Russian Chapel (Vršič Pass), Slovenia

The Russian Chapel (Slovene: Ruska kapelica) is a Russian Orthodox chapel located on the Russian Road on the northern side of the Vršič Pass in northwestern Slovenia. The chapel, dedicated to Saint Vladimir, was built by Russian (actually members of various Slavic nations and Volga Germans that were part of the Russian Empire) prisoners of war engaged in forced labor in the area during World War I. It serves as both a war memorial and a symbolic link between Slovenia and Russia.

RUSSIAN CHAPEL, Vrsic, Slovenia - a beautiful wooden Russian Orthodox chapel located on the northern side of the Vrsic mountain pass, at around 1,100 meters (3,608 feet) approaching from Kranjska Gora. It marks the spot where more than 300 Russian prisoners of war, who were building the road over the Vrsic during World War I, perished in an avalanche in March 1916. Chcieliśmy wejść na jakąś górę w Alpach Julijskich, mieliśmy swój typ, ale sympatyczna Pani z naszego pensjonatu poleciła Slemenovą špice jako idealne miejsce na wyjście z dziećmi. 2/10 w Słoweńskiej skali trudności. Fakt, technicznych trudności było jak na lekarstwo, ale ilość wąskich przejść kończących się przepaściami w dół, mogła być choć trochę mniejsza. Po 2h marszu, mogliśmy zbić piątki za osiągnięcie celu i bezsensowne zmarnowanie energii. W drodze powrotnej spotkaliśmy kozice, a po powrocie na parking okazało się że, okoliczne owce skryły się w cieniu naszego samochodu, blokując do niego dostęp. Rozwa��yliśmy wszystkie możliwości, które się pojawiły (łącznie z zaproszeniem jednej z owieczek do samochodu i założenia farmy w Gliwicach), ale ostatecznie po porostu grzecznie zasugerowaliśmy im, żeby się czym prędzej oddaliły gdzie indziej w poszukiwaniu cienia.

Die Multistrada ist eines meiner liebsten Motorräder, da ich sehr reisefreudig bin! Mit diesem Bike kann ich einfach beide Passionen optimal miteinander verbinden.
