NOW WITH A WAY TO FULLY STOP THE NEW OUTLOOK INSTALL AND KEEP YOUR SWEET SWEET CALENDAR
If you have more stuff to share, you are welcome to put it in your reblogs
Fixing Windows 11 - A Masterpost
Windows 11 is absolute crap for a good bunch of stuff so yeah, have a masterpost with most of the things I've found around to fix it haha (they're not all here because I did stuff around and I don't remember what)
I also have a ko-fi if ever you want to help.
Stopping W11 from making you create an account/setting up your computer without internet (with a way to create gpedit.msc if your version doesn't have it)
Fixing the Taskbar (in case you also don't like the grouped Battery/internet/sound or the way the windows look)(there's more to it, check the settings)
How to move the volume and luminosity pop ups (so you can finally see those sweet sweet subtitles)
In case ModernFlyouts doesn't automatically start up, possible solution
Fixing the Start Menu (ExplorerPatcher can do that too, btw)
How to show all options right away
A way to stop Outlook (new)'s forced install (great if you're using the calendar)
https://github.com/matej137/OutlookRemover
(Tumblr doesn't want to embed the link for some reason)
How to remove Copilot if you have it (I don't, but it might be because I'm in Europe??)
Apparently Copilot is being forced on people so hummm
Other stuff not specifically related to the shit W11 did
Changing the size of the scroll bars
How to fully remove Cortana

First half done. 15 races. All won by Redbull. We had the fastest car and we didn't win all races. W11 was a beast. How is this sport not rigged?

If gpedit.msc doesn't exist, you have to create a .bat file on your desk.
Open the basic text editor (idk the english version) and type in/copy-paste
@echo off pushd "%~dp0" dir /b %SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientExtensions-Package~3*.mum >List.txt dir /b %SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientTools-Package~3*.mum >>List.txt for /f %%i in ('findstr /i . List.txt 2^>nul') do dism /online /norestart /add-package:"%SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\%%i" pause
Save it as a .bat file on your desk then run it as administrator
Once it ran entirely, restart your computer.
You can now do WIN + R and type gpedit.msc to run it
I got a laptop with Windows 11 for an IT course so I can get certified, and doing the first time device set-up for it made me want to commit unspeakable violence
Windows 11 should not exist, no one should use it for any reason, it puts ads in the file explorer and has made it so file searches are also web searches and this cannot be turned off except through registry editing. Whoever is responsible for those decisions should be killed, full stop.
Switch to linux, it's free and it's good.

In case you are using Explorer Patcher, maybe you suddenly ended up with the W11 original start menu after and update.
This is a reminder to keep Explorer Patcher updated in order to not face this problem. This latest update is also detected as containing a virus or other dangerous file, but this is most likely due to Windows being pissed at them for fixing their stupid crap. A guide on how to fix that is given in the release (link given under).

The Thrill of the Unexpected: My W11 Midterm Pitching Experience
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you had to deliver a presentation or pitch with very little time to prepare? That was exactly the scenario my team and I faced during our W11 Midterm Pitching Experience. Despite the last-minute nature of our preparation, we were able to not only meet but exceed expectations, leaving us with a sense of accomplishment and excitement.
It all started the night before our midterm pitching session. As a team, we realized that we had underestimated the time required to prepare for the presentation. With only hours to go before the big moment, panic began to set in. However, instead of succumbing to the pressure, we rallied together and got to work.
The next few hours were a whirlwind of brainstorming, refining ideas, creating slides, and rehearsing our pitch. It was a true test of our teamwork, creativity, and ability to think on our feet. Despite the late hour, there was an electric energy in the air as we worked tirelessly to pull everything together.
As the clock ticked closer to the presentation time, we felt a mixture of nervousness and excitement. Would our rushed preparation be enough to impress the panel? We were about to find out.
When the moment finally arrived, we stepped into the room ready to deliver our pitch. Despite the short time we had to prepare, we were confident in the strength of our ideas and our ability to communicate them effectively.
To our surprise and delight, the panel was not only receptive to our pitch but impressed by it. They praised our creativity, our innovative approach, and the clarity of our presentation. It was a moment of validation for all of our hard work and dedication.
As we left the room, we couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Despite the challenges we faced, we had risen to the occasion and delivered a pitch that exceeded expectations. It was a reminder of the power of teamwork, resilience, and determination.
Looking back on the experience, I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been pushed out of my comfort zone and forced to think on my feet. It's moments like these that remind us of our capabilities and the importance of embracing challenges head-on.
In the end, our W11 Midterm Pitching Experience was not just about delivering a presentation; it was about pushing ourselves to new heights and proving that with determination and teamwork, anything is possible. And that, in itself, is the true essence of success.

I mean... I "can't" disable windows update, and most threads asking for help with it are flooded with snooty insistence upon it being necessary and/or what you signed up for. Regardless, W11 automatically changes my group policy, registry, services and task scheduler settings related to windows update. I'll get to the bottom of this, but they'll find some way to funnel another workaround eventually. Money-making invasive data generator? You betcha it'll be the same story there too. Layers upon layers of forced re-enabling, nos replaced with laters, no phoning home replaced with some phoning home, insistence that "assistance ensures the quality of the product", and so on. If I didn't need this garbage OS for uni I'd find computers a lot less frustrating.
Initially planned for release in June, the launch of Recall was delayed to address these security concerns. Microsoft now plans to roll out the feature to Windows Insiders testers in October.
Remember that new Windows 11 privacy-violating feature that freaked everyone out a few months ago? The screen-recording gizmo that watches everything you do, including logins with passwords, then records those screens to a database? Then uses "AI" to interpret what it's recorded, so you somebody can search it?
Everyone thought Microsoft had heard the backlash and cancelled the project. Nope.
It's baaaaaaaack... and coming to a Windows 11 PC near you next month, October 2024.
