Does anyone know how to block One Particular Update in Windows 10? Microsoft and I have been in pitched battle for a week now where they WILL put an 'uPdAtE' on my computer that slows my five-year-old uber-powerful gaming machine down to a BRICK that takes THIRTY SECONDS to get off the lockscreen and makes my computer run like a jet engine. That's not even getting into trying to browse, and as for actually playing anything, forget it.

I have taken this update off four times. Every single time, they redownload it overnight, restart my computer (no I didn't need those open programs, why do you ask?) and install the !@#$%^&*() update. Looking online about "how to block One Update In Particular" returned only Official Microsoft Answers that "Um ackshually you can't" and I just straight up don't believe it, developers aren't letting this happen to their computers.

(I already know about "pause updates for blah blah blah" that's not what I want, I still want the rest, I just want this one SHOT IN THE HEAD THREE TIMES.)

hOW do I block this freaking update.

Windows 10 and 11 being decent all purpose operating systems is actually an unintended by product, the original purpose of windows 10/11 was actually the windows update.

Designed to be able to accept more windows updates at a faster rate then any previous OS its almost usefulness as a day to day operating system was "accidental" and "entirely not the point"

This is why windows updates on win 10/11 can interrupt user processes at any moment without any notice

In a statement the CEO of Microsoft said "We really innovated in the world of delivering windows updates as fast and obtrusively as possible, and all those freaks who use it for taxes or watching videos can keep doing that I guess"

Thought Tumblr broke in a new and interesting way, because sometimes I couldn't scroll down the page, but sometimes I could.

Eventually worked out that there was a dead spot on the page, so if my mouse was there, I couldn't scroll. (xkit trying to hide an ad, and getting it wrong? turned xkit off. no dice)

THEN worked out that it wasn't a dead spot on the PAGE but on the SCREEN i.e. if I moved my browser window a bit to the side, the dead spot didn't come with

And if I clicked on the dead spot my browser lost focus

I had to kill almost everything in task manager before I found out it was the Xbox app somehow shitting itself and leaving a small invisible program window in front of everything else I was trying to do
