#i kept... procrastinating........... sorry to everyone who gave me a character for taking so long....#my art#digital#worm#wormblr#i like.. most of these 👍#ive struggled a lot with my alec design but i think im finally starting to get somewhere with him#that specific emma is from arc 5. her dad mentions taylors moms death and taylor lashes out and emma cant help from smiling#so she leans forward on the desk and covers her mouth#the sleeper.... ok so his whole deal is intentionally vague in canon#because someone told wildbow he doesnt need to explain every single deatail about every cape that shows up#so i was able to do whatever the fuck#basically his power is visually described as a not-rainbow storm thats large enough to cover a good chunk of a large city#out of canon wildbow says the only capes whod be able to survive his storm would need to be indestructible or have an impenetrable mind#so i thought yo. i recently watched a video about a short scifi horror story about how certain fractals make people die from looking at the#and the only person who didnt die from seeing the worst one had trained himself by looking at less dangerous fractals#so.. there the sleeper is ig.. a vague figure in the center of a giant fractal mess#i didn't INTEND for aisha to be looking at alec but no harm no foul. its kinda cute#anyway i spent most the day finishing this and now i think i dont wanna draw digitally ever again?

My favorite song for Act 1 may just be "Sucker". Obviously the lyrics, the melody, the tone all fit right to capture Jinx's perspective as things fell apart. But what puts "Sucker" above the rest for me is the loop.
As Jinx walks away from the remaining chembarons fighting for Silco's seat we immediately cut back to Silco, alive and stressed. In that moment it's like Silco's watching Jinx walk away. Suddenly the sequence isn't just a brief overview of the state of Zaun. It isn't just Jinx stewing in self-hatred and grief, it's Silco SEEING her like this.
For that split second, it's like Silco's ghost is stuck in place and he can see Jinx in her misery. Silco can see Jinx, but she's pointedly walking away, unwilling to look back, to be seen by him. If Jinx looked back maybe she'd see the mix of concern and frustration on his face for her, but she doesn't want to see it, she doesn't want to feel it.
Jinx would rather leave it all behind, but she can't because the entire chorus is punctuated by the sound of chains. No matter how much the lyrics say she wants to escape her life and the one she lost (Silco), it's impossible because the bond of love she shared with Silco is still holding them together, even in death. And Silco can see how she's let it weigh her down into a spiral of self-loathing and suicidal ideation, rather than carry it forward and live.

I think Viewing Monika as some Kind of evil Mastermind does her character a huge disservice for multiple reasons but also Just cause it ascribes her a Level of competence she simply does Not display
#like i just watched a video essay critizising ddlc#and they had a ton of complaints about the plot most of which boil down to greatly overestimating how powerful monika is#like no she is not in fact a god of her world who created the game she is just another character#forced to deal with the fact she was given self awareness#monika not having a route isn't her own fault for not simply writing one for herself#she actually tries to do that#in act two monica isn't keeping up the charade of this being a normal functional visual novel for shits and giggles#but because she's kinda trying her best to keep it together#and iirc she didn't stop with that cause she got fed up but cause she broke most of the rest of the game#and saying she goes from 'basically hitler' to contrite is just not fair to her#she was a teenager who got forced to deal with her reality being fake and then given one 'real' thing to cling to#and a power she didn't really know how to use properly that could change it#sorry that just kinda annoyed me#idk man#ddlc#doki doki literature club#monika ddlc
