… Now, this one’s a bit random but, you gotta trust me! xD I had a plot, and I wanted to write it out, so here we go. I had fun writing it eitherway-! >w< A sparked malfunction with Gordon’s cybersleeve causes him and Thunderbird Four to swap minds. Neither can decide if it’s an experience, or a curse. *From Four’s point-of-view!*

Sentience is one thing I can get used to several times over. I’ve had it so long it now feels like it’s been forever. This… This could take a little bit longer…

I wasn’t expecting to pull myself out of recharge today and online my optics to the inside of the villa... I inhaled sharply, and almost choked when I realised what I’d done. Wait no… Is that what it was? Yes… I took an easier breath, finding the rhythm and looked around myself, glancing at the room with curiosity. There was no mistaking I was in my pilot’s room… and that meant-… I kicked off the covers and ran to the closest room where I could see myself, almost tripping over my feet in the process. Ohhh, I was not used to that… It, was the same as I was used to, right? Just… with a shift in… everything… I made it to where I wanted to go without casualty, and only half-expected what I saw.

Gordon was staring back at me, amber eyes wide in concern. I extended a hand to rest it against the reflection, watching as he moved with me, and made a soft noise of disdain. Just… what had happened…?

“Thunderbird Four!”

I spun around to face the first holographic I could find. It was so weird to be looking at yourself when you weren’t in your body…

“Could you, come down to the hangar? Like, now!?”

“I’ll try not to trip on my way down,” I teased, realising he’d probably had just as much struggle as I’d had. Was that his positivity I was projecting on? Maybe… Down in the hangar before he’d had a chance to urge me on again (and had tripped. Luckily I avoided unwanted attention). Gordon was sat beside my tank, arms clutched around his knees. Reading my… his sea-green optics was enough to figure out he was scared. What did he usually do when he was calming me down…?

“Now you know how I feel,” I humoured softly as I approached, treading lightly as best I could. “…Have any of your brothers come down yet?”

“No,” he responded rather quickly. “But I… wouldn’t have minded if they did! …Probably. I called you first cause… you know… but, yeah! I-… ngh Four, what do we do!?”

“Stay calm for one… just like you always tell me,” I commanded gently, stopping at his side to look up at him. Now that felt weird… “First things first, let’s figure out how this might have happened, okay? I’m you; a small, human, Tracy boy, and you’re, me-…”

“A giant, confused, concerned, transforming Thunderbird… I don’t-… Why us, Thunderbird Four?!”

“I don’t know either, but we’ve gotta sort this out okay?!”

I didn’t mean to raise my voice. We both fell quiet when we noticed. My pilot looked down at me, and I back at him. This was something neither of us had the answers to, and it was scary! I glanced down at my arm, gaze trailing over the cybersleeve the aquanaut had grown so conscious of. It had to be something to do with that… right? What other contraption would cause a human to swap minds with a machine?

“Just like figuring out my sentience… we’ll figure this out too,” I started after taking a breath, stepping up to place both hands on Gordon’s plating. His gaze shifted when he felt my touch. “Whether this is a weird dream, or… or some unexplained curse, we will get to the bottom of it. Just, gotta figure out the happenings, right?”

“… Right. Thanks, Four.”

I noticed something really REALLY cool about Legends arceus while looking up references, and it's so little, I don't know how many other folks have noticed it!!

The pokedex you get at the beginning of your journey;

Perfect, crisp and brand new! So many pages to fill! Untouched by anyone ever, the first to ever exist! The original pokedex.

But at the end, with a completed pokedex;

The title of the book is all ripped and damaged! It's been through so many surveys and treks out in hisui's wilderness! The edges of the blue cover are faded and dulling, maybe got wet a few times with run ins with outbreaks, being jostled around in a pack exploring around the region. The black binder holding it together after all this time is equally as banged up, probably barely keeping the stuffed pages inside safe and tucked away, but still doing its job.

This is the first ever pokedex, this is the one that began the understanding of pokemon as we know it, bringing humans and pokemon together as friends in the distant future. Before technology advanced and made the pokedex we were first introduced to in Kanto so many years ago.

It's falling apart and has been waterlogged a few times, it's recorded so much and survived raging lords, hordes or pokemon, alphas, an exile, gods of time and space, a banished deity, and faced almighty sinnoh.

And it was written, filled out, carried and protected all this time, by a kid who did their best to help the professor who first met them in Hisui.

And it survived.

Sometimes the best action you can take is run--and sometimes even that's not enough... Luckily for Frisk and Alphys, they have backup.

Oh man, action scenes can be both so fun and tricky--trying to figure out a good look for the blur effect in the last panel took a lot of trial and error before I found something that (hopefully!) works. It was nice drawing a lot of Alphys though, being helpful in her own way ^^

-a man cosplaying God (the same God you got a phone from) attacks you with a demon banished to another dimension.

-a suicide cult led by an evil snowflake kills like one hundred other protagonists.

-there is an entire elemental typing consisting of abused and evil Pokémon that is super effective against everything else.

-the player falls into an alternate world and one of their friends is immediately arrested for playing sports.

-in the thrilling sequel, a bunch of ghosts kidnap children in their amusement park in the Shadow Realm.

-now that I think about it there are like three different games where the player character starts by falling from the sky.

-the protagonist of the TV adaptation has died like seven times, been crucified in Paris, watched several apocalypses, and has watched SO many people die in front of him, and I don’t think he’s brought it up like, ever.

-in one game, you can go on a crusade to brutally conquer the entire continent.

-the player of one game is part of a time loop caused by a magic turtle that indirectly kills one of their friend’s mother. Or father. Depends on the version.

-the player’s adoptive father is possessed by the personification of hate and sends them directly to Hell, then tries to do it again when they get out.

-the mafia’s plan for getting their boss back after he left is to violently hijack a radio station and ask really nicely.

-a space agency’s plan for stopping a meteor form colliding with the earth is to open a wormhole to another dimension. this plan is stopped by a woman in a torn cape who destroys their equipment and robs them.

-the protagonist’s father had a godlike clone fuse his consciousness with a mouse, and fights a man who fused his own consciousness with an alien.

-the one a cult leader chose to be king of his new religion is an abused autistic boy with green hair and wearing a baseball cap.

-you literally rob people’s Pokémon in one game and you’re still the good guy. …is there a gender neutral version of “good guy?”

And now for a BONUS ROUND!

-one protagonist spent two years trapped in a Dream Realm™.

-you think that’s bad? TWO protagonists are trapped in the depths of space for like six months!

-you think THAT’S bad?! FIVE protagonists are turned into stone for an indefinite time period!

-a little orphan girl is hypnotized and trapped in a suit of armor.

-they crucify the gym leaders???

-one boy is whipped in the face with a chain used to subjugate the Gods Of Time And Space and he’s literally fine.

-a father punches his son in the face and hurls him down a staircase. The American translation censors this as a lightning strike.

-this same son fell into the ocean because of an earthquake like five chapters after he was introduced.

-one of the current protagonists is basically Wednesday Addams.

-two protagonists were kidnapped by birds and raised by a supervillain.

-two villains try to destroy the environment of an entire country, cause an apocalypse, and are stopped by being trapped in a flying car which crashes.

-a mysterious supervillain saves them— SOMEHOW— and makes them fight to the death for a suit of armor. The one that survives causes the apocalypse AGAIN but dies.

-they both get brought back from Hell to save the world, and after that’s over, they turn to dust and go back to Hell.

-the supervillain who saved them the first time also summons like ten gods and dips out, never to be seen again.

In other words Pokémon is weird (affectionate).
