a budding mad scientist; May and Ben tried their best, and he loves them for it, but Parker’s been hurt by the world every day of his life and hasn’t developed any meaningful concept of why he should bother doing anything for it. But then what happens, happens...and in the original stories, he keeps being an asshole, only quitting showbusiness when he can’t cash the checks, only getting into crimefighting so he can sell pictures of his adventures. He’s just not a very good person by nature; he’s petty and vindictive, short-sighted, fearful, and above all arrogant.
But slowly, painfully, he learns his lesson, over and over and over again. He realizes what happens when he brushes aside his duties, he comes out of his shell and opens up to people, he goes from self-aggrandizing and self-pitying to self-effacing. In other words he stops being a shitty teenager and gets it beat into his head what it means to be a grownup, and no matter how much the world craps on his shoulders he takes it in his stride (give or take an understandable breakdown) and figures his way through it to the next crisis, because he remembers what happens when he shrugs his shoulders and lets the world just roll on past him as not his problem. That may be guilt talking more than principle or reason much of the time, but that’s what makes him vulnerable and scared and human; he fucks up hard and frequently, and keeps going because he can’t quit even when he wants to. He’s just some dude getting by in spite of himself; in other words, he’s the hero who could be you.

Connor’s Collection of Comics
Imagine being seven years old, sitting in a movie theater and watching Toby McGuire on the big screen wearing the iconic blue and red suit. Imagine leaving the theater speechless and wondering what other adventures and stories Spiderman has to offer. That’s exactly when 25 year old Connor O’Keefe decided he wanted to try comic books. Connor has been collecting comic books for almost 15 years. Growing up in Medford, MA, Connor was influenced by his parents and the pop culture that surrounded  him. Between the cartoons that he used to watch and growing up with comic book movies originally starting to come out, Connor became hooked. It was after the third Sam Rani Spiderman movie that Connor officially got into comics. He became a collector of all things Venom and Venom related. Although Connor's collection isn’t just limited to Marvel, as he also collects a lot of Star Wars merchandise. He specifically likes General Grievous- he recently completed a General Grievous model. To complete the model, he painted it by hand to make it look more realistic. A peek into his bedroom can show you just how much he has collected throughout the years.
His walls are adorned with quite a few posters, his shelf is filled with comics, posters and frames that have yet to be hung sitting in a pile on the floor. A lot of these frames were gathered at Comic Cons- when he got old enough, he started going to Boston Comic Con with his father and has been known to go for at least one out of the three days every year. He has autographed headshots of different characters, like Bane from Batman. Yet to be hung up is a Venom shadow box filled with different cut outs of Venom’s different art styles throughout the years. Funko Pops adorn his shelves and his TV stand, ranging with characters from The Big Bang Theory to Smuag from Lord of the Rings. Everywhere you look in his room, you can find something comic related- whether it is DC, Marvel, Star Wars, or even select video games.
Growing up in Medford, Connor would go to shop at Harrison's Comics, found in The Meadow Glen Mall. When he was 14, his family moved to Reading, MA and Connor realized he needed to find a new store. He happened upon Comically Speaking and has been going there ever since.
Tumblr media
Q: How were you introduced to comic books?
A: They were just there. I was born in 95’ so I had my adolescence and early adulthood molded by the comic book movies. As we know them today, they started really in 1998 with Blade. That's kind of when they started taking off, because then they had the Sam Raimi SpiderMan movies, the original X-Men trilogy, and so on. I grew up watching these movies and watching the cartoons and eventually, I think it was after SpiderMan 3 came out, I was in fifth grade, I thought, ‘yeah, I want to read the material that inspired these movies that I liked so much.’ I was living in Medford at the time, so there was a comic book store, Harrison’s, that was in the Meadow Glen Mall, which is no longer a thing in Medford. But I went there and I picked up a couple of back issues of comics and I have been reading comics consistently since then. It's a month to month thing, but the movies basically got me into it. Well, the movies and the cartoons.
Q: Who is your favorite character and why?
A: My favorite character is Venom, specifically Eddie Brock as Venom. There have been a couple of different characters that have had that title. Eddie is my favorite character because first of all, his visual design is very good. It's very crisp- you immediately know when you're looking at when you see him. He’s super edgy and I really like that kind of thing. I like Eddie because he's had a very long transformation over the course of the 30 years he's been around. At first he was just trying to kill SpiderMan and then he had an arc where he realizes that Spiderman isn't such a bad guy. And then he was sick with cancer and he realized, ‘Hey, I have kind of been doing some terrible stuff’ and he gets better from the cancer and he decides he's going to take this new lease on life and become a better person and be a hero. When I first started reading comics, they were in the middle of the cancer arc. So while I've been reading comics, I only know Eddie Brock as a hero. So in my mind, Venom is a superhero because that's what he's been for 20 of the 30 years he's existed.
Q: What type(s) of comic related things do you collect?
A: I do collect back issues, starting when I was in fifth grade, so I am 25 now. I take great pride in the fact that I have amassed, I don't want to say all of them cause I'm sure there's an odd issue here or there that I might've missed. But every single issue that Eddie Brock has appeared in, with the exception of his first and second appearances, which are like massively expensive, $200-300 issues. Those are the great white whales. But I have just about every single issue of comic book that he's ever appeared in over the course of 30 years. I kind of take some pride in that. That's taken a while to amass. Obviously that's ever expanding because he has a current ongoing book. In terms of other things I collect,  I am trying to build a physical collection of the movies. Personally I enjoy streaming content but at the same time I realize that I don't want to be left without a particular film, if a company decides that they want to pull an individual move from a service. A little while ago they almost pulled Friends from Netflix and people started freaking out, everyone was losing their minds about it. And I'm like, ‘Hey, buy the physical copy, no one's taken that away from you.’ So I collect the movies. I think out of the 20 Marvel Studios movies, I have about 17 of them in some capacity or another.  I don't necessarily collect games, there haven't been too many comic book games lately. But I do play them when they come out.
Q: Which is your most treasured comic?
A: My most treasured comic is the first mini series of comics I ever got. It's a series of six issues that came out in 94’, called Venom: Lethal Protector. It was Eddie Brock's first standalone story where he was trying to prove his worth as a hero and they were kind of hard to track down. I had to track them down over the course of two years. I started collecting them when I was in fifth grade. It was before the internet really took off, and before online ordering was a thing. So I was tracking 20 year old comics down at brick and mortar stores, which is kind of a tall order. Especially when you're 10 years old and you can't get anywhere yourself. So I have all six of those. They're in packages, they're propped up and they're preserved. I don't read them, I have different means of reading the story if I ever want to revisit it. But those are probably my most treasured thing in my comic collection.
Q: Which comic book related movie is your favorite and least favorite?
A: I'm going to sound like a bit of a broken record, but the Venom movie that came out, the other year has a very special place in my heart even though it's not necessarily one-to-one with the character. That movie was in production, since SpiderMan 3 came out in 2007. It's been in production a very long time and people have been trying to get it off the ground for many, many years and I was following it day by day. When that finally came out, I had this big party, I basically went through my contacts and got a bunch of people that I knew over the course of that 10 year span. And I'm like, ‘Hey, you remember that Venom movie I always talked about? Uh, it's finally coming out. You guys want to go see it?’ It was this big thing. I have pictures from that day. We all went to Dick's Last Resort in Boston, we went out to dinner beforehand and we all just had a great time with it. That movie, even though it's not a perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination, it holds a very special place in my heart.
Q: Are there any movies that you think goes against a character completely?
A: This is a slightly controversial opinion. I don't think Marvel Spiderman, like the current Spiderman, Tom Holland is good. I enjoy the movies and I think Tom Holland's great. But Spiderman- he's supposed to be his own man. In the new Marvel movies that come out, he's presented as Iron Man's sidekick. He has not had a solo movie where he's dealing with one of his own villains. Every villain that Spiderman has so far is somebody who's pissed off at Iron Man. So Spiderman has to spend his solo movies, cleaning up Iron Man's messes. I think that it's really unfortunate that they used Iron Man as Spiderman's jumping off point because Spiderman has, out of all the characters, some of the richest individual stories he can tell. Every character has their big stories, but Spiderman has the most. He is that company's flagship character and has been for so many years before Iron Man blew up. It's especially unfortunate that Iron Man has taken the place of Uncle Ben in the current Spiderman movies. Uncle Ben is the reason Spiderman does what he does in every single medium across the board. So, slightly controversial take on that one. But yeah, Tom Holland Spiderman, while enjoyable to watch is definitely not the Spiderman I would have liked to have seen on the big screen. I still think Toby Maguire is probably the most accurate Spiderman.
Q: Can you touch upon the movie script that you wrote for Venom when you were younger?
A: I was 10 or 11 years old and I had written a script for the Venom movie that was 20 pages long because I had no concept of how that would translate to the screen. I still have it by the way, it's up in my room on my desk. It's terrible and it's cringy and it's everything you would expect a 10 year old to write. But I got to say, I wrote a fight scene in that movie and that fight scene is a banger. I would love to see that translate to the big screen. 10 year old Connor could choreograph fights. All this crazy stuff was going to happen, they're really beating the life out of each other. Lampposts were flying, it was great. I want somebody, if you're reading this, give me a call. We can work something out.
Q: How did you find out about Comically Speaking?
A: A couple of years after I started getting into comics, my family moved from Medford to Reading. Granted this was not the thing that really drove me to Comically Speaking. The thing that drove me to Comically Speaking was Harrison's shuttered their doors like a year or so before we made the move. So when we ended up in Reading, I knew I needed to find a new place to do comics stuff . So I  just Googled places for comics near me and Comically Speaking came up and I went there and I've been going there pretty consistently since we moved to Reading about 11 years ago.
Q: What were your first impressions of the store?
A: My first impression of the store was that I felt a little overwhelmed. They have a lot more than Harrison's did, in terms of their selection of books. You got to remember also at the time, I was like 13 and they like to think that they know everything and when they are presented with something that they do not know, they refuse to admit that they do not know it. So I spent about 40 minutes in that store just wandering around like a dumb ass, searchng for what I was looking for. Eventually I figured it out, It was the preteen equivalent to when they change stuff around at the grocery store and you get angry that you can't find it. But yes, I was very overwhelmed and I was too full of myself to accept anyone's help.
Q: You’ve been to other stores that sell comics, chain stores and whatnot, how does Comically Speaking compare?
A: I’m struggling to remember what the Harrison's in Medford was like because that was  a lifetime and a half ago. There’s one in Salem, it’s pretty easy to navigate. They have stuff like manga, the Japanese comics. Harrison's is all right, I prefer Comically Speaking myself,it's my home store. Newbury Comics they're less of a comic store, you'll go into Newbury Comics and you can get a lot of stuff there, but you walk in there like, ‘Hey, I'm looking for comics’ and they have this tiny itty bitty rack in the corner with like only like 10 of the most recent comics of the most from the most popular books. And it's just like, 50% of your name is complete bullshit Newbury Comics. You're selling like 10 comics in this store. Comically Speaking, for me, is where I want to go and get some books. I'm gonna get some books and with the downstairs area I can go down there and get collectibles now. I only go to Harrison's or Newbury if I'm completely out of the area, those were my go to while I was at school in Beverley. But if I'm here and I have the time and money, I'm definitely going to be in Comically Speaking at least once a month, picking up the books that I read.
Q: What do you think about Comically Speaking as a whole?
A: It's my store. There's a lot of concern right now, I don't know how familiar you are with the actual comics industry, but one of their big shipping companies, Diamond, shut their doors for the minute because of the coronavirus. So DC and Marvel can't get their books out if Diamond isn't actually moving them. The Corona virus is going to be hitting the comics industry a lot harder than most industries. I am a little concerned about it because the locally owned stores are going to be the ones hit by it. I'm hoping that everything works out once this wears off and things are stable again. I'll definitely be going in there and helping out, spending some time. I like the store, it’s a good homey environment. That's the other thing about Newbury, I walk into Newbury Comics and I get the trendy geek vibe. When you go into Comically Speaking, I never get that vibe. It's just very down to earth and it doesn't feel  pretentious. It's always like these people like what they're doing, they like comics. If I walked into a Newbury Comics and I asked them what they thought of a particular artist, they wouldn't know. I don’t know, there's more genuineness there to the people and the environment. Everything about Comically Speaking, I feel like I'm with my people there.
Q: What do comics mean to you?
A: They entertain me. I like reading the stories. I think most of the characters are pretty good. There are more characters you can count with comics. I could sit here for hours and I probably wouldn't even scratch the surface. They’re really good to convey things about who we are as a people and what we hold dear. If you exist on this earth, if you have a pulse, there's a comic book character that you can connect with in some way. Or you can look at this character and say, ‘Hey, I understand what that person is going through. I want to read more about that person and I want to see what kind of adventures they go on’. You can connect with that and I think that's what gives any type of medium; comics, movies, TV shows. That's what gives mediums their strength. When you can look at characters and see characters who you are inside, or  you know someone like that. I think that's what gives a story their legs. Comics for me are filled with characters like that.

My Thoughts on Spiderman: Homecoming.
This Saturday, I’ll be doing something different. Instead of uploading a short story I thought I’d talk about a movie I just recently saw. Namely this one:
Tumblr media
Before I get in deep, I wanna warn all of y’all.
I will be getting into SPOILERS for this movie.
If you don’t want to be spoiled, here’s a quick spoiler-free review: It’s great. One of the most fun Spider-Man movies I’ve seen and it is easily my favorite of all the 6 Spider-Man films (I even like it more than Spider-Man 2). So yeah, I highly recommend it.
Again, SPOILERS from here on out. If you don’t wanna be SPOILED, read no further.
-----------------------------------------------
I really can't state my love for Spider Man: Homecoming enough. It's really good and so far one of my personal favorites of the MCU (though both the Guardians of the Galaxy movies are a very close second).
Obviously, Tom Holland is an incredible talent. The previous on screen Spider-Men have been commonly critiqued for expertly portraying one side of the character and falling flat for the other side. Toby Maguire was a great Peter Parker but an awkward Spider-Man, whereas Andrew Garfield was a fantastic Spider-Man but his Peter Parker came off a bit too cool and confident. Tom Holland was great at portraying BOTH.
I also felt that this incarnation was the most relatable. Peter's eagerness to join the Avengers on another mission (to the point where he's constantly leaving voice messages on Happy Hogan's phone) is absolutely adorkable and his sheer devotion to his duties as Spider-Man is admirable to a degree. At the very least, he's taking "With great Power, there must also come great Responsibility" seriously.
And good God, when he's in peril it's actually a little tough to watch. Especially the scene where he’s stuck under the huge amount of debris and there’s no one to help him. After all, he's still a kid with only a little experience to this whole superhero gig. So when he's in true danger, danger that might actually do him in this time, it's both suspenseful and even heart wrenching to witness.
I also found Parker's friend, Ned Leed's to be a rather fun character. His constant squees of joy are rather relatable (I know I'D get excited if I knew my friend was Spider-Man). While there are moments where he comes dangerously close to being a guy Peter should stop hanging out with, he fortunately manages to never get TOO annoying and he also proves to be truly helpful as he saves Peter from the Shocker and then goes on to be a rather promising “Guy in the chair”.
The interactions with Peter, Tony, and Happy Hogan are also really good. I really like that they got Faverau back for Happy Hogan and he does a great job of portraying a grump with a complete disdain for Peter. However, he also grows to respect Peter later one. The scene near the end where Happy straight forwardly tells Peter he did him a solid by fighting the Vulture is a really touching scene that shows how much his perception of the kid has changed from the beginning.
Tony Stark is...well Tony Stark. You really think RDJ's gonna turn in a bad performance? But yeah, he's fantastic in the few scenes he's in and I appreciate that he doesn't steal the spotlight from Peter. He's there when he needs to be there, and he leaves when he needs to leave.
Flash Thompson......eeeeeeh. It's not that this is a bad character or even a bad performance. I just think it's a bit too far removed from the original character. Really, the only real similarity between Movie Flash and Comic Flash is that they're asshole bullies. Sure, Ned Leed's is nothing like his comic counterpart but he's an extremely obscure character in the comics. Flash, on the other hand, is practically one of Peter's most pivotal and most enduring antagonists.
It'd be like if they included J. Jonah Jameson and made him a young man in his 20's who rarely raises his voice and is rather supportive of Spider-Man. I dunno, I think they could've at least made Flash a Spider-Man fanboy to give him some more ties to his comic counterpart.
Peter's crush, Liz is fine. She didn't really leave that huge of an impact on me. Though I did feel sorry for her after Peter ditched her at homecoming. (Not that he didn’t have a good reason, mind you).
Alright, I honestly fought myself to keep this post from just being a Michael Keaton praise-fest and I think I did alright so far. However, I think I’m gonna stumble a little on this next part because I cannot praise Michael Keaton enough.
His performance as Adrian Toomes (AKA: The Vulture) is the highlight of the movie for me. His backstory as a blue-collar family man who, along with his cleanup crew, have had their jobs taken away from Damage Control (Hey, Comicbook reference!), is sympathetic in and of itself. It also makes Adrian a scavenger of sorts (fitting). However, Adrian Toomes has a fair amount of sympathetic qualities as well.
For starters, the major reason Toomes is an arms dealer is so his family (not to mention the families of his employees) doesn't have to suffer in poverty. He's also a benevolent boss to his underlings and only kills an employee who coldly threatened to harm his family (it's even implied he didn't intend to kill him). He's even surprisingly grateful to Peter for saving his daughter's life. In fact, because Peter saved his daughter, Toomes was actually willing to leave Peter alone....provided he leaves HIM alone of course.
Of course, this doesn't mean The Vulture is a soft villain. God help you if you continue to interfere with his business. Adrian Toomes is incredibly ruthless when he has to be and, since he's played by Michael Keaton, is downright terrifying when he gets serious.
My absolute favorite scene is the one in the car where Adrian figures out Peter is Spider-Man. You see, Adrian turns out to be the father of Liz, Peter’s crush. And as he takes them to Homecoming, Liz let’s it slip that Peter has been disappearing a lot lately. It's genuinely chilling to see Toomes' face glimmer as he slowly puts two and two together.
I also liked how they handled the Shocker. He's not 100% faithful to the character but there is definitely one element I'm glad they got right. Near the third act, Shocker actually announces that he's leaving the Vulture's crew. The job has gotten too much unwanted attention from both the feds and Iron Man. He even urges Adrian to do the same and only stays when he thinks there's a much better chance of success.
THAT is the Shocker of the comics. Yeah, he's a butt monkey with a silly costume, but he's also a career bank robber who's a veteran in the field for a reason. He always keeps a low profile, he never holds grudges, and always tries to get out a job when it goes sour. Yeah, this version of him isn't shown to be a technical genius (at least from what we've seen so far), but at the very least he's still a pro who knows when to fold 'em. I hope we see more of him in future installments.
Speaking of villains I wanna see more of, Marc Gargan (The Scorpion) is in this for about two scenes...and boy does he make good use of them! We don't know much about him, but we do know that he is bad news and is out for Spider-Blood by the end of the film. Also, in a post credits scene, he mentions "Several friends" outside who might wanna have a go at Spider-Man. I'm probably reaching here, but what if there are "Six" friends of his? Six friends that happen to be quite "Sinister"? Ah? AAAAH?
But seriously though, I really hope Marc Gargan makes another appearance in the sequel. It'd be a terrible waste if he just disappeared with not even a mention.
One more thing I wanna mention before I (mercifully) end this post: Michelle Jones....whose friends call her MJ.
Honestly, it's another Flash Thompson situation of a good character and performance (One of my favorite jokes in the whole movie is when Michelle snarks about the Washington monument being built by slaves) having absolutely nothing to do with the comics character. Michelle is a love interest. Mary Jane is a love interest. That is literally it.
This instance is even more egregious because Mary Jane Waston is one of the franchise's most iconic characters. Even regular Joes who don't read comics can easily tell you who Mary Jane is and for this movie to completely change her personality is annoying. Not helping matters at all is the fact that the Raimi films didn't get her right either so we can add "Wasted opportunity to get the character right" to the list of problems. Again, Michelle is great as her own character but the MJ stuff just annoys me.
However, that is still a blemish in what is otherwise a fantastic addition to the MCU. I’m definitely getting this one when it comes to blu-ray.

Virtual meetings, Wonder Woman, WarriOrb & Austism Studies
Welcome, to the World of TOMOROOOW!
What does listening to a podcast have to do with listening to your boss? Science is now showing benefits to virtual meetings. Which means one day, even your boss might be replaced by a voice over the wire. This still doesn't mean you can get out of wearing pants.
Wonder Woman's director thinks DC shouldn't follow the tried and true MCU formula. Sure, it worked for them, but can it be pulled off twice? Let us know if you have a good argument for there being room for two comic cinematic universes.
WarriOrb is a new game that's just been released on Steam. But following a highly popular demo, WarriOrb's initial sales have been disappointingly low. The devs have posted their own analysis on Reddit, and they're understandably confused.
Wrapping up, we have a discussion about scientific studies involving Autistic people.
We played Crysis and Legends of Runeterra this week. Professor's computer didn't melt playing Crysis, and DJ isn't any better at counting cards.
Wait around to hear from us next week with another great episode.

4th May 1938 - Kanō Jigorō - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kan%C5%8D_Jigor%C5%8D
Japanese educator and athlete, the founder of Judo. Judo was the first Japanese martial art to gain widespread international recognition, and the first to become an official Olympic sport.Pedagogical innovations attributed to Kanō include the use of black and white belts, and the introduction of dan ranking to show the relative ranking among members of a martial art style.
In 1915, Kanō gave this definition to judo:
“Judo is the way of the highest or most efficient use of both physical and mental energy. Through training in the attack and defence techniques of judo, the practitioner nurtures their physical and mental strength, and gradually embodies the essence of the Way of Judo. Thus, the ultimate objective of Judo discipline is to be utilized as a means to self-perfection, and thenceforth to make a positive contribution to society.”
In his professional life, Kanō was an educator. Important postings included serving as director of primary education for the Ministry of Education from 1898 to 1901, and as president of Tokyo Higher Normal School from 1900 until 1920. He played a key role in making judo and kendo part of the Japanese public school programs of the 1910s. Kanō was also a pioneer of international sports. Accomplishments included being the first Asian member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) (he served from 1909 until 1938); officially representing Japan at most Olympic Games held between 1912 and 1936; and serving as a leading spokesman for Japan's bid for the 1940 Olympic Games.

4th May 2008 - Fred Baur - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Baur
Fredric John Baur, Americanorganic chemist and food storage technician notable for designing and patenting the Pringles packaging. Baur filed for a patent for the tubular Pringles container and for the method of packaging the curved, stacked chips in the container in 1966, and it was granted in 1970. His other accomplishments included development of frying oils and freeze-dried ice cream. Some of Baur's ashes were buried in a Pringles can at his request. Baur's children said they honored his request to bury him in one of the cans by placing part of his cremated remains in a Pringles container in his grave in suburban Springfield Township. The rest of his remains were placed in an urn buried along with the can, with some placed in another urn and given to one of Baur's grandchildren. He died at the age of 89 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

4th May 1655 - Bartolomeo Cristofori - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartolomeo_Cristofori
Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco, Italian maker of musical instruments famous for inventing the piano. During the remaining years of the 17th century, Cristofori invented two keyboard instruments before he began his work on the piano. The spinettone, Italian for "big spinet", was a large, multi-choired spinet (a harpsichord in which the strings are slanted to save space), with disposition 1 x 8', 1 x 4'; most spinets have the simple disposition 1 x 8'. This invention may have been meant to fit into a crowded orchestra pit for theatrical performances, while having the louder sound of a multi-choired instrument. The other invention was the highly original oval spinet, a kind of virginal with the longest strings in the middle of the case. It was thought for some time that the earliest mention of the piano is from a diary of Francesco Mannucci, a Medici court musician, indicating that Cristofori was already working on the piano by 1698. The first unambiguous evidence for the piano comes from the 1700 inventory of the Medici mentioned in the preceding section. The entry in this inventory for Cristofori's piano begins as follows:
Un Arpicembalo di Bartolomeo Cristofori di nuova inventione, che fa' il piano, e il forte, a due registri principali unisoni, con fondo di cipresso senza rosa..." (boldface added)
An "Arpicembalo" by Bartolomeo Cristofori, of new invention that produces soft and loud, with two sets of strings at unison pitch, with soundboard of cypress without rose..."
The Medici inventory goes on to describe the instrument in considerable detail. The range of this (now lost) instrument was four octaves, C to c″″′, a standard (if slightly small) compass for harpsichords. He was born in Padua,Republic of Venice.
4 May 1852 - Alice Liddell - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_Liddell
Alice Pleasance Hargreaves, was, in her childhood, an acquaintance and photography subject of Lewis Carroll. One of the stories he told her during a boating trip became the children's classic 1865 novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. On 4 July 1862, in a rowing boat travelling on the Isis from Folly Bridge,Oxford, to Godstow for a picnic outing, 10-year-old Alice asked Charles Dodgson (who wrote under the pen name Lewis Carroll) to entertain her and her sisters, Edith and Lorina, with a story. As the Reverend Robinson Duckworth rowed the boat, Dodgson regaled the girls with fantastic stories of a girl, named Alice, and her adventures after she fell into a rabbit-hole. The story was not unlike those Dodgson had spun for the sisters before, but this time Liddell asked Mr. Dodgson to write it down for her. He promised to do so but did not get around to the task for some months. He eventually presented her with the manuscript of Alice's Adventures Under Ground in November 1864. The extent to which Dodgson's Alice may be or could be identified with Liddell is controversial. The two Alices are clearly not identical, and though it was long assumed that the fictional Alice was based very heavily on Liddell, recent research has contradicted this assumption. She was born in Westminster, London
4 May 1966 - Jane McGrath - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_McGrath
Jane Louise McGrath, England-bornAustralian cancer support campaigner, and the wife of former Australian cricket fast bowler Glenn McGrath. Spectators at the SCG wear pink to show their support and sponsor logos in various places are also recoloured pink for the match. On 5 January 2013, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced an $18.5 million donation to the McGrath Foundation from the Australian Government. The funding allowed all 44 existing McGrath breast care nurse positions to continue and expand the program by 10 full-time equivalent places. She was born in Paignton, Devon.

2nd May 1970 - 50th anniversary of Hunter S. Thompson and Ralph Steadman at the Kentucky Derby - https://theathletic.co.uk/1783460/2020/04/30/an-inside-look-at-how-sports-shaped-hunter-s-thompsons-gonzo-journalism/
“The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved" is a seminal sports article written by Hunter S. Thompson on the 1970 Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Kentucky, first appearing in an issue of Scanlan's Monthly in June of that year. Though not known at the time, the article marked the first appearance of gonzo journalism, the style that Thompson came to epitomize through the 1970s. The genesis of the article has been described by Thompson as akin to "falling down an elevator shaft and landing in a pool of mermaids." Accompanied by Ralph Steadman's sketches (the first of many collaborations between Thompson and Steadman), the resulting story, and the manic, first-person subjectivity that characterized it, were the beginnings of the gonzo style of journalism. The article is less about the actual race itself – indeed, Thompson and Steadman could not actually see the race from their standpoint – but rather focuses on the celebration and depravity that surrounds the event. Thompson's depiction includes the events in Louisville (his home town) in the days before and after the Derby, and Steadman captured the debauched atmosphere in his surreal drawings. Thompson provided up-close views of activities in the Derby infield and grandstand at Churchill Downs, and a running commentary on the drunkenness and lewdness of the crowd, which he states in the article as the only thing he was focusing on with the work. The narrative ends with a bittersweet anagnorisis, somewhat common in Thompson's work; after several days of immersing themselves in raucous partying and alcoholism to get a sense of the event, Thompson and Steadman realize that they have become exactly the type of people they originally planned to caricature.
4th May 1961 – Malcolm Ross and Victor Prather attain a new altitude record for manned balloon flight ascending in the Strato-Lab V open gondola to 113,740 feet (34.67 km). - https://www.patriotspoint.org/news-and-events/world-record-balloon-flight-set-by-navy-at-113739-9-feet/
On 04 May 1961 Navy balloon pilot Commander Malcolm Ross and flight surgeon Lieutenant Commander Victor Prather (MC)  ascended to the world record height of 113,739.9 feet above sea level in their open gondola Strato-Lab. This record still holds today in 2011 for manned balloon ascent. The record-setting flight on 04 May 1961 from the USS Antietam was scheduled to test the new Navy Mark IV pressure suit. The Mark IV suit’s performance impressed NASA scientists and a modified version was selected  for use by the Project Mercury astronauts.  Strato-Lab remained in the air for 9 hours 54 minutes, and covered a horizontal distance of 140 miles during its flight.  The research goals of the flight were successful, unfortunately LCDR Prather drowned when he slipped into the water and his pressure suit filled with seawater.
4th May 2013 - Dr. Who And The Daleks enjoyed a rare theatrical re-release - https://www.scifihistory.net/may-4.html
On this day in 2013 (in the United Kingdom), 1965's Dr. Who And The Daleks enjoyed a rare theatrical re-release.  The feature starred Peter Cushing as the signature Timelord, and here's the plot summary as provided by IMDB.com:
"An eccentric inventor and his companions travel in his TARDIS to the Planet Skaro and battle the evil menace of the Daleks."
It was followed by Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. Filmed in Technicolor, it is the first Doctor Who story to be made in colour and in a widescreen format. The film was not intended to form part of the ongoing story-lines of the television series. Elements from the programme are used, however, such as various characters, the Daleks and a police box time machine, albeit in re-imagined forms. The Daleks were redesigned slightly for the film. They had larger base sections, which made them taller and more imposing than the TV Daleks, which were only about five feet high. They had large, red dome lights and some were fitted with a two-jawed mechanical claw instead of a plunger. They also had more colourful paint schemes. Standard Daleks had blue domes, skirt balls and fenders, and gold collars. A Dalek leader was painted predominantly black and a second-in-command in red. Originally the Daleks were to be armed with flamethrowers, but these were vetoed on health and safety grounds and because they were considered too frightening for a young audience. Instead, the guns produced jets of CO2 gas from internally mounted fire extinguishers. Some of the Daleks used in the background for crowd scenes were constructed from moulded fibreglass, and can be distinguished by the slightly different shape of the collars around their midsections.
