There had been a kiss. One after which Cass had spent the entire evening observing Vessel. Studying him, his every move, every time the tone of his voice changed, since she couldn't see his expressions at all. Cautious, tentative, ignoring the butterflies that seemed to have made a home out of the pit of her stomach, looking at him like one would at something they were considering buying, but had to spend a considerable amount of money in.

It hadn't been weird. Quite the opposite; it had been a visceral reaction on his part, something he had clearly not planned and that had just... it had been like the movement of a hungry, venomous serpent, coiled up and waiting for any prey to come by.

She should have expected it. She had been asking for it. It had, also, been the only thing on her mind ever since he had changed his full-length mask for that one revealing the lower half of his face. His lips. More of that skin painted in black, that sometimes, if the day was warm or if he had returned from a particularly physically extenuating game, she could really see...

Oh, she was not a religious woman, but if she had been, to kiss Vessel would have been in her prayers time and time again. Or maybe, not. Because Gods were capricious beings and if one of Them would hear about her deepest wishes, maybe she wouldn't have the chance to make them come true.

And yet, when it had happened, she had been unable to react. She had not responded at all, continuing with what she was doing; dancing. While her body twirled, twisted and turned, her mind did the exact same thing, unable to form words or perform any act other than just. Dancing. Like the artistic allegory danse macabre, that simple act had served as a reminder about how frail their lives truly were, especially here, and the vanity of the glories of life on Earth. What were really important were things such as... a kiss.

Which was the reason why Cass was standing out of Vessel's room, hand clenched in the shape of a fist, arm raised in almost defiance.

She wanted to kiss him again, until their mouths were sore of moving together, until their fingers hurt from grasping the other person so tightly, of digging like claws. But she was also scared to death. Falling in love in a place in which you could die every night? What kind of life was that? What kind of love?

When she had asked Hérc about it, however, his answer had been extremely simple: How is that different from the normal world? You could get hit by a car, have an accident... And he was right. Of course he was. Only children and drunk people told the truth, or so the saying went.

So she knocked on the door, not willing to grieve what could have been. Counted the seconds until it opened. If Vessel was surprised to see her, he didn't reveal it. How could he, when his face was constantly hidden? Did he not realize that it didn't matter if he didn't reveal how he looked like, if he didn't like people to see him, that feelings spilled out of him before he could stop them... as it happened with her?

There were no words. No questions asked. Just pale arms thrown around the masked man's neck and the sound of lips clashing, the taste of paint.

The shop secretary told him your chair was open

When he stumbled over to you the first thing he did was laugh and say “You’re prettyyyyy”

Once he told you what he wanted and you realized how drunk he was you talked him out of it

You and him talked for hours before they started to lock up the shop and you two go out to the parking lot

“Hey so i’m gonna be in town for a few nights. Can I get your number?” He’s sobered up enough to ask you and of course, you oblige

When you two part ways and your whole drive home you think about Sid

As soon as you text him the next day he responds and asks you out to come see him play

You reschedule all your appointments to see his band

If you weren’t a fan of Slipknot before you sure are now, because guess what? Your boyfriend is their dj!

Plus, he gave you an all access bracelet which was sweet

After the show you come backstage to congratulate him on the amazing show

Forgetting yourself when you see him, you run up and hug him

Once you realize what you’ve done you pull away. “Sorry, I forget personal space sometimes.” You pull away and stare down at the ground, but he pulls you back in and says, “It’s ok, plus I was kinda hoping we could do something like this” he kisses you and it’s heaven. Well, until you hear someone yell from behind you, “Get a fucking room!” and other jabs at you two from his other band mates. He pulls you away to the parking lot outside, to make out some more.

So how was stormblood? I know it's very hit or miss for people, so what're your thoughts?

I understand why it’s hit or miss! It — to get to the point i would be straight up lying if I said I was an unbiased consumer because I’m not, I’m a coastal American mid 20s rando with a Lot of very current cultural baggage around concepts like patriotism and freedom. And Hamilton references. It all has a sweet and strong and very anti-occupation message (along with themes I very much enjoy dissecting like the constant assertion that it Doesn’t Have To Be This Way, or the expansion into You may not understand this person but you must be able to accept them,) but when combined with Stormblood’s shakier coherence in writing and dialogue and pacing, it comes off as A Bit Off. to me. And I think it missed ever so slightly just due to how it was all structured and set up with the characters we have and motivations we have because the stuff OUTSIDE or Adjacent to the main story, despite how out of place it could feel, was structured great!! Like the Kojin and the Ananta trial and the Kugane mishaps and trying to murder Zenos twice and the ghost ship. Could the main structure have come across very well yes absolutely! It does it on and off it succeeds in there often! But sometimes it doesn’t. I can see a lot of where concepts were promised and not fully delivered, pacing was a bit off, things just happened without really belonging there (despite how much I loved Susano, he could have been better structured. same with many instances and also I feel like the unethical science should have been MORE IMPORTANT THAN IT — maybe it comes back. Who is that scientist.), sometimes dialogue felt somewhat canned. I feel like in a consequences-heavy expansion, many things just didn’t have important consequences, which was very strange

HOWEVER! I cannot give the new gameplay features abd dungeons any crap they are all SO GOOD. And so PRETTYYYYY. And there were so many solo duties that ruled! Every dungeon in this expansion was like whoa this is a PLACE im in you know what I mean??? I’m in a place that’s big and there’s people and there’s NEW MECHANICS and active time maneuvers (??!!!!!!!) and unique fights! I can jump on the roofs in Kugane! And, mind you, when the dialogue was good, it was good. Lyse has a fantastic voice actor. Alisaie is my favorite girl elf creature in thw world. Estinien is like the best p- the guy ever. also m’naago is my new friend. The tower was a great part of sb to me despite my singular gripe. I think Zenos’— I know it’s controversial to some people because he does assume your wol to be a bit more murderous than some people would prefer their characters be and doesn’t take no for an answer, but his um speech did something to my brain a little bit

ON that note the ending was very fast?????? Or like — not FAST, but I wasn’t expecting Zenos or Shinryu to go down in one fight. Two co-op fights, right next to each other. I kind of wanted to beat him up myself. And when Zenos was so impossible to beat before. I was expecting both of them to be WAY harder. Though Shinryu is a COOL fight I’d do the royal menagerie again in a second. I was kind of expecting a three stage trial? Like Nidhogg? I love going into space hiiii big dragon where were you this whole time… u were shafted… but u could not be suffered to live so. Maybe if we’d gotten an instance of fighting the dragon alone after beating the trial?? Could have been Themes. I don’t know

anyways no I can’t quite pin it down, but I’ve said it before I think they had the outline for the story and then built it and went oh this is too much and not enough at the same time and got stuck writing the whole thing after getting stuck in the story they already had. A COMMENDABLE job for getting turned around like that, way better than a lot of video games stories out there, good gameplay and areas that didn’t feel too empty. glances at coerthas falcons nest area. I think the ways they did the exploration thing was good, having us venture further into occupied territory etc, but so much exploration stuff felt oneoff and not there to do much for someone who has been skipping almost all of the side content except stuff I’ve been told is good. It almost felt like they were Trying New Stuff a lot, and some of it succeeded some of it failed. Such is trying stuff!! Such is trying to imitate what you had while making something new and exciting! And I can’t fault them for that

so like — putting aside the fact that I haven’t done post-sb which is like missing 40% of the Thing according to past expansions and my thoughts very well might change, i would 100% do the fights again, maybe watch some cutscenes, but I don’t think I’d NG+ this one. where is that lady selling buuz it is a CRIME i did not get to have any buuz let me buy one yoshi p

I want to start this by saying that you are not the only one to ask me this question! To be honest, I've been wanting to dip back into Classpects on and off for quite a bit now. However, there's been a lot of things that have been making it rather tough TvT I'm working on a whole book series - that's one of the biggest ones!

Given that it isn't Homestuck nor Classpect related (unless you somehow wish to count DnD Classes and their subclasses! XP), I haven't spoken about it much here. It's a major passion project almost three years in the making, and while I have loved it, it's also taken up a lot of time and creative spoons! Which, unfortunately, has been a touch come and go for me as of late.

I also am a full time college student now! :D I have a job now, too (alas, even the God Tiered Mage of Light Red Panda needs to make money...), even if it is just a part time gig. Basically, I am born to write these silly analyses and my furry DnD fantasy story, but am having to do these things that leave me prettyyyyy drained by the end of each week X[

I've loved seeing that people do still love this blog and project, even if I haven't been all that active. It serves as a pleasant reminder that people do still love my work, and want to see more, which is so wonderful as a creative person.

It may take a little bit, but I would love to one day complete this project! Which is to say, someday, I will scrutinize the Witch of Light Classpect - and many more before and after that! Unfortunately, seeing through Time is not my speciality, so I cannot give a certain timeline on when this will happen, but I can and will certainly do my best to spare some spoons for this blog.

I am almost certain this is FAR longer than the answer you wanted, Anon, but I wanted to be as honest as possible! I wish I could say this was an April Fool's joke, but alas, I much prefer to use our boop PVP for the day

8 things i like to do to take care of my mental health are:

1. Reading, whether it’s a novel to distract me or something nonfiction about what I’m going through/been through

2. Cooking. I don’t do it nearly often enough and I’m trying to change that, but cooking or preparing food for myself feels the most like caring for myself :)

3. Writing, sometimes I write my lil fanfiction or I write about what’s bugging me

4. Probably the biggest one is therapy! I’m pretty proud for sticking with it this long because it hasn’t been easy but it’s starting to be worth it

5. Talking to my friends, even if it isn’t about what’s bugging me

6. Coloring, I have a ton of those adult coloring books and fancy colored pencils and I just zone out

7. I’ve started drinking more water and I think it helps??

8. When I’m really struggling to do something good for myself, I try to do one small part of whatever I need to do, or one small good thing for myself. I try to be over the top happy for myself about it too because it helps for some reason lol. I am but a tiny baby in a grown adult’s body lol

Hiii :D So as a preamble, I don’t hate them, really, and they both still made me cry when I watched it so it’s not that they’re bad, it’s just that I was disappointed by some things? And that I think there were things they could’ve handled better, but then again, that’s just my opinion and I’ve watched a lot of video essays about them and also know that a lot of people really love them, so ... yeah :’) Also I haven’t seen httyd2 since it came out in cinemas so :’D It’s been a while, and my thoughts aren’t very well-sorted on the subject, this is probably going to be kinda vague and rambly, I’m sorry

I think they work very well as a trilogy, I guess I’m just mostly annoyed by the way they wrote the sidekick characters in the second and third one, and also the light fury, specifically how everything always in any movie needs a love interest, even if it’s a dragon, so that’s less something against the film and more against hollywood in general, I guess. Even if in this case it was more to save the species and as a plot device to separate Hiccup from toothless... but when the trailers came out, I was still Very Annoyed xD.

So my first complaint is that whole one-sided flirting between Snotlout and Hiccup’s mom stuff in the second movie... idk, I hate it soo much XD I know it’s all done for gags but I guess it’s just not my kind of humor? At all? The secondhand embarrassment type of humor is very much not something I find funny, ever, so maybe that plays into it x’D I’m probably wrong on this but at least when I watched it, I didn’t think it was very in character for snotlout, either. Hm, idk

And in general, maybe I’m wrong but I thiiink Snotloud, Fishlegs, Tuffnut and Ruffnut had (at least some) more character depth In the first film? Like, they were dumb and funny there, too, but not that criminally-just-for-the-gags dumb (that annoyed me big time in the third one, where Tuffnut is just so dumb that she leads the bad guys back home. even if the part before that was funny, ahhh idk). But maybe I’m imagining that, too, it’s been a while since I rewatched the first one x’D

... and to be honest what Most annoys me about httyd 3 is the light fury design, on principle XD In theory I love shiny and glittery things! I have a lot of shiny and glittery things, I love them, they’re fantastic!! I just don’t like her design at all. Why did it have to be so smooth and rounded and aggressively female and also glittery in every way?? Why doesn’t she get cool scale patterns and these horn thingies that toothless has on his head?? It Annoys Me.

I attended an animation/VFX conference shortly after that film had come out where some of the people behind from dreamworks talked about her design and the animation and such and hhhh 

.. the things they said were really cool, like how they wanted her to look wild and untamed etc, and be more wild-cat where toothless is a cat/dog mix (that’s another thing, I feel like toothless was pretty much mostly cat in the first one and after that got dumber and dumber in every subsequent one and ... I don’t like that). Problem with the things they said was, I don’t think her final design looks wild or untamed at all XD It just looks shiny and rounded. And all the designs they had before the final one were so much cooler!! (But then again, that’s just a personal preference thing? hmm)

And as I said, the film still made me cry and it still works. They’re not bad films, really. They just make a lot of creative choices that I didn’t like very much :’)

I have to say, though, that I love the visuals of the third one, it’s sooo prettyyyyy, and that underground world??? AHHHHHHHHH I’m actively thinking of buying it just for that aspect XD (I didn’t get to see it in cinemas because when it came out I was writing my bachelor’s thesis and had too much to do and forgot, so I ended up watching it on an 11-hour flight, which .. well, airplane film screens are very small and very low quality XD)

this got very long and very rambly and I’m sorry, I’m not even sure if it makes sense, I guess it’s a personal preference thing and I understand all the arguments why the three films are great, I’m just also a bit salty about some aspects and love the first one while some stuff about the others makes me Angy XD

hi, original book-opinion asking anon here!! i definitely get it muddled too, but i think he felt lonely during tdatt, bc harry and the russos were there for cherry? also—i’m LOVING this book chat rn, bc no one in my life has read the books and i am ITCHING to talk about them. i definitely agree with you about tdatt. cherry was also p outside of my usual reading list, but i liked it! it’s an admittedly weird style, and those sex scenes ... are something else... but i (1/2)

+ (2/3...) appreciated how it’s quite blunt. like nothing is sugarcoated, and it’s all from the protag’s VERY skewed perspective. i love when the protagonist is kind of a shit person, tbh... but bc you’re forced to align with their perspective.. you almost want things to work out for them anyway? that might just be me, but that was how i felt by the end! also the story of nico walker writing it in prison is so interesting to me—there’s a little section at the end explaining that process :)

ooooooh I too am living for the book talk, I love this. my main issue with the sex scenes in Cherry is the fact that I’ve been completely spoilt now by smutfic and so now most erotica I find in books is just....not usually up to par with the stuff you can find on here 😂 

I agree about Cherry tho - it is nice to have a version of war that is not romanticised (I'm not onto that part yet but from what I’ve seen it’s been pretty accurate so far???). agree about the protagonist too... I read Catcher in the Rye for English class a few years ago and being forced to view the story through a very specific lens is quite interesting (even if the protag is....not your cup of tea). I’m intrigued by the fact that it is - to an extent - based on Nico’s life? I think ?????? so I will definitely be doing some research into that once I’m finished with the story.

you  could  say  mid  highschool  was  really  formative  years  for  the  boy  …  along  with  falling  in  love  with  making  music  he  literally  fell  in  love  FOR  REAL  with  someone  for  the  first  time  !!  soft,  yes.  If  you’re  lucky  he’ll  talk  about  dylan  quite  fondly  buuuuuuuuut  that’s  another  touchy  subject  cause  had  to  keep  it  secret  til  it  all  essentially  fell  apart.  His  mom  had  met  a  handful  of  noel’s  girlfriends  prior  to  dylan  …  and  he  hadn’t  gained  the  bravery  to  tell  her  about  him.  It’s  sad  i’m  sad.
