Attack on UNO for stealing, Asadul interrogated by RAB

Nabirul, a painter, planned to rob the house of UNO Wahida Khanam at Ghoraghat in Dinajpur. Later, he finalized the plan with Juba League activist Asadul Islam and another colorist Santu Kumar Biswas. Speaking at a press conference in Rangpur on Friday evening, the RAB-13 captain further said that Nabirul had entered the UNO official residence alone as per the plan. But UNO Wahida Khanam and her father Omar Ali sensed her presence. Nabirul hit the two of them one by one with the hammer he had with him. The assailant then left the house. Asadul is admitting this during the interrogation of RAB. The RAB-13 official further said that it is being investigated whether there is any other reason for the attack besides theft. Meanwhile, Ghoraghat Upazila Juba League convener Jahangir, Chingri Union Juba League president Masud, and UNO security guard Palash were questioned and released by law enforcement. However, Juba League expelled Jahangir and Masood immediately after their arrest. Earlier on Wednesday night, miscreants beat up UNO Wahida Khanam and her father Omar Ali with a hammer, breaking the ventilator and entering the house while guarding the security guard of the government residence. UNO was airlifted to Dhaka's Neurosciences Hospital by helicopter on Thursday (September 3rd). UNO Wahida Khanam is not safe even after regaining consciousness. Read the full article

Asadul claimed responsibility for the attack on UNO

UNO Asadul, one of the three leaders and activists of the local Juba League arrested in the attack on Wahida Khanam, has admitted responsibility for the incident. However, Asadul claimed that he had entered the house of UNO Wahida Khanum with the intention of stealing. Meanwhile, RAB-13 said in a briefing that further investigation is needed to find out the real reason behind the attack on UNO Wahida Khanam. Earlier, Jahangir Hossain, convener of the local Upazila Juba League, and his follower Asadul Islam were arrested and taken to the RAB office in Rangpur on suspicion of attacking UNO Wahida Khanam and her father at Ghoraghat in Dinajpur. Law enforcement said they were arrested after reviewing CCTV footage of the UNO residence. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, "None of those involved in the attack on UNO Wahid will be spared. The Ansar Battalion will work for the safety of the Upazila officials if it takes some time. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, "Whoever is guilty, the Prime Minister has made it clear that he should be brought under the law and exemplary punishment should be provided." The attack was planned to assassinate UNO

The miscreants attacked UNO Waheeda after breaking the ventilator of the bedroom by blocking the guard after entering the government house. The miscreants broke the ventilator of the government house and broke into the guardhouse and entered the house. Local lawmakers say the attack was planned to assassinate UNO. The state minister for public administration said the investigation is going on with utmost importance. Law enforcement is working to identify the culprits by looking at the CCTV footage. The miscreants locked the security guard at the official residence of UNO Wahida Khanam at Ghoraghat in Dinajpur around 3 pm on Wednesday. Then they broke the ventilator and entered the UNO bedroom and attacked. While undergoing treatment, UNO's father Omar Ali said, "I went to the next room when I heard my daughter screaming." Then an assailant covering his face with a cloth hit me too. At one point in the scuffle with him, he hit me in the neck. Shibli Sadiq, a local MP, said the UNO had been attacked with the intention of killing. "It simply came to our notice then that it was not a robbery or a burglary, but an assassination attempt," he said. State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the terrorist attack on Wahida Khanum was being investigated with utmost importance.
