Just gonna go ahead and recommend @nightingaletrash's Blacklight by Night fic, which is a crossover between Prototype and VTM, because Night is my friend and doesn't promote it enough so CLEARLY SOMEONE here has to fix that. The premise is that the main character of Prototype, who is superhuman due to a virus, is mistaken for a Masquerade-breaking orphaned fledgling by the local Camarilla, who now obviously want to kill a dude who can snap them all like twigs. Hilarity Plot ensues.

It tweaks the canon VTM timeline a bit -- the story actually takes place partway through CoNY even though it's 2008, but I think the story actually works better that way because it implements a lot of familiar faces from CoNY and makes it nice and easy to follow by people who haven't read the NYbN sourcebook. But that also means that I'm dying to see whether the overall CoNY plot of "Sophie sticks her nose into shit" will get resolved in this fic, and, if it does, how it will end 👀 Maybe it will, maybe it won't, we shall see!

You do not need to be familiar with Prototype to read. I have never played it or even seen a Let's Play, I had zero familiarity with it, and I haven't had any issue following it whatsoever; Night does a fantastic job setting things up so that you don't get info dumps, but you still know what's going on.

Also there are so many cameos I'm losing my shit. I'm like a kid at Christmas morning every time I see a familiar face. Cock Robin, Gemini, Calebros, NASTASYA!!!!, Sullivan, Ilias cel Frumos -- it's been a year since I finished RS and it's great seeing all these familiar faces again <3
