Share ko lang din pala my sudden realization just now kasi parang gradually nagbabago na nga talaga yung outlook ko in life hahahaha feel ko nasa peak quarter-life crisis na ko promise but unlike before na medyo seeping pa inside me yung idea na am now 25, parang ngayon tinatanggap ko na siya. Iba na yung feeling, meron ng certainty on things. Still lost, pero meron ng self-authority this time. Wala lang binilang ko lang yung months since I turned 25. So yep, half way na tayong nabubuhay as bente-singko.

Siguro one reason din why I love outdoor activities like attending gym group classes, hiking, badminton queueing, etc., is that I get to meet new peeps. Wala lang, ang fulfilling lang to consume stories from people whom u just met. Hearing their stories and sharing some common interests. It gives you that sense of humility + expands your perspective in life.
I used to embody 'privacy is power,' but now I think I wanted to expand my circle and build connections. The idea of individualism is firmly instilled among us that it almost feels lonely to live a life.
Hope to share more stories with some of you soon—not just virtually hehe.

I once had a conversation with a fellow hiker re why I do mountain climbing since all of my climbs are day hikes. I could have said the same cliché answer about nature and relaxation, but the trees would have witnessed my dishonesty.
I cannot recall when did my liking for it start or which among the mountains I have climbed did I realize that I enjoy doing it. I just know that I can, so I did…and I want more. I merely wanted to test my endurance, but I felt challenged. I too, am curious how extreme can I go further.
As I got exposed to variety of trails, it's becoming more apparent which part of hiking do I like, and what type of trails I'll never get tired of. These biases have amplified my fascination on mountain climbing while following what best suits me. I thank the rocks for it. I guess even the stillest things have their own gestures of changing one's perspective. I am suddenly reminded that nothing is immovable.
The talk has somewhat gotten me thinking of my main purpose yet triggered a new perception about hiking, particularly day hikes. Sure, each one of these hikers I have momentarily shared my time with has varying reasons why they do what they do…and so do I. But I fear I may have viewed these things superficially.
I only have 4 minor and major climbs, all of which are day hikes. I'm afraid that my inevitable preference of doing hikes in one day made me miss out on a lot of things I could have learned from multi-day adventures. If given a chance, I would love to be wrapped up by forest's embrace more than a day. Perhaps take it slow and gaze at things I have often overlooked. I'm certain there's much more to it than just summits and scenery that I wish to experience.
Nonetheless, I am grateful that I get to do and enjoy these escapades every once in a while. The things I've learned from hikers whom I shared pain, sweat, and complaints are certainly invaluable, albeit day hikes. I think it's high time I focus on the trees instead of the spaces in between.

Mt. Namandiraan Dayhike Ilocos Sur's Highest Peak. 20 kilometers. 14.5 hours.
Iniiwasan ko talaga yung mga limatik infested mountains since wala akong proper apparel/gears to combat them. Surprisingly, safe naman ako from bites hehe.
Kaya siguro it doesn't feel 8/9 to me, or baka ako lang yun hahaha. Well, subjective naman ang difficulty rating.
Andaming talak ng grupong 'to kaya andami ko ring sagap hahaha. Agyamanak!

Mt. Purgatory Dayhike 6 mountains. 26 kilometers. 12 hours.
Basta ang goal, tapusin ang anim na bundok within cut-off time.
Inulan. Nilamig. Nanginig. Umusok ang bibig. Inilaban naman hanggang dulo hehe. Sobrang majestic ng mossy forest, pero mas na-amplify pa lalo nung umulan because of fog and raindrops.
May bumubulong/sumisitsit, ewan ko kung guni-guni lang yun hahahaha
Babalikan.

Also, off topic but somewhat related. Sobrang fed up na rin ako with other people's remark na "wala na ba kayong ibang mabalita?"
To answer that, marami po. It's the medium or algorithm that's prohibiting you to consume other news topics. Remember, your online activities affect your consumption, so it's not up to us if puro celebrities ang nasa feed mo instead of the newsworthy ones.
Just my two cents.
Okay, as someone who's working in media, here's my take on the feud between Carlos Yulo and his mom:
We don't manage the news. We just cover the news.
While we are proud of Yulo's accomplishments and we want to celebrate that, the feud is something that we cannot ignore. That's the unfortunate role of the media. Kahit naman piliin namin na hindi na magsulat about it, it's out. The issue's out. We just cover it, because it's news.
But don't get me wrong as I am not implying to cover everything about them. Still, we should take caution sa pagrereport. We can't just report on everything that may add fuel to the fire. We report what's only necessary.
To be honest, even if we write multiple stories about Yulo's win, if people are steering away from consuming it and leaning more towards their family drama, that's something that we cannot control.
I remember a familiar scene during Tokyo 2020 Olympics but this time, it was an attack on media outlets with their news headline—that we shouldn't write heads negatively because of his defeat, instead we should be proud and be thankful of him representing PH.
Hard to swallow but it's the truth, and no matter how dark and sad it may sound, he was really defeated that time. Sorry, but we really shouldn't opt to create a headline-bait article just to please consumers' emotions. Again, we just cover what's on the table.
Why is it that the burden is on media outlets?
PS. Views and opinions are mine.
