First Drive: 2018 Volvo XC90 T8 Plug-in Hybrid
Journalists who attended auto reveals within the early 2000s the place corporations resembling Brilliance, BYD, Geely, and Changfeng Liebao offered their wares will recall with glee spectacular U.S. I was expecting the T5 engine mated to the eight-pace auto to be sluggish. With an over-cool original soundtrack and some scrumptious visible effects powered by Unreal Engine 4, that is a very smooth VR ad. The new S60 rolling down the line wasn鈥檛 the complete story in the course of the official opening of recent Volvo Vehicles factory outdoors Charleston, South Carolina, as complaints about trade and tariffs practically stole the present. The video covers your complete Explorer model vary however the action footage options our lengthy-term Explorer XLT EcoBoost. Hybrid variations of automobiles give customers a chance to sample an EV from the security of an ordinary car with an extended vary and easy refilling. We had an opportunity to briefly drive Volvo鈥檚 new plug-in hybrid crossover wagon just lately and got here away impressed. Pilot Assist is a daring step in Volvo鈥檚 attempt at getting the the automation finish line first. In our First Test review of the 2016 Volvo XC90, we favored the interior and exterior styling of the crossover, the high quality and luxurious interior, and the lengthy record of security features.
Headroom is not compromised and the inside headliner fits completely without any exposed hardware. Out of curiosity, I seemed up an Audi Q5's inside sound levels from a monitor check and our long-term Ford Explorer. Clean Fleet Report is loaned free test automobiles from automakers to evaluate, typically for per week at a time. The title of this comparo offers the answer; this time we decided to make V8 power a requirement (and although the Volvo gets one for 2005, it wasn't in time for our test). 2018 Volvo XC60 T6 Review: Who Needs A German? We are displaying eight 2019 Volvo XC90 T5 Momentum 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 8A) vehicle(s) out there in the in the Philadelphiaarea. There鈥檚 no questioning its accuracy, however in an SUV with a efficiency bent resembling this, a larger sense of connection would go a great distance. The SRX wasn't what I'd call "lust-inducing." But there's little question that it is a wonderful alternative for these looking for an SUV that is universally succesful.
Seems the T8鈥檚 servicing is not any costlier or difficult than a conventionally powered variant (see sidebar, above) and the battery pack itself is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle. 10,495 as of09/21/2018, based on knowledge from sellers and shopper-driven seller rankings ranging from2.3 to 5 out of 5 stars. The connection to the V90 is apposite as in many ways the V60 appears similar to a V90 that has been shrunk a bit, and some have criticised it for that cause. The explanation behind the silence is revealed whenever you notice the tachometer is pegged a zero, indicating the automobile has shifted into all-electric mode. The cleanly designed instrument panel of this all-new Honda displays a maximum-effectivity of 199.9 mpg when you鈥檙e driving in all-electric mode. Nonetheless, if seating for seven isn't a precedence and you're looking for the "Final Driving Machine," look no further聟the X5 is your ride.
With out driving the M-Class back-to-back against its competitors I can not establish anything actually fallacious with the vehicle. A vehicle working with PKE can be fitted with a number of antennae around the bodywork that detect the key sign. Then, find and write down the car identification quantity or VIN. Scroll all the way down to Active Scripting, then click the radio button for Allow. Customary gear on entry-degree Momentum versions include leather-based-faced upholstery, LED headlights with lively high beam, two-zone climate management with a 鈥楥leanZone鈥?air-filtration system, heated front seats, a powered tailgate and 18-inch alloy wheels. Standard all-wheel drive and practically 9 inches of ground clearance imply the Ascent can roam off the freeway as well as it may possibly imply city streets. With the dynamic torque vectoring, the differential can vary the torque to each wheel as crucial. As much as 50 percent of the drive torque can be transferred to the rear wheels. Thankfully it didn't fly off on the quick drive dwelling, however it wasn't exactly 100% secure both. That automotive felt fast, sharp by way of corners, almost like a sport sedan.

2019 Volvo S60 preview
https://bestcaritems.com/?p=6564&utm_source=SocialAutoPoster&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Tumblr Volvo has a redesigned S60 on its hands, and the small luxury sedan has the distinction of being the first Volvo made here in the United States. Production takes place at a new plant in Charleston, South Carolina, which from 2021 will also be responsible for a redesigned XC90. Volvo didn’t pull any surprises regarding the design, as the new S60 resembles a scaled-down version of the S90, just like the redesigned Volvo V60 (shown below), which also arrives for 2019, resembles a scaled-down V90. Up front is the Thor’s Hammer daytime running light pattern in the headlights, while at the rear the taillights form a C shape. Inside, the S60 uses the same tablet-style touchscreen found in the related XC60 crossover SUV and V60 wagon together with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Meanwhile, the seats are not only cosseting in their shape, but Volvo also offers heating and cooling, active bolsters, and even a massage function. 2019 Volvo V60, Tarragona, Spain, June 2018 Underpinning the car is the SPA modular platform that debuted in the current XC90. The 60 series of models are the smallest to use the platform. The platform features multi-material construction to help maintain strength while shedding weight, and it also integrates numerous sensors to provide information for various electronic driver aids. All S60s are equipped as standard with active safety features including forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian, cyclist and large animal detection. Volvo’s Pilot Assist is optional and can keep the S60 centered in its lane up to 80 mph, and Volvo says it includes better curve control, aided by GPS. There are three core models currently available for 2019. The base option is the T5 FWD, which sports a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that makes 250 horsepower, and comes with front-wheel drive only. Above this is the T6 AWD, which uses a 2.0-liter supercharged and turbocharged inline-4 that makes 316 hp. It comes with all-wheel drive as standard. At the top of the range is the T8 Twin Engine, which pairs the T6 AWD’s engine with an electric motor at the rear axle for a combined 400 hp. 2019 Volvo S60 The S60 is also the first Volvo to introduce the new Polestar Engineered performance label. This model sports the same powertrain as the T8 Twin Engine, but thanks to some enhancements from the Polestar performance brand it has a 415-hp rating. It also has a host of chassis mods. Unfortunately, Volvo is offering just 20 examples for 2019. Full pricing for the 2019 Volvo S60 range is below: 2019 Volvo S60 T5 FWD: $36,7952019 Volvo S60 T6 AWD: $41,2952019 Volvo S60 T8 Twin Engine: $55,3952019 Volvo S60 T8 Polestar Engineered: TBA All prices include a $995 destination charge. Note, the S60 is eligible for the Care by Volvo subscription program. For the S60, a two-year subscription starts at $775 per month, which Volvo says gets you a well-equipped S60 T6 AWD with base Momentum trim. 2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country First Drive: Swedish Fish
While an Arctic chill shut things down in Michigan, we headed to the Arctic Circle for comparative warmth. And while Americans continue to unabatedly love SUVs and crossovers, we were in northern Sweden because, to our great joy, Volvo continues to make wagons. Delicious dichotomies.
We flew to Lulea, Sweden, to get behind the wheel of the 2020 Volvo V60 Cross County, a hiked-up wagon for those who want their daily driver to double as a toy in the wild with all-wheel drive, hill descent control, extra ground clearance, and lots of room for gear and other playthings.
Volvo is on an upswing with a string of beautifully styled vehicles on new architectures that leave the old partnership with Ford far in the rearview mirror. In addition to SUVs or crossovers, the Swedish brand remains committed to cars, including even lower-volume wagons, in the U.S.
American demand for wagons is so low that Volvo dealers don’t stock them in all sizes—you have to order the larger V90 online. But the midsize V60 is in a sweet spot, and dealers will have it and its Cross Country cousin shipped from Torslanda, Sweden, and in stock.
The Cross Country, being more rugged and closer to the almighty crossover, is expected to outsell the regular V60 4:1. Dealers will start taking orders in March for delivery in July. Pricing has not been announced, but expect the rugged wagon to start in the $45,000 range.
Return of the V60 Cross Country
Volvo last offered a V60 Cross Country for the 2018 model year. There was a conventional 2019 V60 but no Cross Country.
So for the return of the V60 Cross Country for 2020, we packed our long johns and fur-rimmed hats and headed to a fairy tale land of ice and snow to test its mettle. Temperatures were in the -17 degree Fahrenheit range just south of the Arctic Circle. Ironically back home in the U.S., Detroit was registering -11, nearby Chicago was -23, and parts of Minnesota registered an eye-popping -48 courtesy of a Polar Vortex that brought frigid air down from Canada.
For northern Sweden, icy temperatures are the norm, which resulted in ice so thick on the Gulf of Bothnia this year that when we attempted to measure it, the depth exceeded the normal 32-inch measuring tool and we were left to guess how much deeper it went. The Gulf, which stretches to neighboring Finland, and other frozen bodies of water served as ice roads and handling courses for our two days of frozen fun with the newest Cross Country.
We had a fleet of T5 AWD models with the turbocharged version of the 2.0-liter engine in all Volvos. It generates 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The U.S. will only get the T5 powertrain with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but we found the power to be more than adequate.
Our T5 was outfitted with Michelin X-Ice North studded tires. Ice caught in the wheels created an imbalance that made it hard to really gauge the vehicle’s on-road manners. But they should not differ much from the V60 wagon that MotorTrend found to be more relaxed than a BMW 3 Series wagon, with little urgency and often seeking more power than the transmission is delivering. It shines in Comfort mode. The 60-series has left behind the old Ford EUCD architecture and has joined the 90-series on Volvo’s global Scalable Product Architecture.
Clear That Snowbank
Much of our evaluation was centered on how well the wagon handles snow and ice. The Cross Country has almost 8.3 inches of ground clearance compared with 5.8 inches on the regular wagon. Some of that comes from bigger wheels (we were on 235/45R19); the rest is from the raised chassis. A track extender allowed Volvo to set the wheels about 1.2 inches wider. The wheelbase remains the same as the regular V60.
The Cross Country has 8 percent softer spring rates to prioritize comfort over rough roads. It has a control-arm front suspension, but where bigger brother V90 Cross Country has rear air suspension, V60 Cross Country gets a transverse composite leaf spring at the rear axle, which kept the cruising comfortable in all conditions. The electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering was tuned to match the elevated chassis and made both control and drifting easy tasks. Although we were on 19-inch wheels, the Cross Country is also available with 18s and 20s in Europe.
All-wheel drive is standard on the Cross Country. No buttons to push; it’s an updated version of the fifth-generation BorgWarner (formerly Haldex) system. The improvements largely reduced weight and cost while making it more fuel efficient.
Reindeer Alert
We were warned of the region’s ample moose and reindeer population—a perfect way to test the vehicle’s large animal mitigation system, which warns of large, often-antlered creatures at the side of the road and automatically brakes if a collision is deemed imminent. Alas, no such sightings occurred on our drive. We had to simulate sudden lane change maneuvers with cones on a frozen sea. The only reindeer was on our plate. In Scandinavia it’s the prevalent protein source and is consumed with a lovely gravy and spoonfuls of lingonberries to juice up the lean meat.
City Safety is the umbrella term for Volvo’s standard collision avoidance systems. Pilot Assist provides steering, braking, and accelerating assistance as part of the adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist systems.
On a 1.2-mile handling track on pure ice, we did laps with traction control engaged to feel the back end try to slide out, only to be forcibly—but not abruptly—pulled back into line again and again and again. Volvo takes its reputation for safety very seriously.
Then we tuned the Swedish nanny off and got to really play. The takeaway: Wagons are an incredibly fun body style to drift. The long back end acts as the tail wanting to wag the dog. But the vehicle is also adept at transitioning from one curve to the next with a little throttle and hands working to resist overcompensating and spinning into the snowbanks lining the course.
An obstacle course built of ice and snow showcased hill descent control, which kicks in automatically when in Off-Road mode to control the wagon down a steep hill while the pedals are foot-free. It’s notable how quiet the Volvo system is. Many competitors have noisy descent control akin to tennis players grunting to telegraph the effort involved. Similarly, the hill start assist is seamless in its ability to stop, hold in place, and continue on up the hill with no action needed by the driver. Snow obstacles twisted the long body of the wagon and left no marks while giant snowbanks created a faux halfpipe and showed how well the tires can keep a heavily tilted vehicle from toppling over.
Just Cross Country
There are no Momentum or Inscription or R-Design trims to choose from—it’s just Cross Country. Our evaluation vehicles were white with a black interior and attractive metallic trim to brighten it up. Volvo has become known for its open-pore woods, but designers also developed an edgier and more modern ambience with the careful use of metals and leathers with pearl stitching. The seats are darn comfortable, too.
A personal gripe: USB ports hidden in the covered console you have to open to access. Given the inability of society to part with devices, new vehicles should offer easily accessible and exposed outlets and a spot to rest the charging phone. Volvo did design slats into the cupholder section to stand up two phones, so Brownie points for that. And infotainment is via the Sensus system with its large screen and often-slow-to-load software.
Many luxury vehicles have a single setting to heat the steering wheel, but the V60 Cross Country has three. Birthed in a cold nation, Volvo understands the value of heat. I dare you to stay on the highest setting for a lengthy drive. There are also three degrees of heated seats.
Cross Country variants date back to the original 1997–2000 Volvo V70 XC, followed by a second-generation V70 XC in 2001, and a third generation debuted in 2008. The introduction of a V90 Cross Country for the 2017 model year marked the fourth generation, made possible by the flexibility of the new architecture.
V60 T8 teaser
We also spent a little time in the V60 T8 with Volvo’s plug-in hybrid Twin Engine powertrain providing all-wheel drive. Global T8 production is not scheduled to begin until the spring of 2020, and at this point there are no plans to sell it in North America. Volvo is taking a deliberate wait-and-see attitude to gauge demand for the V60 overall. The U.S. could get the T6 plug-in hybrid instead of the T8, but again, no green lights yet.
The T8 we drove briefly had Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 studded tires and the telltale grabby brakes of a hybrid. The plug-in felt heavier and not as spirited to drive. Nor is its battery-only range groundbreaking at only 27 miles, though it beats the XC90’s 19 miles on electricity alone. Push a button for permanent all-wheel drive to be engaged with the help of the gas engine augmenting the electric motor already supplying power to the rear wheels.
At the Lulea University of Technology, a research project classifies different types of snow. It is this focus on elements that forged a car like the V60 Cross Country. We can now attest to its abilities in harsh conditions and look forward to spending more time with it on regular tires, in regular conditions, and on regular roads.

2018 Volvo V90
Well, the strangest factor concerning this vehicle is that we tend to don’t recognize wherever to place it. it’s sort of a wagon however it’s all the qualities of AN SUV vehicle. it’s AN extended roofline and therefore the very same interior because of the wagon version, however, it’s upraised from the bottom and it’s a body of the SUV and therefore the firm AWD stance.
The 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country are distinctive and perhaps it’s within the entrance of a completely new category. it’ll lure the fans of wagons and SUVs likewise.

The same details you may see on the S90, you may notice on the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country exterior. it’s a similar B pillar on the front and as you go towards the sidelines, you may notice the sports details seen on the XC90. it’s the mixture of all the nice stuff from the foremost triple-crown models of the ninety families. the complete sideline appearance art movement and a minimum of ugly. The taillights go all the method from the parallel to horizontal lines, from the center of the rear, slightly below the car window and that they position themselves vertically, parallel to the D-pillars.
2018 Volvo V90 Exterior
The factor you’ll notice stupidly is that the height of the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country. It will undergo as AN SUV if you don’t mind the length. Some extra skid plates from front and back, ar there to shield the beneath body. Again, like on every single SUV. the sole downside is that plastic can’t be used as a protection from everything.
2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country Interior
Inside of the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country interior, you won’t realize something new. Everything you have got already fully fledged and seen on the regular V90 are found here. All those details are planning to be molten along to supply luxury you’ll see solely on the highest grade European cars.
2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country Engine
There will be some of the versions to settle on from for the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country engine lineup. though we have a tendency to aren’t bound that Volvo goes to through all of the choices, considering restrictions that some countries have.
The base model is that the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country T5. it’s one turbo two.0-liter engine with 254hp and five,500rpm and 258 pound-feet of torsion, 0-60 in 7.4 seconds and fuel consumption of 32mpg.
2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country T6 with 2.0-liter compressor, twincharger. it’s 320hp at five,700rpm and 295-pound-feet of torsion. 0-60 in 6.3 seconds and fuel consumption of three1mpg combined.

2019 Volvo V90 Four Seasons Introduction
Drive any of the current Volvos, and while there are hints of that old school Swedish charm, you might also get the impression that these cars are from an entirely different company—thanks to all-new exterior designs, interior treatments, tech features, and advanced powertrains. We’ve liked what we’ve seen from the new Volvo so much that one of its vehicles has taken home an All-Stars award in each of the past three years, with the Volvo V90 wagon being the latest honoree.
The wagon form itself also holds some added significance to the staff. Though only a few of us are old enough to remember when they ruled the American road, the vast majority of the Automobile team loves us some wagon primarily because it serves as the enthusiast’s anecdote to the high-riding crossover. That’s part of the reason why we named the V90 a 2018 All-Star, and a lot of the reason why we’ve added a 2019 Volvo V90 to our Four Seasons fleet.
We’re also no strangers to getting extended seat time in a Volvo wagon, as we conducted a Four Seasons evaluation of a V60 T5 back in 2015. Among the many things we’re eager to find out: Is Volvo still making the wagons we’ve come to know and love?
Not that sentiment is the sole reason for having a V90 in for a long term test; we’re also mindful of the fact that a big wagon is a good thing to have in our line of work. The V90’s cargo measurements (19.8 cu-ft expanding to 69 cubes with the rear seats folded down) don’t sound like monster numbers, but a wagon orients its cargo volume horizontally rather than vertically. With the seats down, the Volvo’s load floor is 6.5 feet long and 3.6 feet between the wheel wells, and it’s just two feet off the ground. We took the Volvo up to Lone Pine, California, for its first photo shoot, with a ladder for high-angle shots and camping equipment for props, and it proved more adept at carrying the gear than the SUV we’d brought along as a support vehicle. When we talked to another photographer about using a Four Seasons car to accompany an upcoming road-trip article, his eyes lit up: “Can I take the Volvo?”
If you’re in the market for one, obtaining a straight-up V90 wagon isn’t the easiest thing to do. Volvo is pushing its V90 Cross Country, the SUV-ized version of the V90 that is slightly taller, more butch, and (of course) more expensive. Officially, the V90 is only available by special order. Still, from what we’ve seen, plenty of dealers are ordering regular V90s for stock—a nice reminder that we’re doing the right thing by opting for the purist’s version of Volvo’s big wagon.
And big it is—big, black, and imposing. And quick. We opted for the top-of-the-line Inscription version with the 316 hp T6 engine. For those unfamiliar, Volvo has turned its back on the century-old tradition of using different-sized engines for different sized cars, and instead offers (in North America, at least) a single 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain with different power outputs. The T6 is unusual in that it uses both a supercharger and a turbocharger*, the former to provide low-end torque and the latter to generate more high-rpm power. A clutch decouples the supercharger from the engine at higher speeds, and fancy intake plumbing provides a smooth transition from blower to turbo. We’ve been impressed thus far by how well the modestly-sized engine motivates this two-ton wagon. But we imagine it has to work its little heart out to do so, and we’re interested to see how it will hold up to a year of thrashing.
* Yes, yes, techies, we know—technically, turbocharging is a form of supercharging. For the sake of brevity—the soul of wit, after all—we’ll refer to an engine-driven supercharger simply as a supercharger.
Because the V90 represents of a new generation of Volvo luxury, we opted to indulge. The Inscription model, priced at $60,445 (including $995 destination fee), is already quite posh: Its 10-way power front seats are slathered in perforated Nappa leather and the driver’s seat has a power-extendable thigh cushion (very helpful as our staffers range in height by a good foot). Other standard equipment includes four-zone climate control, a kick-to-open power tailgate, and auto-dimming mirrors all around. And because it’s a Volvo, the V90 comes with a long list of safety and driver-assistance equipment, including Pilot Assist, which uses adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance to offer semi-autonomous driving. All-wheel-drive comes as part and parcel of the T6 powertrain.
What about options? While we didn’t check all of the option boxes, we sure as hell didn’t leave many of ’em blank. We started with the $2,500 Advance package, which includes a head-up display, LED headlights with washers, semi-automated parking for when we feel lazy, and a 360-degree parking camera for when we don’t. The V90 offers several stand-alone options, and we sampled heavily: Active suspension with rear air springs ($1,200), massaging front seats ($600), a heated steering wheel ($300), and a charcoal-colored headliner ($200).
We thought the $150 110-volt outlet might come in handy, and the 20-inch wheel upgrade seemed like a good deal at $800. And we couldn’t see getting a wagon without load bars for the roof rack ($250), though they’ll probably spend most of their time in the office as they interrupt the V90s slick roofline. We’d like to say the piéce de rèsistance is the $3,200 Bowers and Wilkins stereo, but in truth it’s probably the extra-cost ($645) metallic black paint—because the no-cost gloss black paint wasn’t good enough. Total list price for our oblong obsidian opus: $70,290.
Our first week with the Volvo reminded us of the royal pain black cars can be. Though the fires raging in the Los Angeles area were far from our offices, apparently there was ash in the air. We know because our V90 was covered by it, and it wasn’t showing on the other cars in the parking lot. Something tells us we’re going to be spending a lot of time and money at the car wash to keep our V90 looking good.
Other than that, though, first impressions have been mostly favorable—and not just from our staff. “I park a lot of new cars in front of my house, but surprisingly few merit comment from neighbors and friends,” notes senior editor Nelson Ireson. “The V90, however, earned praise from gardeners, neighbors, and passersby, all of whom stopped me to ask what it was. After a deeply perplexed look—the liftgate has ‘VOLVO’ written across it in 2.0-inch-high letters—I smiled and told each of them, ‘It’s a Volvo.’ Each admirer was surprised, and, it appeared, pleased.”
Online editor Ed Tahaney adds, “I’ve driven some cool wagons here at Automobile, but the V90 is the only one I’d actually want to buy. It’s a solid ride overall and the black paint and chocolate leather interior combo really works for me.”
The V90 is already proving to be one of our more popular Four Seasons cars—we don’t expect the grass to grow under its tires. But can it last? Will this new-generation Volvo please us as much as the Volvos we’ve run in the past? A year of driving will tell us. Let the wagoning begin!

One Week With: 2018 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD R-Design
I hadn’t spent much time in Volvo’s most-recent wares until this past fall, when I had the chance to sample the Volvo V90 station wagon. It is no secret that Volvo is well known for its emphasis on safety, but the Swedish automaker has also been stepping it up in terms of design, both inside and out, impressing with stylish sheetmetal and elegant interiors.
Take the 2018 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD R-Design I lived with for a week, which considerably expanded my Volvo horizon. This example of the second-generation SUV was particularly alluring thanks to its Bursting Blue Metallic color and metal mesh aluminum side mirrors.
The R-Design package, a $3,300 option, adds a multitude of features that spice up the Volvo XC60’s appearance. These include LED fog lights, sporty leather upholstery, metal mesh aluminum deco inlays, illuminated door handles, black headliner, integrated tailpipes with a body-colored lower insert, and a black mesh grille. Other neat features with this trim level are the drive mode settings, Sensus Navigation Pro, a hands-free opening tailgate, and steering wheel paddle shifters. Our tester also came fitted with the optional 21-inch double spoke alloy wheels sporting Pirelli 255/40/R21 summer tires—all for a measly $1,000.
Exploring the Volvo XC60 R-Design’s infotainment system—a far better alternative to zoning out into a smartphone screen—lead me to peruse the additional integrated apps that it contains along with the climate, nav, and entertainment controls. These include Pandora, Yelp, Google Search, Park and Pay, Spotify, and WikiLocations, the last of which sparked my curiosity.
WikiLocations allows you to access Wikipedia-related content of nearby places based either on the geographic position of your vehicle or a set destination. When you conduct a search you are given the options of a full article, summary, photography, and history of a point of interest. WikiLocations is only functional if the car is equipped with both Sensus Connect and Sensus Navigation. Though I felt enlightened by the WikiLocations app, in the age of smartphones, it seems outmoded. Still, kudos to Volvo for including this awesome geo-location app.
Another option on our test car that considerably added to our enjoyment of it is the excellent Bowers & Wilkins sound system, a $3,200 option, which offers adjustable equalizer settings as well as the usual tone adjustements.
To test the system, I created a playlist that I titled Swedish Volvo Soundtrack and signed into my Spotify account via the in-car app—my first time using an in-car Spotify app. With Spotify being a Swedish company as well, and me being an avid listener of Swedish artists, the Swedish Volvo Soundtrack featured only Swedish artists like such as The Knife, Little Dragon, Lykke Li, and Fever Ray. As a hip-hop artist would say, “All Swedish Everything.”
The quality of audio from factory sound systems is an important attribute of a car’s interior. The driver seat is a space in which I spend a good chunk of my life and lousy audio gets annoying quickly. Using the Volvo’s available equalizer settings, I was able to adjust more than just the bass and treble, resulting in a more robust sound. While searching around online, I found a lengthy thread dedicated to the B&W’s equalizer settings in a forum called SwedeSpeed. After putting the Bowers & Wilkins sound system to the test I agree with other Volvo enthusiasts that dishing out the cash for this upgrade is justified.
I drove mostly in Dynamic mode because why not. The Volvo XC60 T6 R-Design has a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine capable of 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque and, when set into Dynamic, the crossover thrusts forward with far greater response, especially on the highway. The Oncoming Lane Mitigation system felt a tad bit sensitive, occasionally flashing a warning while driving past parked cars or approaching a car waiting at the median to turn left. When this avoidance collision system activated unnecessarily, I reacted as if something was actually about to happen. This was the only qualm I had with the XC60’s safety features.
The XC60’s automatic braking system seemed ideal for all driving situations and proved its worth during my time with the car. When another driver in cross traffic blasted through a red light—not an uncommon occurrence in Los Angeles—the driver in front of me came to a sudden stop. I nervously punched the brakes as hard as I could but thankfully, the Volvo’s automatic braking system was active and aided me in safely bringing the XC60 to a complete stop. Phew. The auto-hold system proved itself useful, too, making life easier in grueling Interstate 5 traffic en route to San Ysidro, the closest city to the Mexican border.
Opting for a base model Volvo XC60 with no added options puts you at roughly $45,895 with destination fee—not a bad deal for the budget concerned. But if I were making the commitment to purchase this luxury compact SUV I’d be in favor of adding a few options specifically the R-Design package. The XC60’s competitors in similar price range include the BMW X3 and Audi SQ5 both, which I’ve had the opportunity to drive. Though the Audi SQ5impressed me with its extra horsepower, I still prefer the Volvo because it feels more like a true SUV.

2018 Genesis G80
Volvo itself has tried to shift away from its classic image as a model that places emphasis on safety, but at the expense of design and efficiency. The Volvo XC60 is the Swedish manufacturer's latest entry. On the highway, the Volvo XC60 delivers efficiency that is easily on par with its European rivals. Our View: The Volvo V90 Cross Country presents all of the refined performance and upmarket luxury of its sisters, however with a welcome further dose of versatility. Volvo provides a 302-hp model of this engine in the common S60; sadly, it can't be had within the Cross Country. Volvo covers these with a complete warranty good for seven years or 100,000 miles from the brand new-car buy date. It鈥檚 been three years since Volvo鈥檚 flagship SUV arrived within the U.S. The Mercedes clinches the victory - it鈥檚 the quickest, the perfect to drive, and has an interior that scores highly when it comes to both know-how and design.
Along with the success of the E-Class, Mercedes-Benz also celebrated the S-Class Cabriolet winning the perfect Cabriolet category. The ML500 falls into the former category. Its residence format is four stacked horizontal bars, including navigation, media, cellphone and one other one you select. 9-velocity automated transmission, while the facility is transferred to all 4 wheels.. And while its cabin left little to complain about, it didn't knock your socks off the way in which the X5's did. My seat 2A, was truly the primary in the cabin so I had the partition in front of me. 3000 Luxurious Seat bundle, or they were R-Design models with related chairs partially lined in faux suede. The three trims out there on the XC60 are the Momentum, the R-Design and the Inscription with the powertrains denoted by T5 (base engine), T6 (midlevel engine) and T8 (the top plug-in hybrid mannequin). Many consumers see the Lexus as an ordinary bearer for hybrid powertrains within the premium market - after all, the model and its Toyota sister have been doing 鈥渢he H word鈥?for a long time. But we鈥檙e intrigued about what Genesis has in retailer for us with the revised model that鈥檚 doing some test runs in Germany.
However all that鈥檚 preamble. Flash Drive: Clear Fleet Report 鈥淔lash Drives鈥?are concise evaluations of automobiles that embrace the most important factors and are simple and quick to read. But to echo earlier points that Takahashi and JayKav made, the Explorer simply seems big for the sake of it. I have Indian DL. This deficit of data is squarely on the again of Chevrolet, who failed to correctly market the Volt or prepare its sellers properly. And anyone who puts small youngsters or furry buddies in their automobile in the summertime ought to think of sunshades as a safety precaution as well as a consolation function. Don鈥檛 expect German sport sedan dynamics from an all-wheel-drive model of a front-wheel-drive automotive with a rear-wheel-drive sprint-to-axle proportion. However then again individuals are paid very nicely to do these jobs, so it鈥檚 okay to anticipate them to know what they鈥檙e doing, even when they clearly don鈥檛. It has immense brand value in the nation - it鈥檚 very much our peoples鈥?car! But it鈥檚 not meant to inspire your internal cornerist. Robert Dahlgren, present Volvo V8 Supercar driver and Polestar take a look at driver, advised us the transmission has been significantly tremendous-tuned for the 2015 mannequin. At house, I plugged into standard Level 1 household current and it refilled in a single day.
Although it is a wagon, the robust wanting exterior makes it look beefy and due to this fact, less household hauler'esque. Our view: The Jaguar XF S is a worthy competitor in a very powerful market. After all the pleasure of driving on the tracks and off-highway, it could seem a let-down to drive on regular roads, but this although couldn't be further from the truth. Thanks to perfectly tuned stability and traction management methods and an extremely rigid body, the SRX makes driving seem simple. As a result of there was no danger, I kept my foot within the throttle and the brakes have been by no means applied -- however the warnings were distracting. I simply couldn't get accustomed to the synthetic really feel, and that faint click on you hear when first making use of power, then pushing your foot by way of a mushy zone with minimal suggestions. It is related to a Swedish relaxing vacation targeted on skiing. Which used 2010 Lexus IS 350 CS are available in my space? These numbers are stable, if not overwhelming.

2018 All-Stars Contender: 2018 Volvo V90 T6 AWD R-Design
Anyone older than 40 remembers a day when there were more wagons on the road than high-riding SUVs and crossovers. Sadly, that day has come and gone, and no matter how much we want it to, there will never be a Cinderella-story comeback. Dead segment driving, you might say.
Thankfully there are still a few companies keeping the fading wagon dream alive here in America—chief among them Volvo. And in case you hadn’t noticed, we love us some Volvos. The V90 wagon’s S90 sedan sibling scored a Daily Double last year as our 2017 Design of the Year and a 2017 All-Star.
To clarify, there are two flavors of the V90, the straight-up wagon New York bureau chief Jamie Kitman and friends drove to South Carolina and back as part of a feature story late last year, and the V90 Cross Country, a slightly cladded and lifted version Volvo can better market as a crossover alternative (because of course). As Kitman pointed out, the non-Cross Country V90 is only available for special order, so you really have to want one to get one. We wanted, and we went with a V90 T6 AWD with the R-Design package sprayed up in a sweet metallic shade called Bursting Blue for our All-Stars evaluation vehicle.
“Sharp—that’s how you describe the Volvo V90,” contributor Chris Nelson said. “It looks sharp, drives directly, operates in a straightforward manner, and has clean-cut aesthetics. Minimalist design means superfluous bits are contained to small trim pieces and the like.” Put another way, the V90 is tacklike, never tacky, and although it’s no hot-rod sled, it’s plenty capable dynamically.
Sharp enough to earn a 2018 All-Stars trophy? Find out on Saturday, March 10, when we announce the winners at the 2018 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance—and right here on automobilemag.com.

2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country Specs
New Post has been published on http://2018autoreview.com/2018-volvo-v90-cross-country.html
2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country Specs
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country Specs – Volvo has stunned this year with the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country. the whole 90 series lineup was conferred throughout 2017, as well as the XC90 crossover edition, S90 sedan, and V90 wagon. And now, we’ve got the latest unleash within the family that is sort of twenty years previous.
2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country Exterior
If not a similar, expect some, at least, similar instrumentality as well as the pic system and a few property choices. (The 9” touchscreen within the central a part of the dashboard, fully digital gauges, multifunction hand wheel, Apple and CarPlay support, heated and ventilated seats and everything else you have got already got want to.
2018 Volvo V90 Interior
There will be some high-quality animal skin upholstery, created together with distinction handicraft to grant it a clear sports note, brushed metallic element details all around the doors and a dashboard – along with wood details.
The wagon-like profile can by default supply an oversized cargo deck and enough head and leg space for persons of any height. The fifty-four blockish feet of product area is enough for anyone.
The base model is that the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country T5. it’s one turbo two.0-liter engine with 254hp and five,500rpm and 258 pound-feet of torsion, 0-60 in 7.4 seconds and fuel consumption of 32mpg.
two018 Volvo V90 Cross Country T6 with 2.0-liter compressor, twincharger. it’s 320hp at five,700rpm and 295-pound-feet of torsion. 0-60 in 6.3 seconds and fuel consumption of three1mpg combined.
2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country Turbo Diesel D4, twin turbo engine with 190hp. it’ll run from 0-60 in eight.8 seconds and it’ll reach the utmost speed of 130mph. The fuel economy is 45mpg.
The last one would be the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country D5, twin turbo diesel. The output is 235hp and it’ll go from 0-60 in seven.5 seconds. prime speed is 143mph and it’ll consume 44mpg.
Diesel engines are still beneath the punctuation mark, however, they might get the inexperienced light-weight, considering their fuel consumption.
Speaking of fuel consumption, there may even be a plug-in a hybrid known as 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country T8 somewhere within the future. you’ll expect 400hp ANd an choice of all-electric, long vary cruising.
The information is scarce and it’ll get well because the time goes. you simply ought to wait a little bit additional, and that we can inform you as presently as we get some new data.
2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country unleash Date and worth
The official 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country unleash date has not been determined however it’ll happen someday throughout 2017.

Volvo V90: 2018 Motor Trend Car of the Year Contender
We Like: Styling inside and out, Bowers & Wilkins stereo
We Don’t Like: Road noise, ignition knob interface
We continue to swoon before this lovely wagon and nestle into a cabin Mark Rechtin called a “cocoon of comfort.”
“Boasting the same extravagant dash-to-axle ratio, taut surfacing, and crisp character lines as the S90 sedan, the V90 wagon exudes the same confident stance and studied elegance,” Angus MacKenzie said.” Though this time it’s infused with just a dash of sportiness, thanks to those rakish D-pillars and the slightly shorter rear overhang.”

The 2.0-liter engine’s initial surge of boost from the supercharger is addicting, with the turbo kicking in just as the supercharger wanes, Christian Seabaugh noted.
The V90 handled uneven surfaces better than the other wagons in the field and had less tire squeal and body roll on the handling course, Frank Markus said. But the ride could be more refined. It is rock-solid and stable at high speeds, and Pilot Assist skillfully keeps the wagon safely between the lane markings.
Thoughtful inside touches include the pop-up cargo area divider with integrated straps and hooks. The second-row seats fold electrically. And the front seats might be the most comfortable in the business.
Oddly, this low-volume wagon can only be special-ordered. And as fabulous as the V90 is, our tester cost almost $70,000, which Ed Loh called “a bit eye-watering.”
Lieberman contended that had the S90 and V90 arrived simultaneously last year, Volvo could have had a strong chance of walking away with the Golden Calipers. But as a low-volume stand-alone vehicle, the wagon didn’t sufficiently advance Volvo’s cause.
