I'm just yapping but I am Thinking how it's a sheer coincidence that both Defunctland and Jenny Nicholson dropped videos about theme parks that has elements of 'career roleplay' and i wondered why did one work, but the other (Star Wars Hotel) didn't?

Then it hit me that the Star Wars Hotel is just. A "Kid City". but in space. but yknow.....shitty. It's basically everything that could go wrong in Kid Cities but with a 3000$ price tag....

It's like they tried to combine Kidzania (I'm Southeast Asian, I will use it as my point of reference instead of Wannado) with SFF LARPing as a hotel. But like they have zero idea how to manage the scheduling and logistics of the former. Something to think about.

It actually made me think "What if Michael Eisner discovered the existence of Wannado/Kidzania during his Hong Kong Disney era" and I do not want to imagine what it'll look like.

Hey I'm watching the new defunctland on kid cities and he mentions that in wannado city there was a pretend vet with realistic animatronic pets that kids could roleplay with

I was wondering if you possibly have more info, pictures or videos of these animatronics? I know it's a long shot but still I'm curious

I actually went to Wannado several times as a kid, but I don't remember the vet; it might have been added after I stopped going, though.

It was sponsored by Frontline and Heartgard, possibly others as well, and the animatronics were likely professional training dummies. The hospital and dentist sections had actual medical dummies, so I'd assume the same for the vet.

Me, watching the new Defunctland video: it is insane that there was a lawsuit about who owned the intellectual rights to kid city attractions, because at least two or three years before Ciudad De Los Niños existed, we had KidsTown in Plano, Texas, an idea so similar, that when I recently saw that KidZania (which I believe is the same company as Ciudad De Los Niños) existed in Frisco, Texas (literally one city over from Plano), I was kind of confused because their website acts as if they originated the idea.

Me, getting to part three of the video: oh, so they’re just straight-up wrong about owning the idea. Got it.

So, apparently there was a theme park in florida at one point called Wannado City, essentially it was a kids sized city where kids could do “jobs” (aka fun semi-educational experiences) and earn play money, which they could spend to go on rides, get snacks, all sorts of stuff, you could even save your money and spend it on your next visit, but, the thing is, they had over 100 jobs, including, jury member, anesthesiologist, pathologist, clown, and what I’m most interested in, fucking BAIL BONDSMAN, if you don’t know, a Bail Bondsman, is a the legal term for a BOUNTY HUNTER, banks will hire Bail Bondsman to go and track down people who skip on loans and bring them into the police, AND YOU COULD BE ONE IN A FAKE CITY DESIGNED FOR FOUR TO TWELVE YEAR OLDS! I don’t have another costumer coming up for today, so…” Steve trails off and shrugs, makes it looks so casual and nonchalant that Eddie can’t really believe he’s real. “I’ve got time, is what I’m saying.��

“Uh,” Eddie says intelligently. “I’m thinking weird. I’m ready to enter my Weird Era.”

Steve squints at him. “Is that a Taylor reference? From the one and only Eddie Edward Edwin Munson?”

“Hey, that’s a hate crime actually.”

“What, fake-full naming you?”

“Nah, man, saying I make Taylor references. I’m not a pastel preppy sunshine boy who probably listens to her way too much so much so that he could spend an entire day speaking in lyrics or something.”

Steve shakes his head, hiding one of those smiles that makes his eyes crinkle. Eddie wants more of that. It’s a good look on him.

“Right, tattoos,” the pastel preppy sunshine boy says before Eddie’s thoughts can travel too far and wax poetic about that smile and sunshine and something something Stevie. “You want it weird?”

“Let’s make it weird, pretty boy!”

Steve just cackles before turning around to grab a black binder.

For the flustered game, imagine toshi coming up to you during a bad pain day and you help him with your quirk to alleviate it somewhat. He's super tired and you two lean against each other on the teachers lounge couch to take a break, and you take the time to rub his hands and any areas that are aching really bad for him ! It's not a permanent solution but he adores the little reprieve it gives !
