Chapter 17 <- Chapter 18 -> Chapter 19
Today was the first day you had nothing planned. Just you and your thoughts. You slept in till noon until you decided to get up and make some pancakes. The boys had fully stocked all of your favorite things before they left. You had no business being in the cafeteria without them- Johnny's words, not yours.
It was kinda nice actually. You’re not sure if you've ever had a full day to yourself your whole life. You dragged your desk chair outside on the patio to eat your pancakes. You even made friends with a pigeon. When you went back inside you decided to look up yoga tutorials on TV. Couldn't hurt to be flexible, could it?
It was a new feeling of freedom. You didn't have to worry about any housemate or watch yourself to make sure you weren't a disturbance. You could play music and sing as loud as you wanted. You could learn a new dance. Try a new recipe. Or you could just sleep all day and no one would be able to judge you.
You decided on a bubble bath.
It was that time of night again. Choosing between who's room you wanted to crash in. Your eyes darted back and forth between Kyle and Johnny’s room. Yet there was a tingling sensation at the base of your neck at the thought of John’s room. He never gave you explicit permission and you had never slept in there before.
But he doesn't seem like the type to get mad at you for that. Maybe in two days, your scent will wear off and he won't even notice you slept in it. You were on high alert like a bandit about to be caught. Your knees nearly crumbled as you opened the door to his room. His scent permeated into every surface, your eyes lulling closed. You shook yourself awake, making your way over to his bed. There was a jitteriness about you, the flesh under your skin buzzing. Something wasn't right. It wasn't cozy enough. You huffed back to your room grabbing pillows and an extra blanket, getting to work.
You kept John's pillows against the headboard and added one of yours to the side of the bed against the wall and one on the other side so you would be cocooned in the middle. His blanket and top sheet were pulled tightly against the bed and you tried your hardest to climb in without disrupting them. You folded your blanket and laid it down on the edge of the bed, so your cold feet would have a few extra layers. You held your jellyfish close to you and nuzzled your way under the covers.
Heaven. That was the closest way to describe it. You were quite proud of the nest you had made, well John did help- unknowingly. You gasped softly, your eyes snapping open.
A nest. You had made a nest.
You had only ever done it in your heat and when you did it then you had no materials to work with. You have heard that some omegas nest even when they aren't in heat. Happy ones at least. You grinned curling up on your stomach, your face melted against his pillow.
“You smell that?” John asked, stepping inside. They carefully putting their bags by the door, trying to not alarm you. Johnny groaned from behind him.
“Happy girl,” he commented. The tightness and anxiety his body was storing slowly ebbed away at the smell. He knew that scent. It was extra strong when you were sleeping since you weren't able to hold anything back. He could picture you in his head, curled up against his chest, a sleepy smile on your face with very little awareness of your surroundings. Your soft skin twitching under his rough hands, warm from absorbing his body heat. Your warm peachy scent developing an undertone of cinnamon and spice from his. It sent a shiver up his spine, the hair on his arms standing up.
“Go take a shower. You'll get time with her in the morning.” John yawned. He made his way to your bedroom with the intent to check up on you, only to realize his door was open. His eyes had adjusted to the darkness quickly and he could make out a rather apparent lump on his bed. Although you wouldn't take up that much room. He snuck over a smile etched on his face. Warmth spread through his body at the sight before him. You were comfortable enough to not only sleep in his bed, but make a nest out of it. The overwhelming urge to crawl in there with you made his shoulders twitch.
He quickly made his way out of the bedroom, making his way to Johnny’s bathroom. He didn't want the sound of water to startle you and he couldn't climb into bed with you stinking like he did.
“She nested,” John spoke peeling off his clothes.
“She did? In her bed?”
“No, mine,” John clarified quickly.
“Great, now it's going to smell like horny, pompous alpha in here.” Johnny groaned, scrubbing at his scalp, making room for the broad alpha under the running water.
He picked the clothes out of his closet quietly. It was about time he used his training for good.
“Sweetheart,” he greeted. He didn't want to be on the receiving end of those claws if you got scared. He’s seen the damage they could cause. Your eyes opened harshly, making him wince.
“You’re back?” you couldn't quite believe it. They weren't supposed to be back for another two days. You pushed yourself out of bed, your fingers holding onto his shoulders for dear life. “Why are you back? Is everything okay?”
He hummed in assurance.
“We were able to finish up early,” he explained. “Came back as soon as possible.”
The truth was everything was different. They were different. The team had always been “the best of the best”, but with the addition of you, they had turned practically untouchable. It was easier to move, easier to think, and most importantly they had a reason to get home. It might've just been luck, but they knew instinctively there was a change- a natural one. Their bodies transforming into vessels to protect and provide for you. It has been that way forever, consequently why the government has always taken advantage of this evolution. That didn't matter now.
“Is Johnny back?” you mumbled against his shoulder.
“Yes. He's tired though, already crashed,” it was a lie, one he was hoping you wouldn't investigate. It wasn't that he wanted to keep Johnny from you, he wanted to keep you from Johnny. He knew the Scot would get you curled up in his arms before John could blink. It was his turn to have you. “Let's get you back to sleep, pretty girl,” John sighed, setting you back down in the bed, and tucking the sheets tight around you once again. He crawled in next to you, his arms wrapping around you trapping you against his chest. You nuzzled your way closer, a now familiar warmth spreading throughout your body. You were safe.
“So happy you're back,” you mumbled, already growing tired again.
“Me too,” he whispered, keeping his lips pressed against your temple.
“Is it okay that I nested here?”
“Course. I'd be happy to leave it if you wanted. I know you like to cuddle with the betas, but I wouldn't mind being worked into that routine,” he chuckled as you smiled against his chest.
You squealed as you were picked up and spun around. Johnny held his grasp on you as he flopped down on the couch, you perched atop of him. You leaned down peppering his face with kisses.
“Thank you for not being gone too long,” you smiled against his cheek.
“Had to get back home to our girl,” he purred, flipping you on the couch so you were under him. His blue eyes were sparking, making you feel a bit nervous. He was inspecting you. “Can I?” he asked softly, his forehead resting against yours.
“Please,” you whispered. He wasted no time connecting the distance. You were a bit unsure what to do. All your kisses with John had been little pecks.
“Relax, hen. Follow my lead,” he murmured, making your lips tickle. You did and once you found your rhythm you didn't want to pull away. Your hands clasped behind his neck, pulling him as close as possible. He chuckled against you, his smile interrupting the kiss. “Knew you’d get addicted,” he smirked.
“You’re right, come back,” you murmured, pulling him back down. He gasped but quickly regained his footing, hoping to keep you occupied long enough for the burning of his cheeks to disappear. He wasn’t used to someone so responsive. Eight times out of ten he had to instigate physical contact, but you were so accepting and matched his effort. You whined as he growled against you, pulling away before it all became too much. He chuckled against you as you panted, kissing across your cheek stopping just below your ear.
“Thought about you a lot you know. It was hard, especially at night. You were alright here by yourself, aye?” he questioned, his eyes softened to a point that it made your breath hitch.
“I was alright, Tavy,” you assured, resting your forehead against each other.
“Peaches, I need to tell you something”-
The door sprung open. The words “I love you” getting caught in his tongue.
“There you boys are,” John was the first to greet them. You shimmied out from under Johnny and he let you, watching as you nearly tackled Kyle to the ground.
The force of it knocked Kyle back into Simon.
You growled as all you got were scent blockers instead of fresh linen.
“I know, lovie, I know,” Kyle soothed. “Fuck,” he groaned, your scent hitting him like a tidal wave.
“Steady yourself,” John chuckled. You wormed yourself away from Kyle and wrapped your arms around Simon. He ran his hands up and down your back and you gave him one last squeeze before pulling away- not wanting to push it. “You’re both good?” John hummed, his hands resting on Kyle's shoulders. Kyle dived in for a hug and John quickly reciprocated, the feeling of finally being home settling in. You figured it was time to allow them some privacy and so you bounded into your room to change out of your sleep clothes.
“Can I talk to you two?” you questioned, closing the patio door behind you. They were having a smoke. Simon hummed in acknowledgment putting the cigarette out so you wouldn't be forced to breathe it it in such a small space.
“Something wrong?” John asked, putting his cigar out as well.
“Not really, but something happened while you two were away and I think you should know about it,” you explained hesitantly. They shared a look, before Simon nodded his head towards the inside. You took the hint as he opened the door for you. It wasn't that you didn't want the betas to know, you just felt that the alphas would want to be the first to know. “I went out with Priya one day”-
“Who’s that?” Simon interjected. John looked over, smacking him with his leg.
“Let ‘er talk,” he directed.
“I met her at that breakfast in the park thing. We have hung out a few times,” it was partially a lie. “Anyways, we were trying to figure out what to do and she said that the hospital had a rec center so we went there.” You paused trying to get a gauge on them. Their faces were like stone. You began losing the confidence you had.
“Go on,” John encouraged, his voice soft.
“Well she left to go to the bathroom quickly, and it was right across the hall. Then this doctor came over and he thought I was a freelance healer so he grabbed me and”-
“Grabbed you?” Simon interjected again.
“Where?” John pressed. You tucked your arm into your sweatshirt, pulling the hem up to show them the bruise on your upper arm. It had faded a decent amount since the incident, but there were still greenish-yellow fingerprints.
“Name,” John commanded.
“I'm not done,” you asserted. They were stiff in their seats now, John was trying his hardest to be level-headed. How many times did they have to prove not to fuck with you? This had been one of the reasons they were so unsure about an omega to begin with. “He grabbed me and put me into a room, with two”-
Simon stood up, heading towards his room to collect one of his balaclavas. He and John couldn't just stay home after this information.
“Simon, keep it together,” John snapped, his eyes still trained on you. He knew nothing too bad could've happened to you. You were fine last night- fuckin’ glowing actually.
“One was an alpha I had never seen before, the other was a beta. The beta that had attacked me by the water fountain.” John’s breath hitched and you could feel Simon stiffen from behind you. “He apologized and begged me not to hurt him,” you nearly chuckled. “I know that you two handled it- obviously, but he was talking about Lieutenant Hale,” you peaked over your shoulder at Simon. He had his back turned to you, his head facing the wall. “He wanted something with me- the beta didn't know what. I'm sure you both know much more than I do, I just wanted to let you know,” you finished.
“Thank you”-
“Thank you?” Simon snapped. “You’re on house arrest,” Simon growled pointing at you.
“What?!” you exclaimed, standing up yourself. “I'm not a child, Simon. You can't do that.”
“Like fuckin’ hell I can't. Until you can learn to not be abducted, attacked, or threatened by bloody strangers you're not leaving this fuckin’ flat,” he snarled.
“John, do something, please,” you begged, turning to John.
“I agree with him.” John sighed. “Not for long but until we figure out strategies to keep you safe,” he reasoned.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” you sputtered. “It's not my fault these things are happening,” you shot back.
“No one is saying that”-
“Simon just did! He said and I quote “Until you can learn to not be..” he blames me!” you recalled.
“It's not forever,” John continued, trying to diffuse the situation. “Your incidents happen when you are left completely alone. We just need to make sure you're not”-
“You can't do that. You two have enough control over me as it is!” you spat. “I know it's the destiny of an omega to be under the pack's thumb all the time, but this is ridiculous and I think probably illegal.”
“Now I know it may feel like that at times but we do it to protect you,” John said.
“Not that it's working,” Simon grumbled.
“Fuck you, Simon,” you growled. You couldn't believe the turn of events. Just yesterday you had your hand down your pants thinking about them and today you didn't even want to be in the same room. You wished the betas were here. You wished you never said anything. Simon's deep chuckle made you falter. Your mouth opened and closed like a fish, as he raised a hand to his mouth to stop the sudden onslaught. “Are you laughing?” you muttered.
Truth be told he has never enjoyed you more than right now. You, of all people, cursing at him with complete rage. Even now, your face scrunched in confusion and lingering anger, your whole being flushed with a beautiful heated glow.
“Alright, pup. You proved yourself. You're still on house arrest but just till we go on leave. Then hopefully people will have moved on to some new drama by the time we get back.” He sighed, heading towards the front door, John following close behind. Leave was scheduled for three days from now.
“Wait, are we still fighting or not?” you questioned slowly.
“I can keep going,” Simon smirked.
“No,” you replied a bit dumbfounded.
“Did I win? I feel like I won,” you mumbled, the adrenaline slowly wearing off.
“Whatever helps you sleep at night, pup. Come on, let's go get dinner.”
“What is happening?” you murmured, beginning your trek to the door.
A knock on his office door caused him to raise his head. He flinched at the sound, harsh against the silent hallway.
“Come in,” he sighed, spinning his chair around to face the door. The door opened slowly and the reveal had him shooting up from his chair.
“Dr. Malcolm?” Kyle clarified. Johnny followed behind him, shutting and locking the door. “Easy, mate,” Kyle soothed his hands extending forward. “Just here to ask a few questions,” Kyle offered a smile, sitting down in one of the other office chairs. “At least I am. That one over there is still a bit worked up,” Kyle chuckled, nodding his head towards the Scot leaning against the door. The glint in his eyes was heart-stopping and Kyle’s relaxed nature only added to the uneasiness in the air. “Now we heard her side of it and we saw what happened on the cameras but I think it’s only fair if we heard your side of it before making any rash decisions,” Kyle explained. “Right, Soap?”
“There’s a lot riding on your answers. That’s for sure, doc,” Johnny spoke.
“He’s right. I imagine it being hard to do your job missin’ a few fingers, yeah?” Kyle hummed. The doctor was leaning against his desk now, knees too weak to do anything else.
“I'm not afraid of you, punks,” Dr. Malcolm managed. Kyle winced.
“Strike one,” Kyle tsked, as Johnny took a few steps forward. Dr. Malcolm quickly held his hands up, shaking his head profusely.
“Wait, wait,” he pleaded. “Alright. I made a mistake. We get freelance omegas from holding housing all the time to help with healing. I just assumed she was one of them. Honest mistake,” Dr, Malcolm sputtered, his hand still surrendering.
“That’s interesting,” Kyle sighed, coming to a stand, his broad shoulders blocking most of the light from Dr. Malcolm's frame. “Because to me, an honest mistake would you be askin’ her if she was a freelance omega. Her saying ‘no’. You takin’ that ‘no’ as an answer and going about your day. Not you dragging her down the hallway as she fights against you. Your fingers leaving bruises on our girl's arm,” Kyle finished. “You get that, right?”
The reasons behind why they wanted to take his fingers becoming more and more clear to Dr. Malcolm.
“You’re right. Completely and utterly right. I'm ashamed of myself, honestly,” Dr. Malcolm appeased. “I can transfer,” he offered. Kyle’s eyes widened a smile spreading across his face.
“That's a brilliant idea,” he praised, making the doctor's shoulders begin to relax. “But that's unfortunately not going to work for us,” Kyle became tight lip, a disgustingly fake sorrowful look on his face. “You see if we just let you go, then that's sends a message, that anyone can just come in and make our omega feel unsafe”-
“I didn't know she was yours!” Dr. Malcom nearly sobbed.
“Well, we’ll just call that strike number two then,” Kyle cleared his throat. “Now you know. And when you walk out of this office, everyone in the building will know too,” Kyke smiled.
“Gonna be missing a few pieces, though,” Johnny grunted, heading towards the doctor. The doctor's shout was quickly cut off by Johnny’s hand.
“Not to worry, mate. Sure you can find someone to attach them back,” Kyle smirked.

I beg for more slasher 141 pleeeease 🫶🫶🫶🫶
Part 2 to this <3
Warnings: Dark!Fic/DDDNE, hopefully that's obvious. Gore, slight torture, infidelity (not by 141). Fem!Reader.
“Thank you for staying with me,” you hum, leaning up from where you sit on the bathroom counter to plant a kiss on his stubbled jaw.
“You know you don’t have to thank me, sweet girl.”
John finishes wiping off the last of your face mask, grabbing your moisturizer and gently rubbing it in with his fingertips. Wiping his hands off on a towel, he bends down to press a kiss to the luscious layer of fat beneath your chin. You giggle and wrap your arms around his neck, allowing him to lift you by your ass and carry you back to his bedroom. Yours is far too lonely right now, and frankly, John likes having you all to himself from time to time.
He lays you down on his cozy bed, making sure you’re all warm and comfortable beneath the covers before he strips himself of his clothes. You smile at the sight of his body, muscular and strong but with some fat on his gut. Tufts of dark hair make themselves known all over his torso and teasing a delicious crescendo down his tummy, the peak of which concealed by his boxers. John climbs into the bed beside you, pulling you into his arms and coaxing your head to rest on his cushy chest.
“John?” You ask softly.
He hums, tilting his chin down to see you better. You bite your lip, about to tell him to forget about it, but he senses your unease.
“What is it, darlin’?” John sits up and rests his back against the headboard, pulling you onto his lap so he can look into your eyes.
“I-it’s nothing. Just… earlier, when I was in the bath, you said… you said I’d get a turn on that guy soon enough. What did you mean by that?” You fiddle with your hands nervously.
“What’s it sound like, sweet girl? The boys are bringin’ him back, figured you might wanna join in on the fun,” John explains, big hands kneading the plush of your waist. “That somethin’ you wanna do?”
Your breath hitches in your throat. You know what they do, of course, but you’ve never actually been involved in a kill. They’ve never even exercised the idea of having you help until now. It’s overwhelming.
“I-I don’t… I-” You stutter, your chest starting to heave with anxiety.
“Shh, baby, it’s alright. You don’t have to if you don’t think you can handle it,” he coos, baby blues softening as they stare you down.
“I- can I just… talk to him? Before you do anything?” You ask quietly, resting your trembling hands on his shoulders.
“Yeah, darlin’. Whatever you want,” he whispers, cusping the back of your head and pulling you down for a tender kiss. “Let’s get some sleep, hm? We can talk more about it in the mornin’. Sound good?”
You nod at the same time he readjusts back into the previous position, his back to the mattress, your head on his chest, legs all tangled up. Sleep comes easy despite all the chaos you’ve been through today, snuggled up with one of your protectors.
Typically, you’re woken up with a pair of lips trailing kisses down your neck, or the smell of breakfast cooking in the kitchen. Today, however, it’s the pained screams of a man being dragged around outside that startles you awake. John’s not in bed when you open your eyes, and it makes your heart drop. This is all too real. Your men are expecting you, one way or another.
Nervous hands pull one of John’s sweatshirt’s over your trembling body, followed by a clean pair of his boxers. It’s hardly appropriate clothing considering what you’re about to involve yourself with, but it smells like him and you could use some comfort right now. Not even bothering to put shoes on, you carefully step down the stairs and walk outside, eyes frantically searching for the source of the pathetic sobs.
When you find it, the sight causes bile to rise in your throat. Simon’s holding the man up by his armpits, and there’s a burlap sack covering his head. His knees are broken, calves protruding forward where they should bend back, and upon further inspection, you discover that most of his fingernails have been ripped off. Tears flood your eyes when you finally find your voice, a whimper escaping your throat. It alerts Kyle whose head instantly turns in your direction. He beckons you over, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
“This is him,” he whispers, kissing your temple soothingly.
“How are you so sure?” Your bottom lip wobbles as you look up at him, eyes wide with fear and remorse though you’ve done nothing wrong.
“Checked your dashcam, dove,” Kyle explains, massaging the shoulder his hand rests on. “Looked him up online. Real clean-cut fella.”
“Sick fuck has a wife, three kids,” Simon joins in with a sneer. “Guess where we found him?”
“A fookin’ motel,” Johnny answers before you get the chance. “Shaggin’ a prostitute. Paid ‘er a fair sum fer ‘er silence. Nae cop would listen tae ‘er anywey.”
John is the last to arrive, tool belt full of sharp weapons jangling with every step he takes. He calls your name but you can’t tear your eyes away from the living ragdoll. The bile has settled itself back into your stomach, and in place of your uncertainty is a gnashing anger begging you to do something about it. In the back of your mind you know you can’t do any true harm to him, but you’re going to do something.
You gently pull free from Kyle’s hold, stalking toward the weeping man. There’s no tremble in your hands when you pull the burlap sack off of his head, letting it fall to the dewy ground. It’s definitely the man who harassed you, there’s no doubt about it—from the dirty blonde hair adorning his head to the ugly scar that runs across his cheek. He opens his eyes to look around, and when they land on you, he lets out his most pathetic wail yet.
“No! F-fuck, is that- are you- fuckin’ bitch! You… you fuckin’-” He sputters, and that familiar voice makes your head pound.
“Does your wife know you’re a pervert?” You ask calmly. “How about your kids, hm? Do they know Daddy likes to go around touching women who aren’t Mommy?”
“Y-you don’t know wh-what you’re talkin’ about,” he defends, hot tears falling down his flushed face.
“Don’t worry, they’ll never know what a sorry excuse of a man you were. Do you think they’ll mourn your absence when you’re reported missing, or are they so used to it that it’ll be a weight off their shoulders?”
“Fuck you!” The man shouts the best he can through a raw throat, and you laugh, leaning in closer to whisper into his ear.
“Not a chance.”
As you turn to walk away, you pretend not to hear his screams as your men drag him into the barn, nor the sounds of Johnny’s chainsaw roaring shortly after.

Master List
Twelve
Synopsis: in a world where alphas, betas, and omegas live along side modern humans as second class citizens, you've fallen through the cracks of a society that wants to take everything wonderful from you. Luckily a timely encounter with the boys just might save your life.
Chapter summary: Yoongi takes you on a date
Warnings: slight angst (mostly talking about her past), mentions of past abuse, homelessness, fear of abandonment
Honestly yall its a lot of yoongi and oc being freakin soft 😩
Yoongi was only slightly disappointed to find you awake and making breakfast with Hobi in the kitchen when he came in after eight in the morning. He'd kind of been hoping to be able to take a peek at you in your nest, just to see for himself that you were as safe and cozy as his other omega had promised (many times) that you were last night. Although he hadn't been gripped by the same agonizing fear he had known for the month you were gone, he still hated being away from you so long last night, and he'd texted both Jimin and Hoseok multiple times last to assuage his anxiety (and his guilt). They'd promised him that you had nested just fine, had eaten well and seemed perfectly happy with Jimin's company before peacefully going to sleep. It was cute just how much he worried about the details.
"Yoongi!" You said his name brightly when you saw him and rushed over to give him a hug. You were too energized from a good night's sleep and the cup of fresh squeezed orange juice Taehyung gave you to be self conscious about it. You didn't seem to notice the flour on your cheek until Yoongi brushed it off with a smile. "Oh sorry. I'm probably getting you dirty," you said as you tried to pull away. He held you close.
"I don't mind. Good morning," he hummed as he rubbed his chin over the top of your head.
"M-morning." Yoongi's arms tightening around you turned to jelly when you'd been solid only moments ago.
How can he be so warm? He must be tired and hungry.
"Can I get you some pancakes?" You offered, and he finally loosened his hold.
"Only if you eat some with me. Have you eaten yet?"
You shook your head. "But I need to help Hobi."
The omega waved a hand at you without looking back. "I can handle it. If your alpha says eat, then it's time to eat. Which you know. She kept saying she didn't want to eat until you got here," he added just to make you squirm. A small whine escaped your throat, drawing the attention of all the men, whether they intended to look your way or not. "Careful, girl. Your whines have power here," Hobi smirked as he set two plates in front of you and Yoongi on the counter.
You sat down and ate quietly for a few minutes while Yoongi tried and failed to pretend he was paying more attention to the food than to you. Jin and Jungkook were laying on the couch, nearly falling back asleep after stuffing themselves before anyone else got up. Jimin had gotten up to take your place helping Hobi while Taehyung and Namjoon sat at the table sharing the newspaper.
"What do you want to do today?" Yoongi asked after several minutes.
You swallowed and cleared your throat. "I have to work later."
Yoongi's fork froze halfway to his mouth. "What? why?"
You shrugged. "I work Saturdays."
"You work six hours a day, six days a week?" You nodded. "That's too much."
"I-I thought you d-didn't mind me working…"
Screwed it up already. Now you'll see how he really feels. The pancakes in your stomach turned to lead.
Yoongi could see you getting nervous, watched you grow even smaller. "No. No, I don't," he managed, forcing his voice to be calm. "I don't mind you working if it's what you want. But that's a lot. Thirty-six hours is almost full time but no benefits. That just seems…sketchy."
You tilted your head at him. "What do you mean?"
"Just that it seems like your employer is taking advantage of you. Do you get any benefits?"
"Well, I get heat leave."
"But what about health insurance? Vacation? Extended sick leave? What if you get pregnant?" Yoongi could feel all the air leave the room and wished he could take the words back.
You shook you head and spoke softly, "Yoongi, I'm not–"
"I know. I didn't mean that. I'm an idiot. I swear I didn't mean it like that. I'm just saying, those are things you'd expect in a full-time job."
You shrugged. "It's not like I have a lot of options, Yoongi."
"I know," he sighed. "I just want you to be treated fairly."
You stood from your stool and walked toward the stairs. "People like me don't get treated fairly."
Yoongi got up and followed you, catching your arm as gently as he could. "I'm sorry. For what I said and how I said it. I know that you've been doing the best you could, and I have no right to judge that. Everything is okay." His hand laid hot against your neck, thumb stroking just the bottom edge of your scent gland. When he felt your shoulders relax, so did his. "Come finish your breakfast, and when you're ready I'll take you to work."
You turned worried eyes up at him. "You worked so hard, alpha. You must be tired. I'll finish, but then you need to go to sleep. Jimin and Tae will take me."
The corners of Yoongi's mouth turned up in a placating smile. "Okay."
He watched you walk back to your seat at the counter and pick up your fork, ignoring the eyes of the others as he joined you. He wanted to talk it through with you more, but he wasn't going to make you do it in front of everyone, and he didn't want to get into an argument before you went to work all day. Instead, he asked you how your night was and what you did the day before, and you plastered on a smile that slowly became more natural while you told him all about nesting and your newfound love of pillows.
When you'd both finished eating, you took your plates and washed them along with the others, no matter what Hobi said. You couldn't sit down and relax now. Doing so would only create nervous energy you wouldn't be able to dispel. You'd have to spend the rest of your day in motion. Yoongi followed you again when you went up the stairs to change for work, and you'd be lying if you said it wasn't a little annoying.
At the top of the stairs you turned to look at him. "Are you going to follow me around all day?" You snapped.
Yoongi took a step back. He honestly didn't even realize how close he was. "I'm sorry. I wasn't intending to." He rubbed a hand over his eyes and you could see how tired he was.
You crossed your arms over your chest. "What are you doing?"
He sighed. "I was going to sleep like you'd suggested. I think I was following you because…"
He wants to sleep in my nest.
The realization dawned on both of you. "It's not time yet," you said softly, but eased your defensive stance.
Yoongi met your eyes with equal tenderness and smiled a little. "Yet?"
"Yet," you confirmed.
Somehow the idea that there was a future nest he would be invited into was enough for him. "That's alright."
You turned on your heel to walk to your room, but he called you back. "Would you like to go on a date with me tonight?"
"A date?"
"Yeah. If you don't have any plans."
You raised an eyebrow at him. "Why?"
He chuckled. "Well, I told you we could date as part of our courtship, and I would like to get to know you better."
"But…" you looked at him with an expression of such utter confusion that he wished he had a camera to document it.
"But what?"
"I just…I don't want you to force yourself to take me on a date if you aren't attracted to me."
It was Yoongi's turn to be utterly lost. "Whatever gave you the idea that I'm not attracted to you? I'm your alpha."
"Yeah, I know, but I feel like you're just doing this, taking me in because you want to protect me, because I'm so helpless and pathetic. And you were so cool about not breeding me. Plus you have all the guys, and so I just guessed you weren't thinking of me that way." You wilted under Yoongi's amused gaze.
He snorted. "Princess, I do want to protect you because you are incredibly vulnerable, but that doesn't change my attraction to you one bit. And there's a whole world of intimacy between protecting you and breeding you. It's vast and we should go slow, but a date is a good start. That is, unless you aren't attracted to me."
Blood rushed to your face as you felt put on the spot. What kind of omega wouldn't be attracted to the alpha he was? What person wouldn't fall for his gentle, caring demeanor? But you couldn't possibly admit to it.
Yoongi stepped closer to mark the top of your head with his scent. The embrace only lasted a few seconds before he pulled away, but it still left you weak in the knees.
"I don't have anything to wear."
Yoongi shrugged. "It will be very casual. No one will see you but me. You can wear pajamas for all I care. Bonus points if you wear one of my hoodies."
You smiled at that thought. "Okay then."
"Good. Then I'll see you tonight," he told you before he turned and went into the pack bedroom to sleep.
Yoongi was pleasantly surprised to find an apple-scented pillow in his usual spot and let himself enjoy it for a few minutes before his memory from last night came back to him.
He had brought a patient to the emergency room of the hospital he had brought your ex-alpha to a few nights ago. After they filled out some paperwork, Yoongi and his partner took a break. His motivation was unclear, even at the time, but he found out what room the alpha was staying in from a nurse that liked to talk to him whenever she got the chance. She told him that he was still in the ICU, but that he was in a coma, and hadn't woken up since the night he was brought in. When he found the room, there was a woman inside. A tall redhead, an alpha as well, if Yoongi wasn't mistaken, so he steered clear, but it had stuck with him the rest of the night.
When he heard you, Jimin and Taehyung leave the house, Yoongi got out of bed and went to the living room where Jin and Jungkook were still on the couch.
"Is everything okay, Yoongi?" Jin asked when the alpha only stood over them without saying a word.
"I need to ask you some questions. Legal questions," he clarified and sat on the coffee table opposite them.
"What's on your mind, hyung?" Jungkook sat up to give him his full attention.
"I found out last night that her ex-alpha–"
"His name is Sebastián," Jungkook added.
Yoongi growled. "He's in a coma. And I just need to know what's going to happen to her if he never wakes up. And I guess, what happens if he does?"
Jin sat up and shared a look with Jungkook before he spoke. "If he doesn't wake up, there would most likely be a grand jury investigation, which would determine who, if anyone, was responsible for his death."
"In that case, the blame would likely fall on the driver, since she has already been charged with drunk driving. It would be manslaughter," Jungkook added.
"But she said she pushed him, in her statement. That won't matter?"
Jin shook his head doubtfully. "She could get charged, but in my experience, if you put that girl in front of any judge or jury, there's no way they wouldn't chalk it up to self defense. If he does survive, it wouldn't even make sense to press charges for assault. He wouldn't look very sympathetic. But whether or not she's charged criminally, if he dies, his family could bring a wrongful death suit to civil court. But again, it will be hard to make her look like a perpetrator, especially since they're both Lykos."
"You seem confident that she'll be okay?"
"I am," Jin assured him.
"But what if she had a motive?" Yoongi worried.
"You mean because they knew each other?" Yoongi nodded. Jin thought it over, rubbing his finger along his lower lip. "The prosecution would have to prove she meant to push him into traffic and not just to get him off of her. In that case, she'd just need to be coached not to take the bait."
"Could you do it? Would you take the case? If it came to that, I mean." Yoongi didn't know any other lawyers, and he certainly didn't know any he thought he could trust with something like this more than Jin.
He must have been able to read that emotion in Yoongi's eyes because Jin nodded. He wouldn't take that trust for granted again. "If she needs me to, of course, Yoongi. I'll do anything for you."
You were surprised when Yoongi said he was taking you to a drive in theater. You'd hardly been to any movie theaters at all in your life, and never a drive-in, but you liked the idea of it. There were lots of benefits to it. You got to go out to a public place, but sitting in his car was relatively private. The movie removed the pressure to make conversation, but on the other hand, if the movie wasn't very interesting, you could talk through it without disturbing anyone else. It was really a perfect idea for a first date.
He'd urged you to take a nap when you got home since the movie wouldn't start until later, and you were glad you'd taken his advice. You didn't have much to choose from when it came to clothing options, so you simply put on a clean pair of jeans and the mustard yellow hoodie he had loaned you a few days ago. Yoongi seemed pleased enough with your ensemble, repeating his compliment of how nice you looked in that color. He wasn't dressed up at all either, wearing a pair of ordinary jeans and a baggy long sleeve shirt. You wouldn't know it because he wouldn't say such a thing, but there wasn't anything you could wear that would look more appealing to him than his own clothes, because they made you look like you were his. He beamed at you when you came down the stairs to leave with him.
"Do I look okay?" You whispered to Hoseok.
He pinched your cheek. "You look adorable. He loves it. Believe me." He winked at Yoongi over your head and the alpha held out his hand to take you to the car. "Don't come home too early," he instructed as you went out the door together.
Once you got settled in the front seat, Yoongi cleared his throat before he started the engine. "This is for you," he said as he handed you a brand new Samsung phone.
"Oh, I–"
"Before you say you don't need it, just consider that it's for me. I want you to make sure that you have it with you and it's on all the time. I told you that it's important for me to know where you are, so I can keep you safe, so you need a phone. And don't worry, it's not like the newest model or anything. Besides, remember you're agreed to let me provide for you. So just accept it. It has all of the pack's numbers saved already, in case you ever need one of them, and they all have your number already. I'm your emergency contact," he rambled.
Instead of offering any protest you smiled softly and unbuckled your seat belt to lean over and kiss him on the cheek. "Thank you, alpha," you said before you leaned back into your spot. You may have wanted to refuse, but he was right, it was for him and not you, not really. If he needed you to carry this thing around in order to feel more secure, that shouldn't be hard for you.
You weren't prepared for more gifts when you got to the drive-in. When you found a spot to park, Yoongi told you to wait while he got out of the car and went to the trunk. You looked anxiously through the back window, but couldn't see anything that gave away what he was doing. Eventually he pushed a large gift bag and picnic basket through his open car door before he joined you again.
"What's all this?" You wondered, looking at the tissue paper sticking out of the huge bag at your eye level.
"Why don't you open it and see?" He teased.
You narrowed your eyes at him as you got up on your knees to be able to look over the bag, but your scrutiny only made him smile. Pulling out the paper piece by piece revealed two soft round pillows inside, one lavender and one orange.
"I figured you needed some pillows for your nest. I thought these could remind you of me and Jiminie."
Your cheeks and your eyes burned as you pulled out the two pillows, almost ball-like except for how plush they were. They squeezed nicely in your arms when you held them to your chest.
"Do you think they'll be okay?" Yoongi asked, beginning to feel nervous when you didn't say anything.
You buried your head in them to hide your wet eyes. "They're perfect." Your words were muffled, but they still warmed Yoongi's heart. When you collected yourself, you placed the pillows safely back in the bag and set it aside. "What's in the basket?"
"Oh, I asked Hobi to put together some snacks for us. But if there are any other treats you want, I'll go get something from the concession stand." Yoongi opened the top of the basket and you both reached for the box of raisinets at the same time. You whispered an apology while Yoongi plucked them out. He opened the box and handed it to you. "I'm going to go get some popcorn. Do you have a drink preference?"
You shook your head and he got out once again to go get more snacks. You shoved a few raisinets into your mouth and put the rest away. Then you pulled out the soft orange pillow from the gift bag at your feet and held it close again. You wondered if he'd already scented it, or if it was your imagination that applied the orange aroma.
The longer he was gone, your mind began to wander. It was hard not to think about all the first things you were experiencing lately. Your very first completely safe, self- made nest, your first drive-in movie, your first date. It had felt like you'd been living for years, in the most raw way possible, but maybe all you'd done was survive, and only barely. These new things seemed so small and insignificant to you when they were only abstract ideas, things you would live without because you didn't need them to survive, but now they felt monumentally important as each one carved a memory in your heart. And each one was available to you only because of Yoongi.
The man at the center of your thoughts broke through them when he returned several minutes later carrying a large bucket of popcorn, which he handed to you, and a large coke that he balanced on the dashboard.
"Is everything okay?" He asked, taking in your expression, which remained pensive as he settled into his seat.
You forced a smile, not because you weren't feeling it, but because it wasn't a thing you were accustomed to showing. "I'm fine. I…" you searched for something to say that would take you away from your thoughts. "I didn't even ask what we were seeing."
Yoongi chuckled at himself. "Oh. Yeah. It's actually a horror movie. I was actually hoping we could see the comedy that's playing on the other screen, but it was sold out, so this one was left. But if you don't like horror movies, I was thinking we could just sit and talk. Or we could leave. Or if we're really bored we could turn on the radio station for the comedy and watch it with the horror scenes."
You laughed at his ridiculous idea, but thought it actually sounded kind of fun. "Well, I do like horror movies, but option three also sounds interesting," you admitted with a smile that almost stopped his heart.
Yoongi cleared his throat as he looked out the window. "There's still like twenty or thirty minutes before the sun sets and the movie starts. Maybe we can still talk?"
You began to get the feeling that this was what he actually wanted to begin with. He had said he wanted to get to know you, and you supposed he had a right to know the person he was taking in, but at the same time you didn't want to overwhelm him with all of your baggage, at least not in one night.
"What do you want to talk about?" You hedged, shoving a kernel of popcorn past your lips.
"Well, I just really want to know more about you, but I don't want to be unfair, so you can ask me anything you want to," he offered, turning in his seat to look at you.
"I don't know what I could tell you that Jungkook hasn't already. I mean, he must have run a background check on me, right? And he would have told you before he let you take me home?"
Yoongi shook his head. "Jungkook hasn't really said much, actually. I mean, yeah, we do know about, um, where you were before you came to the city," he said diplomatically.
"You mean jail?" You asked provocatively. "You can say it. Unless it makes you uncomfortable, which I understand." You knew you shouldn't be getting your hackles up with him. He approached the subject gently and here you were, striking back with your claws out like the alley cat that you were. You closed your eyes to try to calm your racing heart.
He placed a hand on your shoulder. "Y/N, it's okay. I'm not judging you. No one in the pack is, either. You're not the only person to get arrested, you know."
You opened your eyes and looked at him incredulously. "Have you been arrested?"
Yoongi nodded his head. "When I was sixteen. A friend and I stole his uncle's car and went for a joy ride. I was just a passenger, and I hadn't presented yet. They dropped the charges."
"Wow, grand theft auto," you chuckled and he did too.
"My point is, we all have a past. I mean, some of us more than others, but you're not the only one."
You eyed him uncertainly. "Did he tell you what I was arrested for? I wasn't just arrested Yoongi. I spent six months in county."
Yoongi nodded. "I know, but I'm not judging you for what you had to do."
You shook your head with a wry laugh. "That's the thing. I didn't do it. I mean yeah, she made me go out there, but I promise you I didn't sell my body. Honest. That was my first night. I may have been naive, but I'm not an idiot. The first guy I talked to was a cop, and I knew it. I could spot him easy, so I offered myself up and I let him arrest me. And when they charged me, I pleaded guilty. Do you know why?" Yoongi shook his head, dark eyes locked on yours. "Because going to jail was better than going back to my alphas."
Yoongi kept his face neutral despite the anger he felt bubbling below the surface of his skin. He'd never ever question your decision, but he would always feel angry that your situation was so bad that jail seemed like a viable alternative for you.
"You said alphas?" He questioned when he managed to speak.
"Two of them," you said with a nod.
"And one of them was female?"
"Yeah, they were husband and wife."
"How did you meet them? I mean…he's so much older."
You grabbed the coke from the dashboard and took a long drink to clear the lump in your throat. Yoongi's eyes never left you, but you tried to ignore him. "I met her first. I was on the streets. I was almost seventeen by then, but I'd been on my own for months. She just started talking to me one day when she was volunteering at a soup kitchen…offered me a place to stay. And I was desperate enough to not question it."
"So she just…took you in off the streets?" You nodded. "And then what?" He asked as if your story was the one he had bought a ticket for tonight.
"And then…and then everything seemed normal for like a week. They just seemed like a regular couple. They had a spare room and they needed help around the house, so I would clean and take care of the house in exchange for living there. It was several days before I realized they actually wouldn't let me leave. I hadn't really been on heat suppressants yet, and when that time came around I found out that the real reason they wanted me was because they wanted babies. They couldn't have any on their own, so they would use me. Like some fucked up puppy mill," you choked out.
Yoongi reached over to pat your back, but you flinched away from him, and he could understand that you wanted your space after such a revelation. He took his hand back and tried to think of something to say when all he wanted to do was rage on your behalf. But he knew it wouldn't do you any good. "It makes sense that you were so frightened when two other strangers took you off the street. You must have been very scared."
You looked him straight in the eyes. "It's only been a few days. Shouldn't I still be scared?"
It wounded Yoongi deeply that you felt that way, but he could hardly blame you. He knew it wasn't about him exactly. "I'm sorry. I know there isn't really anything I could say to reassure you that you're safe with me but–"
"It's okay, Yoongi. I do feel safe with you. It's different. The way I feel when I think about you. When I'm near you…I feel safe but…" you looked out at the narrowing strip of pink sky to your left.
"But what?"
"I've been taken in so many times when I think I'm at my lowest. When I was abandoned as a baby, when I met those other alphas, when Eli came to play big brother. And never, never has any of it actually made me safe."
"I hope–" Yoongi could feel the tears at his water line, but they would stay there. He bit his lip and looked away as well. "I hope you'll stay long enough to know that you will be safe in our home."
You looked back at him finally and noticed the collar of his unbuttoned button-down shirt was crooked. Reaching over to straighten it, you assured him, "as long as you keep it safe for me, I won't have anywhere else to go."
Yoongi took your wrist gently before you had the chance to pull away from him. With his fingertips against your pulse point, he could feel the strong, steady beat of your heart, not high enough to be panicking, but still a little anxious. "I will do everything I can to make you feel safe," he promised.
Before you could make any kind of response, the lights over the parking lot shut off and images began to play on the screen in front of you. Without another word, Yoongi released you in order to fiddle with the radio, tuning it to the right station for your movie. You both settled back into the seat, facing the screen, with a mountain of snacks in between you. You each tried your best to focus on the movie, but you could feel it every time his eyes slid toward you as he watched your profile instead of the characters on screen. Every time you turned to look at him he recentered his attention, but he was fooling no one. Several times your hands brushed when you both reached into the popcorn for a salty snack, and he would chuckle awkwardly before pulling away.
You both tried to focus on the movie, but the truth was that it did nothing to hold your attention, not with Yoongi right beside you.
"There's something I don't understand," you said abruptly, causing Yoongi to look quickly between you and the huge screen. The movie had been pretty straight forward, to the point of being pretty boring.
"What?"
"Why do you like me? Why me?" Yoongi laughed openly while you pouted. You pulled your feet under you and turned to face him straight on, giving up any pretense of watching the movie. "Don't laugh. I'm serious. I mean. I don't know. I guess I'm trying to understand your intentions because I want to believe that this won't be like before but I…I'm scrawny and dumb and there's nothing interesting about me. I'm not even pretty enough to make up for it all. And there are plenty of needy omegas in this city. So what could you possibly want me for?"
Yoongi's humor subsided, and he turned the radio down before moving to face you as well. His expression was serious but his eyes still held light. He reached over to brush back your hair so he could see your face in the scattered light from the projector.
"I don't think attraction is ever really about those things. Not how someone looks or what they have to say, but how those things resonate with you. It's an elemental, a chemical thing. I just like you. Maybe that's why Hobi and Jin think we're fated mates."
"Fated mates?"
"I don't know. It's kind of…lykos folklore. Sort of what saps think of as soulmates. Like, it just feels right with someone, like you're linked to them even though there's no real reason. There's no proof that it's real. It's just a feeling I guess. But they say it only happens with alphas and omegas. And I don't think I believe it. I don't know if you feel that. But I do feel drawn to you in a way that I never have with anyone else. I don't even think attraction is the right word. I just feel like…I need to be with you."
Yoongi's eyes never left your face while he talked and you didn't realize you were holding your breath until he stopped and you inhaled so you could answer him. "Maybe that's why my omega wants me to trust you even though everything else tells me not to. Like, I should be terrified of you, but I'm just not. I just want to be good so that I can stay."
You didn't know you were leaning toward him, nor were you fully aware of the words you spoke or how they made Yoongi's heart race, but when he brushed his fingers along your cheekbone you suddenly leaned back, blinking rapidly to regain your composure.
Yoongi coughed and pulled his hand away, reaching for candy to occupy his fingers. "I guess I should be honest with you about my intentions," he said with a shrug. "Because I know they aren't entirely altruistic."
You swallowed, but kept your eyes on him. His words made you nervous, but you'd hardly call it fear. "What do you mean?"
"Maybe it's a little dark. Or maybe all alphas feel this way. I always knew I was an alpha before presentation, because I always wanted people to depend on me. I always wanted to be in charge, to be a provider, to have the people in my life need me even more than they wanted me. In a way, the attraction I have, the love I have for the others, that's the unbelievable thing. With Jimin, with you, I felt from the first time I met each of you that you needed me. You wouldn't survive without me. And I liked that. Do you think that's kind of sick?" He wondered. You couldn't tell if he wanted an answer, or if he wanted you to be a little bit scared. But still you didn't feel it.
I don't think I will survive without you, your inner self echoed.
You reached out to him, let your fingers graze the back of his hand. "I'm not sure. I'm not the best judge of what's normal and what's not. But it sounds right to me. I think to myself sometimes, I don't know how I've survived this long. I should be dead. Omegas…we aren't built to make it on our own. Sometimes it seemed like my death was right around the corner, but I don't feel that way anymore. The last two days have felt like the safest days of my whole life," you admitted.
Yoongi's chest felt tight, like his heart would burst through his ribs if you kept talking. He turned his palm up so he could slot his fingers through yours. You sat in silence for a moment, letting him hold your hand while he tried to keep his breathing steady.
"I don't understand why you're not pack alpha. Is it because Seokjin makes more money?" You wondered after a minute as you brushed back his chin length hair with your fingers.
Yoongi chuckled. "If we're getting technical, Taehyung makes the most money in the pack."
Your eyes bulged in surprise. "But I thought Tae didn't work."
"He doesn't have a job in the strictest sense, but reclusive artists are often the most sought after. His paintings sell for a high price tag to collectors."
You hummed thoughtfully. "Maybe I picked the wrong alpha."
Yoongi tugged on your hand playfully, making you giggle. "I always wanted to be a pack alpha. When I was younger I tried to establish my own pack but…it just wasn't right. I didn't have a lot to offer back then. I've never had Jin's resources. And then I met his pack, and I felt very comfortable with them. It was easy to fall in love with each of them so quickly. But they were already complete before me. I felt surprised they even wanted me. So I let go of that dream. It's been over five years now."
"But then you met Jimin, right? Did you think about starting a pack with him? On your own, I mean?"
Yoongi shrugged. "An alpha and a beta isn't much of a pack. You can make a pack without a beta, but without an omega? What's the point?" He looked at you through his eyelashes, but then quickly away. "Besides, Jimin and I both always wanted a big pack, and he clicked with Jungkook and Taehyung right away. It would have been selfish to take him away just because I wanted to be in charge."
"You're my pack alpha though," you murmured, sending a shiver down Yoongi's spine. He could only nod. "Good."
He lets his eyes close and for a minute you just watch him breathe steadily, happy that he seems content with you. But as seconds slip by you begin to feel that it might not be enough. Maybe it was silly, but you felt so much closer to him after all you'd both said, and holding his hand wasn't physically close enough anymore.
"I'm kind of cold," you told him quietly, taking him from his thoughts.
"I can turn on the heat," he offered, letting go of your hand and reaching for the ignition.
"Or maybe you could just hold me?"
The corner of his mouth tugged into a smile. He helped you move all the snacks to the backseat of the impala and moved closer so you met in the middle. You huddled into his side as he wrapped his arm around your shoulders and pulled you legs over his. You let out a quiet, happy sigh you hoped he didn't notice.
"If you wanted to cuddle all you had to do was say so," he whispered to the top of your head.
You turned your face into his shoulder. "I'm working on it," you mumbled.
He smiled and ran his fingers through your hair, dragging his fingernails gently against your scalp. "You're doing great, princess."
You made a noise Yoongi wouldn't only describe as grumpy and turned your face up at him. "Why do you call me that?"
"Because that's what I want you to feel like. Because princesses have everything they need provided for. And because you're special just because you're you. But if you don't like it, I can call you something else."
You nestled into him again. "Well, when you put it like that."
Once again, Yoongi turned up the volume on the radio and you both at least pretended to pay attention. Although the movie in general was pretty innocuous, you took advantage of one lame jump scare to bury your face into his neck. Yoongi held his breath as you nosed at his scent gland, causing his light, happy scent to fill the car around you. He let you stay in his arms until the end of the movie, and although you didn't fall asleep, it was an easy mistake for him to make. He scratched teasingly at your side to rouse you when the screen went dark.
"Are you ready to go home, princess?"
You tilted your head up to see his features illuminated by the lights of other cars as they made their exits. You'd practically forgotten that there was anyone else there. Your head nodded sleepily, and Yoongi reluctantly moved you over to your side of the seat. When he moved behind the steering wheel you moved back to the center seat and strapped in the seatbelt there so you could stay close to his warmth.
No matter how old you get, the urge to stay up on a Saturday night always remains. Yoongi could tell by the soft footsteps moving about the second floor that the pack are just settling in for the night, brushing their teeth and for the most part discarding unnecessary items of clothing before staking their claim to their spots in the nest. Everyone was home for once, and they'd all sleep soundly. Even you. Even Yoongi, although he knew that it still wasn't time for you and him to share space for that activity. You climbed the stairs sleepily with Yoongi a few steps behind you, making sure you didn't slip as you swayed precariously. His hand went quickly to your hip, grabbing hold of the fabric there when you tripped over the top step. The noise brought Hoseok to the bedroom door.
"You didn't get her drunk, did you, alpha?" Hobi asked from the half open door. Yoongi rolled his eyes, because the omega knew that wasn't the plan.
"No, just sleepy," you yawned as you rubbed your eyes.
Jimin squeezed past Hoseok to give you a goodnight hug. "You smell like you crawled out of an orange." He giggled, "apples and oranges."
Yoongi blushed while the two of you said your goodnights.
"Do you need any help getting ready for bed?" Hobi asked softly. He'd helped you take apart your nest earlier today so that you could keep practicing.
"No, I think I got it. And I have new pillows," you whispered happily.
"Okay then," he smiled back. "Yoongi, I'll see you in a minute," he said, and the instruction to your alpha was clear, just in case he didn't already know where he would be sleeping tonight. He closed the door and the two of you were cloaked in darkness except for a sliver of light from a lamp Hoseok left on for you in your room.
"Are you going to tell them what I told you earlier?" You asked after a moment passed with nothing but the sound of your breathing.
"I won't, if you don't want me too. But no one is going to judge you if you're–"
"No. I was just thinking it would be better if you did. That way I don't have to tell it six more times."
Yoongi nodded. It was a vulnerable thing you had shared, and it couldn't be easy to talk about with others. "I read once that if you talk about your trauma repeatedly, like you're telling a story, it can start to feel more like a thing that happened and not something that's still happening to you."
You cringed at the thought. "I think I'd still rather have you explain it. If you don't mind."
"Of course," he agreed easily, anything to make you more comfortable.
"I had a good time tonight," you admitted after another quiet moment where neither of you seemed to want to leave.
Yoongi's smile was becoming semi permanent. "I'm glad. Get some rest. I'll see you in the morning."
He took one step closer to you and leaned down to kiss your cheek, but you turned your head up in such a way that you caught his lips with your own. You froze in surprise, and even more shockingly, he didn't move away. Yoongi took another step into you, so your chests were just touching. His hand went around your back to keep you steady despite intensifying the angle of your kiss. Still, it remained chaste even as it went on. His lips were hot and soft and just slightly moist, but he seemed content to press his mouth just gently to yours for another moment longer. Then his lips finally left yours, he whispered his goodnight and disappeared into the pack bedroom.

I love your fics sm! Can you maybe make one where reader is meeting kenans family and she's all nervous about it?
; 𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 - 𝘬.𝘺𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘻 ✮
summary: meeting the parents might just not be as scary as you think
warnings: x
author’s note: thank yewww anon 😜🫶🏽 writing this knowing damn well I have never felt the touch of a man😞
It was a sunny Saturday afternoon when you found yourself standing outside Kenan’s family home, a mix of excitement and nerves bubbling inside you.
Today was the day you would finally meet his parents, Engin and Beate. You had been dating Kenan for a few months now, and while you were comfortable with him, the thought of meeting his family sent butterflies racing in your stomach.
As you approached the door, Kenan gave your hand a reassuring squeeze. “You’ll be fine, trust me. They’ll love you,” he said, his smile easing your anxiety a bit.
When the door swung open, you were greeted by Beate, her warm smile immediately putting you at ease. “Hallo! Come in! I’m so happy to finally meet you!” she exclaimed, pulling you into a tight hug.
“Hi, thank you! It’s great to meet you too,” you replied, your heart warming at her kindness.
Engin soon joined, his demeanor friendly as he shook your hand firmly. “Welcome! It’s a pleasure to have you here,” he said, his German accent thick yet charming.
As you settled into their cozy living room, Beate wasted no time in showing you around the house.
You admired the photos on the walls, snapshots of family vacations and milestones that painted a picture of their life together. It felt homely, and you appreciated the effort they put into making you feel welcome.
Then, the inevitable happened. Beate excitedly exclaimed, “Oh! I have something to show you!” before rushing off to grab an album.
Kenan groaned, his face turning slightly red. “Mama, nein! You don’t have to do that!” he protested, following her.
You couldn’t help but chuckle at his embarrassment. “What’s in the album?” you asked, genuinely curious.
When Beate returned, she held a thick photo album filled with pictures of a young Kenan. “Look at these baby pictures! Isn’t he adorable?” she said, flipping through the pages.
You laughed at a particularly funny picture of a chubby-cheeked Kenan covered in cake. “He’s so cute!” you said, enjoying the moment.
In a playful attempt to distract you, Kenan flicked your ear, causing you to laugh even harder. “Hey!” you exclaimed, trying to swat his hand away.
Engin, catching the exchange, chuckled and said jokingly, “Kenan, don’t hit girls!”
Kenan rolled his eyes but couldn’t hide his smile. “I wasn’t hitting her! I was just trying to distract her from the embarrassment!”
Beate continued to flip through the album, pointing out various stages of Kenan’s life. “Look here! This was when he was a messy little boy,” she said, showing a picture of him with spaghetti all over his face.
You grinned, glancing at Kenan, who was now trying to hide his face in his hands. “Is he still messy?” Beate asked, raising an eyebrow playfully.
You laughed, enjoying the banter. “Oh, definitely! He leaves socks all around the house!”
Kenan groaned, “You’re not supposed to tell them that!” He flicked your ear again, making you duck and laugh. “Next time I’m leaving you at home.” He muttered, rolling his eyes as he sat there embarrassed.
Engin laughed heartily. “Sounds like he hasn’t changed much!”
The atmosphere was filled with laughter, and you felt your nerves melting away. The teasing and lighthearted moments made it clear that you were welcome in their family, and you appreciated how much they embraced Kenan’s playful spirit.
As the afternoon went on, you shared stories, exchanged laughter, and enjoyed delicious homemade pastries that Beate had prepared.
With every passing moment, you felt more at ease, realizing that meeting Kenan’s parents was not just a step in your relationship, but also an opportunity to be a part of a warm and loving family.
By the time you left, you felt a sense of belonging that reassured you. Engin and Beate waved goodbye with promises to see you again soon, and as you walked hand in hand with Kenan, you couldn’t help but smile at how well everything had gone.
“You were amazing,” Kenan said, pulling you closer.
You looked up at him, your heart fluttering. “I had a lot of fun. Your parents are wonderful.”
He grinned, clearly pleased. “Told you they’d love you.”

My "handsome" Stalker
Ateez Choi San x Reader (SMUT)
Warnings: stalking, signs of violence, dirty talk, possessive behavior, smut
For your information: I made up this story 10 years ago (when I was around 14-15), so I apologize if some things sound weird or rushed, but I wanted to keep as much of the original as possible.
In the middle of the forest, I got a strange feeling. A feeling I only had when something was wrong. And something was definitely not right here. I stopped and looked around carefully. It was getting a bit dark, but I didn't care. My eyes were good enough to see everything around me. When I looked back ahead, he was there. The man who hadn't left me alone for quite some time. He constantly followed me everywhere, never took his eyes off me, and allowed me no privacy. Who was this guy? A sick stalker?! Everything pointed to that being the case. I stared stubbornly into his eyes, which he hid behind black sunglasses. You could hardly see him. The only thing visible were his black hair. The rest was concealed under a black leather jacket, jeans, and black boots. Around his mouth and nose, he wore a mask.
It was intimidating to stand in front of a completely black figure that you didn't know, who was always stalking you, and was now out in the forest as it was getting darker. My limbs had stiffened, and I couldn't move an inch. "What... what do you want from me?!" As hard as it was for me, in all that fear, I tried not to show my anxiety. Did I even want to know what he wanted from me? Probably not. My gaze was fixed on him, but he didn't respond; he simply disappeared behind the bushes. Still frozen and shocked from the unexpected encounter with the unknown stalker, I stood there. Only after a while did the stiffness in my joints fade, and I continued walking through the small forest area toward my home. I took off my shoes and ignored the screaming of my quarrelsome parents, like I did every time, and went straight to my room, just to free myself from my jacket, throwing it onto the small sofa in my room and collapsing, with a loud sigh, into my cozy warm bed. Immediately, my eyelids, heavy from exhaustion, fell shut, and I drifted off into my own land with my own rules.
3 Weeks later
I was slowly fed up. This guy was still stalking me, and now the new bad boy at our school was also in the picture to annoy me. Jae and Sora helped me stay out of his way, but one day it had to happen. Unfortunately, that day was today. He and I had to work together on the same project, that's how we ended up at my house, and I swear I was so close to tearing his head off! He could never keep his hands to himself, and if my little sister wasn't here, he would have been dead a long time ago! I hated this guy so much! "San! Could you please focus on the screen and not on my cleavage?!" I shot him venomous glances, but he didn't seem to be impressed, because instead of trembling with fear, he just laughed. Had I mentioned that I hated this guy?! Because I'd gladly say it again. I hated him! "But you have two far more interesting toys to offer."
Disgusted, I redirected my gaze to the laptop in front of me and began searching for more information about Seoul before our time. After hours, we were both fed up, and it was already getting dark. Since I didn't want him to think about spending the night here, I dragged him straight to the front door. Unfortunately, my parents caught me in all the haste. They still believed that I should finally get a boyfriend, and they were okay with absolutely anyone at the moment. Just not for me. "Y/N sweetheart? Why are you in such a hurry with that poor guy?" I interrupted my mom before she could continue. "I have a lot to do, Mom. San should really be going now." Without waiting for another word, from anyone, I shoved him out the door and slammed it behind me. My parents just looked at me with wide eyes, confusion written on their foreheads. They were the kind of parents who never understood teenagers like me. So I didn't care any further because I knew it wouldn't do any good and immediately disappeared back into "My" realm. "What an idiot! If my parents dare to hook me up with him, I swear I'm gonna jump off a bridge!" I muttered, slightly annoyed.
Yes, I was easily provoked and thrown off course in the evenings. Grumbling, I threw myself onto the bed, pulled the blanket over me, switched off my bedside lamp, and fell immediately into a deep, dreamless sleep. The next morning, I had no desire to go to school. Especially because I had to see him again. It would be even worse if I had to see them both. If I encountered that weird guy from the forest in the same spot again. The thought sent chills down my spine. He scared me, but still... there was something intriguing about him that drew me in. Yes, it really sounded like I was losing my mind, but I was definitely still sane. That's why it felt so strange to me. After arriving at school, I initially had my peace and quiet. Jae and Sora weren't there today, so I could wander around alone all day. I actually had many friends at school, but I only hung out with those I cared about more.
With the others, I would just be bored and wouldn't fit into the group at all. And I could definitely do without that. So, I preferred to sit in a quiet place, put on my headphones, and listen to music. It was a nice feeling to be able to be by myself. At home, I had my family, who usually got on my nerves, and here I had my two friends, who constantly talked about some celebrities, fashion, or other stuff while I just stood there, lost in my thoughts. Today, I had settled once again into my usual spot and listened to Taeyeon's beautiful voice in her song "I." One of the few songs that calmed me down so much that I could relax deeply and everything around me felt like air.
After a while, I looked at the clock on my phone and realized that class was starting again. Thank goodness I had developed a sense for that, otherwise, I would have been late. Sighing, I sank down into my seat and rested my head on my hand. It was so boring without the two of them. But only in class. Suddenly, the shrieking of the girls echoed through the room, causing me to cover my ears and look in the direction where they had all gathered. Who else stood in the doorway? Of course. Choi fucking San. Why else would the girls start screeching like that? Without a word, I just walked right past them and couldn't help but feel his gaze on the back of my neck. Creep.
After school, the feeling of being followed overcame me again. I kept turning around and looking at the surroundings, but I saw no one following me. The few people who were walking around ignored me or gave me confused looks. Shrugging my shoulders, I continued walking. When I arrived home, it was really quiet. That had never happened before. For the past two years, there had always been pure terror as soon as I got home. After all this time, it was quiet in the house, but I didn't like it. Before I went to my room, I crossed the entire house and looked around. Everyone was gone. No one there. Strange. I was still quite uneasy, but I tried to ignore it and went to my room. My phone suddenly flashed and showed me a message from my mother. Apparently my parents and my sister are currently at the doctor's because she had the brilliant idea of eating nuts at school despite her nut allergy. Can't say I was surprised to hear that.
Immediately, I sat down to do my homework because, 1. I wanted to get it done as quickly as possible, and 2. I knew I'd be sitting there for hours again. "Finally! Done." I exhaled and leaned back in my chair. After three hours, I had finally finished. To be honest, I was the kind of person who always got distracted by something without meaning to. That's why I spent a bit longer than others on my homework. When my stomach finally started growling, I walked into the kitchen, grabbed the leftovers from the casserole in the fridge, put it on a plate, and popped it in the microwave while leaning against the counter in our kitchen. Bing. I jumped up, took the plate out of the microwave, and sat down on the sofa, switching on the TV at the same time. I always watched TV while eating. It was completely normal for me.
Something shattered behind me. A small scream escaped my throat, and I immediately looked behind me in the apartment. No one there. But what was that? On the shelf above the TV, we had katanas on display. I couldn't handle those things, but it was better than being unarmed. I quickly grabbed one of the katanas, carefully took it out of its sheath, and walked cautiously in the direction from which the noise originated.
Keeping the sword poised in front of me, I walked through the hallway and discovered my mother's vase shattered on the floor. I almost stepped on the shards. I walked around it in a wide arc and moved toward my father's office. Light was on, and the door was ajar. Suddenly, I saw a shadow beneath the door. I felt fear. Real fear. Any sane person would have screamed and run out of the house, calling for help. But I was different in this situation. What I was doing was the last thing anyone should do.
The door slowly opened, and I held the sword ready to confront the intruder. My eyes widened when I saw who stood before me. The guy who kept stalking me. He was here. In my house! Oh my God! What now? I was frozen. My hands trembled with uncertainty. The last bit of my courage had vanished. The guy slowly approached me cautiously, reaching for his mask that covered half of his face and slowly pulled it down. At the same time, he removed his sunglasses. Did I want to see what creature was beneath that mask? I squinted my eyes and bit down hard on my lower lip. My heart raced uncontrollably, and the adrenaline surged through my blood, making me feel so nervous and restless I could hardly stand. I had never felt as much fear in my entire life as I did in that moment. "Look at me, Y/N." That voice. I knew it. Could it be? Was it really him? Hesitantly, I opened my eyes and immediately looked into the face of the person I hated most. Choi San stood right in front of me. He was the stalker?! Was this guy joking with me?! Angrily, I put the katana down and glared at him with hatred.
"Have you lost your mind scaring me like this?! Do that again, and I'll rip your head off!" I shouted at him, and he flinched slightly before grabbing my wrists and slamming me roughly against the wall. His face was uncomfortably close, and not a second later, as I was thinking about it, his lips were on mine. I fought with all my strength, but he was ten times stronger than me, so I eventually gave in. Still reluctantly, I reciprocated his kiss, and he immediately made it more demanding and wild. I didn't know why, but over time, I let him overpower me. I surrendered completely as he started covering my neck with kisses and sometimes began sucking on it. We then moved into my room; he immediately shoved me onto my bed and knelt over me. Again, he placed his lips on mine, and I automatically wrapped my arms around his neck to pull him even closer to me. Why did I suddenly have this desire for him? None of this made any sense. I hated him! And yet, here I was, wildly making out beneath him. His fingers slid under my shirt and slowly pushed it up. He stroked my stomach while sucking on my neck. Tomorrow, I would definitely have a hickey there.
Jae and Sora were back today. That mainly took away the boredom. It had been two weeks already, but I constantly thought back to that one night when he was with me and kissed me. But the worst part of it all was that I had reciprocated, and if my parents hadn't come home that evening, I probably would have... Oh God, please no! Not with him! Anything but that! My aching cheek brought me back to reality. My two friends were standing in front of me, and Sora had slapped me. That was the only way to pull me out of my daydreams. Still, it hurt. "Sora~. What was that for? That hurts." I whined with a pout. She just placed her hands on her hips and looked at me sternly. "Then stop daydreaming when I'm talking to you. You know how much I hate being ignored." Oh yes, that was true. And how much she hated it. Just as much as being interrupted. If she ever got a boyfriend, I hoped for him that he was deaf-mute.
He pulled my shirt over my head and pinned my wrists to the bed. I hadn't expected that. A bit surprised and nervous at the same time, I looked at him. "S-San? What-..." "Shh. Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you. You mean way too much to me," he murmured against my lips, interrupting me and teasingly licking them. He was driving me crazy. I was already feeling so hot, and my body was practically screaming for him. He sat up and took off his coat and shirt as well. Could you believe it? He had an incredibly well-trained body, and so many tattoos adorned him, making him even more attractive. "Do you like what you see?" he grinned cheekily at me, and only now did I realize that I was staring. I turned my face away, blushing slightly, but didn't answer him. Again, he leaned down for another wild kiss and captured my lips. Suddenly, the front door slammed open, and we both stared in shock in that direction. Then our eyes met again. San pulled his clothes back on, freed me from my restraints, and ran to my window. "See you later," he winked at me and then jumped out of the window. Completely dazed, I remained lying in bed.
A few days later
Suddenly students started to run past us outside and formed a circle around a spot. What the hell? My expression became serious, and I marched outside to the yard with my friends directly behind me. I stopped and saw... my best friend and San? What had Wooyong done? He was the nicest person I knew and was pretty much always with me. Jae always said he wanted something from me, but I couldn't believe that. He was my best friend and nothing more. San seemed to be the one who was angry. I could tell by his gaze. He was tearing Wooyoung apart with just his eyes. I walked up to the two of them and stood between the two fighters. "What's going on here?!" I said seriously, crossing my arms over my chest. San simply ignored me, walked up to him, grabbed him by the collar, and whispered something in his ear that I unfortunately couldn't hear. I immediately pulled him away from Wooyoung, who shot him an angry look before disappearing into the school building, taking half the students with him. The rest scattered across the schoolyard. I could only shake my head and walked over to my best friend. "Wooyoung. Are you okay? What was that about?" "Nothing! That's none of your business." He turned around and just walked away. I watched him with wide eyes. What was that all about?
After school, I felt again that I was being followed. This time, I didn't care since I knew who it was, and I definitely had no fear of him. Out of nowhere I was grabbed by the arm and pulled into a wooded area. Totally surprised, I looked at the back of San's head and was literally forced to follow him. "San, what the hell? Let me go!" He didn't say anything but just kept pulling me along. Eventually, we arrived in a big backyard. "Wait a minute. Isn't this... my backyard?!" I looked at San, somewhat confused. However, he averted his gaze and pulled me into the house. He shoved me into my room and locked the door behind him. He angrily approached me and pushed me onto my bed, leaning over me and looking into my eyes intently. "Stay away from him! Do you understand?!" I blinked several times to comprehend what he meant. "What... what do you mean by that?" He sighed and lowered his head for a moment before looking back into my eyes. "Your friend just wants to get into your pants. Don't fall for that fraud!" "What?! Wooyoung is my best friend! He would never do that!" "Oh, really? Are you sure?" he said still seriously, leaning even closer to me. "Kim Sook. She was very close friends with him for two years until they ended up in bed, and then he left her hanging. My friend Mingi's sister didn't fare any better. So how do you know it would be different for you?! Do you really think I'd let that happen?!" he nearly shouted at me, and I stayed calm out of fear.
For a while, we stared into each other's eyes in silence. He was still so close to me; it made me quite nervous, but it also calmed me down. His closeness and warmth soothed me just like the wonderful, musky scent of his aftershave. Slowly, he bridged the last few centimeters and I could feel those wonderful, soft lips on mine. It was just a brief kiss, but it awakened so much within me. "I don't want to lose you to him," he whispered against my lips and kissed me again, this time with more pressure. I couldn't resist this guy, so I immediately wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me. He supported himself on his forearms on either side of my head and let the kiss become more passionate while one of his hands glided from my neck down my entire body. A pleasurable shiver ran down my spine, and it felt like it was getting warmer in my room. His hand wandered under my shirt and slowly lifted it. His tongue teased over my lips, and I willingly opened them for him. San's tongue explored my mouth, played with mine, and with both hands, he massaged my breasts. Things got hotter and he leaned down to my neck, gently kissing his way down to my breasts, pulling my shirt and bra off. Normally, I would have turned red with shame, but at that moment, I was too aroused by the hot curly head above me.
His gaze devoured me, and he licked his lips seductively before leaning down to my breasts, circling my nipples with his tongue. Moaning softly, I scratched lightly down his back, enjoying the teasing of my breasts. Occasionally, he would bite lightly and suck on them. It was driving me insane, and my core started tingling with excitement. Impatiently, I squirmed beneath him and noticed his dirty grin as he kissed down my stomach. He wouldn't dare...?! No second later, my legs were pushed further apart, and I saw his head disappear between my legs. "San, stop that!" A bit embarrassed, I tried to stop him, grabbing his hair, but in the next moment, I had to stifle a moan and instinctively clutched his hair tightly. My strength slipped away in an instant, and I sank back into the pillows. He blissfully ran his long tongue along my wet core, skillfully teasing my sensitive pearl with the tip of his tongue, which only made me moan louder, my hips involuntarily arching up to meet him. His lips wrapped around my pearl, and he sucked on it hard, licking teasingly over my entrance while grinning at me. I couldn't do anything but surrender completely and let this man drive me crazy.
Moaning, I pulled on his hair and moved my hips against him, feeling that I was getting closer to my long-desired climax. Just a few more seconds, and I would finally go over the edge after his sweet torture on my sensitive clit. "San! Fuck!" I cried out, clutching his hair tighter, pulling on it as I arched my back and climaxed. Never in my life had an orgasm been as overwhelming as this one. Breathless and totally surprised, I looked at San, who was smirking cheekily, eliciting one last whimper from me followed by a reflexive arching of my hips as his tongue glided one last time over my now pulsating core. He kissed his way back up to me, sucking onto a spot behind my ear. I bit my lower lip to stifle any revealing sound, but just the tension in my body seemed to let him know that it was that spot I liked the most, and he traced it with his tongue. "Do you like that?" he whispered into my ear with his rough, deep voice, bringing another whimper out of me, and the only thing I could manage was a weak nod. San looked at me and didn't even try to hide his smug grin, to which I just rolled my eyes.
My gaze traveled along his face to his full, rosy lips, just waiting to press themselves back onto mine, showering me with their gentleness. "Do you want more?" It was just a soft whisper brushing against my lips that sent indescribable goosebumps down my spine, yet it was enough to stir up my loins and reflexively make my head nod slightly, though forcefully. God, what was this guy doing to me? Grinning, San stood up from me, and I became witness to an incredibly hot strip tease. It hadn't even occurred to me that he still had all his clothes on. But that I was getting this private show right now made me all the happier, and I could hardly wait to feel him inside me. To be taken shamelessly yet tenderly and passionately. He was driving me completely mad, and my clarity was dwindling as I was led to unleash the woman that had been slumbering inside me this whole time. A fiery young woman who had been waiting for the man who would cloud all her senses and send her to cloud nine, making her forget where up and down were. I immediately shook my head and tried to regain some clarity of mind.
This guy had managed to make me aroused just by my thoughts of the tattooed, dominant, and hot man who had such an incredibly bright smile and could easily wrap any woman around his finger. I still couldn't take my eyes away from that incredibly hot six-pack, scrutinizing every single one of his tattoos in detail. I just caught on the side how he grinned at me and slowly moved back toward my bed. Like a predator, he crawled toward me, pushing me back into the pillows. Again, he came so close, and his gaze made me hold my breath for a moment. His eyes were full of lust, and even his breath became a bit shallower, while his skin felt burning hot. "Do you have any idea how damn sexy you look? So helpless and so aroused. And all because of me." His rough voice made my core pulse even stronger, and I instinctively squirmed beneath him.
With a glazed look, he watched me until he grabbed my legs, spreading them apart and lying between them. He pressed his lips demandingly against mine and immediately deepened the kiss into a wild and intense tongue dance. San sucked on my tongue, licking and playing with it while his hands began to travel down my legs. Gently, he ran his right hand along my inner thigh to my core and paused just before reaching it. A bit confused, I was about to break the kiss and ask him what he was planning, when suddenly I felt something hard and pulsing at my entrance. Slowly and carefully, making sure not to hurt me, he entered my hot tightness. Piece by piece, deeper and deeper until he was fully buried inside me, letting out a quiet moan. With steady movements, he slowly thrust into me and gradually picked up speed, pounding harder and harder. "Oh my God. San!" Overwhelmed by this sudden and indescribable feeling as he thrust into me, I nearly screamed and clung to his back. "Found you."
Grinning, he grabbed my hips, pulling me closer to him and let his pelvis hit hard against mine. His thrusts became deeper and faster, and each time he hit that one spot inside me, drawing the most beautiful sounds from me and truly sending me to cloud nine. San's hands clutched the pillows beside my head, and his incredible hip movements grew more uncontrolled as he panted. I instinctively wrapped my legs around his waist and let him drive me onward. Finally, we both soared together over the edge and screamed each other's names into the room. Breathless and totally spent, he fell beside me after pulling out and draped the blanket over our bodies. "That was..." "Yes, that... was it," I finished his sentence, looking at him with a weak smile as I breathed heavily, which he returned by pulling me into his strong arms. "I love you, Y/N." That was the last thing I heard before my eyes fell shut and I drifted off into dreamland.

Song(s) referenced: -
When I woke the bed was cold and empty. He hadn't slept here. Maybe hadn't slept all. Tension immediately returned to my well-rested body. I pressed my eyes shut and turned into the pillow to inhale the faint remnants of his scent. But seconds later I practically jumped out of bed, overwhelmed by the hurricane of emotions whirling in my chest. With trembling fingers I cracked the window open and deeply inhaled the crisp November air. It did little to soothe my anxiety. I wished desperately that we could be normal. That I could pick his discarded shirt up off the floor, slip it on and join him in the kitchen to steal a kiss at the stove. But his clothes were gone, not a trace of his presence, of the absolute wonder last night had been. So I dressed in my leggings and woolen sweater instead. Voices were drifting down the hallway when I opened my door and I followed them, my heart sinking. Then it dropped into my stomach like a rock. Steve was not just awake and clad in his sleek Marshal attire, his bags also stood packed by the door. Panic rose in my throat. No. Not yet, not today. “Mornin’, sleepyhead.” Natasha stepped into my vision, giving me a casual wave and a strangely wistful smile. “Stevie over here doesn't seem too happy about it, but I'm hoping you are: They've caught Parker. And everyone's certain he didn't have any lackeys, so you're safe to return home. Yay for civilization.” She made a weak attempt at jazz hands, then lowered them at the expression on my face. My eyes flew to Steve but his were fixed on the kitchen counter, dark shadows beneath them. “Wow,” I managed to press out. “I know you guys have been having a pretty cozy time here. So I thought we could all have a nice farewell breakfast before getting on the road. Rogers and I are gonna get cracking on that while you pack, okay?” I needed a moment before I could croak out a reply. “Yeah. Sounds great. Thanks, Nat.” Steve still wouldn't meet my eye, so I mechanically turned on my heels and stumbled back to my room.
When I slumped into a chair twenty minutes later, I couldn’t help staring at Steve. He looked so different. Almost foreign. His slicked-back hair, clean-shaven jaw, the sharp lines of his leather jacket. I had grown so used to his warm softness that it had overwritten the first impression from a month ago. Seeing him morph back into his professional self overnight was jarring. But it had the exact effect he had apparently aimed for: He seemed nothing like the man I had given my body and soul to just hours ago. “Help yourself,” he mumbled at no one in particular. “Don’t mind if I do!” Natasha shoveled a waffle, scrambled eggs and fruit onto her plate. I took some eggs and toast, just to push them around aimlessly. “So, Julie, what are you looking forward to the most when you get back home? Privacy? Take-out? Your phone?” Her grin would have been infectious on any other day. I managed a weak smile. “Seeing my friends, actually. I’ve missed them more than I had imagined.” “That’s good. We all need people.” Her eyes flicked to Steve but he was busy crushing a waffle into crumbs. “What about you?” I asked. “Huh?” His gaze shot up. “Oh Nothing in particular.” “Really?” Natasha pressed. “City boy was perfectly content in the middle of nowhere?” “Well, I am looking forward to not being teased by you, Romanoff.” She just laughed. “You’re gonna miss me, you always do.” Breakfast went on like that and somewhere along the way I managed to get down a couple of bites. Steve ate nothing at all.
“Right then, you guys go take off. I’ll do a last check and wait for the cleaner.” “Oh, okay. Thank you.” Natasha winked at me. “It’s just so that I get so snatch all the left-over food. I saw Steve’s famous Bami goreng in the fridge — can’t wait for that.” We glanced over at him loading our luggage into the trunk. “Thanks for everything, Nat,” I said with my first earnest smile of that day. “You’ve been great.” “Bye, Julie. It’s been a pleasure.” She gave me a brief but forceful hug and whispered into my ear. “Don't give up too easily.” I searched her eyes for an explanation when she pulled back. But she just smiled and gently pushed me towards the car. “Stevie? A word?” He sighed, then walked up to her while I got into the car. The sweet expression on her face vanished immediately. She spoke intently, holding onto his arms as if to shake him. His responses were monosyllabic at best and eventually she just exhaled in frustration before embracing him. I tried to burn the image of the cabin into my brain as Steve approached the car. Despite the awful sensation in my stomach I never wanted to forget this place and all the memories inside its walls. I flinched when he ripped the door open. “Have a safe trip, kids!” Natasha called out. “You, too.” Steve raised a hand while folding himself into the driver's seat. She waved us off as we backed down the driveway. The silence in the car coated us like concrete. I glanced over at him but his eyes were firmly on the road. After a few minutes I couldn’t bear it anymore. “Can we talk about last—“ “I don't think that's a good idea,” he cut me off. My features slipped. What on earth had happened to the man I had grown so intimately acquainted with? “Well, I think it is. We can't ignore everything between us just because we had to leave the cabin.” “Julie…” All of a sudden he sounded endlessly exhausted and my heart contracted in pain. I inched my hand closer to his one resting on his thigh. If only we could find our connection again. But before I could reach him he pulled away. I burrowed my teeth in my bottom lip to stop it from quivering. A long moment passed before I dared to speak again. “Can we please stop by my dad's?” “We really don’t have the t—“ “Don't. Don't refuse to do this one thing for me.” Tears were pricking at my eyes and I tried to blink them away while staring at the road stretching before us. “I just really need to see my dad. Please.” I hated my voice for breaking so pathetically but it did do the trick. Steve swallowed audibly, then nodded. “One hour. That's all I can give you.” “Okay.” He punched the address into the GPS without another word from me, my entire file seemingly still stored in his memory. How could a person care so much and yet be so careless with another’s heart?
My dad ripped open the front door before I had fully exited the car. “Julie! Cariño, what are you doing here? What happened?” I couldn’t help the tears forming in my eyes once more. When had I last seen him? Christmas? What had he ever done to deserve me avoiding him just because I never stopped searching for accusation in his face whenever he looked at me? I ran up to him and threw myself into the most familiar arms in the world. “Hi, papi,” I sniffed into his cardigan. He held me tightly, rubbing his hands over my back. “I’ve been so worried, I haven’t heard from you in a month.” “I know, I’m sorry.” Eventually he loosened our embrace to hold me at arm’s length and inspect me in detail. “You look sad, mija. And you’ve changed your hair.” “Yeah. You never liked the blond, I know.” He shrugged. “I just didn’t feel that it was really you.” Then he finally looked at Steve, lips stretching into a surprised smile. “Who’s your friend?” I inhaled deeply. “That’s a long story.” “Steven Rogers.” He walked up to shake my father’s hand. “Pleasure to meet you.” “I’m sure the pleasure’s all mine, son.” My heart ached at their greeting. In a different version of this story I would be beaming up at Steve, snuggled into his side and endlessly happy to introduce him to the other most important man in my life. “Can you wait out here, please?” He frowned. “You're still under my protection.” “Parker is behind bars.” “Still.” There was something behind his firm professionalism. A silent plea in his eyes that made me bite my tongue. “Fine. You can wait in the living room.” “Julie, don’t be rude,” my dad chimed in, confusion etched into his features. “Of course he can—“ “We need to talk, papá. Just the two of us.”
“Wow.” My father leaned back in his chair. “God, I can’t believe this is what you’ve been dealing with the past few weeks.” “Yeah. I’m gonna need a while to process when I get home.” “Cariño, I’m so sorry that I didn’t know—“ “Don’t be silly, papi. You had no way of knowing.” “But you shouldn’t have had to carry that burden all by yourself…” His eyes started welling up as he reached for my hands and my stomach clenched painfully. “I didn’t. Steve was there.” “Right. Of course. Did he take good care of you?” Yes. He was perfect. Until he built an impenetrable fortress around his heart. “Julie?” Steve cleared his throat behind me. “I’m afraid we have to go. They’re expecting us at the station.” He set down the glass of water my father had forced upon him. Rafael Castillo, the most gracious host I knew, had been extremely anxious at the lack of hospitality he had been allowed to show his guest. So he had provided him with refreshments, magazines, the TV remote and the most comfortable chair in the room before finally joining me at the kitchen table. “Two minutes. Please.” His gaze softened infinitesimally. “I’ll wait in the hallway.” My father caught my gaze when Steve had left again. “I can see that he did.” “What?” “Take good care of you.” I smiled ruefully. “That’s another long story.” “Is he part of the reason you’ve changed, mija? You seem different.” My hand found his and squeezed tightly. “Will you come visit me soon? It’s been way too long. And I’d really… I’d really like to talk about everything. About mamá.” His brows shot up in surprise, then melted into the most gentle expression. “Of course, amor. I’d love to.” He reluctantly led me outside, pushing some snacks and a thermos of tea into my arms. Then he shook Steve’s hand again, this time amicably clutching his arm as well. “Get her home safely, son.” “I will, sir. Thank you for the hospitality.” “The least I could do for the man who’s been looking after my daughter.” They exchanged a smile before Steve got in the car. My father enveloped me in a hug. “Estoy muy orgulloso de ti, Julie. Y tu madre también lo está.” I held him even closer. “Gracias, papi.”
The music from the car speakers didn’t gloss over the quiet tension once more filling the car. Neither of us could muster up the energy to engage in small talk. And I still had no idea how to bridge the chasm between us. When we finally pulled up to the station, relief mingled with the ache in my chest. Yet the idea of leaving his side was more unfathomable than ever. Suddenly his fingers touched my arm, sending a spark of electricity straight to my heart. “Julie, you didn’t… You didn’t bring up what happened between us to your dad, right?” I stared at him in disbelief. “Yeah, sure, after everything I’ve been through, that was the first thing that came up. And since things are so easy between us I told him we’d get married, too.” Steve swallowed thickly, drawing back his hand. “I’m sorry, it’s just… It was obviously highly unprofessional and—“ “I won’t tell anyone,” I said, biting back my pain when I saw the misery in his eyes. “You won’t lose your job because of me.” He took a deep breath. “Thank you.”
Detectives Carter and Okamoto greeted us, then led me into their office for a debrief and another stack of paperwork. I anxiously looked back at Steve but he gave me a reassuring nod. “I’ll be right outside.” And miraculously he was really waiting for me when I stepped back into the hall an hour later. He looked even wearier, his face pale and a few strands of hair out of place. “Ready to go?” “Are you taking me home?” “Yeah.” “It’s just a fifteen minute walk.” For the first time that day he let his eyes linger one mine. “I know.”
Once out on the sidewalk, we fell into step with each other, the city buzzing around us. “God, it’s loud here,” he murmured. “We’ll get used to it again.” “Hmm.” Dusk fell while the minutes passed between us. “Will you come to the trial?” “I’ll probably be on another assignment.” “Oh. Right.” When we finally stopped in front of my building, Steve handed me the bag he had been carrying for me, then inspected the façade with curiosity, as if committing it to memory. But by the time he turned to me he had schooled his features back into careful composure. “Well then.” A light drizzle set in and I instinctively pulled him under the awning with me. Suddenly he was so close I couldn’t breathe, images from the previous night flooding my mind. “So, how can I contact you?” “You can’t.” My stomach dropped. “What?” “I’ve told you—“ “I understand, you need some time to work through this. But you can’t just cut me off, not after everything. Not after last night.“ He sighed deeply. “This wasn’t the last time I had to vanish off the grid for weeks or months at a time. I’d just keep you waiting and worrying. It's not fair to condemn anyone to a life like that. So I don’t really stay in touch with people.” “And I’m just… people?” “Julie…” He looked at me for a long time, a sudden storm of emotions flickering across his features. “You know that I can't.” “All I know is that you are self-sacrificing to a fault. I know that you feel like you have to make up for past mistakes but they weren't your mistakes. Your friends, your sister — they didn't die because of you. I'm not saying you should forget them, but you can't be haunted by their ghosts forever. Wouldn't they want you to be happy instead of giving up your life for strangers?” Both our eyes had filled with tears and when I gently cupped his face in my palm, he leaned into it with a soft exhale. “There are so many ways to help people without losing yourself. We can figure this out together. Please, Steve. I—“ “Don't.” I knew he could see them in my pleading gaze. Those three words that had been weighing heavy on my tongue. And I needed him to hear them, even if he didn't want to. “I love you.” He sucked in a shuddering breath and closed his eyes, a deep frown forming on his forehead. Then his fingers closed around my wrist to pull my hand away. My body turned to ice. “You don’t mean that.” “Steve—” “What you and I had was… intense. But it wasn’t—,” he swallowed heavily, gaze glued to the ground, “love.” The word came out strange, half-broken, tinged with a disdain that made my tears spill over. He took a step back and it felt like he was ripping out my insides in the process. This couldn’t be happening. I had known it would be difficult, but this? This was absurd. “You know how it is,” he mumbled, “being cooped up together in close quarters, with you in such a fragile state after the murder—“ “Don’t you dare!” My hurt morphed into rage within a split-second. “Don’t you fucking dare pretend I’m a hysterical, weak damsel in distress who can’t distinguish between genuine connection and some kind of reversed Stockholm syndrome.” “Jul—” “You kissed me!” I exclaimed. “You can try to fool yourself all you like, but whatever you want to call it, you felt something, too. That’s why you came to my room, why you couldn’t hold back any longer. You can’t possibly claim that last night was just physical, that everything we’ve shared these past few weeks has meant nothing to you.” Steve had once more slipped on a mask of neutrality, not betraying even a flicker of emotion. “I’m sorry,” he muttered. “Take care of yourself, Julie. And try to forget all of this. Please.” The world was spinning around me. “No. Don’t leave, not like this.” He turned around, hiked up the collar of his jacket and started walking. And all I could do was stare after his tall figure, a dark silhouette against the lights of Washington Heights.

Virgil Sanders x fem reader-My emo boy.
Yns POV:
Hum what a wonderful morning I thought as I stretched out in my and my boyfriend Virgil's shared bed. Oh now I have completely forgotten to introduce myself. I'm Yn and I'm Thomas shyness. And yes I am with Virgil and I love him so much it hurts and I understand him we help each other when it gets too much.
I decided to try to get out of bed but felt two very familiar arms around me that stopped me. I managed to turn around and smile when I saw Virgil's sleeping form. Then I snuggled into his warm body it is a little strange he is always so cold but when he is with me he is so warm. Virgil is really the best boyfriend I could have wished for, yes he may have a little problem sometimes but can you blame him he is Thomas' anxiety. But I love him one then and he is so good at working on his problems with me.
I love him and he loves me. I looked up at his sleeping face he is so cute when he sleeps. He may be extremely handsome when he is awake but when he sleeps then he is cute. I decided to start kissing him around his face and I could see him smiling but he had not really opened his eyes yet. Then I kissed him on the lips and then I felt him put his hand against my cheek and kissed me back. After our lips separately, he opened his eyes and with a smile.
Virgil: Good morning baby, have you slept well.
Omg that voice. Virgil's voice in the morning always makes me knee weak. I looked at him and smiled then I gave him another kiss then I answered.
Yn: Good morning Virgie I have slept wonderfully you?
Virgil: Ugh I do not like that nickname but yes I have also slept wonderfully.
I laughed at him and cuddled into him again I know he actually likes that nickname but only when I say it. This is the best I know that just lying and cuddling with Virgil I do not want to leave his side today. Wish we could just stay like this all day.
Knock Knock!!!
Hum Wondering who it might be?
Patton: Hello Kiddos good morning just wanted to tell you that breakfast is ready if you are interested.
I smiled when I heard it was Patton. Breakfast sounded really good right now I'm pretty hungry. I heard Virgil shout to Patton that we'll be down soon. But I do not want to leave the bed and I do not want to stop cuddling with Virgil.
Virgil: Baby what do you say if we just have a cozy day today and stay in bed and just cuddle and watch movies. Would you like it.
Yn: Yes please.
Virgils POV:
I laughed at her she is so heavenly sweet I kissed her on the forehead then I got up and picked up my sweater which was on the floor. I ignored switching to regular jeans because I'm just going to go down and get breakfast. Then I can just as easily go down in my pajama pants. When I turned around, I saw my wonderful girlfriend and saw that she looked a little sad. oh no what happens i did something stupid. I started to panic a bit.
Virgil: B_baby What is it have i done something.
Yn: Where are you going. Would we not stay in bed today.
Does she have to scare me so I smiled at her and giggled then I went to bed and took her in my arms. Then I kissed her and when we separated I told her.
Virgil: Yes, we're going to baby, but I'm just going to go down to the kitchen and get some breakfast. You're hungry, aren 't you?
She nodded to me and said a little yes then she gave me a kiss on the cheek and then lay down in bed again and hugged my pillow. So cute and I can not believe she's mine.
(Jumpskip in the kitchen)
Virgil: Morning.
Patton: Good morning Kiddo.
Logan: Morning.
Patton: But wait a minute where is Yn, she's okay. She's not sick, is she?
Virgil:Patton breathe YN is okay she's fine. We'll have a quiet day today.
Patton: Awwwww Soooooo Cuuuuuuuute!!!!!
Logan:Okay take it easy Patton it's okay Virgil but remember that when Roman and Thomas come home we'll make a new video.
Virgil: Okey.
(Jumpskip again sorry not sorry).
Virgil: Baby wake upp breakfast.
Yns POV:
Huh I must have fallen asleep. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, and when my eyes had adjusted to the light, and there I saw my nice boyfriend next to the bed with a tray of breakfast.
Virgil: Was it nice to have a little nap?
Yn: It was but there is someone missing next to me.
Virgils POV:
Oh god how cute she is I laughed at what she said then I put the tray aside then I took off my sweater and threw it on the floor. Then I lay in bed next to her side and said.
Virgil:I must make up for it then,
Come here baby.
Yns POV:
He smiled at me and kept his arms open for me. I giggled at him and crawled up to his arms then I gave him a kiss on the lips. Then I put my head on his chest and I felt him put his arms around me. Here I feel safe in his arms. I felt my eyes start to go out again but quickly opened them again because I just remembered the breakfast.
Yn: Virge what about breakfast?
Virgil:It can wait right now I just want to cuddle with my Baby.
I smiled at him and said nothing more I cuddled more into him. Just when I had fallen asleep, he whispered to me (I love you, thank you for being there). And yet I could only think of one thing. No, it's me to thank you for being there, I love you.
My Sweet Emo Boy.
And believe me that breakfast was completely forgotten.
Bonus_________________________________
Patton: Omg Logan come and check.
When Logan came, I held a finger and told him to be as quiet as he could. He looked at me strangely so I pointed into Virgil's room and told him to look towards the bed. Virgil held Yn in her arms and hid her face in her hair and they both lay asleep.
Patton:Come on you have to admit that the two of them are absolutely cute with each other.
Logan: Yes Patton I have to admit they are very sweet with each other.
I took out my mobile and took pictures of them, then we left the turtle doves alone. I have to show this picture later to Roman and Thomas.
The end.

Bucky and Steve had been busy with mission background preparations and while alone all day you filled your time trying to occupy your mind with shows, they had gotten home late to you struggling to stay awake, but no worries to that because so were they. the extra stress during this last week with setting up a mission in hopes it goes as quickly and smoothly as possible had not just effected them but also you, having abandoned your normal sleep schedule, accidentally skipping meals or just avoiding food because the stress of them leaving to a dangerous place doing things that could take their lives wracked your mind, yea maybe its for the people but what about their baby boy?.
cold chills and trembles of anxiety, a migraine from not eating and drinking enough. they had no idea of all that’s happened while they’ve been gone and surely they'd be disappointed in you, upset even, what if they were mad? They're working so hard and they shouldn't have to stress or worry about you feeling ill and not taking yourself
Due to all the stress and long shifts they opted to sleeping in a bit today, so when they awoke to you still out cold they didn't think much of it, finding it as a motivation to get a little extra cuddle time with their bumblebee, you had seemed a bit warmer than usual but they didn't mark it as worrisome as that’s bound to happen while being cuddled between two super soldiers.
It was sweet and peaceful until you started writhing trying to get out of their dead-sleep clutch, after a few moments of wiggling you manage to free yourself and make it to the bathroom to vomit, dizzy as ever and your head pounding, your physical health had caught up to your mental health, oh they were mad, you could hear it in their footsteps and the rush in Steves voice when he called for you.
A few seconds later Steve rushes in followed by a groggy Bucky, "oh sunshine, hey you’re okay, we’ve got you, were here." He hushes as tears burn tracks into your warm cheeks, Bucky rushes out as Steve picks you up, grabbing a single use disposable toothbrush and helping you brush your teeth, Bucky returns with a wow wow wubzy sippy full of cold water.
"Da-dada, up" you mumble out to Bucky realizing they’re not upset and that you were probably just hearing your heartbeat in your ears from the pain and fear of throwing up, he takes you into his arms and walks into the room helping you get changed into looser clothing consisting of track shorts and one of their shirts.
Steve getting the medicine and holding for you to take it with a quick juice box chaser, you whine out in quiet protest but it doesn't go far when both of them make stern 'im not having this attitude' and 'excuse me?' Faces.
Taking the medicine as quickly as possible and following it with the juice box made it so much easier, the praise of "good job bumblebee, so proud of you" from Steve made warmth swell in your chest.
" can you go lay down for us bubs? We're gonna go grab snacks and call out for the next couple of days" Bucky follows
You do as he asks, sitting in the middle with your stuffy seated on your lap facing the tv to watch with you, picking out the movie of your choice on on-demand.
They both return soon after with some snacks and drinks, dimming the light they join you getting all cozied up and cuddling with you.
The snacks weren’t much of a success but the drinks sure helped cool you down, now much more comfortable you hold on Steve’s hand as you nuzzle into Bucky's left arm taking in the edge of it chill and falling into a much more comfortable sleep.
It was certain Steve had noticed you asleep he cuddled up closer behind you, releasing your hand to wrap his arms securely around you. No matter if you were big or smol the cuddles he got with you were unmatched, he loves that you trust him and Bucky to the point of telling them when you’re dysphoric because on those days its easy to wrap you up and hold you close, they always know just what to say to remind you that you’re the best boy in their life and they wouldn't change you for the world.
A sleepy smile on Steve’s face joined with your coos and murmurs should have told Bucky that you were asleep but he'd been so enthralled with the movie that when it got to a humorous part he cracked up loudly. his chest rattling with amusement when he feels a light smack against his thigh from Steve cueing him to look over to see you out like a light and the slightly disgruntled look of being pulled out of sleep.
"You’re okay sunshine, daddy’s just bein silly" Steve hushes and soothes, scooting closer and whispering in your ear "maybe if we cuddle attack him he will nap with us" knowing very well that Bucky could hear him, a smile growing on Bucky cheeks "what're you two scheming-hmm?" Causing you to trill in giggles "nuffin, dada's just tellin story"
"Hmmm, alrighty as long as he’s not bein sneaky" pretending to focus back on the movie Steve taps to on the shoulder telling you to get him, in a split second you’re sitting in his lap face buried in his neck and arms around his shoulders, Steve wrapping both of you together in a hug.
Sitting up to look at him your hands on his chest holding you up a geeky grin on your face you pat your hands a couple times as emphasis "ah-dada we gots you, its seepy time now" a shared smile on his cheeks aswell as he pulls you tightly to his chest "mmph you got me bug, i surrender, but only if my boy stays riiiight here" he tightens his grip as physical elaboration to his exclamation.
It only took a few minutes for all three of you to fall asleep comfy in each others arms, sharing warmth and love.
For the mission and future ones they got someone you trust from the avengers group to stay back and keep you less stressed even when youre little, which means sometimes one of your daddies is able to stay home with you while the other goes and brings justice.

if the world was ending you'd come over right?
genre: FLUFF, angst if you squint, a lil scary (if you're scared of storms), chan and y/n are whipped for each other but are shy about it
pairing: channie x gn!reader; (skz's) assistant!reader
warnings: description of storms 🌩️, mentions of anxiety
a/n: english is not my first language so if something is grammatically incorrect I'm sorry and feel free to inform me :)
[11 p.m.]
it was the scariest storm you'd ever seen, you were alone in your apartment and the thunder stroke loudly like if the whole world was falling apart, huge flashes of light invading the room every now and then, the power had went out and it was dark.
you looked into the hallway to check if the whole building was out, it was. the streetlights and some other buildings had light, so it was your buildings problem. and you had no idea how to fix it so you were just gonna wait patiently.
you were never scared of regular storms but this was nothing like it. this made you feel like the whole building was gonna colapse with the immense sound of roaring thunder, or like something terrible was gonna happen to you in the darkness of your apartment, courtesy of a few scary movies and your irrational anxiety.
the sound of thunder had made you have at least 5 jump scares by now, grabbing onto your plushie and petting your poor cat, who was terrified himself, you whimpered every once in a while in fear and you can't help but wish you weren't alone.
that's when your phone rang, the screen lighting up the room along with the few candles you'd lite. it made for a romantic and cosy ambiance, if only you weren't terrified to death, clutching yourself.
you pick up the phone realizing chan was calling, which was odd in the am, he sometimes called about something he'd need you to do in the company or to bring something over to the dorm, but at this hour it concerned you, specially in this storm, you wondered if they were okay, and so you picked up immediately.
"chan? what happened, are you and the kids ok?"
"yeah yeah it's all good, I just called to see if you were okay, i figured you might be scared of the storm and alone, i thought I'd check up on you" he said with that sweet voice of his, warmth immediately filling up your heart at the sound. oh to be in love with someone you work for. to be utterly and completely in love with someone who you have to take care of as your job, when you'd do it all for free.
your crush on chan was merely platonic (or so you believed) but how could you not be in love when he does things like these? like calling to check up on you in the middle of the storm.
you had been getting closer these past few months, it felt like you were friends, and you were terrified of your feelings for him, both as a professional and as a friend. sometimes it did feel like he was a little flirty or hinting at something, but in the end chan is just naturally charming, kind and supportive so you couldn't think too much of it.
"I'm a little scared, the power went out and the thunder is so loud it makes me shake but I'm holding up okay, it'll pass" you say with a small nervous laugh.
"should I come over? you sound terrified, are you alone? oh you live alone of course you are, I should take an uber and go, keep you company maybe take some food, I'll just go change, it's pouri-"
"chan you can't, are you insane? why would you do that? coming here in the pouring rain, risking having a car accident? no way! you stay home warm and cozy with the boys. I'm fine, really, I'm just a bit shook up, the thunder is too loud, feels like the whole world is falling apart, it's scary, but I'm okay"
"okay if you say so... I wouldn't mind going, but probably there aren't even any ubers around in this weather, I just didn't want you to feel alone. it really does feel like the world's about to end, I was just thinking about it and so I thought of you, I had to talk to you. sorry I can't be there for you right now y/n"
"what are you even apologizing for, chan? it's my job to take care of you. you shouldn't be worrying about me, you have so much work already, I don't want to add to your stress"
"yeah but I... it's not like I see you as a responsibility y/n... it's just how it's been, I can't help but worry about you, think about you, wanting to protect you all the time, i know it's not my job to but I can't help it. I hate the thought of you feeling hurt and alone, I had to check up on you."
"that's... awfully sweet of you but I really don't know why I've become a burden to you. you shouldn't be thinking about me at this hour chan, you should be resting."
"you're not a burden y/n, you're in my heart" how could he say something so beautiful to you just like that "I can't help but want you close" he continued.
"what does that- what're you even saying chan?" you say through a nervous laugh, your heart running at a thousand miles per hour wondering what he could really mean.
"y/n will you please just stay safe today and come over tomorrow? the news said tomorrow night there would be another huge storm, i want you here by my side to make sure you remain calm. we could even have a cosy night at the dorm... we could watch a movie and light up a few scented candles like the ones you like and eat cookies, drink hot chocolate... how's that sound? i think it's the perfect weather for that and you'll feel safe and comfy here."
"not gonna lie... that sounds a lot like you're asking me out on a-"
"a date, yes, I'm asking you out on a date, if that's okay"
"yeah... it sounds perfect and i don't want to go through this alone again" you say, still phased and blushing from what he had said.
"are you coming only because you're scared of the storm?" i can hear his grin through the phone somehow.
"you know that's not it, I'm just still a little surprised you're asking me out is all! i love spending time with you, that's why I'm going. it'll be great to get through the night with you, you make me feel safe so it'll be perfect, that's what I meant" your face feels warmer every second.
"I'm glad I make you feel that way sweetheart, you bring me so much comfort too, it's one of the reasons I asked you out in the first place... ever since you started taking care of us I haven't been able to imagine what it's like to be without you, you see through me like water and you always know the right things to say... i have so much to say to you but I think I'll save it for our date tomorrow haha"
"okay, that's enough making me blush for today too, thank you so much, for taking care of me I mean"
"from now on I'll be taking care of you so get used to it ^_^ try to get some rest then and I'll see you tomorrow? stay safe"
"yeah, I'll see you tomorrow (灬º‿º灬) bye chan, get some rest too!"

Puppet Boy Chapter 3
Mind and Body
Previous next
Mk sipped a warm cup of hot chocolate as rain poured down outside. The way the liquid fell down his throat felt… different. Though his brain knew it was warm there was a certain coldness to it that felt off. A familiar pain pierced through his heart making Mk clutch his chest. Glancing down at his hand, Mk examined Red Son’s handy craftsmanship. The details, joints moving flawlessly, almost natural. Though something was… off. Not just his physical body, but his mind as well. He couldn't feel how his hair brushed against his forehead, or how the hot cocoa warmed his hands. It felt fake. He felt fake.
Red Son knocked gently before opening the door to her workshop, “Mk? I brought a Blanket so…” She stopped, raising a brow as Mk stared at his hand. “Are you alright?”
Mk perked up, turning towards Red son with a smile, “Thanks! It was getting a bit chilly in here” Mk got up, placing the cup down and heading over to Red Son.
“But you're wearing your jacket?” She commented, Mk glanced down, a bit surprised himself, “Ah! I guess so!” he chuckled awkwardly, '' I don't know, I've been feeling cold no matter how much I warm up, is that weird?”
“Hm. well your mind has probably just not adjusted to your new body yet. Just try to keep warm around the fire or...” Red Son threw the blanket over Mk’s shoulders with a smile, “a blanket!”
Mk snickered and pulled it tightly around him, “Ahh! I’m already so cozy!” , Red Son let out a chuckle, her eyes holding a certain sadness, before Mk could comment on it she was already on her way out the door,
“Wait! Hold on- where are you going?” Mk rushed over to her side once more.
“Oh! I guess I forgot to tell you, Mei and I have been training ever since the uh… ya know. It helped her harness and control her new powers really well, she can go 15 minutes without blowing anything up now.”
“Wow!!! That's Amazing! We need to go right away, c’mon i-” Mk walked towards the front door, Red Son stopping him with a hand.
“Whoa whoa- sorry Noodle boy but this is off limits.”
“What!? But I haven't seen Mei- or or- Pigsy and Tang… Sandy… or.. Monkey King in forever! They must still think I'm-... Red Son come on!”
The bull child sighed, turning towards Mk once again, “They do and I'm not sure how they'll react once they see you. None of them even… know I did this.”
“WHAT!?”
“Okay okay, look it sounds bad but we just need to introduce you slowly! I mean, I don't know how I'd react if someone showed up on my doorstep saying they were my dead friend.”
“But… I'm not dead anymore. I don't even really remember anything from WHEN I was dead…”
“But THEY do. You've been gone for months. Just… let me try to bring it up with Mei today, alright?”
Mk furrowed his brows, sighing and nodding as he waved Red Son off. The rain was still pounding outside as Mk watched her ride off on her motorcycle.
Mk turned his back to the window pressing his back against the wall, sliding down until he was fully sitting, looking up at the ceiling before turning his attention back on his hands. The silver metal shone as torches from the wall lit up the room. There was a permanent ice in the air. Was he the only one who could feel it? Why could he only feel it? I mean… Red Son IS made of fire. Maybe Mei will feel it when she comes over… and what about Monkey King? He must be worried sick.
Mk slouched, the longer he sat, the more his hands twitched with anxiety, and his heart raced. He quickly got up, stomping to the bathroom,
“I just need to clear my head… that's all.” he turned the hot water on, running his hand under it. Static, it didn’t hurt and though the water was scolding. Mk furrowed his brows before taking a hand full of water, bending down and throwing it on his face. The water roared as he turned up the pressure, splashing water on his face over and over. It was all the same. Lukewarm. Lukewarm. Lukewarm. Mk’s heart started to pound as he finally lifted his face out of the sink, staring into the mirror.
A flash of a blue monkey-like figure entered his vision only to disappear as fast as it appeared, the robot quickly turned around to see nothing. He was completely and utterly alone. Labored breath escaped his lungs as he tried to steady himself. Grabbing the hand towel aside from the sink and wiping his face down, “Why isn't it hot?...” he whispered to himself, “It’s scolding…. Why doesn't it hurt?... Is it this body?” he glanced down at his hands once more, seeing small ice crystals form on the tips of his fingers.
His heart jumped, quickly putting his hand under the sink once more as they quickly melted. “I just… need some sleep. This is all just… a bad dream.” Mk turned the water off, stumbling out of the bathroom while clenching his stomach in dread.
It's just a dream, he reminded himself.
All of this is just a dream.
He quickly crawled onto the metal table he had originally had woken up on, it didn’t matter if it was comfortable or not. Everything felt the same anyway. Mk quickly closed his eyes, trying to make his heart and mind calm down, soon enough he fell asleep, not by relaxation but by force.
Mk woke up, laying on the ground of an all white empty room, stumbling up he quickly glanced around, then down at his hands again. Tan skin, just like before! Mk laughed in triumph, stomping his feet happily as his brown tail curled up in excitement, “Yes! Yes!! I knew it, all just a bad dream! All i need to do now is…” He glanced around the infinite void, “find… a way out.” uncertainty laced his voice as he swallowed the growing lump in his throat, wandering the liminal space. There was no shaking the feeling of eyes on him at all times. Someone, who he couldn’t see, was watching him. Mk crept around, turning around every so often to make sure no one was behind him.
The room stretched on, with no end in sight, until suddenly, over the horizon line, a figure stood next to a light blue, almost translucent tree.
The figure floated atop their staff facing away from Mk, shiny armor beamed to Mk’s eyes as he got closer, as the two blue feathers in his hair tossed a nonexistent wind. Was that…
“MONKEY KING!” Mk smiled, tears leaving his eyes as he rushed towards his mentor, “oh my gosh! It's so great to see you! I didn’t know you were here! Do you uh- know where we are? I'm… not quite sure I-” Mk's breath stopped as he turned towards monkey king’s face. Was he… blue?
Sun Wukong turned his head towards Mk, a forced smile on his face as he stood atop his staff, a small skull brooch in the center of his forehead. “Good to see you again bud! I've been stuck in here awhile…”
Mk took a step back, rubbing his arm as a clear sense of dread spread across his face, “Why… uhm… why are you?...”
“Blue? Oh! It's a good question. I’m… not really sure why! It probably has something to do with our last battle with Lady Bone Demon! I'm kinda… stuck in the armor she put me in…” Wukong floated down so he was face to face with Mk, tail wrapped around his staff as he hovered a bit above the ground.
“And… the brooch?...”
“Oh! Well, I have a working theory… When Lady Bone Demon put that skull on your soul, I think she locked a part of ME away with it. I'm not sure which but…” he motioned to himself, “this part. Either way, we’re connected now… that's probably why I'm here.” He shrugged.
Mk nodded, “alright…”, he took another step back.
Wukong sighed, “I understand you still are suspicious. Don't worry bud, I would be too.” he smiled, again it was strained. “I don't expect you to trust me at first. Let's just… take it slow. Alright?” He sat Mk down, sitting across from him with his legs folded. “This must be all pretty confusing for you… being resurrected and such.”
Mk perked up, “how… Do you know about that?”
Wukong's eyes widened as he started to chuckle, “I've been right by your side this whole time kid! Like I said, we're bonded now! Whenever you need me just call and I'll be there!”
Mk glanced down at his hands once more than nodded, “Right… well- this is getting a little too weird for me. I'm gonna talk to the real Monkey King and I'll be back. ” He quickly stood up, waving off.
Wukong gave a slight chuckle, before waving him off, “You’re talking to him. See you tomorrow Mk.” He muttered as Mk faded from the void.
Mk’s eyes flickered open, his head throbbing as he woke up once more on the cold table, Red Son sleeping at the foot in a cheap chair.
Mk smiled gently, repositioning so his legs dangle off the table, watching the still pounding rain rage outside, “Soon. everything will be back to normal.”

May I please request number 12. Bite Marks and number 14. Carving for Nagito Komaeda? thank you so much :)
Will do! Thank you for requesting ^-^ I will give you some submissive yandere and trickster darling today. Tomorrow? Who knows. I will say, I’d rate it mature, but nothing really happens.
Bite marks - “You.. love me right.. not them? Oh god please say you love me..!!”
Carving - “Please! You can use me all you like don’t leave me!”
»»———————— ♡ ————————««
“I love you.”
The clanking of the food tray crashing to the ground was your smallest concern at that moment. You kept your eyes pinned to the ceiling, not acknowledging Nagito’s shock in favor of maintaining the surprise as nonchalant as possible. It wasn’t the time to give him satisfaction; it was merely time to make him fret a little.
“But Hajime... I’m not sure. I keep thinking about him. Wondering what he’s been up to since I left. Maybe that’s love too?”
The gulp he did was audible, as you mentioned his former friend. You had never tried before or even thought that it might affect Nagito to talk about your feelings, rather than the feelings you had towards him after he kidnapped and strapped you to a bed. His mouth opened and closed a few times as he wanted to say something, but aside from small croaks, nothing escaped from his vocals.
Ignoring the fallen tray, he walked back to your bed, standing beside you like the creep he was. Nagito staring down at you wasn’t a comfortable ordeal, and you never knew what he thought as he watched you quietly. Sadly, this had become too much of a norm to bother you anymore. Did he figure out you were pulling at his heartstrings with well-placed words and doubts? Would Nagito see through your lies?
Sinking to his knees, he leaned on the mattress, peering at you sharply. But him fidgeting gave away that he tried to play it cool while, really, he was just his usual self - a mess. Intrigued, needy, and most importantly, desperate for any acknowledgment from you.
“[Name], say it again,” he asked timidly, but he couldn’t hide the desire cracking in his voice.
“Do you think it’s possible? Loving two people?” you continued, undeterred by Nagito’s need.
Immediately, a hand snapped forward, moderating itself before it laid down on the cheek furthest away from him, pushing to have you turn your head. Finally, you looked at him. Immediately, you found the disgusting satisfaction he felt from receiving your gaze on him, plastered all over his face. “Say you love me again,” Nagito urged. You were disgusted by his touch, his thumb caressing your cheek so very affectionately, but you would take it if it helped fulfill your plan.
“But I’m not sure, maybe I love Hajime--”
“No, no, no!” he yelled suddenly. Before long, both hands were cupping your face in them while his legs climbed over you. “You said you love me! You love me! Me!” One moment, Nagito seemed pained by you speaking another man’s name, his hands shaking and eyes wildly searching for clues that would confirm him. But now that your mouth kept quiet, you saw a familiar yet strange sense of despair crawling into his expression.
“You.. love me, right... not him? Oh god, please say you love me!”
Nagito took a deep breath, and you knew that he’d begin to talk like a waterfall now, almost unstoppable. If you weren’t talking to him, he’d monologue as long as needed to calm himself and some more, getting himself off the desperation and desire he felt. But not this time, not when you wouldn’t let him.
“I love you,” you stated as a matter of fact. It wasn’t supposed to sound happy, nor outright like sarcasm, you had to declare it as if it was no big deal or Nagito would see through your charade.
“Ah,” he sighed, lips curling into a smile while his face flushed red. “You do love me,” he muttered, his expression gradually becoming more distorted from happiness. “You love me, too! Finally! I loved you all this time. Every second since we met, I loved you. I love you! You love me!”
Nothing you could have done against him leaning down, lifting your head as much as your restraints allowed, kissing you. He did it before, and as always, it was a sloppy, needy kiss, just this time, you moved your lips ever so slightly to reciprocating it. Spurred on by your actions, Nagito deepened it, moans shuddering over his lips while he kept demanding more and more. Disgusted, you gave it to him, let him have it. Waited for him to pull away first to take a breather.
He had closed his eyes for the kiss, but when he opened them again, you immediately caught them with yours. Panting against your lips, when he approached again, you denied him the kiss ever so slightly, causing him to whine softly. He had no reason to stop but perhaps, not wanting to be hated again, did it for him.
“Untie me,” you whispered seductively, pressing your lips to his briefly before pulling away, watching as he leaned in for more. “Let me love you, Nagito.”
There was so much fighting with himself, all of it showing in his expression. However, the part of him that didn’t think it was a good idea to free you slowly but surely lost to the one that wanted so desperately to be loved by you. Wholly and fully, and hopefully with remaining marks as to always remember.
This time when he leaned in for a kiss, you let him, pleased him by returning the affection. It was the test to see if you genuinely were devoted, some part of his mind careful of not being scammed by you. But with you two eagerly exchanging your breaths, his doubts melted away until he finally pulled his hands from your face to reach above you two, fiddling with the ropes around your wrists.
The tugs and pulls hurt, but it was nothing compared to the racing of your heart, the knowledge this was working. He really was freeing you. He really was doing it! You felt your hand collapse onto the bed the moment the rope stopped holding it in place. The wound was throbbing, but you only strained your neck to kiss him more, packed with excitement and urging him on. His hesitation before untying the second rope disappeared, and he began to loosen it even quicker.
“[Name]... [Name]!” he kept calling out to you as if you’d disappear if he didn’t speak up. You soothed his anxiety with your presence, allowing your bodies to warm each other, used all your strength to move your arm at least forward again. Nagito sunk into your palm even though you couldn’t use it properly.
Like a child into the affection of a parent, he was so damn naive.
It was just a matter of time now. You did it carefully, using him and his desire to be touched and caressed by you to train your hands, do what had to be done. Even if it meant you had Nagito rub all over you, impatiently waiting for more of your love and affection, you knew it would at least keep him unaware and well-disposed to the biggest part of your plan.
Finally, you managed to use your arms again. They still hurt and strained upon moving, but you took that in exchange for your freedom. Hugging Nagito, you fogged his mind with another deep kiss, pressing your body against him until he caved away, the position changing quickly. Now on top of him, you giggled and played along, pushing his arms back over his head and driving your hands over them promisingly.
“Let me tie you up, alright? I want to be the one giving you all the love. You don’t need to do even a single thing.”
Nagito froze, having the same kind of fight with himself that he had before untying you, but you simply cozied up to him, kissed from his temples to his chin. “Pretty please? Let me make it up to you and show you my love,” you purred, feeling absolutely disgusted by the pleading implications in your words. But whatever needed to be done, you were willing to do.
“O-Okay,” he finally agreed, shivering lightly while you grinned. “You’re such a good boy,” you praised him as you slowly but surely wrapped the rope around his wrists. “I love you, [Name],” he whimpered, trying to hide the pain he felt as you pulled the ropes skin-tight. “I know,” you pressed out from between your teeth. “I fucking know.”
Leaning back after securing the triple knot, you let your head fall into your neck, looking up at the ceiling one last time. You had seen it so much the last few days, counted all the holes in it and spiders crawling over it. But no longer. And you didn’t care if Nagito would have to rot down here for all eternity either. “What a shit hole,” you complained, inelegantly climbing off him and onto your feet.
Immediately dizziness hit you as you stood straight up again, but this would be the last thing stopping you now. Your legs seemed to have trouble keeping you on top of them, but holding on to chairs standing around and the walls did the trick, leading you towards the door. “[Name]? Where are you going?” Nagito called after you. “Hey! Don’t leave me--”
“Shut up, Nagito. It’s over,” you hissed back over your shoulder. “I am getting out of here! I am not staying even one second longer!”
“No... wait!”
The cold, iron door felt heavenly against your irritated skin. It felt like happiness and freedom, and you were so thankful for reaching it after everything you went through. By now, Nagito couldn’t see you anymore, but you heard him frantically tearing on the ropes. Luckily, they were solid and reliable, even after all the strain you had applied to them.
“Please! You can use me all you like, but don’t leave me!” Nagito screamed after you, and you could hear his voice cracking. He must have been crying, but you were the last one to feel pity for him. Instead, you pushed down the door handle, not wanting to spend one more second in this depressing room. You were so close, only one step away from it.
But the door didn’t open.
Rattling it, you kept pushing and pulling at it, growing more and more frustrated every time it didn’t move. You knew it could open. You had heard it work for Nagito more than once!
Nagito.
Glaring back, it was quiet in the room. He should have been bawling his eyes out by now, screamed, and begged. And yet, nothing echoed around you; only the small sounds of a chuckle reached your ears.
Furious, you stomped back to him, pushing aside everything that was in the way. “Where’s the key!” you screamed, repeating the question with every step. “Where’s the fucking key!”
When you reached him, all that remained on his face was something akin to a pitying smile, eyes that were no less condescending than yours were. “Oh, Darling,” he muttered. “There never was a key. We are in a bunker, underground, buried. The only way to get out of here now...”
Nagito paused, taking a deep breath, his smile only growing while you felt your heart drop and your last nerves popping. “Ah, beautiful,” he whispered, looking at you, knowing one thing for sure.
“How do I get out,” you asked him, trying to remain calm.
“It’s despairing, isn’t it?” Nagito replied undeterred, playing your very own game.
It was.
“You’re feeling absolute despair, now that you realize you are stuck here with me. And if I die, you won’t ever find out how to leave. Isn’t it truly beautiful? I am so lucky to be stuck with you now; even dying from your negligence won’t bother me, you know?”
“How. Do I. Get out,” you repeated your question, your voice shivering from anger.
“Ah, maybe I will remember,” he teased you. “But only if you give me the love you promised me. Pretty please? I know I am insatiable, but if you really want to know...”
Feeling your whole world crumble to ashes around you, you knew he would never tell you. If it even was true that you weren’t just in a storage depot or bunker- and you’d make sure by destroying this whole place in search of a key - you needed him to guide you to get out from the underground he described. Needed to do what he wanted you. Needed to love him.
And you wondered if right from the beginning, he had known what you planned to do and decided to play the puppet caught in your strings.
Little had you expected Nagito to be the puppeteer all along.

The cool October air had a bit of a bite to it -- it seemed as though Bill and Fleur’s wedding was ages ago. You wrapped a blanket around your shoulders to reduce the chill in your bones.
Suddenly two redheaded figures appeared with a pop! onto the field outside of your home. By what you could see, they’d apparated just before the line of protective enchantments -- a type of advanced magic only a very intelligent wizard could do.
“Bloody hell -- you’re a life saver, you know that?” George exclaimed as he finally reached you, wrapping you in a warm embrace. “I couldn’t be there for one more moment.”
Fred rolled his eyes and explained, “He means at Auntie Muriel’s. Being a bit overdramatic, are we, George?”
The elder twin shot his younger brother a look of amusement as George dropped his bag onto the floor and ran a hand through his hair. “Overdramatic? Tell me, Fred, would you like to go back?”
Fred then draped an arm across your shoulder and peered at his brother. “And reject our best mate’s offer to spend time at her lovely home? That would be so rude.” George swore he saw his twin shudder a bit, no doubt at the thought of returning to their Auntie Muriel’s to endure more yelling and criticism. George shot him a very sardonic look, and laughed lightly.
“Glad you two decided to come -- it’ll be nice having someone else in the house. I haven’t had a proper night’s sleep in months,” you waved your wand to pull three teacups from the kitchen cupboard and started the kettle. You felt a sense of ease at having your two closest friends here. “Should be alright out here, at least for a while.”
Fred glimpsed around your tiny little house. It was small, but exceptionally tidy with a very cozy feeling to it. It looked much different than the Burrow, but still emanated that feeling of home. “Lovely place you’ve got.”
“Thanks, Freddie,” you replied, handing him a steaming cup of tea. He gingerly took it out of your hands. “Just one problem.”
The twins chorused together, “What?”
“I’ve only got one extra bed.”
If the room hadn’t gone so eerily still at your comment, you never would have noticed the small jab to the hip George gave his twin. Fred grunted a bit and stifled a cough. “Oh, no worry -- George already said he’ll take the floor.”
Fred earned himself an eye roll and another jab.
You waved them both off and blew on your tea. “Don’t be silly! I’ll take the floor. You two’ve just got to battle it out for who gets the bigger bed.”
As if on queue, George immediately hoisted his bag back over his shoulder. He began walking away and pointed toward your very tiny spare bedroom off of the kitchen. “This one here, yeah? Thanks again, Y/N, really appreciate you letting us escape the wrath of our aunt -- I’m absolutely knackered, hope you two don’t mind if I turn in!” and with a quick wave to you and Fred, George closed the door and you both almost immediately heard very loud snoring. You and Fred exchanged a laugh.
You made sure everything was in order for Fred before leading him to your room. But you noticed he hadn’t brought his stuff with him -- you saw his belongings near your front door. With a wave of your wand, you brought it forward.
“I’m really okay to sleep on the couch,” he told you, pointing back toward the front.
“I’m not going to have you sleep on the couch,” you replied, shaking your head. “Besides -- you’re not staying out there. I might be a bit dramatic, but the couch is too close to the windows and the front door, and though I’ve been safe here for a while..” you voice trailed off a bit, and you swallowed down the nerves bubbling up inside of you. “Just -- we never know where the Death Eaters are. You take the bed, I’ll take the couch.”
You patted Fred’s shoulder, ready to head back out to your front room, when he took your wrist in his hand and whirled you back around to face him. “If I’m not allowed to take the couch, neither are you.”
You crossed your arms and swallowed. “Fine,” you replied with a grin. “Have got tons of extra pillows and a massive blanket here somewhere -- let me go and fetch it. Go on then, make yourself comfortable.”
“Merlin, you are being thick today,” Fred chuckled, and you noticed traces of the young boy you grew to love. He caressed small circles on the back of your hand. “Would you just sleep in your own bed?”
“But --” your breath caught in your throat. You glanced at your own bed, easily big enough for two, maybe even three, and went against your better judgement before you could overthink it. “Just share with me, then. Nobody takes the floor.”
A hint of nervousness flashed across his features before twisting into a cheeky grin. You continued on when he stayed silent, “What’s the matter, Freddie? You’ve been my best mate for the better half of the last twenty years. I mean, I’ve seen you in your bunny slippers, for Merlin’s sake --” Fred flinched uncomfortably at the memory of you catching him, late one evening in Gryffindor tower, in bunny slippers his mum had knitted for him as a child. You had never let him forget it.
His grin deepened alongside the crimson red colour of his cheeks. “Listen, woman, they are soft and keep me nice and toasty, alright?”
“Whatever you say,” you replied before sliding yourself underneath your warm blanket. You patted the other side of the bed in an accidental sensual way and realized how that must’ve come across. You quickly cleared your throat and turned off the light before you could see his reaction. “Erm -- there are extra pillows on the couch if you need.”
You felt his body slide in next to yours, and you could still make out some of his facial features from the faint light of the lightning strikes outside. He was definitely still grinning. “I’m fine, really.”
You figured out quite quickly that neither of you were able to sleep, especially because it was only eleven p.m. and because of the wild wind and rain that were howling outside of your window. The words were spilling out of you before you could help it. “Fred?”
He turned on his side to face you. “Yeah?”
You were laying on your back, looking up at your ceiling in the darkness. “Are you afraid?”
When he didn’t answer right away, you turned your head to face him too. Each time the lightning struck it was bright and vibrant, and highlighted his features in a more intimate way than ever before. He threaded his brows together and took a deep breath. “Yeah, I am.”
It was weirdly comforting hearing him say that he was afraid. The man who didn’t have a serious bone in his body was actually scared. It was strange and unnerving and brought a sense of solace to you all at once.
You sucked in a breath, worried that your normal evening anxiety would show solely through the look in your eyes. You turned away to glance toward the ceiling again when you felt Fred brush his fingers gently against yours under the covers. Your breath hitched at the contact.
“I think it’ll be okay though.”
“How can you be sure?”
“I suppose I can’t..” it was so weird, hearing him speak like this. He shifted again. “I just think.. we’re more prepared than before. Think there’s more of us this time. Besides, we’ve done our studying, and we’re all brilliant wizards.”
A smile tugged at the edges of your mouth. “You are kind of brilliant.”
“Wow,” he breathed, and it was almost a whisper. You noticed the way the edges of his eyes crinkled as he smiled. “Can I get that in writing?”
“Care to return the compliment first?”
“Hang on,” he replied, placing his hands behind his head in a bit of a relaxed state. “I need to bask in this for a moment.”
“Oh shove off, you git!”
You playfully swatted him before he retaliated. Soon enough you were both sitting upright, thwacking one another with pillows and laughing into the darkness of the night. Fred fell to the floor with a dull thump, and you stifled lots of giggles and shushed him as he slid back into bed next to you. “You’re going to wake up George!”
You weren’t sure how long the two of you were swatting at one another. It could’ve been hours, or perhaps days. But then the storm grew more fierce, and you found yourself scooting closer to him in bed. Fred always had a way of making you forget about everything going on around you. It was always surprising to you how you’d be able to drown out the rest of the world, as long as you listened to him talk, or as long as you watched him work on his inventions with gentle hands. Even in lessons, back in school, when he’d teasingly wink at you from across the classroom, you were pretty much rendered completely useless for the rest of the day. When it was just you and him, the rest of the world might as well not even exist.
He must’ve noticed how you zoned out, because he asked, “What’s on your mind?”
You turned on your side to face him fully this time. “Just reminiscing.”
“Yeah? About what?”
“Remember when we bumped into one another in the corridors during our fourth year -- I was sneaking sweets up from the kitchens, and you were attempting to sneak into one of the classrooms to finish working on inventions?” You smiled at the memory. “And then Filch was roaming around, and we nearly got caught?”
Fred laughed. You were happy that he remembered. “Never sprinted back to the common room so quickly in my life. That ruddy cat of his was clawing at my ankles.”
“Between the fact that I’d hardly gotten any sleep that night and the adrenaline rush, I was bloody exhausted.”
Fred snorted. “Yeah, you fell asleep in the armchair next to the fire almost immediately when we returned and began to snore rather loudly, if my memory serves me correct.”
You grinned, not skipping a beat. “Yeah, my snoring is almost as embarrassing as those slippers of yours.”
You expected him to groan and throw another pillow in your direction, but instead he just deepened his smile and reached out and placed his hand next to yours on the edge of his pillow, your fingers almost touching. “I dunno -- I thought it was cute.”
You really hoped the steady drumbeat sound of your heart was drowned out by the sounds of the thunder outside. You weren’t so sure though. “Yeah?”
He wet his lips and nodded. “I remember having to wake you up because it was nearly four a.m. -- fire had died out and you looked so uncomfortable in that armchair -- I just wanted to carry you upstairs. Except..” Yeah, jinxes by the professors at each respective staircase. Boys weren’t allowed in the girls dorms, and vice versa. You knew exactly what he was getting at.
You felt a swift surge of confidence overtake you, so you gently moved your fingers a few centimeters before you slowly intertwined them with his. He didn’t flinch. Your voice was softer than you expected. “What else do you remember about that night?”
It was an opening -- you didn’t want to be so blatantly obvious about it, but Fred could always read you like a book. You hoped he still could, after all these years. Luckily for the both of you, nothing had changed. He took the opening. “I remember wanting to kiss you.”
You bit your lip, hoping to suppress the nerves that were bubbling up inside of you like fizzy champagne.
Fred laughed cheekily. “Never got a chance, though.”
Before you could think more on it, you nudged his leg with your toes and scooted closer to him. You could see the steady rise and fall of his chest, you were so close. “Then kiss me now.”
His mouth parted slightly in surprise, but nevertheless he inched forward and caught your lips with his. They were soft -- softer than you ever could have imagined, and so was the kiss itself. He tasted faintly of mint, and and you found yourself breathing in deeper when he trailed one solitary finger across your jawline and down your neck. The feel of him against you warmed up your entire body in a way that the common room fire never could.
He sighed against your lips before reluctantly pulling away. “Mmm we should’ve been doing this the entire time,”
You laughed softly and brought your fingers to your lips, hoping to still feel that electricity. “Yeah, we probably should have.”
All thoughts of the war seemed to subside as he leant in to kiss you again. Somehow, being with him, your limbs entangled together -- it was enough to make you forget about the war on the horizon, everything that was about to happen. As far as you were concerned, as long as Fred was beside you, tangled in the covers of your bed, everything would be alright.
He tucked a piece of hair behind your ear. There was a mischievous glint in his eyes. His voice was rough and sensual and soft all at the same time as he wiggled his eyebrows at you. “Thanks for inviting me to sleep in your bed.”
You grinned and raked your bottom lip through your teeth. “Yeah, well, like you said -- we should’ve been doing this the entire time. Figured I’d get a jump start on what we’ve missed.”
He laughed and wrapped his arms tightly around your hips. Goosebumps sprouted on your skin as he lazily trailed his fingers up and down your spine and told you, “Knew you were my favorite for a reason.”

miami
request: "if you're still in the mood to write.... maybe something cute about going to miami with john and the boys in '64? 💗" okay i'm so sorry if this didn't turn out the way you imagined. i just started writing and got carried away and it might not be super "cute", it has some angst but also fluff. if this is nothing like what you asked for, please let me know and i will do my best to write something else <3
word count: 3.3k oops
pairing: john lennon x f!reader
warnings: accidentaly angsty, mild verbal abuse (?) not really tho, arguments, achohol, annoying men at the pub and probably bad grammar and typos.
summary: john comes home from the studio and can't wait to tell y/n some great news; they're going to miami! but y/n is unsure and that causes some conflicts.
7 p.m. Since it’s August, and the end of summer has begun, when you lifted your head from your book and turned to look out the window - you could see the sun already setting. The entire sky was a perfect blend of warm oranges, purples and blues. The sunrays’ vibrance and warm colors seemed to find their way straight to your heart and a smile slowly showed up on your face.
It was hard not to fall in love with evenings like these. The living room was dark, only the light from a floor lamp in the corner of the room and a couple of candles lit up the room. But it was nice, cozy even. Right next to the couch’s arm rest stood a little wooden side table with a record player on top of it, softly playing “Love me Tender” by Elvis Presley - a classic choice. Everything was at peace and you were content, the only thing missing was John. Sure, you supposed you enjoyed a bit of you-time every now and then but you would be lying if you said you didn’t prefer to be alone with John. He was your partner, and your safe spot. As an all-the-time-busy woman you didn’t get the perks those other housewives got; You didn’t get to spend all day at home and you didn’t get to make dinner for your husband when he got home from work. But the thing was, that’s not what you wanted anyways. You enjoyed working, you enjoyed running errands all day, and most of all you enjoyed getting home after a long day at the office and cook dinner together with John.
With all these beautiful thoughts passing your head you found yourself missing John a lot more than just minutes before. When was he going to come back from the studio? He left at seven this morning, he’s been away for over twelve hours now. But right as you turned your head away from the clock on the wall, to dive back down in your book, the front door flew open. And with it, John came storming in. Hastily he tried to rip off his coat, throw off his shoes and started to unbuckle his belt. You simply stared at him in disbelief. Maybe you took back what you had said earlier about not enjoying time alone in complete silence. What the hell was the hurry about? Now John had rushed to your shared bedroom and you could hear him rummaging through the drawers. You shook your head and put down your book to stand up and walk over to the bedroom door frame. Crossing your arms over your chest you continued watching him throw out clothes from different drawers, waiting for him to even notice you.
“Care to say ‘Hello’?” you spoke up with a slight annoyance. His head shot up to look at you with wide open eyes, it was like he froze for a second. He let go of whatever he had in his hands to walk over to where you stood, opened his arms to embrace you. With a kiss on your head he let go of you.
“Of course, of course. Hello, dear. I’m sorry.” he hastily said. Just as you were about to ask him what on earth he was doing, making the bedroom a complete mess, he opened his mouth to speak again.
“We got great- no, fantastic, news today! You won’t be able to believe it, we’re going to Miami!” he said with excitement, face lit up with joy. “They’ve already got it all figured out with flights and hotel. And the best part; you’re coming with us!” John almost burst with excitement at this point. He waited for you to jump in his arms cheering. But you didn’t. And in no time John’s facial expression completely changed. He now had a confused look on his face. His brows were furrowed and his eyes filled with questions. He took a step back from you in an attempt to understand why you weren’t just as frantic as he was.
“Love, what’s wrong? We’re going to Miami!” he asked. You sighed, letting go of a heavy breath you didn’t know you had been holding. Your shoulders fell as you looked down on your feet. Fiddling with your fingers, you were unsure of what to tell him.
“I- uh… John, I can’t go to Miami” you started, eyes still on the floor.
“What do you mean you can’t go? You always talk about how you want to go on vacation to all these different places” he said in confusion. “Besides, it’s only two weeks” he stated. You didn’t know what to tell him. Two weeks. That’s a long time, you thought for yourself. You thought about your parents, and your job. You visited your parents about every other day, they lived nearby and since they were getting old you felt a responsibility over them. You have helped them get groceries and run errands for a large number of years now, you couldn’t just leave. What if something should happen to them, like an accident and one of them needs to get rushed to the hospital? Anxiety rose inside you as horrible thoughts crossed your mind. And work, you couldn’t just leave work behind you for two weeks. Not even for two days. Working in an office meant piles and piles of paperwork every day. You couldn’t imagine what your desk would look like when you got back from Miami, if you went. No, you simply could not go with them. You walked over to the bed and sat down. You sighed once more before you started to explain to him.
“I can’t leave my parents here, or work. You know that.” you said looking up at him with doe eyes. “What if something happens when I’m not here? No one will be there to help. And work, I will have sky high piles of paperwork on my desk when I return” you continued.
John let out a loud sigh, he sounded almost frustrated? He started walking back and forth in front of you and you stood up. Placing a hand on his shoulder you started saying “John, I’m sorry but I just-” but you got interrupted immediately.
“No. Stop. I don’t want to hear your excuses. You’re just being ungrateful. I arranged a vacation for you, to bloody Miami, and you say you can’t go because you won’t be able to take care of your adult parents for two weeks?” he snapped unexpectedly.
Your jaw dropped. Did he just say that? No, unacceptable. You would not let anyone talk down on things you held close to heart, and especially not your parents. You felt your face heat up with anger and your body fill up with adrenaline. This was not gonna be pretty.
“You did not just say that…” you started, still in disbelief. “How dare you say that?!” you spat, raising your voice at him. “Don’t you dare talk down on my parents! You know damn well how special they are to me. They have helped me so much in my life, they gave me the childhood every child deserves. The very least I can do to return the favor is to take care of them” you were almost shouting at this point, tears had begun streaming down your face. “But I guess you don’t understand that, you don’t have your parents” you muttered and you regretted every word of that sentence the second they were said.
“What did you just say?” John began quietly. You frantically shook your head. “No… no, I’m so sorry John. I didn’t mean to say that” you tried but it was too late. “Did I hear that right?” he raised his voice. “You’re standing there, shouting at me for ‘talking down on your parents’ and then you proceed to add that you assume I don’t understand because I don’t HAVE any parents?” he, too, was shouting now. “Do you hear yourself right now?” he asked angrily. You didn’t answer, you were in chock. You had to admit you were a little scared even. “I said, do you hear what you are saying right now?” he repeated with a military-like voice. You couldn’t handle this, you had to get away from this situation. You quickly grabbed your purse and wallet, put on your shoes and grabbed a coat, stormed out the front door and one second later you were gone. You didn’t know where you were going though. You couldn’t go to your parents house, you didn’t want to bother them having to explain what had just gone down. Your only, and best, friend was away on vacation, so you couldn’t escape to her house either. Ha, ironic, you thought to yourself.
You were just walking with no destination. You passed a pub, stopped, took a few steps back and decided to have a look. You entered the bar and was greeted by the smile of a middle aged man standing behind the bar. He was holding several bottles at once, making drinks for the people sat on the bar stools in front of him. You simply smiled back to him and took a seat on a free bar stool.
“What can I get for a lady like you?” the man asked politely. You gave him a fake smile. What was ‘a lady like you’ supposed to mean?
“I want a glass of whatever the strongest alcohol you have in store” you answered while straightening your back. The man looked surprised but then nodded, immediately getting started on your drink. One moment later the drink was put on the table in front of you. “That’ll be £4 then” the bartender said, still with that ridiculous smile on his face. You started digging in your wallet for some money as a male voice was heard behind you. “I’ll pay for that” the man said. You turned around to see who this man was and when you looked up you saw a tall man with slicked back hair, wearing an expensive-looking suit. He looked like the typical red-flag-guy. You’ve met a lot of those in your life, so you knew one when you saw one. You shook your head telling him you had money of your own, but thanking him for his kindness. “No, no, I’ll pay. A lady like you shouldn’t have to pay for her drinks” the man insisted, a distasteful grin showing up on his face. What’s it with all these creepy men and saying ‘a lady like you’, you thought. At this point you had almost finished your drink, but that man was not going to give up on you any time soon. You were getting tired of his ‘but you’re such a pretty lady’ and ‘I bet you I could treat you better than your man at home, I mean, why are you at a pub alone anyway?’ bullshit. You took a last sip of your drink and slammed it down on the table, catching the people around you's attention. “Fine, you can pay for my drink” you said monotonically. “But don’t you ever call me a ‘pretty lady’ again”.
Grabbing your purse you stood up and walked out the door. You had had enough. With a fast pace you instinctually started walking back home. After a few minutes of walking you felt a wave of fear wash over you. The anxiety kicked in and suddenly you were crying. You were not far away from home when you started running for your life. And as if things couldn’t get any worse, rain started pouring down. What was wrong with these men?! Can’t they leave a woman alone? The adrenaline made you run faster than you thought was possible but you suddenly stopped when you realized you had reached your front door. Your first instinct was to just open the door but you soon got reminded of what had happened before you left. So instead you took a few deep breaths and gently knocked on the door while trying to pull yourself together. But as the door opened and a man you deep down loved so dearly stood in the doorway with a tired smile, you lost it. You ran into his arms and to your relief he put his arms around you and held you close to his chest. Hearing his heartbeat immediately calmed you down and you closed the door behind the two of you. John helped you out of your clothes and into new warm ones. He made you a cup of tea and sat down beside you on the couch. He did keep a small distance though.
“I’m so sorry, John, I really am. It was a horrible thing for me to say” you shuddered, still cold from the rain. You could hear a quiet sigh come from John.
“It was, yes. But I forgive you, y/n” he said calmly, nothing like how he had shouted at you only hours ago. “Besides, the things I said - that was not okay. You’re never ungrateful, and I know how much your parents mean to you. I’m sorry, really sorry” he said and looked down to his feet. You could tell he was ashamed of earlier. But you were too, and you were going to forgive him. You stroked his cheek with your cold hand and made him look at you. “I forgive you, John. And I know, I shouldn’t worry so much about my parents. They’re adults and can take care of themselves just fine. I just feel guilt over not giving them the love they deserved when they gave me everything as a child. I guess this is my way of saying ‘thank you’ to them”. John took your hand from his cheek and held it in his. “You don’t need to explain, love. You’re too good for this world, and what you’re doing is more than enough” he told you. John’s words hit you like an arrow in your heart. It was like his words were the only piece missing in the puzzle that was your life.
Squeezing his hands you looked up into his beautiful hazel eyes, and you breathed out. “I want to go with you to Miami” you said. John’s eyes shot open and a smile appeared on his face. “What?” he said, surprised. “I said, I want to go with you to Miami” you laughed, knowing damn well he heard you the first time. John jumped up from the couch, his hands still in yours as he pulled you up with him. He grabbed you by your waist and spun you around. When he put you down, you were laughing so much your stomach hurt. John placed his index finger under your chin to make you look at him, and when you did, he pulled your face closer to his and kissed you right on your lips. It was a kiss of pure happiness and you couldn’t help but smile like a child on christmas. This was love, if anything.
John broke away from the kiss and inspected your face for a moment before speaking. “Well, we better get to packing then. The plane is at nine tomorrow morning”. You let out a giggle before giving him a peck on the lips, typical John.
The next morning you were woken up by a loud knocking on the door. You rubbed your eyes trying to see anything in the bright bedroom. You were looking for the clock on the bedside table and after trying to see what time it was you successfully read 8 a.m. You put the clock back on the bedside table and as you were about to lay back down you were hit with realization. 8 a.m?! The plane to Miami was leaving in an hour! Oh no… this was not good. You turned your head to look at John, who was of course still fast asleep. You shook his shoulders and gently patted his cheeks a couple times. He let out groans and mutters, letting you know he was at least half awake.
“John, wake up! It’s 8 a.m, if you don’t get out of bed in ten seconds we’re going to miss the flight” you informed him while getting up to open to see who was knocking on the door. Looking through the peephole on the door you saw three men with matching outfits and similar haircuts. Knowing exactly who these three men were, you opened the front door, preparing yourself for the worst. Through the door stormed George, Paul and Ringo. They immediately rushed into the bedroom to find John sitting on the edge of the bed, rubbing his tired eyes.
“Why’s it always you John?” Ringo asked irritably.
“Go on, out of bed you go” said George while pulling on John’s arms to help him.
Paul simply stood in the doorway with crossed arms and a smile of disbelief on his face. “What were you two up to last night? This room’s a bloody mess” he laughed. John didn’t. “Shut up” he simply replied.
You were in the hallway packing the last few things for your trip. The only thing everyone waited on now was for John to get dressed so you could leave for the airport. You had called your parents the night before, telling them about your trip. You were nervous but struck by relief when your mom basically begged for you to go. She explained how they could take care of themselves, besides, you were not going to leave them forever. It was only two weeks after all. “I’ll come over and water your plants every few days, alright?” she had said over the phone. A smile had made its way to your face and you answered with an “Alright, mom”. It had been quiet for a while as your mom spoke again “Just don’t miss us too much, okay, honey?” she sounded almost concerned. And as a wave of sadness washed over you, you said “Can’t promise you that, mom”. You said your goodbyes and hung up.
As you came back to reality after reliving the memories of your conversation with your mother from last night, John, Paul, George and Ringo stood in front of you in the hallway with sweet smiles. You smiled and nodded before opening the door. You let the four boys out of the house and before closing the door you took a last peek inside. Why was it so hard to leave home? you sighed for yourself. Maybe it was the separation from what you loved most that gave you this extreme anxiety? You didn’t come up with an answer and your thoughts got interrupted by a car honking at you. You quickly turned around to see Paul’s hand waving at you, signaling for you to get in the car. You mouthed a “I’m coming” and turned to the front door again. Crouching down you lifted up the doormat and stuck a key under it, in case your mom should stop by.
Exhaling deeply you got up and started walking away from the house. You stepped into the car and sat down next to John. He grabbed your hand and squeezed it lightly, giving you comfort. “It’ll be alright, darling. It’s only two weeks, remember?” he whispered so only you would hear him. You didn’t look at him, afraid you would break down again, but you smiled and stroked your thumb over the back of his hand. You were so grateful to have a man like John in your life, and not one of those obnoxious men at the pub. He knew how to treat you the way a woman deserves, and for that you loved him more than words can explain.
The car started rolling and you looked over to John to meet his eyes. He smiled and quietly said “Let’s go to Miami”. A broad smile soon appeared on your face as genuine happiness filled your body. “Yeah, let’s go to Miami” you replied, putting your head on his shoulder and closing your eyes. Yeah... maybe it wouldn’t be so bad?

50 Wordless Ways to Say “I Love You”: 38. Letting them warm their cold hands under your shirt.
Pairing: Five Hargreeves x Reader
Word Count: 1,328 words
Warnings: Mild swearing, implied/referenced child abuse (as per Reggie’s A+ parenting)
Magnets function better at low temperatures. And obviously, you want to function better.
But after sitting on the balcony for who knows how long, wrangling with the pile of spoons and paperclips and refrigerator magnets in front of you, you still can’t get your stupid powers to cooperate for more than ten minutes.
It’s so cold. You want to go inside.
“Come on.” Shaking out the numbness in your hands, you pick up a tablespoon for the fortieth time, pressing the tip of it to your index finger. Anxiety churns in your gut as you start the stopwatch with your other hand.
Beep. The numbers run underneath the dim lamplight.
“Stay, stay, stay, stay …”
You whisper the word like a mantra, concentrating every last bit of energy towards the end of your finger. The first minute or two is fine, but after the stopwatch hits 07:36:27, your hold starts to weaken.
10:54:01. The spoon clatters painfully back onto the table.
“Dammit.” You stop the timer, forcing back the sting behind your eyes. There’s a rattle as the door opens; unable to meet Sir Hargreeves’ eyes, you stare down at your traitorous hands. Your bones ache. “I’m sorry, I’ll get it soon. Just … give me more time –”
“Any more time and you’ll get frostbite.”
That’s not –
You look up. Five stands in the doorway, regarding you with an unreadable expression.
“I’d call it a night if I were you,” he says.
“I,” you stammer, both relieved and more mortified than if it had been his father, “I can’t go inside until I –”
“Get it to stick for more than fifteen minutes, I know.” Though his tone isn’t scathing or mocking, you still flinch at the reminder. He glances at the mess of things lying on the table. “It’s been two hours, so you might as well come back inside.”
You swallow. As per usual, he has a point – you don’t think you’ll be able to improve much more today, either. But you could try one more time before asking – begging – Sir Hargreeves for an extension.
(He probably won’t give it to you, but you’re fortunate enough to have that possibility in and of itself, with your mom being so involved and all. You’re – what was it she called you? – an investment. One with a slow return in terms of powers, apparently.)
“[Y/n].” Five steps out onto the balcony.
A breeze passes through. Shivering violently, you manage a grin to pair with his frown. “I need to stay out here until I get it right. I almost have it, Five. Seriously.”
“No, you don’t.”
“I do.” You sit up straighter and clench your hands in your lap, trying to be more offended because you still have pride, dammit, and falling short of expectations again threatens what little is left of it. Five just scoffs.
“No, you –” The boy cuts himself off when his voice begins to raise, closing his eyes for a second. When he reopens them, they’re the slightest bit softer. “Look,” Five says tightly, “the temperature’s still dropping and it’s dark. Dad’s gone out, anyway.”
“Where’d he go?” you ask quietly.
Five’s gaze remains steady, but his jaw clenches a little. “He took Klaus out to the mausoleum.”
Any warmth still lingering in your body leaves as soon as he mentions his brother. You stare at Five with wide eyes.
Klaus’s weekly trips to the tombs are nothing new to you. But a few weekends ago, he had gotten even more anxious about it than usual and drugged himself into a near coma right before going, rendering his powers – and that trip – practically null. As a result, Sir Hargreeves had started choosing random nights and times to haul him over there.
The most you’ve been able to do is see Klaus off at the front steps. Tonight, you hadn’t even done that.
Guilt fills the pit of your stomach.
“If I had just finished my training –”
“Stop,” Five interrupts. “Don’t blame yourself, alright? Just get inside.”
Blinking away an embarrassing blur of tears, you study his face. Behind the stern features is concern.
“… Please,” he says.
So, with a large exhale, breath escaping in a white cloud of vapor, you nod and slowly stand up. Five steps aside to let you into the house and closes the door behind him.
The difference in temperature is huge. Looking to your right into the living room, you see a fire burning merrily in the fireplace, its glow bright and incredibly warm. A furious shiver wracks your bones at the thought, reminding you where you had just been.
“When do you think he’ll be back?” you ask Five, catching your breath.
“Well, who knows.” He heads toward the couch. Without much of a thought as to why, you follow, sitting down right beside him. “Could be an hour, could be the whole night.”
“I hope it’s not the whole night,” you murmur, wrapping your arms around yourself and sinking back into the thick cushions. As you stare into the fire, you think you see Klaus and his ghosts in the flames. “That’s way too long.”
Trying to focus some feeling back into your limbs, you glance over at Five. He crosses his arms, watching the wood fall apart into chunks of red coal before meeting your eyes. You shiver again.
“You’re not warming up?” he questions.
You smile, shrugging weakly. “I think it’s the magnetism thing. I don’t warm up easy.”
Unfolding your arms, you cup your hands around your mouth and blow into them. It only helps a little. Klaus’s hugs usually help a lot.
You wish you could give him a hug right now.
“Do you need a blanket or something?”
“A blanket?” Idly, you blow again. “Yeah, I guess. But … someone warm is usually better.”
“Klaus,” he says plainly.
“Yeah.”
Someone warm. You lower your hands, a delayed thought finally rolling into the station. And that thought makes you feel shameful again because Klaus is, after all, locked up in the freezing cold with the dead, and you have the privilege of having good company – Five’s company – in the warmth of the Hargreeves mansion. The idea doesn’t seem right. You don’t deserve to get comfortable right now.
But … you wouldn’t want Klaus to stay cold if he could help it, would you?
“Five –” still fighting the persistent guilt, solemn but hopeful, you shift to face him better on the couch, “um, would you mind …?”
He just looks at you suspiciously. You fold your still-cold hands, and for the first time, you feel slightly awkward in his presence.
Why?
The silence is deafening. But then Five twists his mouth as if tasting something odd but not entirely unpleasant, and without even a word, he parts his uniform jacket to let you sneak your hands underneath. You take the opportunity instantly.
And oh –
Your hunch is very, very correct. Five is warm. Sliding your arms around his middle, you press your hands against his back, closing your eyes as heat soaks into your skin like a salve. The relief is immediate and cozy and wonderful.
Unable to help it, you release a contented sigh into his sweater vest. Five exhales softly, shallowly; his hands hover over you before tentatively lowering to rest on your back. You can almost feel his heartbeat.
This hug feels different than the other ones, somehow. You haven’t the slightest idea why.
(But you like it a lot.)
“You good?”
“Just – just a little longer, Five.”
“… Okay.”
(It makes you feel selfish.)
Minutes pass, and bit by bit, Five settles back into the couch. Eventually, voice nearly lost in the hiss of the fire, he murmurs, “He’ll be fine.”
“I hope so,” you mumble. The last thing that stands out clearly in your mind is the wish that Five will be right.
When you open your eyes again, tucked into your own bed, it’s morning.

the call has ended
Minutes pass by, and the sound of the doorbell stops you from surfing through movies on Netflix. Rising to your feet, you throw the remote control behind you on the couch and head for the door. You grab the knob and pushed it down to pull the door open. Then, a smile replaces your excited expression, revealing your boyfriend standing with crescent eyes.
"Hi," Niki's smile widens at the sight of you, and you open your arms immediately to engulf him in a warm hug.
"Hey," Taking in the scent of his mild cologne, you smile onto his shoulder.
He then pulls his head away from yours to cup it in his palms within the proximity you had, your arms still wrapped around his cozy body.
"I missed you." He said, squishing your cheeks.
"I missed you more. Come in." You pull away from him with a giddy laugh before dragging him into your house and onto the couch, closing the door behind you. But as you were about to take a seat next to him, you notice him clutching a black plastic bag in his hand. Your gaze diverts from the bag, then to him, and you arch an eyebrow in question.
"I got us a lot of snacks," He raised it to pile out every single one of the various go-to snacks you get from the convenience store whenever you went for a visit. "They're your favorites."
Not one second passed by, and you feel your lips come trembling in the effort to hold back the tears in your eyes, remembering how you told him that you're in dire need of a convenience store trip since your siblings snatched all of yours last week.
"You didn't have to." Your eyes start filling up by the brim, reaching the back of your index to wipe the tears off of your now wet cheeks.
The male slumps further into the sofa, amused at how shallow your standards are for crying. "C'mere,"
He momentarily stands up to grab the blanket that you burrito-ed yourself in earlier before he came, and he opens his arms comfortably for you to cuddle under the blanket.
"Why are crying, hm? It's nothing to cry about, crybaby." Niki whispers into your hair once you've climbed up the sofa to snuggle beside him. He wraps the two of you with the blanket, lightly tapping his hand onto your tear-stained cheeks as your head sinks deeper into the crook of his neck.
"I don't know either." You both snicker.
With the remote control stuck in the boy's grip, you unsuccessfully attempt to get your hands on the black gear when he abruptly presses through the several rows of horror movies. Niki knows very well how much you despise this kind of stuff, especially at night. You always argued with him that even though he was there to stay with you throughout the movie, it wasn't like he would be there for you the rest of the night.
He hoists the remote control higher in the air as he stands up, his other arm stretching to block you from reaching it. A grunt leaves your lips when you try to jump up from the sofa towards his hand, flying across the air to tackle him down onto the floor.
With a smirk on your face, your hands immediately lunge for the sides of his torso and the base of his neck, playfully brushing your fingers against his skin to tickle him amidst all his giggly squirms.
"Give- me- the remote-" You tickle him mercilessly, and he tries to turn you around to compete you to the floor.
"Nope." One push was all it took to have your back against the ground and your boyfriend kneeling beside your body. It's become your turn to get tickled, and you weren't prepared for it.
In between jagged giggles and desperate attempts to break free from the beast, you fail miserably to shut off his strategies. Your tensed-up muscles start to feel exhausted and it didn't take you long enough to give in to his disposition.
"Okay, okay. Stop," You breathlessly plead, and he detaches his hands from you, alleviated, getting back on his feet before reaching a hand out to help you get up. "You just never let me win these games, do you?" You sigh.
You take his hand and hurl yourself up with his help. Wrapping your arms around his shoulders, you walk back to the couch, dragging your shaky feet across the floor, only to collapse back into the cushions.
"It's okay. I'll let you win next time." He tugs you back into his arms under the blanket.
Through the decks of choices of horror movies you have searched through, you somehow convinced him to choose one that's a little more benign for the night. It didn't help him that seeing you, after such a long day at the dance studio, emphasized how beautiful and comforting you are to him. With that thought running perfectly in his mind, he gulps down and tears his stare away from you.
With his thumbs dancing across the right buttons of the gear, the pair of you finally find the one that you had set in stone, though you still had little doubts about your choices.
The movie began and it was already causing tiny bumps to appear on your arms. The main character was roaming alone in the dark of the corridors, finding a strange, eerie letter lying at the end of the hall.
The lights turned off everywhere in your house only added to the anxiety building up in your body, so you try scooting closer to Niki, which seemed to be impossible now that you see how you're already shouldering his chest.
Your actions caught the male in a string of silent laughter. You could tell he was trying to hide it from you, though, and you shoot daggers in his direction when you felt the vibrations on your shoulder.
Halfway into the movie, you got immersed in the thrill. Munching on the bag of your favorite snacks, it actually wasn't as scary as you had thought initially, the jump scares much milder than you had expected. Yet the unsettling feeling of never knowing what could happen still lingers in you, and quite oddly, the situation scares you more rather than the ghosts themselves. A little strange for someone as weak-hearted as you, but it seems to fit right perfectly to your tast-
You were torn away from your train of thoughts by a heavy feeling on your shoulder. With a startled jolt, you see your boyfriend leaning on your shoulder with his eyes shut asleep. You bring your hand to your chest, relieved at the sight of him instead of the creepy monster from the movie out to get you.
His head lies against you, the proximity so close that you could count every strand of eyelashes that he had. You took the opportunity to stare deep into his elegance. He was almost like an angel offered to you shining from the heavens with those good looks, and you all but feel the butterflies erupt from your stomach - just like when he confessed to you at that practice room a year ago.
"If only you didn't look so gorgeous like that, I would have punched you in the face for passing out on me right now." You quietly mumbled at his resting state, a sigh leaving your lips as you go back to munching chips and watching the movie with a shaking head.
When you return into a trance of spewing curses, a light smile forms at the corner of his lips, feeling indebted for having a girlfriend as cool as you.
