Here's a post to keep track of the content warning tags I try to use. I'll edit this post and reblog when they change- make sure you check the base post and not reblogged versions.

"moving" for videos and gifs

"scopo tw" for images and videos involving eyes looking at the user

"exclusionism cw" for posts discussing TERFs, aphobes, queerphobes, and other exclusionism in the queer community

"transphobia cw" for posts with TERFs or another kinds of transphobes and their ideas

"animal endangerment cw" for posts with an animal in a dangerous or potentially dangerous situation

If you follow me and have other stuff you want me to tag please let me know. I'll reblog this any time I update the list or tweak any of the tags.

Note that my queue is often hundreds of posts long, and it is hard for me to go through it and update tags on everything. So if you request a new tag, it may take a few weeks for me to get consistent with it as untagged posts potentially come through my queue.

I'm also not perfect and probably will forget things sometimes.

Hello! Is there a way to make it so certain tags (MCD) does not appear on the fic? (basically make tagged MCD Untagged MCD for you)

I’ve absolutely done this for myself. hidden the warnings I do not care about and leaving the ones I do.

I also deleted the No Archive Warnings Apply, because I definitely don’t need it. 😂. Like, nothing applies. good.

I have discovered why the back storage room of my parents house where the 2nd fridge and full size freezer are has been increasingly smelling of death since they left for thier vacation...

Found a bag of what was probably once frozen meat under the table the cleaning buckets sit on...

Only now it was fully of maggots.

Yup fucking inch long fat maggots throwing in party on the gray former meat mush inside a ziploc bag on the floor.

I full on almost threw up 3 separate times trying to scoop into a trash bag to throw in the bin outside.

Like why today Universe? I couldn't have found that a week ago when they first left? Or yesterday before the trash removal people came??? Just.. ugh. Worst ending to truly terrible day.

Question for people who know more about this than I do

If I put something on AO3 that very frankly discusses one of the warnings, but does not depict it or describe it, should I use the warnings or should I tag it “discussions of *insert subject matter*”

I ask because I HATE IT when people post things without the warning but tag it as such anyways, but in those cases it’s usually highly graphic, and in this case I’m not sure what to do.

Royals and Imperials Story Content Warnings

So, as you’ve seen with some of the other royal simblr pages, I will write out some Story Content Warnings and tag them from this point forward, classified as Warning, Trigger Warning, or MAJOR TRIGGER WARNING

Disclaimer:  This story is not suited for younger audiences as it does contain mature and frightening themes, plus language. Some posts will contain highly sensitive topics such as Violence, Death, Sexual Themes, etc. Please be aware of these.

Posts that Qualify for Warning

NSFW (sexual acts/discussed sexual acts/implicated sexual acts) 

Cheating/Infidelity

Slurs or Verbal attacks on other races, sexualities, people with disabilities, etc.

These will NOT be posted under the cut going forward.

Posts that Qualify for Trigger Warning

Assault (In any form, be it Physical, Sexual, Verbal, etc.) 

Miscarriage

Any mental illness or crisis (Including PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, etc.)

Alcohol or Drug consumption

Death of a loved one (Their bodies may be shown in a morgue scene or during a funeral)

Abduction/Missing Individuals

Murder/Attempted Murder

Vehicular Accidents

Stalking/Harassment

Blood

These will be posted under the cut going forward.

Post that Qualify for MAJOR TRIGGER WARNING

Repeated Abuse (in any form)

Captivity

Violence or mention of violence

These, like the trigger warnings, will be posted under the cut with a warning not to read if you are impacted by it, and a request to message me if you want me to summarize what happens in posts with this warning.

If I have missed any triggers or warning tags, please don’t hesitate to message me and let me know. I will update this as the story continues.

PSA: AO3 warning tags

Unfriendly reminder to readers that "chose not to warn" on AO3 can cover ANYTHING that might otherwise be warned for. That tag says here (might) be dragons; you might encounter underage, noncon, violence, etc. If you find those things in that fic, you don't have the right to yell at the author or say you weren't warned. "Chose not to warn" literally means you were warned that any or all of those things might be in the fic. Chose not to warn doesn't mean there's nothing there that needs a warning. Proceed accordingly.

Unfriendly reminder to writers: "no archive warnings apply" means no archive warnings apply. If you have said no archive warnings apply, then do not put major character death, rape/non con, graphic violence or underage in your fic. If you have any of those things in your fic, you have specific warnings for all those things, and also you have the choice to use "chose not to warn"; there's no excuse to blindside your reader by saying that none of those things appear in the fic and then actually putting them in.

Writers: if you're using "no archive warnings apply" AND another warning tag, you shouldn't be using NAWA. You are giving your readers mixed messages and misusing NAWA. Don't do that. It's not cool. No warnings apply means no warnings apply.

Readers: if you see CNTW, even if it's there with NAWA, proceed with caution. If CNTW is the only archive warning given and then there's MCD or violence or rape or underage in the fic, you were warned, just not specifically. Don't yell at the author. It's not cool.

In an ideal world, AO3 would allow you to either pick NAWA or one of the other options, and everyone would read what CNTW meant and would recognise they might find anything on a fic tagged that way.

Out here in the real world, people have put misleading warnings on their fics because they didn't understand or didn't know or (unlikely but possible) are arseholes out to mislead people, and others have never read what chose not to warn means and then are surprised when they're caught unawares by something they didn't want. If we as a user base are more careful about how we use warnings when we post, and actually read the descriptions of tags and understand what we might find when someone uses CNTW when we are reading, then that will help.

But please: if you use NAWA make sure it actually means no archive warnings apply, and if you click on a fic that says the author is choosing not to warn, don't complain when you read something you don't like that the tag absolutely covers.

These two things will make AO3 better for everyone.

I just have a question: the ship I’m super into rn involves two brothers (specifically Ed/Al/Winry from Fullmetal Alchemist). As long as I put my fic behind a cut+with a warning, is it alright if I submit it to the collection? Thank you!

Hi. Yes, you can submit it to the AO3 collection as long as it's tagged appropriately.

We will also reblog on the tumblr if it's warned for and behind a cut/read more. Reblogs of works that we know contain incest will use the tag 'warning for incest' so that anyone who wants to avoid it can block the tag.

It's not come up yet but we'd also tag any works with selfcest/doppelcest with 'warning for selfcest'. However, we're not familiar with all the fandoms we might come across for the blog so if we ever miss off a tag for either of those things, or for other things that may need a warning, please let us know.
