Did you know that Vtubing is free?

Because it is!

A lot of people say that vtubing is expensive are only thinking of commissioned Live2D. There are ways to get a free quality Live2D model or comparable.

VRoid studio allows you to build your own 3D vtuber for free. You can also find free premade 3D VRoids on Booth/Gumroad. These can also be imported into VRChat and used for MMD with some conversion.

PNGTubing/GIFTubing which is free/low cost for very a very high quality option with basic animations.

All of these have really inexpensive upgrades. For under $50 on Booth you can get a great Live2D models.

You can also get VRChat base models for $30+ on Booth that while not as customizable for the base as VRoid are still very customizable.

So anyone responding with "VTubing is expensive" is not informed about Vtubing. Vtubing has been free and cheap for a while now.

There is SO MUCH MORE out there. This is barely scratching the surface.

All of the VRChat models also have entire clothing sets you can get, accessories, textures, etc. The amount of stuff you can do cheaply for customized VRChat/VRoid is amazing.

I have spent the last few weeks overhauling my ProtoBear VRC avatar, which also included all the public versions I had made.

But I also decided that it was finally good enough for me to make into a base and release into the wild. It is very basic, since it was only the 2nd avatar I ever made, I just cleaned it up a lot, re-did the UV's, fixed up some weights, adjusted the armature, then had to re-make the materials and physbone setups in Unity.

But I'm very happy with how it came out.

Currently it does not have a Quest version, I need to re-visit that as well at some point, but in the meantime you can always generate impostors yourself. :)

Dunno how many of you play VRChat. I know a good chunk of you DO enjoy a certain VRChat roleplay gaming channel though! My partner and I have purchased the asset for the Fwuit Cuppy avatar on VRChat. I've been having fun making textures!~

All avatars seen here are textured by yours truly and they are applied to the model and uploaded by my partner. All of them (Except Solar) are public and free to use. Happy Holidays! Here's a model I've been chipping (ha) away at the past week. He's public, you're free to run around as him! He'll be a little out of place among other Toontown models due to being more simplistically shaded, but I think he still looks very nice.

All of his clothes are toggleable, and he has a wide variety of expressions (which a few can also be somewhat mix and matched)! He also has a working rev feature, though it doesn't produce any sound (currently). His bulbs blink when you talk (on PC only), and his health indicator has a hue slider that works on both PC and Quest.

He also comes with GogoLoco Beyond 1.8.6, which allows for Non-FBT users to mimic Fullbody Tracking. (As a warning however, some of the poses included can be potentially suggestive in nature. I don't know enough about Unity or how GogoLoco works to safely remove said poses.)

Known Issues under the cut:

Filaments do not properly show up on desktop/PCVR when the bulbs are visible.

Additionally, transparency on the bulbs on desktop/PCVR appears to be a little odd.

The Jacket and Undershirt toggles are reversed compared to all other clothing toggles- this is intentional in an attempt to stop a potential blendshape bug from occurring.

Having the Undershirt toggled off while the Jacket is toggled on is prone to cause clipping issues around the shoulders. This is because the blendshapes for wearing the jacket + hiding the undershirt overlay on top of one another, causing slight distortion with the undershirt mesh.

The Override is not intended to use other expressions, though it currently doesn't have anything in place to prevent such.

It’s Bive time! I’m kidding of course, Bive time is all the time, it never ends.

If you want to hear my inane ramblings about her feel free to subject yourself to that for whatever reason btw.

Okay so Bive is a really interesting character to me, and thus I have a lot of interpretations on her character which are probably very unoriginal. The way I draw her is mostly based off of the vrchat avatar of her that I use because I just, I love how shaped she is, she’s such a silly. It’s also my body type, so she has some pudginess going on in my vision even if she is a sentient hairball (that’s also why I gave her a double chin). Actually on the topic, I’ve seen so much diverse fan art of her when it comes to body types and shapes which is always such a joy to see!

I don’t know what’s confirmed or not but I imagine that she has schizophrenia, which is something I hardly ever see represented in fiction, and in fact it’s a disorder I still see is made fun of to this day which is honestly heartbreaking to think about. So even if it isn’t canon, if people with schizophrenia can relate to her and feel seen through her, I find that to be a wonderful thing! I also headcanon her as having AuDHD, mostly due to her dialogue about sensory issues and needing to constantly move, and paired with the schizophrenia I imagine she has some type of generalized anxiety disorder.

This is probably just projection on my part but I also headcanon her as always wearing more modest attire, like the oversized trench coat and maybe turtleneck sweaters or large hoodies in more casual settings. Personally as someone with anxiety if I wear something too revealing or form-fitting I feel extremely uneasy and have to cover up as quickly as possible. But she also doesn’t wear pants as far as I know so idk how well that headcanon holds up. Also she bites when she gets affectionate. And idk how canon it is that Bive doesn’t shower as often as she probably should (executive dysfunction can kiss my ass) but I do think it checks out with what all I’ve said here already, but also because of that I imagine she’s very greasy most of the time.

That’s about it, if I have anything more to add then maybe I’ll reblog this post and add another ramble? Depends on how interested anyone is ig. Ok ramble over, sorry for wasting your time 👋

Some little sneak peaks on the face rigging stage so far. I was having texture errors, so I had to result to asking a subreddit for help (luckily the issue wasn't too big to fix!) So far, Im almost done with the blender stage.

All that's left to complete (blender stage wise) are the clothes, the props, etc. After that, all I gotta do is upload to the vrchat creator companion, and then its off to avatar testing! Once all the bugs and errors have patched, I'm planning to make this a public free avatar for all to use.
