as my frankly slightly embarrassing level of hyperfixation on survivor continues, I find myself trying to combine my two current interests in new and exciting ways. having fun imagining what the various hermitcraft guys would be like in survivor. some thoughts:
doc would ABSOLUTELY be one of the “villains” of the early season, strong and good at survival but terrible social gameplay. he would think he has fantastic strategic gameplay and his attempts to strong-arm camp to do what he wants are for the benefit of his tribe. his TRIBE would decide after about three days that they want him dead. not the first boot because he’s too good at challenges to go first but the first moment he fucks up at all he’s Gone. does not make it to the merge. is confused and frustrated by this the entire time.
scar, by contrast, is one of those players you watch and whisper to yourself “he can’t keep getting away with this”. he’s in like three mutually-exclusive alliances, but he’s so likable and charismatic you can kind of forget that his whole thing is lying to everyone all the time. every tribal council he’s in SOMEONE proposes him as the weak link in challenges and every time he’s managed to convince the tribe there’s some other, better boot. there’s probably at least one player (maybe grian) who knows he’s lying to everyone, is harboring a grudge, and has no idea why everyone keeps on going along with this man’s schemes. definitely makes it to the merge but from there it’s a toss-up if he makes it to FTC or if his dalliances come back to bite him. if he makes it to FTC though he has higher odds of losing in jury to everyone who he betrayed than he does managing to pull off a win, especially if his FTC is with people who can put challenge wins or loyalty in their speeches to the jury.
cleo strikes me as a player who ends up with an early alliance that she is doggedly loyal to until the end. probably fun to watch because her confessionals are sarcastic and she’s unafraid to insult her fellow contestants, but her loyalty to her day one crew makes her storyline come across as heroic. probably one of the better challenge players and would help carry her tribe, though she probably wouldn’t “lead” it. I can see her being the final surviving member of her alliance either in her tribe or post-merge, but I can’t see her wheeling and dealing into a new alliance if hers doesn’t end up as the majority alliance; instead, she does everything she can to save her allies, and then she goes out. a season she’d win is one where she’s in the majority alliance, seen as a lesser threat when she gets to the merge by the other players, and manages to go to FTC having made no one mad and with at least a few good plays under her belt. otherwise I see her as a late boot, but going out with her allies.
grian would make people MAD, but not in a “get rid of him immediately” way like doc. a bit of an agent of chaos, but if anything would set off grian’s bossy project manager instincts, survivor would. ends up kind of the “leader” of his tribe, both for good—he’s hard to boot early—and for ill—he pisses people off and he’s a very visible threat. I think he’d be good at finding idols and is good enough at keeping himself around. his survival I think depends on the willingness of other alliances to believe him when he flips his vote to save his skin and how good he is at keeping immunity; i think there’s not a world where he can manage his threat level well enough not to be targeted, but I think there’s a one where he manages to keep himself around despite that. if he makes it to FTC he either wins by being able to honestly say he had the best game or loses because the jury’s bitter against him, no in-between.
iskall would be one of the capital-c Characters of a season I think, whether he goes early or late. he’s friendly, decent at challenges, and, most importantly to the producers, just weird as hell enough to make good tv. probably gets more screen time than his gameplay deserves because he’s pegged as a potential fan-favorite. another player who makes a few close early alliances and sticks to them, but less doggedly loyal than cleo and more likely to seriously consider flipping. he DOESN’T, but he thinks about it. I don’t see him as a post-merge player honestly, I don’t think his strategic play is great, but I do see him as someone who gets to come back for another season to try again.
joe is already a capital-c Character. I think he’d be someone who is way too stressed out by survivor gameplay to play well, attaches himself to an alliance and then is Terrified for the rest of the game of messing up. however he’s ALSO fun as a guy and probably just Says Shit during tribal councils. that saying shit either gets him further than his gameplay would deserve or gets him booted SUPER early. he does not regret getting booted early; he wouldn’t quit but he would decide that it’s better for his heart to not be on the island. I think he’d be a surprise sleeper at challenges; not so much physically strong as someone who is VERY good at all the mental ones.
and these are just the ones I have thought of off the top of my head if anyone else has opinions. please share. this is fun.

Congratulations to Chloë Grace Moretz who came out as a lesbian in an Instagram post November 2, 2024. She using the occasion to announce she voted for President Kamala Harris as President, saying:
“I voted early and I voted for Kamala Harris, There is so much on the line this election. I believe the government has no right over my body as a woman, and that the decisions over my body should come ONLY from myself and my doctor. Kamala Harris will protect that for us.”
She added: “I believe in the need for legal protections that protects the LGBTQ+ community as a gay woman.”
Moretz was born and raised in Georgia. She describes her family as "very Christian" Southern Baptists. In 2002, at the age of 5, she moved to New York City with her mother and older brother Trevor, who had been accepted into a performing arts school there. This triggered her interest in acting.
In less than three years she she was cast in guest roles on TV. She played Ryan Reynolds’ daughter in the 2005 remake of “The Amityville Horror”.
Her major breakthrough came in 2010 when Moretz was cast as Hit-Girl in the comic book film “Kick-Ass” and as the child vampire in “Let Me In”.
In an interview in 2018, she said that two of her three brothers came out as gay. Because of their religious community, they both dealt with self-hate, and tried to "pray the gay away". She credits her mother who is very progressive, with helping them to accept themselves as they are.
This experienced motivated Moretz to starred in “The Miseducation of Cameron Post” about a teen involved in same-sex relationship who is then sent by her parent to a Christian conversion camp.
In 2021 Moretz helped produced the six-part Snapchat series “Coming Out” highlighting young LGBTQ people.
Moretz has been romantically linked with Brooklyn Beckham (David Beckham’s son). But she began a relationship with model Kate Harrison in 2018.
Although Moretz likes to “keep my private life private” she used the occasion of voting for Kamala Harris to announce to the public she is a “Gay Woman”.

I went to Gina Carano's panel at Fanboy Expo today too. I was hoping for a scrap of Cara content and honestly curious what she was like irl. I did my best to go in with an open mind. (If you've been following me you'll know I am a former fan - loved her as soon as I saw Cara Dune, dove into her other stuff and loved her as a performer and found her MMA career awesome, will not stand for her bigotry and spreading misinformation.) I took notes so everything in quotes is directly what she said, brackets to add context or when I missed exact words.
Panel started with a review of her fighting career, nothing that hasn't been covered before. She was asked "Where would you be [career wise] if not for fighting and acting?" and she said "I don't know, I wouldn't be here." She says she actually dreamed of being in romance movies and wearing pretty dresses, and now she's in action movies, which was actually pretty cute. She always liked sports. The panel person asked "How did you know you were good at fighting?" and she just said "I always knew."
She then talked about being cast in Haywire, Steven Soderergh and his wife saw her fight Cyborg and thought about making a movie around her. She said "They didn't give me an acting coach. They just put me in with all these people. [....] Michael Fassbender gave me a whiskey and sat down and went over the lines with me." (Almost all of her lines in that movie were dubbed over. Her fight scenes in it are amazing.)
About Fast and Furious 6 she said "Now I have to watch all of them? .....I didn't." Which was genuinely funny.
For Deadpool, "Let me tell you about the superhero landing. I'm going to ruin it all." She filmed it by just jumping off an apple box apparently lmao. "The first time I jumped and landed I just heard this wailing of laughter. [The director] said "That was the most anticlimatic thing I've ever seen." She also said Ryan Reynolds would riff and sometimes she'd forget she was in the scene/on camera and break character by laughing.
Mentions of her beef with Lucasfilm/Disney were peppered throughout the whole panel. She said "I have no intention of not doing what my heart desires." Which... okay, if you're a toddler. I wanna punt the principal I had last year into the sun but I remained professional and am now getting a new job. A loooooooooot of the way she said things/her general vibe reminded me of kiddos I got when I worked at an expensive summer camp whose population was mainly rich white kids - kids who had never before been denied anything in their life, and being told no, no matter how kindly, was treated as devastating. (And then they figured it out in a few days when tantruming at me didn't work. Gina, apparently, has not figured that out yet.) (Also for context, if you didn't know, she is a trust fund baby and her family is in Vegas casinos. I highly doubt she is hurting for money.)
Also after seeing Giancarlo Esposito's panel, and how well-spoken he is and how thoughtfully he chose his words even while discussing things like voting and the current state of the world, it just really stood out how she doesn't know how to conduct herself professionally. She's said herself she isn't good at public speaking, which fair, she was a bit soft spoken and shy but I don't just mean that. She doesn't have a "customer service" face like us normal people have to put on at work. She doesn't seem to think she has to. You can be genuine while still being polite - I do it all the time at work, I did it at this panel while asking my question to her, and I'm sure you all know part of life is putting on different "attitudes" for different situations.
She is starting her own production company. She wants to write, star, produce, and direct apparently (unclear if all at once or on different projects, I sure envy her blind confidence tho). She wants to do this because "She's seen where it's gone wrong." (See what I mean about beef peppered throughout?) When asked what her ultimate passion project would be, she said "It's not so much if it's a drama, comedy, or action, it has to have heart and it has to have meaning. It has to have a good story." She mentioned she was working on a movie and series and had some ideas and stories, but no specifics.
She wouldn't stop mentioning God or Jesus either (so I'd bet money she's That Kind of Christian*) and someone asked her "How do you practice choosing roles with discernment [regarding your faith]?" Her answer: "Oh I never think about it." She says she's not a prude but wouldn't do certain things, but she decided this in 2020. She did not elaborate, but apparently "God will let her know when she crosses the line." So I guess we aren't getting any more topless Insta pics lol.
(*I'm trying not to be an ass but as a queer woman, I know That Kind Of Christian when I see it, and she clocked like that hard. Ymmv.)
Finally a Mandalorian question, her favorite and the hardest scenes to film on The Mandalorian. She said the season 2 final scene was the hardest, because it was emotional "and there was more going on the scenes than people realize." The other was when Grogu was choking her. She was holding her breath too hard and passed out. (I honestly thought she was choking when she said that when the episode originally aired.) Brendan Wayne was in the scene with her and was worried, and then she did it again.
I was next, and I first (truthfully) told her that I appreciated seeing someone like her onscreen, because I hadn't looked like Rey/Padme/Leia since I was 16. I then asked "Where do you see Cara's character going in the future, and what detail about her backstory didn't make it onscreen?" She said she thinks Cara is still floating around with special forces, and "Disney could do more with that if they got their head out of their ass." Everyone clapped, I didn't, I kept my hands clasped and said thank you. She did not answer my other question. So unfortunately, no character tidbits about Cara.
Next person asked if Mark Wahlberg and Mel Gibson [and some other "canceled" actor, I can't remember] know about her and if they'll work with her in the future. She said maybe, she's open to it. "I'm not into chasing people to work." I had to bite my tongue because GIRL YOU ARE CHASING DISNEY DOWN TO REHIRE YOU.
She was asked about the lawsuit and if she'd take the role of Cara back if it was offered. She said "I loved playing Cara Dune" and Jon Favreau "really got into her brain" and was happy to see her at Carl Weathers' funeral, but ended with a wishy washy we'll see/God will work in his own way. She did say she still keeps in touch with Bill Burr and "He's my favorite. He's so funny. Gina, we gotta go to a UFC fight some day."
She was asked "Do you have a fight you look back on with fondness?" She said there's only one she doesn't look back on fondly (presumably Cyborg) and rambled a bit about her fights. The person asked the same question again, and she again answered "There's only one I don't look back on fondly."
She did say she's focusing again on getting healthier and training again. She says she was "the only girl they couldn't chase away" back in the day and "I'll be in my 80s shadowboxing in the basement saying I can still fight" which was genuinely cute. She also talked about how she had to figure out eating and weight control on her own, nowadays trainers have nutrition services as sponsors. She said it was tough to drop the weight, it was like losing part of her body. (She didn't always make exact weight in her MMA fights and back then, they didn't have a class heavier than 135 lb iirc.) Muay Thai was her favorite. She recommends jujitsu for women looking to protect themselves, since you end up on the floor, but "I just love to punch. They tell me I punch like a trucker."
She ended with another jab at Disney (she did have people kissing her ass the whole time about Freeze Peach and encouraging this) and "When is someone gonna stop them from treating people the way they've been treating people." Also, God is using Elon Musk, which is one hell of a sentence. And that was the panel. (Terror on the Prairie, her big comeback, was not mentioned once.)
She was very nice and sweet and all, but what really stood out to me was a complete lack of creativity. Her answers were very canned, there was very little I hadn't heard in another interview. She just sounded kinda dim, to be blunt. She didn't elaborate on her answers (she couldn't imagine another career she'd like, for my question she just repeated what Disney had already established, she had no specifics for a passion project/idea, she couldn't recall a specific fond moment from a fight or anything, so on). A lot of Disney bad, God good, I should be able to say what I want, rinse and repeat. She's said for a long while she's passionate about art and telling stories. I am too, so I relate - but I've put in time and practice to be able to make what I do. My impression is she wants the praise and adulation, but without the hard parts that go with it. (Honestly I also think CTE may be a factor. She does NOT sound like she did in interviews years ago. Like after she found out Cyborg (the only fight she lost) was on steroids her response was very graceful and kind.)
This is long and I know you're probably thinking why do you care, but I truly admired her. She was a MMA champ in a time when women weren't seen as being able to do the sport. She was positive about her body and I started getting serious about the gym and being healthier because of her onscreen on Cara Dune. She literally made me realize I'm more than a little gay because she's so gorgeous. Ironically, her behavior nowadays inspires me to be brave and speak up for what I believe in despite being naturally shy. I would still be her biggest fan if she hadn't mocked the queer community and spread misinformation and tantrumed when she was called out on it. I even have some empathy - 18 year old me would have been 100% behind her and supported her. But I listened to other perspectives and learned and grew. She clearly has no desire to change herself, or even try to listen to others. I've made the decision to go no contact with my paternal family since I came out because they're the same way. So it stings to see someone so loudly and proudly be like them and be praised and accepted for it. To look around an entire room and wonder who here is happy with people like me being legislated into silence, or worse. For people to clap when Gina says she won't be forced to be "woke" - aka to respect people who are different, like me. Remember, Disney never asked her to stop believing her MAGA stuff, they just wanted her to act professionally while she was their employee.
In any case, nothing will stop me from loving Cara Dune, and I will proudly wear my new cosplay tomorrow.

Ok no but Arcane Survivor!AU crack idea. Piltover || Lanes || Zaun. Spitballing ideas
-Vander and the kids as Lanes. They try their best but Jinx accidentally causes Vander, Mylo, and Claggor to get medically evacced during challenges or at camp due to some ambitious mistakes and risky maneuvers to win. With only them left, Vi and Jinx are split up and absorbed into the two tribes, Vi to Piltover, Jinx to Zaun. Silco naturally takes Jinx under his wing, to the chagrin of Sevika and the rest.
-Viktor is out Episode 1 on Piltover’s side due to medical issues flaring up. He tried his best :(
-In Piltover, Mel and Jayce finding love, Mel putting Jayce in her pocket and weaving him around her finger as they become the dominant forces in their tribe
-In Piltover, Heimerdinger at some point is voted out despite having contributed a whole lot to his team due to politicking on Mel and Jayce’s end. The nice trusting guy gets to be the scapegoat
-Also in Piltover, Cait and Vi at first are at each other’s throats, but eventually find love and try to set themselves up as their own coalition/alliance against Jayce and Mel
-In Zaun, Sevika and Silco constantly argue over Jinx, but Jinx proves that her wacky out-there ideas on how to solve puzzles and challenges is what nets them win after win, though at the cost of some injuries toward other tribe members. Silco somehow manages to convince everyone that a few bruises and scrapes and near-accidental drownings are worth the wins because it means their tribe is still robust in members
-However, over time the number of injuries become so great that some need to be evacced or become less than optimal during the challenges to the point they can’t execute the plans Jinx and Silco lay out and they start to lose
-depending on the location, Jinx manages to trap local wildlife and provide meat for the tribe.
-Also takes charge of decorating the shelters. She and Silco sleep in the same shelter and talk long in the night. In the Interview asides, Silco subtly threatens to stab the producer when they dare suggest it might be a “romantic” relationship (yes, she’s 19, he’s 44. She’s homesick and feels guilty over causing her tribe to dissolve. No it is NOT a romantic thing you nasty voyeurs at home)
-Sevika in her Interview: *arms crossed* Nah it’s nothing like that. Still weird though. And she’s a fucking brat regardless. Kid put stinkbugs in my porridge this morning.
-Something something something something Silco and Jinx in the same tribe and she sometimes makes the team lose challenges but sometimes is the linchpin and during one challenge she makes a mistake and gets Silco seriously injured and he needs to be medically evacced but he’s like ‘No it’s okay. You’ve done so well. You can win this for the both of us.’ AND SHE FUCKING. DOES.
Idk i’m just rambling.

CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) — Moldovans are casting ballots in two key votes Sunday that could determine whether the European Union candidate country, which neighbors Ukraine, remains on a pro-western path amid ongoing allegations that Russia has tried to undermine the electoral process.
Incumbent President Maia Sandu is the favorite to secure another term in office in a presidential race in which 11 candidates are running. Voters will also choose “yes” or “no” in a referendum on whether to enshrine in the country’s constitution its path toward the 27-nation EU.
Polls by WatchDog, a Chisinau-based think-tank show a clear majority of more than 50% support the EU path. The referendum needs a one-third turnout to be valid.
Polling stations opened at 7 a.m. (0400GMT) and are expected to close at 9 p.m. (1800GMT). By 4 p.m., more than 1.1 million voters in total — about 39% of eligible voters — had cast ballots, according to the Central Electoral Commission. By 3 p.m., 32% had voted in the EU referendum, nearly passing the validation threshold.
If Sandu fails to win an outright majority on Sunday, a runoff will be held on Nov. 3 which could pit her against Alexandr Stoianoglo, a Russia-friendly former prosecutor general who is polling at around 10%.
The two pivotal ballots are held amid ongoing claims by Moldovan authorities that Moscow has intensified an alleged “hybrid war” campaign to destabilize the country and derail its EU path. The allegations include funding pro-Moscow opposition groups, spreading disinformation, meddling in local elections, and backing a major vote-buying scheme.
U.S. national security spokesman John Kirby echoed those concerns this week, saying in a statement that “Russia is working actively to undermine Moldova’s election and its European integration”. Moscow has repeatedly denied it is interfering in Moldova.
“In the last several months, Moscow has dedicated millions of dollars to influencing Moldova’s presidential election,” Kirby said. “We assess that this money has gone toward financing its preferred parties and spreading disinformation on social media in favor of their campaigns.”
In early October, Moldovan law enforcement said it had uncovered a massive vote-buying scheme orchestrated by Ilan Shor, an exiled pro-Russia oligarch who currently resides in Russia, which paid 15 million euros ($16.2 million) to 130,000 individuals to undermine the two ballots.
Shor, who was convicted in absentia last year to 15 years in jail on fraud and money laundering in the case of $1 billion that went missing from Moldovan banks in 2014, denied allegations, saying “the payments are legal” and cited a right to freedom of expression. Shor’s populist Russia-friendly Shor Party was declared unconstitutional last year and banned.
Constantin Celac, a 37-year-old multimedia producer, said in central Chisinau that he cast his ballots in favor of Sandu and EU integration because “it is the best way” forward for Moldova. He said that while he does have concerns about Russian meddling, “I trust our government … to fight against them.”
On Thursday, Moldovan authorities foiled another plot in which more than 100 young Moldovans received training in Moscow from private military groups on how to create civil unrest around the two votes. Some also attended “more advanced training in guerrilla camps” in Serbia and Bosnia, police said, and four people were detained for 30 days.
Sandu cast her own ballot in the capital on Sunday and told the media that “Moldovans themselves must choose their own fate, and not others, nor the dirty money or the lies.”
“I voted for Moldova to be able to develop in peace and liberty,” she said.
A pro-Western government has been in power in Moldova since 2021, a year after Sandu won the presidency. A parliamentary election will be held next year.
Moldova, a former Soviet republic with a population of about 2.5 million, applied to join the EU in the wake of Russia’s full-scale invasion of neighboring Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, and was granted candidate status that summer, alongside Ukraine. Brussels agreed in June to start membership negotiations.
Loredana Godorogea, a 29-year-old IT manager who lives in Chisinau, said she also voted in favor of the incumbent president and the path toward the EU. “I think in the next five years we can be more close economically with the European Union, and I also think a big factor will be the war in Ukraine,” she said.

i got addicted to watching survivor again….i know dennis would suck at every challenge (doesnt even attempt most of them, sits out when he can) and constantly complain about every little thing on the island and annoy his tribemates. says in confessionals hes the ultra smart manipulator running the game but in reality everyone only doesnt vote for him because theyre worried mac will beat them up if they do and charlie wont let them eat his fish anymore. also he has no shot at winning so hes not a threat and might get carried to the end, but i feel like he gets voted out soon after mac and the threat of physical repercussion is gone and the rest of the tribe has decided they can do without charlies fish. sits very cuntily on the jury and the camera sweeps over all the time to get his reaction shots and his boobs in frame.
mac is a challenge beast that tries providing for the tribe (dennis and charlie) but fails miserably, he probably gets voted off before the merge because people are rightfully worried about an immunity run. i feel like mac can glance over at dennis sitting bored on the sit out bench and he stacks his entire tribe on his back and finishes the challenge single handedly. constantly talks about his love for god which might endear some more christian tribemates at first, but quickly gets annoying. when he gets voted out he accuses his tribe of being homophobes, when dennis gets voted out mac starts yelling and stomping his feet in the jury and almost storms tribal council to fight everyone and subsequently gets removed from the show. if he somehow manages to get to the end he would probably get some votes for his sheer physicality, but i dont think enough people respect the zero strategy all brute force gameplay for him to win. also they think hes annoying too.
charlie is climbing trees and swimming in the ocean catching fish without the gear, hes less providing for the tribe and its more that he catches fish with his bare hands for fun and cant eat them all on his own so after charlie mac and dennis have eaten their fill the rest of the tribe falls over charlies harvest like hungry vultures. one day charlie brings a shark to camp and nobody is brave enough to ask how he got it. is definitely fucking dennis behind some palm trees every day but nobody tells him to knock it off because hes so useful (tribe mates) and entertaining (producers). accidentally makes fake immunity idols for himself dennis and mac (he was trying to make friendship bracelets) and thus protects them all. has immunity run at the end and shouts out paddys pub every time he wins. also does a little dance. gets to final tribal council where his speech is surprisingly compelling (he mentions surviving an abortion and several jury members tear up, mac and dennis throw him obvious softballs that make him look good) and he wins with every single vote minus macs (he wrote cat as a joke but one of the other two finalists was called cat which mac didnt know and then he was too embarrassed to explain it). cashes his million out in one large suitcase and then accidentally drops it into the ocean. ate his buff.
dee gets voted out on day one. sorry but its true. the second shes sitting at tribal council shes voted out. sorry. i think she could go crazy at some challenges tho but again shes first boot. sorry. might have voted for charlie if she made jury or not, depending on her mood that day. probably not tho.
frank gets medevaced after he eats some clams he found sticking to the reef rocks and gets diarrhea. no one was voting for him anyways because charlie told everyone frank was rich (he was trying to keep it a secret). doesnt make jury but would have voted for charlie. there are some slow mo shots of him rolling around in the sand after he ate the clams, which will be his only survivor heritage.

Fandom song animatic tournament: Side A Round 2
Just Take My Wallet (Softest way to say/You took away my friend) - Jack Stauber
"What's the kindest way to say You took away my friend, my buddy? What's the kindest way to say The end?"
Blue Lips - Regina Spektor
"Blue lips, blue veins Blue, the color of our planet from far, far away"
Baby Hotline - Jack Stauber
"I contend that your drinking eye has never opened I insist somebody will die, and I hate hoping Wishing that the pills let you cry, and I hate coping Someday I will go back outside and see her, okay"
Remember that we're voting on how Iconic they are for ANIMATICS, not for the song itself. In order to make things fair, the tone and mood of the song should not affect how iconic it is (for example, a serious song should not be considered more iconic than a joke song just because it's serious)
Propaganda and animatic links of the songs under the cut:
Just Take My Wallet - Jack Stauber
Propaganda:
Makes me feel bad! /pos
Animatics with the song:
Adventure Time Marceline
Your Boyfriend
Omori
DSMP
QSMP
Warrior cats Mothwing Animatic
Blue Lips - Regina Spektor
Propaganda:
name a fandom that hasnt had an amv or something to this song. idk im not very convincing about this. but i know its popular
this one isn't used too much now but it was literally Everywhere & produced some of the most iconic fandom pmvs. also it's just a good song
I don't even think I need to say anything about this one. If you were into animatics in like 2016-2018... you know. You just know. The color of our planet from far far away.
Animatics with the song:
Undertale Sans
Ace Attorney
Detroit: Become Human
Camp Camp
Wings of Fire
BNHA
Baby Hotline - Jack Stauber
Propaganda:
jack stauber is iconic for his contributions to the youtube animation community already but baby hotline especially it makes me evil <4
Animatics with the song:
Chainsaw Man
Your Boyfriend
Welcome Home
The Mandela Catalogue
The Owl House
Please be cautious and read the title, description and warning cards on the animatic videos if you decide to watch them. If you've got specific triggers I'd recommend even more caution when watching animatics of fandoms you don't know, since sometimes canon-typical themes don't get warnings.

French voters are waiting to see the full line-up for the second round of parliamentary elections, as scores of candidates stood aside in order to help defeat the far-right National Rally (RN).
Parties have until 18:00 (17:00 BST) Tuesday evening to register contenders for Sunday.
Only then will it be clear how many from the left and centre have abandoned the race in the hope of unifying the anti-RN vote.
Last Sunday’s first round produced a big victory for the party of Marine Le Pen, which - with allies - won around 33% of the vote.
A broad left-wing alliance came second, and President Emmanuel Macron’s centrists third.
But Ms Le Pen’s chances of winning an outright majority in the 577-seat National Assembly have been dented by the blocking tactics of her party’s enemies.
In more than half of constituencies – around 300 – three candidates qualified from the first round of voting (nearly everywhere else it was just two).
If in these constituencies one of the two non-RN runners stands aside, this increases the chances of the RN candidate being defeated.
By midday Tuesday around 200 candidates from the left and centre were understood to have taken the step.
The left-wing New Popular Front (NPF) – which comprises everyone from centre-left social democrats to far-left anti-capitalists – issued instructions to all of its third-placed candidates to step down and let a centrist reap the anti-RN vote.
The NPF is thus helping two senior pro-Macron MPs – former prime minister Elisabeth Borne and Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin – to win in their constituencies in Normandy and the north.
Conversely a pro-Macron candidate has stood down in order to help radical left-winger François Ruffin defeat the RN candidate in the northern city of Amiens.
The RN’s 28 year-old president – and hopeful for prime minister – Jordan Bardella condemned these arrangements as the fruit of an “alliance of dishonour” between parties that until now have been at each other’s throats.
Instructions to candidates from Mr Macron’s centrist bloc have been more ambiguous than the NPF’s.
Though Mr Macron himself and Prime Minister Gabriel Attal have called for “no vote for the RN”, some in his camp believe its far-left component makes the NPF equally unpalatable.
Senior figures like Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire and former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe – both originally from the centre-right – are refusing to issue instructions to vote systematically against the RN.
RN insiders told Le Figaro newspaper that its opponents’ tactics did not bother them.
“On the contrary, it’s good news. The overall message they’re giving out is that it’s the entire system which is against us... It’s another big stitch-up and our voters are tired of it,” one said.
RN leaders have said they will not attempt to form a government unless they are given an outright majority in the parliament in Sunday’s vote.
They say they do not want to be given the appearance of power, if the reality is they cannot pass laws.
However on Tuesday Marine Le Pen qualified this, when she said that a lower majority would be good enough – if it does not fall too far short of the 289 member threshold.
Speaking on French radio she said that winning around 270 deputies would allow her party to open talks with individual MPs from other groups in the hope of persuading them into an accord.
“We are going to say to them: ‘Are you ready to participate with us in a new majority? Are you ready to vote a confidence motion? Are you ready to vote for the budget?’” she said.
She cited as possible targets independent MPs of right and left, and part of the conservative Republicans party which won 10% of the vote on Sunday.
If the RN wins an absolute majority on Sunday, Mr Bardella would be asked by President Macron to form a government – and there would then begin a tense period of “cohabitation” between two political enemies.
Under the French Fifth Republic constitution, power would flow away from Mr Macron to the prime minister’s office because “the government determines and conducts the policy of the nation”.
However Mr Macron would probably seek to retain powers in the areas of foreign policy and defence, which from precedent – and not from the actual wording of the constitution – have remained the preserve of the Elysée in past cohabitations.
Marine Le Pen also accused the president Tuesday of carrying out an “administrative coup d’état” because she had heard he was preparing a number of key appointments in the police and army just days ahead of the vote.
“When you want to counter the results of an election by nominating your people to jobs, and when that stops [the government] from being able to carry out policies which the French people have asked for... I call that an administrative coup d’état."
“I hope it is only rumour,” she added.

succession characters as colors
now that I've graduated college and I have time I wanted to apply some color theory to the baby girls and silly little guys of HBO's Succession before the finale sends me to a mental institution :)
KENDALL ROY: BLUE
Tumblr media
represents: melancholia, water, transparency, isolation
All the sad music girlies are always singing about being painted/colored blue and I'm convinced they're specifically talking about Kendall Roy. This little girl has such deep sadness in his eyes, he reminds me of a wet dog.
Speaking of wet this man is always near or in water. Water has obviously been an important recurring narrative setting for Kendall ever since the incident with the waiter's drowning, so whenever Kendall is shown near water we are reminded of his inner turmoil.
The color blue's association with water also carries themes of reflectivity and clarity. In his relationships, all Kendall wants is to be seen, known, and truly understood (i.e. the Naomi watch fiasco).
Kendall is often framed by vast expanses of blue, typically in the form of the sky or water. This visually evokes a lonely ship isolated at sea, representing his tendency to push others away and retreat into himself.
SHIV ROY: RED
Tumblr media
represents: rage, hunger, initiative
As we saw in 4x02 during the final confrontation with Logan, Shiv is the Roy sibling who gets angry (and I love her for it). Being the only girl in the family meant she was always left out of the family business, leading to a lot of anger and frustration.
Logan's nickname for Shiv is "Pinky." The color pink is a lighter version of red and is strongly tied to femininity, reflecting how Shiv's strengths and capabilities have been diluted and downplayed by her father.
Red is an intense color, often associated with strong emotions like lust, rage, hunger, and ambition. Shiv wants to be CEO so badly, and we see her struggle and sacrifice for it even more than her brothers do, likely because she was never told before season 2 that she even had a chance.
Shiv's hair is also red lol.
ROMAN ROY: YELLOW
Tumblr media
represents: mania, frivolity, naïveté, cowardice
There are lots of things wrong with Roman Roy. It is heavily implied that Roman was abused by Logan as a child, possibly the only one of his siblings to suffer physical abuse. This has left him stuck in his childhood in many ways, still hanging onto the idea of familial love. Yellow is commonly assigned to children.
To be "yellow-bellied" is to be cowardly, and Roman often backs down during confrontations with his father, like during the board vote in season 1.
Roman's comical nature also relates to the color yellow, which is seen as jovial and vibrant.
CONNOR ROY: GREY
Tumblr media
represents: neutrality, somberness, age
Famously in the Switzerland camp with Bella Swan, Connor prefers to stay out of the conflicts between his younger siblings. The color grey itself is a neutral, just a mix of black and white, often carrying ideas of emptiness and somberness that align with Connor's resolution to give up trying to win the love of his family.
Connor is excluded from the trio of primary colors, his siblings. He has less vibrancy and ambition than them (except for the presidency lol) but he's never taken an interest in Waystar. He's also much older than the other Roy kids, the offspring of an earlier marriage, marked by his completely greyed hair. This visually separates him and further evokes the role of father he's taken on in the younger kids' lives.
LOGAN ROY: BLACK
Tumblr media
represents: wealth, dominance, severity
Before the invention of synthetic dyes, black clothing was among the most expensive to produce. Nowadays, black is the color of "stealth wealth," reflecting the severity of corporate America and the desire to appear sophisticated and classic.
In color theory, the combination of the three primary colors (represented by Kendall, Roman, and Shiv) in equal proportions creates black. This represents how each of the kids have adopted different aspects of his personality.
The darkness and harshness of the color black perfectly captures Logan's energy. He often sucks the life out of every room he's in like a black hole, consuming the people in his life with his pessimism and capitalistic priorities.
TOM WAMBSGANS: GREEN
Tumblr media
represents: lack of experience, greed, envy
Babygirl Tom Wambsgans craves money and status, commonly associated with the color green, but he comes from more humble beginnings than every other character. Shiv and other members of the family often remind him of this, making "farm boy" related jokes, associating him with the dirtier, earthier parts of life rather than sophisticated corporate New York.
Additionally, calling someone "green" means they're a newbie, a label that applies to both Tom and Greg.
GREGORY HIRSCH: NEON GREEN
(pretend it's a different green pls)
Tumblr media
represents: artificiality, childishness, attention-whore tendencies
Greg is very closely linked to Tom, but he's far more transparent in his desire to climb the social ladder. Personally, neon green is offensive to my eyes, which I thought was in line with Greg's characterization within the show and how he's perceived by everyone else.
Greg is also the youngest and least-experienced character, while also being physically largest, making him stick out like a giant sore thumb.

Why The Heather Theory doesn't make sense
So, I was thinking of doing a series where I explain a certain popular theory in shows and movies and why the theory itself is flawed and doesn't make any sense. There are a few that I want to talk about. In this post, I wanna talk about a theory in Total Drama Island, which is called The Heather Theory. The theory goes that producers and Chris McLean are rigging the challenges so that Heather can stay in the game much longer since she gives them ratings.
There are many challenges where it felt most controlled by the producers and Chris McLean. However, if Heather or her team wins invincibility, that doesn't mean that Heather has this plot armour, and this appears to only happen in Total Drama Island. There was a 3 in a row episode, where Screaming Gophers lost challenges, but when it came to whose getting voted out. Heather doesn't get eliminated even though everybody (except Lindsay) hates her, but she doesn't cause them to lose the challenge. Izzy caused them the game in Up The Creek, Cody is heavily injured and hasn't done much, and Beth cursed them.
I'm not a fan of people saying that how it doesn't make sense why characters like Leshawna would vote for characters like Beth and Cody, whom she has no problem but keeps Heather around. But you gotta understand that even though the characters came in to possibly be make friends and even love. Their goal is still to win and get the money. So, when you find out that someone from your team cursed the team and the reason why you keep losing, you see them as a threat to the game. Heather made a point where she says how they aren't here to make friends but to win because while some characters stay friends and even couples are still together. The rest have become enemies or aren't close, and some couples aren't together anymore.
Heather has caused a lot of eliminations in the island, but if you look closely at the elimination themselves, the majority of them wasn't because of Heather being the mastermind. Eva was the first person that Heather made sure to vote out since she was the killer bass' strongest player. Heather convinced Beth, Lindsay, Izzy, and Owen to vote Justin out. Why Justin? I'm not too sure, but it also shows the hypocrisy on why people complained that Leshawna or Gwen doesn't vote Heather out. Even though Heather doesn't do the same. She broke Trent and Gwen up because, according to her, relationships mean alliances, and her alliance should be the only one on the island and she caused Duncan's elimination because Duncan has a complicated relationship with women.
For Lindsay, she made her build their bikes and told Lindsay to go ahead of her but only to clear the path for her so Heather could cross first and get invincibility. Even though Lindsay does come second and Owen and Duncan don't. Duncan and Owen are completely wiped out, so they don't really cross the line, but Lindsay does, which means that she's the last person. Chris says whoever crosses the line last is eliminated, and Lindsay is that person. But because of this, Heather betrays Lindsay and caused her elimination.
There are certain episodes that people go to when they explain that Heather should've been voted off and they are Not Quite Famous, Paintball Deer Hunter, If You Can't Take The Heat, Search and Do Not Destroy and Camp Hapture. Those are the episodes that I think people have said that Heather should've been voted off, but the producers and Chris McLean are either rigging or keeping her in because she's good for ratings. But if you go and rewatch those episodes, it makes sense why she wasn't voted off early.
Let's start with the Not Quite Famous, I was watching a video of someone analysing Heather, and they said that Heather hates losing, so it doesn't make sense why she would read out Gwen's Diary implying that she was trying to make her team loose in order to vote off, Justin. But here's the thing, Screaming Gophers were winning by a landslide. They had more points than the killer bass and the only talent that was going to perform. Her violin ended up getting broken. She read out Gwen's Diary before Harold swooped in save the day. But that's fine because Heather got a trick up sleeve.
In the confessional, Heather needs four votes against Justin. She has already manipulated Lindsay and Beth, who she's already in alliance with her. Izzy is kinda in the alliance, but it seems that Izzy can see the potential and the threat that Justin has since she acts off around him in Total Drama Drama Drama Drama Drama Island special. It appears that she bribed Owen with cake because he love for food is much stronger but can also be because of Izzy if you believe the theory about Izzy isn't crazy.
Even if Heather has convinced 4 people to vote off Justin with her, it's still 5 v 5 votes, meaning that somebody in Screaming Gophers voted for somebody else. We know that Leshawna, Gwen, and Trent would definitely vote off Heather because of what she did. But Cody and Justin are the only ones. We are 100% sure because Cody doesn't seem that angry at Heather reading Gwen's Diary because he thought she was talking about him until she mentions the guy playing guitar. So it's most likely that he voted off Trent since, at the time, Cody probably thought he had a shot with Gwen if Trent was out of the picture.
In Paintball Deer Hunter, Heather is bossing her alliances around Beth, who is in her alliance and is sick and tired of Heather’s bossiness. Beth stands up to Heather and quits. Heather, Beth, and later on Leshawna have this paintball fight. While it was great for ratings, the screaming Gophers end up losing the challenge. So, Heather is now on every screaming Gophers nerve and them losing the challenge.
You think this would be the perfect time to vote her off, but instead, it's Cody. But why? Why is Cody voted off? According to Owen, Cody isn't that useful for the team, and to be honest, he kinda has a point. The screaming Gophers has won 4 challenges, and in most of them, Cody has helped 2 times. When he jumped off the cliff and he helped them with dodgeball. Cody didn't compete his phobia challenge , and he's pretty much under the radar. Heather is manipulative and bossy, but she's useful to them, she and the team can both agree that they want to win. Cody's only focus is Gwen , and later, he gets mauled by a bear. So, I can see why Leshawna and Owen choose to vote Cody off.
In, If You Can't Take The Heat, this is one of the most Drama focused episodes because the Gophers aren't on good terms with one another. The teams have to cook a meal and dessert. For the screaming Gophers, Heather votes herself as head chef, and their meal is going to be Hawaiian theme. Throughout the challenge, Heather is bossing everyone. She's making Owen do errands, and she and leshawna are clashing each other more. When helping Lindsay and Gwen with the dessert, Heather’s eyebrows are burnt off, and this is the first time where Heather is pissed off. Leshawna having enough of her locks her in the freezer.
But, here's the thing, Heather isn't the reason why they lose the challenge. Owen eats the ribs because that was a good idea, Lindsay put too much flammable in the cake, and Beth is the reason why they were losing previous challenges because of a curse. I was watching a YouTuber named Bhultra, and he brought up how Beth's curse is real but not in a way that Chris is making it out to be. Beth has good fortune on her, she stands up to Heather, she gets a hot boyfriend and she even wins Total Drama Action. I see it as Beth getting good fortune while her team is dealing with the bad curse. That's why they keep losing the challenge all because Beth decides to stand up to Heather.
The Screaming Gophers are a dysfunctional team, but they have the strongest players like Heather, Gwen, Leshawna, Owen, and even Lindsay. However, there appears to be 3 different cliques on that team, and they work well as a team. Most of the time, when they don't work well together, it is because of someone throwing the challenge, and that's not Heather’s thing. Heather can sniff out the person who is throwing the challenge like she does in Total Drama Action when Gwen does it and later on, in a world tour with Courtney. They lost the dodgeball challenge because 1) Harold was Killer Bass' wild card, and 2) Noah didn't help them out. Then, later on, they lost the talent show, but I already explained that part. They lose the Boney Island challenge because of Izzy and her big mouth, and they lose the paintball challenge because the gopher girls turn against each other.
Later on, the team merges, so it's every camper for themselves. Heather wins immunity for the first time in the search and does not destroy the episode. The camper are given a hint on where their key is to open up the chests. However, this episode is one of those drama focused. Gwen and Trent get closer that Gwen even kisses Trent, indicating that she likes him as he likes her. Heather sees this, and in the confessional, Heather explains how dating means alliance and her alliance should be the only alliance on the island. So, Heather decides that she needs to break them up for a time being.
This is one of the most evil things that Heather has done, and yet, she seemed confident that nothing was going to happen to her, similar to how she acted in the Not Quite Famous episode. Trent believes everything that Heather is saying about Gwen being mean to her and not knowing why and how she talks badly about Trent with the girls. I know that Trent has been in the infirmary like a lot. But, he witnesses Heather reading Gwen's Diary out to the world, and he can tell that Gwen and Heather never liked each other.
When Leshawna is telling everyone what Heather and Trent did and she gets to Geoff. In the confessional, Geoff appears to be more upset with Trent than Heather because despite being on different teams, Geoff knows that Heather isn't a great person, but Trent, on the other hand. So, it seems like every camper was spilt. The campers get their keys and head over back to the campsite. Some of the keys don't open the chest, however Heather’s one does, and she gets an invincibility. This is pretty much dumb luck because they grab the random clues. However, if Chris knows that some keys don't unlock chest than that he knows whose keys work and what is inside the chest, I mean, Geoff's key is in the spectic tank, and he gets cologne. So, Chris knows that Heather has the key to invincibility, but Heather doesn't.
Heather gets invincibility, so the campers have no choice but to vote off Trent because even though Trent is pretty much a victim of Heather’s step to the money. He has been front and centre to her schemes. So, he should've known better to believe her. At this point, I think everybody knows who Heather really is, so when they hear that Heather and Trent kiss. They seem to be more pissed off of Tent because he was on the same team as her, and he witnessed her being a vindictive person.
The next episode where I'm going to discuss is Haute Camp-ture, where Chris heads over to the Play Des Loser. This is where the previous campers that have gone eliminated are staying for the time being until they get to the final 2 and they choose they are rooting for. Chris asks them the question on what they think of the final five, which are Gwen, Duncan, Owen, Leshawna and Heather. Gwen, Duncan and kinda Owen have mixed responses by the campers. Heather has negative with only one positive from Courtney saying that Heather is formidable player but doesn't agree with her Tactics like reading Gwen's Diary. Meanwhile, Leshawna gets all around positive responses by every camper.
Everyone is hanging out, Chris appears and says that they have to eliminate from the final five. This episode is good, but doesn't do well at the end because they kept saying Leshawna resulting her to be eliminated. But when you go back and rewatch the episode, it feels like Chris set this whole thing up because the first people, he asked are Katie and Sadie. Katie and Sadie chose Leshawna because they want to see her more than anyone else even though they keeping Leshawna from getting the money. Chris knew that choosing them as the first choice to eliminate will cause the other campers to say Leshawna's name. Also I know that the parrot saying Leshawna's name shouldn't count but this is the same season, where a panda votes off, DJ in world tour.
This should've been episode where Heather should've been eliminated. Nobody likes her, so that means they want to make sure she doesn't get the money or get further in the game. But that's a thing, nobody likes her so why would they want to see her. The Play des loser is like their sanctuary, so bringing Heather into it earlier will just ruin the mood because they are still cautious of her. So, when she does get eliminated in the Triple Dog Dare episode, where her hair is shaved. She is no longer seen as a threat anymore. She is seen as a laughing stock.
This theory pretty much minimises Heather’s strategy and schemes by saying that she is good for ratings, so they make sure the challenges are in her or her team's favour. But when she's on her own, she gets 3 invincibility wins, and one of them was dumb luck (even though I believe that Chris secretly knew she was going to win).
Heather had never caused her team to lose. Just because they get along with each other doesn't mean they aren't going to eliminate one another. Because let's be honest, how many friendships and relationships are still going strong?!

I did not get the whole fic written in time for halloween but 🫠 here’s a sneak peek at the Cryptid Seekers AU everyone voted for weeks ago!!
Trust Your Instincts
“Come on, Scully. Mothman, a headless ghost, and me. Fuck, marry, or kill. Aaaaaand go! Give me an answer.”
“Mulder, you don’t want me to answer that,” Scully sighed.
The ginger hadn’t bothered to look up from her reading. Delicate fingers smoothed the cream colored cloth she had laid out on the stump, her mismatched rings glinting under the moonlight. Walter wasn’t sure what they symbolized. The etchings had been worn down to unintelligible gibberish and the humanoid figures rubbed to skeletal disfigurement. He supposed they were connected to her magicks—although he wasn’t certain she actually practiced any. Her interest seemed to stem from fascination rather than belief. Metal clinked as Scully’s fingers dug inside the small, leather drawstring pouch. She produced a bronze tile without looking and set it on the cloth. It held an image of a vertical line with a point on the side. A thorn. The rune thurisaz. Scully wasn’t performing a true reading, only plucking random tiles to admire their beauty, but it struck him as odd that this had been the third time she pulled the rune of Thor and his weapon Mjölnir. A warning of defense and destruction. Judging by the stern set of her lips, Scully had noticed the repeated coincidence, too.
“Of course I want you to answer. Why else would I ask?” Mulder scoffed. He tossed a handful of leaves into the fire and leaned back. He stretched out his long, lean body beside the campfire, putting himself on display (seemingly for himself, since Scully still had yet to look at him) and tossed his head back to gaze at her with a playful grin. “Why don’t you want to answer? Scared to tell me something?”
Another rune placed on the cloth. A crimson painted nail traced an F with broken limbs. Ansuz. A reminder to wait and listen. She had pulled that one before as well.
“I don’t want to answer because I don’t believe your ego is strong enough to handle losing a silly children’s game,” Scully said with a dismissive wave.
Mulder’s jaw dropped. “I would lose?”
A tiny smile began to curl the corners of his lips. Skinner quickly willed it away with a sniff and rubbed the back of his hand across his mouth. The sound caught Mulder’s attention. Skinner dropped his gaze back to the camera in his hand and adjusted his baseball cap, concealing his face in shadows as he turned the gutted equipment in his wide palms. He had found it on their hike shortly after they first arrived and set up camp. It was a newer model—and a rather pricey one at that. The Nikon brand wasn’t cheap to begin with and this one in particular had to have belonged to a professional. Which made it all the more strange that it had been left behind. The shell had been severely damaged and the lense shattered, two possible reasons as to why it was abandoned, but they hadn’t bothered to retrieve the SD card. Walter had found that SD cards were typically more important than cameras. The cards could be replaced far more easily, but not the memories held within them.
“And what’s your opinion, Skinner?”
He peered at Mulder from under the rim of his cap. Looking at the brunette while he lay stretched out by the campfire, rumpled in his worn out jeans and tan hunting jacket that certainly had never been used in a hunt (aside from a Sasquatch hunt, that is), Skinner knew what his opinion would be. If he were ten years younger and shameless he would’ve told Mulder just how badly he wanted to fuck him. Hold him. Adore him. Instead, Skinner was in his forties, hanging around two gorgeous people in their thirties, and desperately hiding his balding head with baseball caps and beanies and praying any crows feet they noticed appeared to them as laugh lines. He didn’t dare dream of the impossible. Their lips against his. Their bodies in his arms. Returning his feelings tenfold.
“My opinion is that you never outgrew your prepubescent state,” Skinner replied.
Scully snorted. Mulder shot her a disgruntled scowl. She curled her black lips in on themselves, swallowing her own smile, and pointedly kept her blue eyes trained on the runes. Hazel eyes studied her for a few moments before Mulder huffed and turned back to the fire.
“You guys are boring. Why do I even attend these trips if all you two do is ignore me,” Mulder grumbled.
“Ask me something less stupid and I might be willing to talk,” Skinner shot back.
Scully choked on another laugh.
Mulder flipped him off—and immediately took it back when Skinner sent him a stern glare.
“I’m, uh, gonna go get the spirit box and play with that for awhile,” Mulder said, clearing his throat.

“Lord Weardale, ladies and gentlemen, we have come to address you here today, and to take leave of each other at the end of a long fight. In a sense I may look back upon very little short of half a century, because, when the question first came to be debated I was at Oxford, and taking a rather active part in the organization of women's education at Oxford. It was a subject which them frequently came up. We all had to consider it, and, at that time, there was a great difference between Oxford and Cambridge. Cambridge, on the whole, as you know, led the suffrage cause; Oxford, on the whole, with some exceptions, was on the other side. Then for a long time, as we remember, it was an academic question, coming up in Parliament again and again, but never really having any actuality. Then the last active phase seems to me to have lasted about ten years.
It was when I came back from America in 1908 that this League was started, and that we had those striking first meetings which enabled us to appeal with such great success as we did to the country. For ten years we have kept up the fight, and what might have happened if the war, the great convulsion in which we stand, had gone by without a decision in the matter, I do not think can be quite foretold. But the decision of the Speaker's Conference, carried, as Lord Weardale said, by a small majority, made the thing at once actual; and then there was the wave of gratitude towards the women of the country for the work which they had done, which was very natural, very natural indeed. It might, at a time less fraught with excitement and intensity of feeling, have been met and countered by argument, but at the present time it was, as we all know, too strong to resist.
At the same time a considerable fight was really put up. (Hear hear.) In the House of Lords—I may say that having been entrusted with the chairmanship of the Executive I studied that debate certain things struck me very much, and struck me freshly and newly during the course of that debate. Lord Seiborne, in the course of his remarkable speech, which, I think, did more thany anything else to carry the debate in the House of Lords, Lord Seiborne admitted in the strongest possible way that women were deeply divided on this question. He said that. We had a singular proof of it on the very eve of the House of Lords debate. The suffragists sent a memorial to the House of Lords, signed by between 400 and 500 persons engaged in war work. Some of our friends in the House of Lords sent it to us. We felt it necessary to produce a counter move.
In a very few days, during the Christmas holidays, when the office, except for the devotion of Miss Garland, and one or two of her helpers, was practically closed, we sent out a certain number of letters to friends and Branches, and so forth, and within a fortnight, not four or five hundred, but two thousand women engaged in the war work of this country had sent in their names to the office. (Applause.) They were names of the greatest significance. They were the names of women doing some of the most important war work of the country, as well as of the rank and file. There were V.A.D's, nurses and helpers in the camps and cantonments, who, as we know, are indispensable to the great host.
When I showed this list to Lord Lansdowne and Lord Bryce, they both felt that it was a very remarkable thing, and they both said—and I am afraid I agree with them—that if this had been done some time before, it might have made some substantial difference to the whole result. Yes, women were deeply divided, and we were perfectly right to fight the great fight on behalf of those hundreds and thousands of women throughout the country who would have preferred not to take upon themselves the great responsibility of the vote. But now the great responsibility is there, and, as Lady Jersey so eloquently said, we have to go forward in a different scene and under a different sky. But, above all, we have got to hold over us a flag of womanly stead-fastness, womanly help, womanly service to our country, and not regretting her (applause.)”
From “Mrs. Humphry Ward Led Last Stand in England” from The Woman Patriot, June 1, 1918.
A reprint of Mrs. Mary Augusta Ward’s speech at the last meeting of the Women’s National Anti-Suffrage League. Anti-suffragettes outside of the U.S. aren’t really discussed on my blog because I study American history, but the anti-suffrage (and suffrage) movement in the U.K. was closely watched by Americans on both sides of the question. The American antis notably view the loss in Britain as one that happened because of lobbying, and then late action on the part of British antis.

Can i get an order of 🔮 + jessie at her most unhinged please ( if not, her regular amounts of unhinged are also fun) :3c (--direwombat)
GLADLY actually one i can answer right away. chapter 16 jessie is doing Great and she does, in fact, get an axe. warnings for violence.
“Don’t think they’re actually soldiers,” Jestiny whispered to her, darting tawny eyes towards the bodies hovering around the dancing orange light of a campfire. Their faces were bare of signature red balaclavas, and the sling crossing over the man at the heart of the crowd’s chest appeared to attach to a guitar rather than a rifle. “Look like civilians.”
“Still look like culty fucks,” Jess responded, subtly pointing towards the familiar design of the metal cross staked into the ground and marking their camp. Its paint flaked and peeled under the harsh sunlight, just like the one she remembered —
Not thinking about that, Jessie.
“My vote would be to kill the fuckers anyways. Peggies are peggies,” Jess added, her eyes narrowing towards the group. “But I’ll let you make the call, since you’re the one with a target on your back with Jacob right now,” she offered with a shrug. “More bodies we leave lying around, more likely he is to put you together you didn’t actually die and try hunting you down again.”
Jessie swallowed, trying to think. The corners of her vision tinged crimson with guttural fear at the thought of being captured by the man again — her memories of what actually happened in her presence were hazy, but jostled her with a low vibration of panic nonetheless, followed by disgust churning in her stomach. The smell.
But she’d learned her lesson since the Henbane, she was more than happy to keep up the rumor that she had died in the pile of bodies left in the decay of the Grand View, carefully avoiding any public appearances that might spread word of her survival.
Of course, if she eliminated the full party it wouldn’t be an issue, she thought with a prickle of guilt crawling down her neck as she viewed their happily smiling faces with her hand readied at the handle of the throwing axe holstered at her side — a keepsake looted from the lumber mill, and a more than adequate replacement for the pocket knife she’d lost when a quieter, messier kill was called for.
But it may not be called for now, she lectured herself, watching as the man with the guitar propped the instrument in his lap and positioned his fingers on it, strumming to produce a surprisingly familiar chord. He beamed at his companions as he began tapping his foot to the rhythm, opening his mouth in preparation to sing along to the tune and motioning for the rest of the group to join.
“Come brothers and come sisters, come weary and come strong! Come meet the man who —”
The weight of the axe left her hand with a low whoosh as it soared through the air, its blade finally landing to bury inside the singer’s skull with a wet thwack.
And the delicate, rustling hush of the attack was broken by a piercing scream ringing through the air from the woman beside him, as he folded forward to land with his head at the woman’s feet.

Halfway through January, my phone got smashed. Not to mention how I celebrated New Year's Eve with COVID-related symptoms (eventually, testing positive). Not how I wanted my year to start off lol 🙃
Tumblr media
My impulsiveness made me join Graphika Online. If I remember it correctly, I registered just the day before the event as it just popped in my feed. Nonetheless, glad to be part of this event (with great set of speakers, of course!)
Tumblr media
Finally, I was able to visit the Mind Museum although it's just an hour away from where I'm staying hahahaha. We bought tickets for half of its price. I've always wanted to visit this since I was a student as I've seen it on TV programs being featured multiple times. Too bad, it's not that good as what I'm expecting, or at least from what it was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was one of my proudest moments as we were able to pull this off given our small team. Thanks to Atty. Valdez and YVFL Pasig for this opportunity, and most importantly, to the people behind this initiative who worked tirelessly from morning 'til night. Also thank you to Therese for riding in on my plan hahahaha. Look how our plan on just bringing placards turned into volunteering on the event hehehe.
Tumblr media
#TUMINDIG 🌸
From Pasig, Quezon City, Makati, Taguig, Pasay, to Bulacan and Laguna, lagi't laging titindig. Who would've thought that I'd be active in joining rallies and pink related activities.
And to those peeps whom I share the same aspirations, salamat sa pagtindig!
Tumblr media
Joined Earth Hour Virtual Run. With weeks of preparation, I was able to run non-stop at 10.10km in an hour and 13 minutes—my PR so far.
Tumblr media
And since I'm not contented with just running, I looked for another sport to learn. Glad I was able to meet these people. Thanks to Coach Emman, of course, for the training hehehe.
Tumblr media
Casted my first ever vote. 🌸
Tumblr media
Reading the news about VNL going to Quezon City, we made sure not to miss this event, and so we watched them live at Smart Araneta Coliseum. Unfortunately, we weren't able to secure a closer seat to the court, but the view from above wasn't that bad too.
Tumblr media
Another proud moment this year was when I got to produce a short film once again. It was just a two-man production (hence, the prod name) and I was really amazed with how we pulled it off. Of course, thanks to Tita Blenda, our very enthusiastic and easy-to-direct actress. Very satisfied with our output given the 2-week production period.
Tumblr media
Some of my colleagues whom I first met during company anniversary! Working from home for months/years, and I only got to see them twice this year. #SusukaHindiSusuko Here's to more face-to-face events! 🥂
Tumblr media
Despite our busy schedules, we were able to take a camping vacation in Zambales. It felt good disconnecting.
Tumblr media
And my mom, whom I didn't see for almost three years, went home, so I took the chance to treat her with my sister during Christmas season. 💸💸

Happy 2023!

From Oliver's official website
The following is a recent Q&A from my Facebook and Twitter pages.
Q: From Jack Forbes Oliver, the Yellow Shirts in Thailand want to displace the current Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, and her Administration, with an unelected "People's Council" and have gone to great lengths to disrupt elections and disrupt commerce in Bangkok to achieve their goals. They demand "reforms" pertaining to elections procedures and perceived corruption, but have little to show for what reforms they wish and what corruption they suspect. The military is, so far, taking a "hands off" approach but has not ruled out a coup. Yingluck is making her case for democracy, asking the protestors to vote and to integrate into the Thai political system to resolve political differences. There seems to be no end in sight and experts believe that civil war is possible for the near future. What is your take on all of this?
Oliver: My take is as an outsider. I’ve traveled many times to the country and admire their collective sense of harmony in all things. Makes this recent civil strife almost incomprehensible to me. I’m hardly knowledgeable about the complex interior politics of the country, but my feeling is generally ‘the majority rules’—in other words, live with it. As bad as Thaksin may have been and may be, I would imagine time has, and will, softened his impact. Things change. Do not fracture this beautiful country.
Q: From Ben Bracken It seems everyone successful in film has a connection to some rich people or a rich dad in the film business that gets them in the door. I have neither. I have no money, just the ambition to succeed everyday in a world where 20% of American males ages 25-54 are unemployed. I'm not lazy and will never collect unemployment, so I work everyday at a shit restaurant for $4.95 an hour plus tips (that you never get anyway) and work harder than anyone you've ever met. I have self taught myself to be a DP, an actor, and barely afforded to put myself in school for screenwriting. I don't know anyone famous or anyone's rich uncle to help me get my foot in the door. So, my question to you, Mr. Stone, is a simple one. Would you please hire me? I don't care if it's shoveling the elephants shit on the set of Alexander or getting you coffee. I will still be the hardest worker you've ever seen. I humbly thank you for even reading this as I know you will probably not respond to my question as I've seen the other questions people way smarter than me have posted about you and your work. Either way you're still one of my heroes. Thanks, Ben Stiller
Oliver: This is a tough question but I’ll try to answer it. Just to keep things clear, I had no strong connections to get me into this business. I wrote my way in, and it took many scripts and much rejection until some of them were read and gradually I was able to find more and more work.
That said, when I actually penetrated it as a writer and then moved, after a few setbacks, onto being a director. I found that many young people and outsiders were vying for jobs as assistants and interns, but that the union rules were pretty strict on this matter, and that the best way in was through the assistant directors’ department. After the union regulations were fulfilled, the producer, production managers, and assistant director would interview new people for roles as assistants and interns. Generally speaking the job is a tough one—long hours—and often takes place far off the set around the trailer camps and various messengering jobs. Often people would be frustrated that they didn’t get enough time inside or close to the set (On the other hand, being inside the set all the time can be—believe me—quite boring and I think many people would be disappointed.).
Perhaps the best way to approach this is to work on low budget films as a production assistant, where one probably gets a lot closer to the action. I worked on a soft porno back in the early 70s in NYC hauling heavy dollies up and down staircases in New York City.
When, and if, we do start up a film, we crew up like a pirate ship or whaling expedition for the journey. At that time the producer/production manager/assistant director make their choices as to whom they want to work with. Sometimes I weigh in.
Q: Ben Norbeetz Why in many of your films do you repeat certain phrases, ideas and metaphors. "Kiss the snake with no hesitation" was in the doors and alexander and a motif in Natural Born Killers, your close up shots on a single eye was apart of both any given sunday and the doors, the "world is yours" is in scarface and alexander. is there something all of your works mean to say?
Oliver: Each motif is different and probably for a different reason. I wasn’t aware of the similarities until you brought them up, but certainly, I think the idea of the snake in “Doors,” “Alexander,” and “Natural Born Killers” represents a sensitivity to the issue of fear. That by going through the fear, one finds a courage that was not available before. Jim Morrison was writing about the snake long before we made the film. And of course the analogies of snakes and dragons appear again and again in mythology. Although I walked among many rattle snakes in “Natural Born Killers” and lived through my share of snakes in Vietnam, I’m still not comfortable around them.
As to eyes, I’ve been shooting close ups of eyes for so many years I don’t know which exact mention you have in mind. I think it’s a striking visual. The eye is the window of the soul and often speaks an inner truth to us that is beyond the word. And people’s eyes in general, if you look closely at them, reveal much. Movie stars often have blue eyes, because I think they give more access than brown/black eyes.
As to the “World is yours,” well, that’s a subjective frame of mind, and it can well be true if you believe it.
Q: Patrick Dailey Please give us some details about the new "Alexander : The Ultimate Cut" blu-ray/DVD. Will it have new features, new transfer, etc. Thanks!
Oliver: I can tell you the new “Alexander” is 8 minutes shorter and has some structural changes of significance. I think it’s cleaned up. It’s a real final to me. In the 2007 version I was trying to get out all the stuff that I wasn’t able to get out in 2004. And then I was able to look at the 2007 version in various film festivals around the world (San Sebastian, Taormina, and New York.) After seeing it in public like that, I was able to go back and see some of the things that I had added were not necessary—as well as remove some of the complexity that still existed. That’s why I trimmed it. I’m very happy with this new version and it’s definitely a final one. There is no new transfer—not necessary because everything was beautifully transferred the first time.
Q: Attila Peter Of all the empires which one would you prefer?
Oliver: Very good question. I think as a Roman it would’ve been very dangerous to stay alive. There seems to have been a poison in the air, and in the capital too many Romans were killing each other. I think in some ways the British Empire must have been perhaps one of the best, at least if you were an Englishman! But not a native. The idea of going to Eton or Oxford, joining the military, or being a businessman when most people around you are ethnocentric, you think of yourself as superior. It’s an amazing illusion—but produced some amazing results.
We’re now living in the American Empire. So you make up your own mind. Many are happy with it and comfortable. Depends on your consciousness of our history. If interested see “Untold History.”
As to the best Empire, I’m not sure, but I think the Mongol Empire of the 13th/14th centuries makes a lot of sense. Although bloody (who wasn’t at that time), they had an amazing degree of intelligence. As tribal nomads and outsiders, they brought to the sense of empire a newness and ability to see beyond parochial concerns. And because they were a small tribe they were concerned about their universality. They truly brought a modern order to feudalism and tribalism, and their influence is still strongly felt today in the East.
I also deeply respect Alexander’s Empire because of his respect for local laws and customs—as did the Mongols—and the fact that he did not loot and rape the place, as the English and Americans, in their benign way, did. So I vote for the Mongols.
Q: Matthew McKenna Is there a person or persons who have been a major influence on your life?
Oliver: Huge question. We can talk in the personal sphere or artistic sphere, but let’s say we’re talking of the American political sphere. I’d say Roosevelt and JFK. And in a negative way Reagan, LBJ, Nixon, Bush (father), Bush (son), Truman, and Eisenhower. Without a doubt the U.S. has had its share of awful Presidents who’ve really destroyed what this thing could’ve been after WW2. Please see “Untold History” to understand my feelings. These are people who have directly influenced our life in a very powerful way.
Q: Mary F. Nugent On behalf of WH Wisecarver: I was on the Capital Hill in 1991 when JFK was released. It was surprising to me the controversy and re-evaluations it provoked amongst my younger peers. In lieu of your recent post on the prohibition of being able to do your MLK movie and the rehash of contrived political thrillers in today’s films, do you see a time when real thought provoking cutting edge films can be made in Hollywood again?
Oliver: You’re asking a bit of a rhetorical question. Films don’t necessarily have to be cutting edge to be thought provoking. For example, “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” (2011) was a beautiful film about older people that really had a point. It wasn’t cutting edge in the sense of what people normally think, but who cares as long as it move you and provokes your feelings and thoughts. I said earlier on another post I really was struck by “All is Lost,” I think that “Blue Jasmine” in its way make you think about people that I knew in New York. It’s a great character study. I think good movies are coming along all the time from abroad, from here, and I wouldn’t dismiss the industry for that. We filmmakers are always struggling to get something fresh and different done. Few of us succeed. But we try.
I think that the concentration on money, as with the rest of the culture, has hollowed out the business. I know that studios are just not developing dramas unless you’re a top of the line director, and they rarely do that without making you compromise. It’s hard to get things great things made in that way. If the directors stick to their guns and develop stuff they really believe in, I think it’s possible to get films made. I know that we have many more markets available to us, as well as different forms of financing, but sometimes you have to assume you’re not going to make much money making a film, and you’re going to live with whatever distribution you can get. So I think it’s a very harsh playing field—but good stuff does get turned out because people are ‘burning’ to tell a story. I sometimes feel we’re the like that medieval acting troupe in Bergman’s “Seventh Seal.”
Q: Nathan Paul Oliver as a filmmaker myself I come across a predicament often behind the camera. Do you ever sacrifice continuity of a shot for your vision?
Oliver: Yes, I often do. The logic of the technician is often in conflict with the heart. Especially as the sun is going down and fast decisions have to be made. Best to make those decisions early in the day.
But as you can see from my editing, it’s sometimes discontinuous, and probably far more interesting because of it.
Q: Matt Higgins How is it that you were able to turn your horrific experience of being a combat soldier in Vietnam into something productive- producing great films that brought Vietnam into the focus of the American mainstream, instead of becoming one of the many casualties of PTSD?
Oliver: Well, I probably did have my share of PTSD, but I didn’t know it at the time because it wasn’t called by that name. I think that terminology started in the late 70s (not sure). I think the fact that I met a good woman who helped me reintegrate, and I did gradually join back into a film school at NYU and was inspired. I think willpower played a role in it. There was much rejection. Remember, it took 10 years (‘76–‘86) from when I wrote “Platoon” to when it was actually filmed, as well as 10 years (‘79–‘89) for “Born on the Fourth of July.”
This is the point of the artistic journey isn’t it? To take the ordinary and the oppression that’s sometimes served up to us, and make of it something celebratory.

Cape Coral is Known as a Water Wonderland
Did you know that Cape Coral is known as the Water Wonderland? The city boasts around 400 miles of canals, situated between the Caloosahatchee River and the Matlacha Pass, making it a waterfront property paradise. Surprisingly, Cape Coral has more miles of navigable waterways than Venice, Italy! Despite being a beautiful location, Cape Coral also has a very low unemployment rate, which is currently under four percent. The job market is thriving, with job growth predicted to be roughly 44 percent over the next decade. Most jobs available are in education, healthcare, and construction, contributing to steady population growth. I like Cape Coral homes, too, because of the comfort they provide. A woman from Cape Coral is arrested for cocaine trafficking.
Due to numerous traffic violations committed while driving along the 700 block of Burnt Store Road North on July 1, the Cape Coral Police Department detained a female driver in Cape Coral. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver, Kirenia Torres, had a suspended license, and her vehicle was subsequently towed. In the course of their investigation, officers uncovered a backpack that contained a substantial quantity of drugs that tested positive for cocaine. As a result, Torres was charged with two offenses: driving with a suspended license and trafficking cocaine. She was subsequently taken into custody and placed in Lee County Jail before being released at a later time. Read more.
