name : majima goro aliases : mad dog of shimano & goromi ( hostess stage name ). position ( s ) : patriarch of majima family ( formerly ), lieutenant advisor of tojo clan ( formerly ), former captain of shimano family, president of majima construction, manager of cabaret grand ( formerly ), manager of club sunshine ( formerly ), hostess at club shine. race : human gender : male sexuality : bisexual relationship status : single, & divorced ( mirei park ) ; verse dependent. nationality : japanese age : 60 ( ages in real time ) birthday : 1964/05/14 birthplace : tokyo, japan. height : 6'1" ( 186cm ) weight : 80kg ( 176lbs ) scars : left eye gouged out beneath eyepatch, various scars across torso, back, legs, & arms.
family : majima haruu ( father ), majima asuka ( mother ) ; cut ties with both at a young age. shimano futoshi ( he sees him as a father ). mirei park ( ex-wife ).
majima goro was a violent yakuza, he was part of one of the most notorious families in the tojo clan, a family known for its violence against others, & even once he parted, & made his own family after shimano was diseased, it kept the same reputation as being known to be the most ruthless of the tojo clan, as well as the largest family within the clan, at one point, he had several thousand men under him, all loyal to their father.
whilst majima was quite the ruthless yakuza, he did have a soft, & caring side to him, though this was most of the time overshadowed by his madness, he would look out for people he cared about, & that usually extended to the people those people cared about as well. despite his madness, he is extremely intelligent ; he would be one step ahead of anyone, & could see a setup coming from a mile away, being able to alert daigo of any unusual activities that he had witnessed or noticed. while he was in the tojo clan, he was a valued member, the sixth chairman looked up to him a lot with majima being one of the longest running members of the clan.
eventually, with how things were headed for yakuza, majima reluctantly agreed with daigo and watase of the omi alliance, along with saejima, that it was time to disband the clan, & work something out to give yakuza like himself a new purpose in life, intending to make a security company.
a high school drop out, majima goro had grown up in a wealthy home as an only child that had been broken apart in a divorce, his mother had been reduced to alcoholism, & at the mercy of loan sharks, majima decided to run away, he joined a motorcycle gang that took him in after they saw how well he could hold himself in a fight despite his young age. eventually through this gang, he met shimano futoshi who had took a liking to the young man, & encouraged him on his behaviour. majima would eventually start spending more time with shimano, almost like an apprentice, he started to see shimano as a replacement to his biological father. once he was old enough, around the age of eighteen, he was inducted into shimano's family, officially becoming part of the yakuza.
it wasn't long after this when he met saejima who was actually part of the yakuza for a bit longer than him, but the two were within the same age group, they quickly became close friends to each other, & eventually became sworn brothers. he also looked at saejima's younger sister, yasuko as a sister of his own, as did yasuko start to look up to majima as a brother. he was content at life, completing his irezumi before the age of twenty, majima felt he fitted into the yakuza well.
eventually saejima would have been tasked a hit by his family, the sasai family, majima was asked to assist saejima as carrying out the hit was originally seen as something that would help the sasai family & shimano family climb up the hierarchy of the tojo clan. they had not realised it was a set-up at the time, the shibata family was in on this, & had issued warnings to majima to not go along with his oath brother ; refusing to do as he was told as it was seen as a betrayal to saejima, majima made to head to the location of the hit but was then was ambushed by shibata's men, not being able to fight all of them off, he was eventually captured, & subjected to a beating that resulted in his eye being gouged out. his other would have met the same fate if it had not been for shimano arriving at the right time, but things did not get any better for majima there, furious that majima did not follow orders, shimano subjected one of his former favourites to the hole, a place he sends yakuza to be tortured, & eventually beg for their deaths. this however did not happen with majima, majima managed to withstand it for an entire year. this had impressed shimano enough to give majima a second chance at life as a yakuza, but he wouldn't make it easy for majima.
left with shimano's oath brother of the enemy, the omi alliance, sagawa tsukasa, someone who is known for breaking the minds of younger yakuza, making them into mad men, this is fully what shimano had intended for majima. he had sent majima over to sagawa with the promise that he'll come back a mad dog, willing to do anything for him. eventually once majima has been through healing, & seems to be reasonable enough to not be a scare to society, sagawa tells him that he'll get him back into the tojo clan if he made one hundred million yen as manager of the cabaret grand. majima is desperate at this point to be back as a yakuza, & agrees to it.
nearly there, majima thinks he's finally done it while sagawa increases the profit margin, but offers him another way ; via a hit, having not ever killed anyone, just experience of roughing someone up, majima had been reluctant, but hearing of the kind of man this makoto was, he decided that it wouldn't be difficult. majima had gone into the hit thinking makoto was a man that exploited young teenage girls in a sexual manner, once he discovered makoto was in fact a young blind woman, he could not bring himself to carrying out the hit, it was not on his moral compass to do, he instead ended up becoming rather protective of makoto, & even grew to fall in love with her.
this causes a whole set of events to happen, including meeting the kijin family head, nishitani homare, who had pretended to complete the hit for majima. despite both being enemies, nishitani had took a liking to majima, he had originally planned to team up with nishitani to go & retrieve makoto who had been stolen away, although, she was in no real danger, & had been stolen away in order to protect her from the dojima family who were actively trying to secure a small piece of land that she unknowingly owned after the passing of her grandfather. it is later revealed to him that shimano had figured as much that he wouldn't kill the girl, but saw it as an advantage that she would willingly hand the lot of land over to him via majima. the dojima family had intended to kill makoto for the lot of land, & whilst she set up a meeting with the dojima family, she was shot down, majima at this point believing makoto to have died, went mad, fully intending to kill every single member of the dojima family, & their assassin off for what they had done. this was the birth of a mad dog.
as majima is about to kill the assassin, sera enters the scene, & reveals the news to him that makoto is still alive, that she's made a recovery, & urges him to not put blood on his hands over her sake, that she'll never be able to pay it off, & that it would be a guilt on her conscious that would remain with her for life. majima is reluctant to stop, but does it for her.
after the whole thing is over, majima is inducted back into the shimano family once more, he is made captain, he cuts off his hair, back to having his undercut shorter style, a style that he finds much more comforting, he decides to go wild with his choice of dress, opting for leather pants, and a snakeskin jacket with no top underneath, just showing off his muscled torso, & chest irezumi at all times, majima doesn't care that this would scare the majority of people away from him ... that's what he's aiming for, he wants to proudly show that he's yakuza, & will be remaining that way. he has a chance to meet with sagawa for a short moment before sagawa is taken out, & once again, meets makoto who has already met another man ... majima decides the other man would be better for her than he is, so he decides to leave it, but makes sure to threaten the other enough that he'll be as protective of her as he was.
deciding to remain in osaka for a while, as much as he hates the place, he met another woman, mirei park, korean & much younger than he was, & an idol, majima decides to date, & eventually have a secretive marriage with her, knowing that it would ruin her shot as an idol if word broke out about her marrying a yakuza, yet alone, a much older man. he wanted to have a family with her, but park decided that her career was more important, and aborted the child she was carrying without telling majima. majima finds out, & is furious, he lashes out, horrified at what he did, he ends their marriage in a divorce, & leaves osaka for good. he ends up becoming an even more violent yakuza at this, as a way to make him seem undesirable to any woman ever again.
majima continues to build a reputation for himself in the tojo clan, he becomes to be known as the mad dog of shimano, a rabid dog that will do anything its master tells it to. he even has a small family of his own starting of men that shimano saw fit to hand over to majima, so that majima would have some men under his direct command. shimano had decided that majima would take over his spot once he passed, although, not expecting to pass when he did, he left majima behind early who took over the majority of the shimano family, & made it into his own entirely. majima at this point had seen shimano as less of a father when he had came into himself more, & understood how toxic shimano would act towards him to keep him in line. something that shimano had not expected to backfire on him when he wanted a mad dog within his family. especially when his mad dog had taken a strong liking to the dragon of dojima ; wanting to pick fights with the dragon non-stop ; something majima was so passionate about, he would laugh shimano's threats of returning to the hole off.
remaining in the yakuza for a while, although, not agreeing with terada's way of things, as young as majima was at this point, he felt he was growing out of it. it was all coming down to what family could make the most money, majima knew when he put his mind to it, he could make an absolute ton of money which would put him at the top easily. he does so, but still, when one of his men step out of line, he decides to leave the tojo clan, intending to never come back ; he starts up majima construction as its president with the men who came with him, & more as he recruits those who called purgatory a home. despite being gone from the yakuza, he still finds himself being dragged into the mix by kiryu, asked to diffuse bombs by daigo, & even holds his ground against a good bulk of the go-ryu clan.
eventually, majima had grown bored of being a civilian. kiryu is leaving kamurocho, to go & live the rest of his days in okinawa, kiryu humours him in a fight so that he can request that majima returns to the tojo clan, & becomes daigo's righthand man. originally, majima doesn't want to be left babysitting a new chairman that could go downhill for all they know at that point, but he agrees since it was kiryu that requested it. he keeps his construction company intact, but ends up bringing most of its members back into the yakuza when he brings back his family into the tojo clan. daigo appreciates what kiryu has done for him, as much as majima may have scared him at first, he doesn't doubt majima's superior knowledge in this world ; majima ends up becoming the lieutenant advisor of the clan, a position higher than he had ever wanted, but again, since kiryu requested it of him, he would do it.
some years past, with some drama here, & there, majima's oath brother saejima breaks out of prison, and it's all over the news. majima knows that saejima is coming for him, a promise they made when they sworn their oaths to one another ... if one betrayed the other, they would fight to the death, & majima who keeps his promises, gives saejima just that ... saejima however does not end it when he manages to defeat majima, instead the two end up becoming closer than they ever had been in the past. majima tells saejima what happened, that it was all a set-up by shibata, & shows saejima the main scar he took from it all. still willing to allow saejima to kill him at the same time if he had wanted, but he knew his oath brother wasn't a killer, that even know he did not kill eighteen men back then, it still left the trauma on the other. majima & his oath brother are polar opposites as majima eventually through the years, had no issues killing, & did not feel remorse from any of the killings he did commit, saejima was traumatised by the men that he thought he had killed. majima had wanted to retrieve yasuko before it was too late, but his efforts were for nothing when she was shot down, & he was imprisoned by daigo selling him out, so he could not even attend her funeral. he does make yearly visits to her grave site alongside saejima. he is also there to welcome his oath brother back into the tojo clan, with the making of the saejima family, which majima borrowed some of his men to. mostly the men that were previously part of the sasai family.
not even a year has passed, & saejima is agreeing to go back to prison, majima is furious of course, but realises there isn't much he can do. he's very depressed over the whole ordeal, even missing in baseball which is an extremely rare occurrence for majima. he's also upset as he feels himself getting older. while saejima is in prison, majima fakes his death after an assassination attempt which only left him wounded. it allowed him to work behind the scenes, & go unnoticed for sometime. he even made contact with his ex-wife, with no interest of meeting with her however, he understood how crucial she was to the plot, majima had not intentionally wished to use her as bait ... as much as he hated her, he never wished to see her dead, but it lured out the traitor that he had expected. this did not go on for long as majima was found out by kurosawa who had wanted majima dead in the first place ; instead of killing majima off, kurosawa tortured him, and set him up to fight saejima to the death, fully intending for one of them to kill the other, & finish the job off himself on the worn out man ... but the plan didn't go his way as majima and saejima both refused, majima had only agreed to fight saejima, as he wanted a fight, but more so to protect haruka.
in the next years, japan starts to take a stand against the yakuza, the tojo clan officers were all arrested under the suspicion that they were involved in the little asia fire. he is arrested, & held in prison for a good deal longer here, only released once kiryu clears things up for them.
deciding that it is no good to go through with the yakuza any more, majima reluctantly agrees to dissolve the tojo clan with daigo, watase also decides to dissolve the omi alliance, making it so japan is now free from the two biggest yakuza organisations. the tojo clan officers are in hiding of course since their arrest is still called for after all the crimes they had committed over the years, they fully intend to make a security company to tide over any of their former members that need a new purpose in life, something that would better the lives of japan's citizens.
#﴾ MAJIMA ⸨ BIO ⸩#long post#/sorry for this word vomit on the dash#/i intend to link this in my pinned#/but yea thats it all done ! :3 until RGG8

I want to give a recommendation of one of my favorite shoujo manga by Yuu Watase is Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden. It has 40 chapters and has adventure, romance, fantasy, drama, and tragedy. This is the synopsis from myanimelist
Takiko Okuda is a strong-willed girl living in the Taisho Era. She needs to be strong -- Oosugi, the one man she's ever loved, is a married man; her mother is terminally ill; and her father, Einosuke, has not been home in over a year. When at last Einosuke returns, it's with a notebook full of Chinese scribblings that seem more important to him than the death of his wife. Furious, Takiko steals away his completed translation -- "The Universe of the Four Gods" -- with the intention of tearing it to shreds, but the instant she opens it, she's surrounded by light... And it is said that this is how the legend of the Priestess of Genbu began.
If you are interested I hope you enjoy reading and thank so you for reading this recommendation. Hope you have a wonderful day😄👍.
I've watched Ayashi no Ceres by Yuu Watase but not Fushigi Yuugi yet. Would you recommend the anime? I usually prefer anime over manga.
#it might take a while until I get to the series bc I have a huge ever growing list of recommendations#anon#answered asks

SENT FROM @stingslikeabee ― ( unscripted ask / always accepting )
Unless one looked at Melissa directly, it was safe to say that she could briefly pass for a native: wearing a kimono with reasonable ease and with the hairdo similar to many of the other ladies in attendance, it almost felt like she had been born and raised in Japan. In fact, her confidence while wearing the complicated attire and even walking in her shoes had a different origin - Dojima Yayoi. Her mother-in-law was both a teacher and a source of inspiration; they had grown much closer over the last few years, particularly after the wedding and once Melissa demonstrated how committed she was to carry out the duties expected of the next matriarch of the family. Yayoi had been mentoring the former hostess in all sorts of things, particularly for interactions with other yakuza - and maybe it was not so different from hostessing, but the brunette was picking up it all fast. The kimono Melissa had on had been tailor-made for her - a gift from Daigo, who had a matching set, and one that felt the woman with pride whenever they had a good occasion to wear it. The day was rather auspicious - the union of Daigo's good friend, Watase Masaru, to his own fiancée. Apparently inspired by his Tojo counterpart, Watase had decided to pursue a similar interest with a lovely lady from Kyoto who really was an energic and charming partner for his extroverted nature. "Do you think you have started a new trend, my love?" Melissa asked while they waited for the ceremony to begin, and the former hostess fussed with her husband's hair for the fifth time within the last half an hour; maybe Daigo was just perfect and his wife needed a reason to touch him, that was all, "Balancing chairman duties and a personal life, I mean. Should we prepare for the next one?" the woman smirked mischievously at him, gently holding him close in a half-embrace, "I would bet on Saejima-kun, maybe."
★. ―
Daigo muttered his thanks when they were led to their place to kneel. He helped Melissa down first, unable to hide his smile at how fluid performing the movement in traditional clothing had become for her. The Sixth Chairman bowed his head politely to a few other guests before he settled next to his wife. His coarse fingers smoothed out the wrinkles in his robe left from his descent ― with all of the stiffness in his legs and back ( a combination of old wounds and itching scars ), he was not nearly as graceful as Melissa.
When the former hostess began to speak, Daigo leaned in toward her. A laugh left him at her words ; though he tried to keep it quiet, the short bark of noise prompted the pair nearest them to frown. Daigo didn't seem to notice. He pressed his lips together thoughtfully while his wife fixed his hair ( again ).
Daigo considered her comments, but he wasn't able to focus on them for too long. The Sixth Chairman quickly became distracted by Melissa's beauty. She would look radiant in anything, sure ― but it was so special for Daigo to see her dressed this way.
No one could deny that Melissa Drysdell had bloomed into her new life as his spouse and unofficial Matriarch of the Tojo Clan. Daigo would even say that it suited her.
Melissa pulling Daigo close affectionately broke the spell over the Chairman. He bowed his head, pressing his lips soundlessly to the top of her brow, and smiled. The subtle smell of her floral hair mist wormed into his senses. Really, the yakuza longed to kiss her directly, but that public of a display would be seen as rude. It was important to remember the etiquette his lofty position bound him to. Attending the wedding of the Omi Alliance leader, especially when placed in such a honored position among the guests, was already a fragile enough action.
"I don't know who," he murmured, eventually drawing away to look at her. "I would have said Watase would be the last of us to think about marriage. However . . . prior to meeting you, I'm sure many claimed the same about me." Daigo chuckled softly.
"Saejima - san is a good guess. He is still seeing that ex - cop, right ?? The woman you had no involvement in him getting together with, I'm sure." The yakuza's eyes glinted mischievously as he teased his wife. She was a fabulous matchmaker ( perhaps the best of them all ). Melissa's innocent little expression caused her husband's grin to deepen.
"I'll wager on my uncle, then, too." Daigo took her hand in his and squeezed it momentarily. "You do have an eye for that sort of thing."
#ooc. He just loves her so much. In all verses. T.T#⤿ IC. ✕ ANSWERED#stingslikeabee#⤿ VERSE. ✕ YAKUZA AU ✕ THE FIRST LADY OF THE TOJO#⤿ ❤. ✕ WORLD ✕ MELISSA & DAIGO

Yakuza: Like a Dragon -7-
Tick... tick... boom.
With Kiryu gone, our next goal is to stop Sawashiro from getting a bullet to the head. Fun! But there are a couple of pit stops first.
The first thing I do is head to Kamulop to check out the Tojo Clan medal prizes. Turns out, there are now two Poundmates I can add to my collection for 50 medals a pop: Daigo Dojima and Watase. I decide to add the cuter one to my roster.
Next, I decide to get some really annoying Part-time Hero quests out of the way. The first is Please Find My Cat 1, a terrible fetch quest that I probably should have done earlier but chose not to. Finding these damn cats blind isn't my idea of fun, so I cheat and pull up a map. Oops.
We are then given a new quest: Please Find My Cat 2, which involves finding Hiro's cat Robson. I'm not a huge fan of these Part-time Hero quests, so I decide to look this one up as well just to save time. After rushing to Hamakita Park, I find the little cutie sitting on a lantern.
My prize is getting Robson added to my selection of Poundmates. Sweet.
Next is Kappture the Kappa, another long and pointless side quest that involves snapping photos of Kappa statues. I'm not sure how I could have done this one without a guide because my brother in Christ why would you hide a statue inside the bar why why why god why.
Turns out that wasn't the worst part of this quest though. See, I assumed I found all the kappas... until I saw that I had 9. I got so annoyed and was racing to figure out which one I missed, until I realized that I never took a photo of the first one. You know, the only one that is pointed out to you and is the easiest one to take a photo of because of it? Yeah. Not a fun time finding that one out. And honestly? The rewards for these missions really have not been worth it. Well, maybe it was worth it for Robson.
Now for the main course. I head to where Seong-hui told me to go to and approach the building Ishioda entered. I then get assaulted by several of his goons, who go down without much of an issue.
And there he is. The big bastard himself: Ishioda. Side note: this screen actually has a small piece of foreshadowing! But we can talk about that later.
Before we can even get close to Ishioda, though, Adachi suddenly appears from the door and attacks... Adachi... Oh noes! It's Mirror Face! Ichi and his team have trouble discerning the fake Adachi from the real one. A classic clone dilemma. Ichi susses out the real Adachi by testing his knowledge of local traffic codes. One Adachi struggles to give even basic knowledge, while the other rattles off traffic laws verbatim.
Naturally, the real Adachi is the one who doesn't give a shit about his (former) job.
The battle against Reiji (and Mirror Face) is long and drawn out. Mirror Face himself isn't too much of a pain -- the most annoying thing about him is that he starts guarding as his HP gets really low, forcing the battle to be prolonged even further and draining my MP like a mother fucker. Ishioda, on the other hand, is genuinely dangerous. He counterattacks pretty frequently, and his Gunshot attack one-shots Saeko and Nanba if not guarded properly, which is near impossible to do. Once his HP is low enough, he enters into his second phase where his normal attacks become weak, but his counterattacks become strong -- strong enough to one shot pretty much everyone that isn't Ichiban or Adachi. Thankfully, Zhao's Essence of Deadly Beasts makes quick work of him.
After Ishioda crumples like wet newspaper, he spills the beans on Arakawa's assassination. Ishioda attemped to kill him as ordered, but Tendo suddenly appeared and sent Masumi to the big kabuki theater house in the sky. So it wasn't Ishioda who got the kill on the Omi Alliance's number one target -- it was the double-backstabber Tendo.
Ichiban and his crew demand to know where Tendo is now, but before Ishioda can answer, we discover there is a bomb under one of the desks in the office -- a bomb that can be seen in an earlier scene! Foreshadowing! Aoki and Tendo order their henchmen to detonate the bomb, and...
Well, at least we got something out of that.

It took awhile for the full story to come out. They’d had to wait for Kimi to wake up, and be cognizant. She was being stubborn and the pain meds were kicking her ass.
It was Watase Masaru’s men that had found her, and the man himself had been close behind.
And it was Watase himself, that had pulled Richardson off of her.
The dissenting faction of Tojo had decided, for some reason, that Osaka was the best place to hole up. However, without seeking any kind of audience or permission, they’d stepped on Omi’s toes, and hadn’t been subtle about it.
Watase, was who had gone to deal with it. The plan had been to suss out the situation, and figure out if they had a new inter-city conflict on their hands. It turned into a bloodbath quickly.
Things probably would have gone worse for everyone had Kimi not been there.
The presence of the Chairman’s battered wife was enough to clue most people in that things weren’t quite what they seemed.
There had been a bit of argument as to what should be done with her, but Watase had put his foot down and made sure she was getting the best possible treatment, and all the necessary parties informed.
Unfortunately, it was also partially his fault Richardson had gotten a second chance, although Kimi argued that point herself when she could.
Kiryu was to blame, the would-be usurpers, and Richardson himself. No one else.
“Mercy” Kiryu had said, was the right answer, that letting him go was the right thing to do. Given Watase respected the man, he’d taken him at his word.
He’d been blunt in his apologies, and while Kadokura had wanted the man’s head (and many others), and Daigo was willing to accept some base token gesture, it was the Lady Dojima who had the last word.
Upon his arrival she'd been quick to make polite, albeit somewhat confusing introductions.
Her husband, he knew, the Tojo Chairman was not an obscure figure.
Then there was, "my wife and second mother to my children Ophelia". Odd but the woman had been a staple in their family for as long as anyone could remember. He'd never met her, but he was aware she existed.
"My- life partner? I suppose is apt, Kadokura Kenshi", another figure he was well aware of, but the claim was new. There had been affair rumors for years but to be so blatant and open? But then again, there wasn't anyone in the room who seemed discontent with the claim, barring the man in question himself, who seemed a bit uncomfortable.
"My wonderful children", her small brood was well known. The eldest set to take his father's place, and do a damn fine job of it, even he had to admit. The only girl a force of her own, albeit in civilian sectors. And the youngest, a well known hell raiser and one to watch for.
"Annnd my Mama. You'll probably miss Dad. This was a rather unexpected visit, and he had things to sort before he could fly out."
He'd done the proper thing and brought her polite gifts. He'd asked around, anyone who knew her, what the best choice was to make things less generic but not too personal.
She'd thanked him for the lovely flowers, yet more to add to the growing collection, and was delighted he'd listened to advice, and despite seeming mildly embarrassed, had in fact brought her a charming little plush.
He wasn't sure he deserved the way she beamed at him tiredly, given all that had happened.
Speaking of.
"Lady Dojima, I gotta offer my sincerest apologies for the second attack on yer person-"
She cut him off.
“Don’t be stupid. It’s not your fault at all. He wasn’t killed, so he was always going to find a way back. Even now I don’t trust that he’ll stay gone. But it's alright. I handled him back then. I survived him now. There is nothing he can do that I can’t deal with. Mama didn’t raise no delicate flower. I’m a stubborn weed with deep roots. I’m not going anywhere.”
He blinked at the rant, unsure of how exactly to respond, but finding himself with just a bit more respect for the not-as-frail-as-she-seemed woman.
Was it a ridiculous rant? Silly? A bit, but she’d always been that way.
And she wasn't the only one to address him.
Said “Mama” thanked the man for seeing her daughter returned to them, and offered a box of the fancy cigars from the homestead, or maybe some whiskey.
“We’ve got several flavors, all home grown and hand rolled. We do make proper whiskey, got some aged real nice in the barrels, or we have the shine if you just want your ass kicked by a drink. The apple pie is especially nice, if you ask me.”
He tried to refuse, he'd done nothing to earn it.
"Nonsense. Without you my baby girl would have bled out on those awful docks. We owe you, Mr. Watase."
Lady Dojima seemed to be flagging, understandable given the extent of her injuries. She tiredly waved her husband and … partner, off, telling them she'd be fine while they handled business.
What a baffling visit.
But certainly not a bad one.

... These people would lose it over like, when Earth Maiden Arjuna had an entire abortion episode. What about Nurse Angel Ririka SOS from 1995 with its last episode being the protagonist sacrificing her life to save Earth? How about Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, where you learn the dark magical girl, Fate Testarossa, was being beaten and abused by her mother and you then learn she's a clone of her mother's original daughter? How about in Jewelpet Twinkle, where Alma's, the antagonist, mother is in essentially a coma, so she went around acting out all cause her mom is gone via broken ass magic. Even Sailor Moon had Haruka and Michiru being willing to sacrifice Hotaru to save the world, who is a teen just like them. Chibiusa in Sailor Moon R was being hunted for murder multiple times as a small child after traveling to the past.
And if you want to go outside of just anime? Yeah, look into visual novels. The shit you will find in some of those games is INSANE. Alice 19th, a magical girl manga by Yuu Watase, has the protagonist almost be assaulted, her sister is wished away by her own magical powers into despair, and she gets frequently heavily bullied throughout the story. It's basically a coming of age narrative about a girl finally learning to stand up for herself, to not let people hurt her, and that she is allowed to feel loved even if she isn't popular, extroverted, and outgoing.
Magical girl media adresses a lot of topics, but Precure is usually on the lighter side. That's fine, of course, but I think strangers coming out to harass an indie developer on their game and embellishing a popular series' content leaves a bad taste in my mouth. :/ Also, the fucking racism, sick of seeing magical girl fans act like this (ie the "dark characters" complaints.)
mom the baby show fans are trying to pretend their baby show is dark again
#Earth Maiden Arjuna#nurse angel ririka sos#come on y'all precure is not dark#sailor moon#sailor moon s#sailor moon r#jewelpet twinkle#I have several other examples I could use#yes arjuna had an abortion episode#don't get me started on the amount of topics addressed in ojamajo doremi

Hii, thanks for participating! Could answer anything from D that you haven't already? I am in love with your takes omg
Bfjgfjdns thank you, I am but a creature with a lot of feelings
D) Let's get controversial
1. Who is the most overrated character?
Setting aside Kiryu for a second, to me It's Akiyama. I'll preface that I do like Akiyama, but I don't think he served enough of a purpose to be as lauded as he is. For me he served his purpose in Y4, in Y5? He could have been just like Hana, a phone call. And it shows by the fact that he is an absolute slog to level up. He doesn't have side missions like Kiryu, Saejima, Haruka, and Shinada. So you somehow have to get him leveled just enough in the story, but leave enough substories to do in premium adventure for when you uncap his level with Komaki. Cuz if you don't, it's literally just an endless run through the streets starting fights who give such piddly amounts of exp it hardly feels worth it.
And something about him being kowtowed to by Watase...mmmm ordered the salad but changed my mind I want soup instead.
2. Who is the most underrated character?
Kaoru Sayama. It really does bother me that her arc did fall off towards the end because what feels like not enough faith in the character on the part of the writers. Like they didn't think she was capable of being both a rip shit yakuza huntress while also being a love interest. They picked one love interest and in turn undermined all of what we saw of her. And to make it worse, they take a dig at her later in Y5 but calling her something like an embarrassment to the force, like Date-san hasn't been bumbling around like an uncoordinated bee. Even if she didn't last as a romantic partner of Kiryu's she still had potential of becoming a character like Date or Akiyama as a private detective or an independent contractor specializing with computers for substories. Kaoru is so thoroughly disliked largely at the fault of insecure writing and she the character takes the blame. There are also a small handful of people who believe in their One Ship (which pff, amen we've all got one) and dislike her because she somehow impedes upon it when you could just....write her as a friend in your fic, or not all, and leave it at that. That's what fanfic is for lol. Then again I can say all this to also say maybe it's better she ended up a one off, I'd hate to see what would become of her if left around considering what typically happens to women in this series.
3. Which character(s) do you believe should have never existed?
Mayumi. It's fucking cruel and insulting what she was in the story for. Her own dad using her as a spy, then to throw herself at Kiryu who has been up to this point pushing her away, hurting her feelings further. For him to say later "I had a job and I had a woman." You bitch you treated her like shit and have the gall to her "your woman???" It's so ugly. She didn't deserve that, and you know she never saw him again. That poor girl was given the bare minimum of a personality and then had her heart stomped on every step of the way. Mayumi deserved to just not be in this story to be spared the humiliation of having to be apart of Kiryu's tears in my beer era. They don't deserve you queen!
5. Which character do you this isn't portrayed well/is misunderstood by the fandom?
Mirei Park. Y'all have seen my long drawn out defense of her, but maybe I can write it this time without getting emotional (X doubt).
People see Mirei's recruitment of Haruka as an idol as a purely selfish act. But it's not, not entirely. I mentioned it in the previous ask that she saw the outcome of what Haruka's life would be, obviously not the specifics but did she not still end up as a mother of a handful of kids, only one being her own? With a guy who is nice, but is a guy who is just nice enough? Is he reliable? Burning down a whole chunk of town because you don't want to face reality and have to be talked down to by world's biggest hypocrite? I'm shaking my eight ball and asking the cards and they all say no, he is not.
"Well that's only because of the concert and that wouldn't have happened if not for Mirei." Not really, the only thing that would have changed is not having the baby. Haruka would have still rotted away on that fucking beach.
Yes, Mirei made threats to push Kiryu into letting Haruka go. And I've made this point before but if he had been more secure financially, he could have told Miss Ma'am to go. I don't need you and I don't your money, I don't need anyone's money - get out of my swamp. And please, Kiryu is a fully grown forty-six years old. To say he was bullied by Mirei is a bit of a stretch.
Mirei saw a star, and while she had her initial reasons, her arc is the telling of how working with Haruka revealed to her that Haruka was so much more (haha) than just the success she never had.
"But that's not what Haruka really wanted!" Yeah, but that's not solely Mirei's fault. Kiryu in the end pushed her because he thought she'd be better off (correct) and with Haruka's low self-esteem and feelings of being a burden to taking away from someone else because *gestures at her whole fucking life* she decides to put her best foot forward. If Kiryu had done a better job of making her feel secure and safe, she could have told Mirei to don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.
Mirei says wistfully that she got more than one dream back. We know that the abortion she had caused her to never be able to conceive (if I recall, people in Japan at one point could not get an abortion without the consent of the husband, and since she didn't tell Majima, you can use your imagination to the kind of physician she saw).
Haruka is both of Mirei's dreams. Haruka is both the star she never was (and well before Haruka even debuted at that), and the child she lost. You see the regrets she had, admitting that she felt she was just as much to blame in her marriage as Majima was. The age gap of the two aside, it was still a marriage of two very broken people who neither one had the communication skills or resources to be their best for each other.
Meeting Haruka was a sliver of making peace with the life Mirei had before. And had Mirei been allowed to fucking LIVE, I don't doubt that if Haruka expressed that being an idol isn't who she was, she would still have supported her as long as she didn't tuck herself away and settle because she thinks she's undeserving of something.
I feel like once again, because of not great writing, Akiyama and everyone saying THE CONCERT was Mirei's dream is walking back the biggest and most meaningful moments in that whole section of the game. It wasn't the concert. It was Haruka. Because we see by playing as Haruka that you can put her in that ugly Freddie Kreuger sweater and have her dance on milk crates and plywood that she's a fucking star and a show stopper, anywhere she goes, no matter what.
Mirei's biggest fault is not living long enough to see the conclusion of her own fucking character arc. From starting as this stone bitch to still being that, but willing to allow space for herself to feel and be introspective of what her dreams really were and sharing that with someone she cared for deeply.
8. Which character has the absolute worst moveset?
Tanimura. You were ahead of your time king, we weren't ready for you yet. I'd have to say though that Saejima is tied with him. For me he's just too bulky for me to maneuver...but that isn't saying much, I am pretty shit in general with beat'em up.
10. What's something everyone loves that you hate?
Other than my previous gripes? I don't hate Nishikiyama, but...I don't care either. I guess I'm not seeing what everyone else sees. Which now that I say it is odd considering Masato has a similar arc to Nishikiyama in relation to his siblingness with Ichiban, but I love his bitch ass. INTJ to INTJ communication I guess ¯\(◉‿◉)/¯
And with that wraps up all the D section for the Yakuza Questionnaire (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
#asks#kulemiwrites#i aint tagging this one either the gangs will get me just like they did markiplier

In Crafting Characters With Interesting Dimensions
Rimudo Roun is one of Yuu Watase's best male protagonists - one, he had an actual character arc that is inspired but does not entirely hinge on his love for the female protagonist, Takiko.
But most of what I love about Rimudo of how multi-faceted he is. He is a crown prince, and his real father is after his head. He grows up with his mother's attendants, always on the run. As a result, when we first meet him - he is ruthless and abrasive.
He has no problems saying harsh, practical things to the heroine of the story, even if what he says comes from a place of concern for her.
Seeing her treatment at hands of the people of the country:
Informs this set of cutting words that she interprets as him abandoning her:
We get all this to see a very prickly, cold person on the surface. But then you get his backstory by one of those who raised him, by an attendant who almost abandoned him as a young boy of 8. Rimudo blamed himself for all the deaths his attendant's family suffered as a collateral damage of his real father being after him. And one day, he tries to kill himself:
And his loyal attendant, begins to have doubts as he holds this young boy's hands over the cliff. What if he just lets go? What if he thinks of freedom?
And then, this stunning panel happens.
8-year-old Rimudo smiles at him. He realised what his loyal attendant was doing - and in what he believes is his last moments of his life, he is forgiving him. This act is simultaneously so kind, but also speaks of deep self hatred that Rimudo carries. And this panel alone makes him so alive to the reader.
"Kind" is not how you would choose to describe the man we first meet in the initial chapters, but when you retroactively read the series, it is there, laced under his ruthlessness and coldness. And even though he never quite loses his abrasiveness, you start to see this quality come through to the later half of the series as he becomes an emperor.
Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden's character work is wildly underrated and Rimudo (introduced as "wind demon" and ends up as "emperor" at the end of the story) is one of the best creations to come out of it.

Children Who Chase Lost Voices
“Children Who Chase Lost Voices” feels like a Studio Ghibli movie in the best way possible and proves that Makoto Shinkai deserves to be recognized as one of Japan’s greatest directors.
Asuna Watase practically takes care of herself. She does her own laundry, cooks her own food, and takes the initiative to do her own homework without being asked. This is because her father died when she was a little girl and her mother is always busy at work. She crosses a bridge and goes to the top of a mountain to be alone. She even has her own supplies up there. She spends her time listening to the music of a crystal with a radio that was given to her by her father. One day, when crossing the bridge to get to her clubhouse, Asuna is attacked by what looks to be a bear. A boy named Shun comes to her rescue. He claims to have come from Agartha.
Lately, I’ve been loving the work of great directors stepping out of their comfort zones. Makoto Shinkai has mastered the art of love in storytelling. “Children Who Chase Lost Voices” is him stepping away from his powerful romance stories to whisk the audience off to a fantasy land that rivals the dreams of Studio Ghibli. This movie does a great job of having me care for Asuna early on in the film. She’s a good girl who does what she has to with a smile on her face despite the sadness she hides away. She then gets thrust into a world of danger indicated by the sudden violence of a wild animal. The introduction of the bear creature startled me because I didn’t expect the movie to get so graphic. It really set the stakes of the scene in an efficient way. This movie also does a great job at introducing fantasy elements in a gradual way. All of the stuff in Agartha is foreign and almost alien in nature, but they all make sense because of the way this film introduces its concepts. The designs of Agartha are only complimented by the absolutely beautiful artwork showcased in all of Makoto Shinkai’s work. I say this every time I review one of his films, but I seriously mean it when I say that each frame is a painted masterpiece. The first act of the film feels like a normal film. Themes and plot points were being set up in interesting manners, so I was just enjoying the ride. The second act felt like a vacation for the mind. Agartha is such a peaceful place to see during the daytime. The movie spends a lot of time just showcasing the beauty of this hidden world. During the night, that quickly changes. With the monsters being able to travel through darkness, the entirety of Agartha becomes unsafe when the sun goes down. The third act was unexpectedly powerful. There are choices made that had me genuinely worried for the well-being of Asuna. Everything in the third act culminates into the ultimate message of this film. Then it becomes clear that “Children Who Chase Lost Voices” is an exploration of loneliness that comes from losing a loved one. It really stings in retrospect knowing that this escapist fantasy was a coping mechanism for a little girl who experienced losing her parents. This realization comes crashing down as the song “Hello Goodbye & Hello” starts to swell. The OST compliments the tone of the movie perfectly and I’ll definitely be listening to it from now on. If you’re looking to just be swept away to a faraway land, please consider watching this movie.

Why Tasuki Hates Women: Fushigi Yuugi Special Story: Part 6 (Final) - Miaka
“The reason why I started hating women”
(Ore ga Onna-girai ni Natta Riyuu) PART SIX (Final)
~From Fushigi Yuugi Perfect World compendium, Vol 6, 2005
(Author Nishizaki Megumi, who also wrote the Gaiden novels. Original work and illustration, Watase Yuu)
Translation is mine, any errors are also mine.
Above image of Tasuki and his sisters - Eimin (centre), Rin’an (top right), Manka (bottom left), Aidou (bottom right) and Fuyou (top left).
Scene:
The Seishi are en route to Hokkan (yeah, before all the nasty kicks off) and they’re taking a break. Tasuki is recovering from his seasickness, and Miaka is keeping him company in the way only Miaka can - by eating lots and asking him probing questions. Miaka tries to figure out Tasuki’s perfect woman and Tasuki explains his childhood traumas - all five of them ;)
This is a longish story so I am splitting it into parts where there are natural divides.
At the end of part 5, Tasuki’s sister Aidou had just noticed something...
“Shun’u. By the way, what’s that?” Aidou asked.
“Huh?”
“There. That thing on your right arm that looks like a character.”
Everyone turned to stare at the place on Shun’u’s arm.
“……For real.”
“It says ‘wing’.”
“Huuuh?”
“Hey, is that the thing that you mentioned that time way back, Ma?”
“No way…”
“It can’t be…Shun’u is…”
Everyone was speaking at once.
“Are you…the Suzaku Stellar Warrior, Tasuki?!”
Shun’u himself stared at the character on his arm with wide eyes of disbelief.
When the country was on the brink of destruction, a priestess would come from another world, and, along with seven stellar warriors, would save the nation. Was he really one of these individuals?
In the blink of an eye he realised that he would be released from his way of life up until then.
“Right, because I’m Suzaku’s…”
“The Seven Stellar Warriors can die in battle, though, right?”
“Even if he isn’t killed, up till the time Suzaku is summoned, he could be taken away.”
“No way. This is a problem…”
“It’s a real bother, honestly. How can someone become a stellar warrior just because they can run a bit fast?”
“Are you sure you didn’t just write it on your arm yourself for a joke?”
One by one everyone examined Shun’u’s arm.
His mother and his sisters were making a hysterical fuss about it all, but eventually, they came to a collective decision.
“Until such time as he’s called away to be a Stellar Warrior, we should make Shun’u work even harder!”
“Wh…Why?”
Crestfallen, Tasuki poked at his arm.
****************
“...It was at that moment that I decided to run away from home.”
“So that’s what happened.” Miaka said to Tasuki, who, by this time, had begun to get fed up.
“But Tasuki, your older sisters are healthy and pretty cool, really. And your mother’s a really good cook.”
“My older four sisters are all married now and have left home. They just come back when they get hungry for sukiyaki.”
“In that case, I like the hunger bug!” (NB This seems to be a play on words with suki and sukiyaki. It fails in English – it’s also joking on Japanese vocabulary knowledge).
Miaka sat up proud, answering like a proper examination entry student.
“That reminds me, Tasuki, do you not have a father?”
“I do. Now you mention it, he hasn’t come up in any of my stories so far, has he? He’s the kind who fades into the background so much that I never know what he’s doing.”
Tasuki continued.
“Apparently, though, in the past, my father had an active physique and a muscular body. But as the number of daughters increased, he had the life force sucked out of him by his womenfolk. I absolutely didn’t want to turn out like him. Although, the day that I left home, my father was the only one who covertly followed me in order to see me off.”
“Heeh.”
“I had the feeling that Dad was saying to me, you’re the only boy, go and live your life however you want to.”
“I see. So then you joined the mountain bandits..?”
“Mm.”
Miaka gave a small laugh.
“Tasuki, the first time we met, you lied to me and didn’t tell me who you really were.”
“Yeah. Because Reikaku-zan was more important to me than being a Stellar Warrior.”
“Because you hated women, you thought, like hell I’m gonna obey some priestess, right?”
“Something like that.”
“And yet, you’re here anyway. Well done.”
Tasuki stretched his body out.
“I wonder why I felt that way. I think it’s a bit mysterious even now.”
“I think that in the meantime, Tasuki, you’ve become able to find a woman you like now. Honestly, I don’t think it matters what your perfect type might be. If you fall in love with her, you’ll suddenly love everything about her anyway.”
“……Is that how it works?”
Grinning, Miaka nodded her head, and Tasuki stared at her intently.
“On the other hand, you really can eat a lot, can’t you, for a woman? Leave some for me!”
Tasuki reached out a hand to take one of the butaman, but Miaka pulled it out of his reach.
“Nope. That one’s the last one, after all.”
“What are you talking about? It’s fine, let me eat it!”
“No way, no way!”
They both climbed up onto the sideboard and the last butaman rolled around and around as they fought over it.
“But Tasuki, I thought that you were seasick!”
“Huh?” Tasuki stood still for a moment, then said, “now you mention it, I feel better.”
“That’s good. In that case, I’m gonna take lunch to Tamahome.”
With a big smile on her face, Miaka waved her hands in a wave, then turned, hurrying away in the direction of the ship’s main chamber.
Hating women, huh…
Tasuki allowed a rueful smile.
With Mum and five sisters, I really had enough of women.
And my dream is to become a man amongst men, like Hakurou had been. So why exactly am I here like this? Even though I had absolutely no interest in the Suzaku legend.
Tasuki’s gaze fell in the direction that Miaka had gone.
Maybe because you’re a kind of woman that, until now, I’ve not had around me?
That was it.
Idiotically direct.
Someone who doesn’t make a fuss about herself.
Clumsy, but always hard working.
Although carrying the burden of being Suzaku’s priestess, always trying her best.
Maybe it’s because that priestess is you.
It’s not as though I’ve stopped hating women.
But the priestess…no, Miaka…I’ll protect you and you alone.
No matter what happens, I’ll gamble this life and protect you, so don’t worry about a thing.
On board the boat heading for Hokkan, and through all the hardships they would face ahead, Tasuki felt a different wind beginning to blow.
The End 😊

My backlog is a mile long and guess what I am watching?
Yup, I am rewatching Moon Lovers.
And barely an ep in, I can feel the sweet sweet hit of drama fixation coming back in. Moon Lovers, despite being different in story, makes me think of The King In Love - where objectively it may have flaws, but it gives me my fictional kinks and my OTP desires so hard I don’t care and adore it to bits. (Amusingly, both are set pre-Joseon and have Hong Jong Hyun as a sexy prince falling off a cliff.)
Also, perhaps not coincidentally, the sweet sweet hit started the moment we saw the above, Wang So’s silhouette. The way the sequence starts is a great great invitation (or a warning sign, depending on your preference, I suppose) - this is no serious take on Goryeo, or a political fight or anything. This is (and I know I keep saying it, but it’s true) a Yuu Watase manga come to life, a romantic fantasy that’s going to be OTT and commit to it. Compare Lee Jun Ki’s Fourth Prince Wang So to Nicky Wu’s in the Chinese original:
Or even Jang Hyuk as Wang So in Shine or Go Crazy (which is next on my list btw.)
Moon Lovers is the shoujo manga of my dreams come to glorious OTT life!
I am 100% sure no Goryeo prince would be styled like a sexy ninja the way Wang So is - iron mask, flying hair, etc. But does it matter? Hell no. The closed off, calculating, intensely intelligent and introverted Fourth Prince of BBJX has little in common with Wang So of Moon Lovers but I actually love that. I adored BBJX so so MUCH. It broke my heart so thoroughly and was perfect. I don’t need another BBJX, I want its own thing and it gives me that in the tormented, screwed up, violent Wolf Dog.
From what I remember, people either loved him or hated him. And I’d be the first to admit that while probably benign for a 10th century royal, to modern eyes the man is hella problematic. But ehhhh - this isn’t real life and not the modern world either. If I was stuck in that period, I’d pick whoever would fight for me tooth and nail, however many bodies he piled up behind him. Keeping me alive is sexy.
Oh, and LJK is such a good actor. Even with half the face covered, he is so good at conveying longing in this brief scene (I bet he wanted this for his awful mother.)

The letters were laid out on his desk. Daigo read them over again, though the gesture was an almost entirely empty one. He had committed these words to memory so many times before, at least hourly since each arrived ; really, his eyes scanned them now out of habit.
The formal declaration of friendship between the Omi Alliance and the Tojo Clan was new and fragile yet. It was a document that Watase ( now formally the Omi Alliance’s Chairman ) and Daigo had drafted together after nearly one year of musing and dealing. They were an unlikely pair, but their shared values about the yakuza life and its purpose had proven to be a solid foundation for a fruitful partnership between the two organizations. It was in the best interests of the country : both the Omi Alliance and the Tojo Clan were steadily growing, which meant that the potential scale and devastation of a proper conflict between them only continued to increase as well.
In front of Daigo were correspondences from smaller families on the edges of Clan territory who faced difficulties with the peace between the two titans. Local gangs with modest weaponry had misinterpreted the Sixth Chairman’s declaration of an alliance as a sign of weakness and tried to take territory from a third - string Tojo Clan family. The ensuing skirmish had cost the life of a promising young man, and his family’s testimonies and cries for vengeance sat on Daigo’s desk.
The Chairman uncrossed his arms with a sigh and leaned forward. Dark - rimmed eyes and the curve of his back hinted at his exhaustion. Bent elbows found a place on the armrests of his chair, and his brow nestled into knitted fingers. Perhaps it was his fault for admiring how well life was going lately. It was full, certainly, but Daigo could safely say that he was the happiest he had ever been. His achievements with Watase were a part of that ; however, the majority of that bold statement lay in two personal reasons.
The first was his recent union to Melissa. Daigo had proposed to the love of his life some time ago. After accepting, she had started to transition into her prospective role as the soon - to - be Chairman’s wife. At Daigo’s insistence, the ceremony proper was held off until they were certain this was a life that Melissa wanted. It came with a heavy cost, and he would not accept her hand until he was sure she was comfortable with the price. She had argued regularly that she was glad to pay it ― any existence with Daigo was better than the alternative ― but her words had intentionally never pushed at him. They were gentle reassurances given after each new assumed duty ; after the change of her wardrobe to traditional clothing ; and after every grueling lesson in etiquette that Daigo’s mother ( brought briefly out of ‘ retirement ’ by her future daughter - in - law’s needs ) had conducted for Melissa’s benefit. After seeing how she had flourished, Daigo gave all necessary parties his blessing to plan for the event. Their wedding itself was private and small, though the celebrations thrown at headquarters and across Clan holdings at the news carried on for days.
The Chairman soon moved positions amidst in his reflections. He set the messages to the side gingerly and buried his face in the crook of bent arms laid atop his desk. It was a dangerous game that he played, and the risks became apparent when he lost. Daigo fell into a deep sleep. Even the sound of a key in the lock of his office door didn’t rouse him the following morning. Fond and exasperated murmurs were exchanged in equal measure at the open entrance.
“Anata.” A soft touch brushed black hair back, allowing light to creep into the protective shield of tangled limbs. Fingers moved over his shoulder and began to massage at his back through the plum dress shirt he wore. Daigo’s jacket and tie were draped over one of the small sofas in the nearby sitting area. Gradual physical and verbal coaxing eventually roused Daigo. He shook his head as he raised it with a grimace.
The yakuza yawned and stretched forward. Loud cracking rushed through his figure with the motion ; this imposing desk was not made for resting on ( contrary to how often he slumped into it ) and attempting to do so always ruined his joints for the day.
“You’re beautiful,” Daigo breathed when he finally looked at his wife.
Melissa chuckled. “Good morning to you, too.” She guided Daigo against her middle. He settled into the side of her stomach carefully, mindful of the swell of it ― the child growing there was his second reason. A strong arm rose to loop tiredly around Melissa. “Though, it seems like you should go home and rest up. You have a meeting with the officers later, Daigo-kun. They all sent confirmation that they’ll be here at two, so you have at least a few hours to nap. You’ll never make it through like this.” Her words were tender but firm.
“Mm.” Daigo hummed out the note thoughtfully. “As much as I hate to fight such a wise queen, I can’t. I need to have answers for them.”
Melissa’s gaze swept over the work on her husband’s desk. “This is the affair with the Tanaka Family? That you told me about yesterday?”
The Chairman unwound his arm from Melissa and leaned back in his chair. He didn’t trust himself to stand up yet : his limbs felt too heavy. A hand grazed through his hair, which was spread out in all directions. With a smile, Melissa took over fixing it. Daigo caught sight of the rings on her fingers. The first was from their engagement. It was a large diamond surrounded by smaller stones on a pristine, shining metal. Beneath it was a tungsten band from their wedding, on which the date of the ceremony was engraved. ( Melissa was unaware that there was a third and matching piece being prepared as a gift to celebrate the birth of their son. )
“It is,” Daigo affirmed quietly. Dark eyes lowered slightly, and his lips pressed together. The yakuza’s exhaustion was evident.
“ DAIGO. ” Melissa recognized that look. As soon as she released him, he would go back to his papers and bury himself again. The Clan’s welfare had to be his top concern, otherwise he risked losing track of its finer details and putting his growing family in harm’s way ; Melissa had found, though, that this meant Daigo often pushed back his own well - being. She and his closest officials were constantly checking in on him to ensure he ate, drank, and attempted healthy sleep. Sometimes, he was out of reach ― away from Headquarters on business only he could attend or swallowed by this imposing place ― but most of the time Melissa could snare him. She repeated his name now, drawing him back to her. “ DAIGO. ”
The Chairman’s wife slid her hands down to cup his face gently. “You work so hard to keep the members of the Clan protected. I know that.” Melissa’s honey - hued stare searched his features imploringly. “ ― but running yourself ragged won’t help. You can’t save everyone, darling.”
Daigo sagged into her embrace, clearly impacted by her words. Were this anyone else, he would have fought them. ‘ I can’t stop, ’ might have left his mouth. Instead, he raised his fingers and placed them over Melissa’s. Her rings connected with his rough skin. Daigo remained silent for a short while, but his expression gradually broke. The yakuza crumbled under Melissa’s unwavering gaze. How much he cared for the Tojo Clan was NOTHING compared to her love for him.
“I’ll have Yamamoto-san pull your car around,” Melissa continued softly. “The preparations for the officers’ meeting are done, but I’ll stay here to make sure. Go home and sleep ― please.”
Daigo inhaled deeply. Once Melissa had lifted her fingers away, he tried to stand. His back was stiff, and he ached fiercely. The Chairman kissed her. A brief touch rested on her stomach. “Promise me you won’t stress yourself,” he whispered.
“The hard work is over,” Melissa said confidently. She smiled, amused by his worry, and tapped his nose. “Remember, Daigo, I’m pregnant ― not fragile. ” The Chairman chuckled lightly and moved away to fetch his discarded garments. He yawned, further cementing his Melissa’s resolve, and walked toward the door.
