so it's something, whether it's noteworthy in a morning's headache or something horrifically hollowed out in a passing exchange, it's something scraped into shreds with his fingers chilled by the condensation of an abandoned cup making loose purchase at josh washington's shirt collar, balancing &. drumming, restless in a ruined attempt because laughing at the joke of it all always took precedence now ( when'd you last kiss someone, and took it seriously ? think about that, fuckhead ) but dylan halts with that thread, winces when he bumps with his left &. lands freezing fingers on the cut of josh's jaw to hold him there, keep him still, try again. seriously, honestly, embarrassingly this time. the heart in his throat's thumping hard enough to hear, but at least the blood's still pumping. small victories, baby steps, catastrophic heartaches.

an unspoken sense of understanding , though he'd never truly be able to understand his pain ; the guilt and loss he went through was uncomparable to josh's . looking at him now , after the cruelty of their circle's deeds , it was like drawing the light from each fleeting sunset ; a reminder that he's failed , not once , not twice , but countless of times the light submerged into indygo and let the darkness crawl into each curve and corner .
