i'm really enjoying all the yuri i'm reading so far but i've gotta ask... wheeeeeereeeee is all the masc and butch rep?? don't get me wrong, i have nothing against fem4fem but its all i see in modern yuri. the most masc girl i've seen in a modern yuri is mitsuki koga. for a lot of the others the most "masc" character has short hair but that's it. nothing else about them is masc.

like why was there more butch rep in OLD ANIME than there is in modern yuri?

like, sailor moon isn't even a yuri and it has a canon nonbinary butch lesbian and THREE canon nonbinary characters, one of whom is also a lesbian who's in love with the main character. and speaking of which, why do i see more masc rep in non yuri anime than yuri? akira kenjou from precure, hibiki shikyoin from pripara, and amane sumeragi from primagi are recent examples of canonically masc characters. none of these anime are yuri.

why is it that i can find more masc rep in magical girl and idol anime aimed at children than in yuri aimed at an older audience?

like maybe i'm just not looking hard enough, i'd love recommendations of masc and butch rep in modern yuri.

Sentai Filmworks has launched their Black Friday sale for this year, and Waccha Primagi has been discounted to its lowest price ever, just 15$ It's a really good deal if you've been waiting for it to drop.

Also, both seasons of Tokyo Mew Mew New have gotten significant discounts as well, S1 is 20$ and S2 is 30$. Those prices are fine, but there may be a chance that the prices will continue to drop next year.

NEW PRETTY SERIES ANIME ANNOUNCED FOR 2024!

Did you find it odd that Aikatsu and Pretty Series follows their henshin in reverse order in terms of method?

We'll start with Aikatsu first. With the exception of Planet, all of them are basically like this, running in the dimension inside Fitting Room and dress up starting with tops-accessories, bottoms, and shoes.

I won't include Planet here since it shakes the formula by being done in one ping while transcending from 2D to 3D models.

Then in Pretty Rhythm, there's the scanning system, which usually start from the bottom of their body.

Then PriPara borrows some elements from it by the shoes coming first before the rest of the outfit.

Post-PriPara, they're pretty much the same: shoes, tops-bottoms/dress, and accessories.

In short, Aikatsu starts the henshin with upper part of the body, while Pretty Series inverses this by having foot-first transformation.

My Melody card sleeves! I tried them on different Pretty Series cards!

An idea I got today. Recently I bought these My Melody card sleeves on Amazon Japan and wanted to try them on my Pretty Series cards! I own all of the formats starting from PriPara to AiPri (minus PriChan, but they were the same as PriPara just with a different design).

(Sorry for the dramatic lighting in the pictures lol it wasn't intentional c:)

The sleeves, they had them with different characters but of course I had to go with my beloved My Melo: ����

The cards:

First I tried the one that seems the most unfitting, aka the PriMagi card:

It really doesn't fit. Not only there is too much space between the card and the sleeve but the upper part of the card doesn't get in which is a shame!

It still looks pretty if you put it against the light at least! PriMagi cards really were magic items…

Now for the AiPri card! I really have high hopes for this one.

Ah! The moon is covering Rinrin's face… and you can already see there's still a bit of space between the card and the sleeve.

Despite the size difference this one looks much better! Too cute! 🥹

The sparkle of the card intensifies too…

Now for the PriTicket! This one comes from yeeeears ago, when @pretty-idol-hell mailed a bunch to different people! (It was actually my first time receiving something that wasn't a postcard ahahah)

I think the PriTicket fits slightly better than the AiPri card! It's also convenient that the designs on the sleeves cover the QR codes. PriTickets were printed with a bit of a bending so the sleeve opens at the top but I think it's fixable by putting them inside a heavy book like a pressed flower.

And look, Luna became my oshi! 😆

Even with PriTickets the sparkle increases ✨

Admittedly I didn't look up at the size when I bought them but when something becomes even more cuter it's never a waste of time and resources! They'll probably look good inside an ita bag/pouch or smartphone case. I should try someday…
