W9D1: Praise Him through it all, especially to kick-off the week.
As a new week begins and I prepare for what it come, I kick off my day with praise. God is so good and so faithful. I know that He is at work, just like when Daniel prayed and Gabriel was on His way to answer from day 1, I am trusting that since this journey began that God has been at work for what’s next. Marathon training W9D1: 29 km I am honestly SO happy about this run. It was 3.5 km longer than my run a week and a half ago that completely kicked my ass, but it felt sososo much better. The biggest help I think was finally buying a hydration belt so I had water with me the whole time. Considering I was practically delirious with thirst for the last 5 km of my last long run, this made a huge difference. It just holds 2 15 oz bottles, and I thought it might not be enough, but it was actually perfect. I stopped and had a sip of water every kilometre or so, then I fully drained it with like 2 km left. On top of the physical benefit of being hydrated, it just really helped mentally to know I could drink water whenever I needed. Plus I took a quick break at the 15 km mark to take a gel and drink some water, which definitely helped. But honestly I am so proud of this run. I felt strong the whole way through, and I didn't let the overall distance intimidate me in the first few kilometres. And even once my legs started feeling like bricks towards the end I never doubted that I could finish. I essentially ran the same pace as for my 25.5 km run with significant negative splits, and went 3.5 km farther with WAY less effort. I just passed the halfway point in my training cycle (what?????) and this was exactly the confidence boost I needed.

Today I started 10K training! I didn’t want to because I was tired, sluggish from a weekend of crappy food, and hadn’t even finished my first bottle of water by 12:30 when I started (I’d prefer to have 2 done, which is 50oz), but I did it and I’m happy now!
I switched from couch to 5k to the 10k program, so I started on w9d1 today. It was 54 minutes long and I did 4.7 miles which is INSANE and is the farthest I’ve ever ran. I didn’t feel great when I was doing it, but I’m super happy and proud of myself now. The street I added for the extra distance was super hilly so I have like 50 floors right now. Crazy.
So excited for the leaps I’m making on this journey. It’s still a little about losing weight, but I’m doing things I never thought i’d be capable of at any weight, so you know what? This weight ain’t so bad.
