One of the best things about electric cars in 2023 is that we are now seeing 1st generation models from the âearly yearsâ being improved, revised and facelifted. For the early-adopters in the UKâs EV market, we are grateful for those consumers and businesses for having the foresight and courage to invest into all-electric technology in 2018 / 2019 / 2020, when little was known on how good this form of transport would be (and when public charging infrastructure was still in its early inception). And VWâs electric Golf replacement, the ID.3, was first shown to the world in 2016 before being pushed into production in 2019 with deliveries taking place around 2020 around Europe (including the UK). As one would expect, the ID3 was fairly popular, amassing some 11,032 registrations in 2021 (it was the 3rd best-selling EV in the UK) followed by becoming the 4th best-selling UK EV with 9,178 registrations in 2022! (see SMMT for more details - https://media.smmt.co.uk/). Launching with a Pure battery (45 kWh), Pro battery (58 kWh) and Pro S configuration (77 kWh), VWâs all-electric hatchback filled a necessary hole in the UKâs automotive market, which was historically dominated by SUVs and luxury / prestige options. Winning awards, like the Which? Best Buy of 2023 (https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/new-and-used-cars/volkswagen-id-3-2020), does prove that this is very much the zero-emission Golf equivalent. Â Â
But the âfuture of drivingâ is not a completed model and the German group have now confirmed a series of external, integral and technological improvements to this popular EV (see VW - https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/electric-and-hybrid/electric-cars/the-new-id3.html). As the âevolution of electric mobilityâ continues, the brand have confirmed some truly existing updates including:
Exterior - new colours such as Dark Olivine Green,   sharper profile at the front together with new tail light clusters and   dynamic turn signals plus IQ.Light LED matrix headlights set to be   offered. New alloy options including the 19â Wellington and 20â Sanya   alloys, a new Exterior Package will allow drivers to add LED matrix   headlights with automatic lighting control, LED tail lights, illuminated   strip between headlights and tinted rear windows. An Exterior Packages   PLUS includes a panoramic roof and sun blind;  Â
Interior - increased options on the dash and door trim,   together with higher quality finish. Ability to upgrade to the optional   electric seats with massage function and high-quality fabric. New   panoramic glass roof with âheavenly viewsâ and sunblind; and
Technology and safety - 8-colour ambient lighting,   Travel Assist with adaptive lane guidance and predictive cruise control,   Emergency Assist, Area View with 4 cameras, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane   Keeping Assist and Park Assist Plus can all be added to your new ID3.    Â
Not unlike many other brands, the ID.3 will be utilising over-the-air updates for continual improvements coupled with the We Connect ID app for synergising your vehicle to your mobile device. Many EV customers enjoy the facility to start and stop charging, or warm their vehicle, from the comfort of the app. Â

First Look: The Volkswagen Touareg R - Plug-in Hybrid
Volkswagen is set to add a range-topping new premium model to its flagship Touareg line â the Touareg R. The versatile modelâs 340 kW (462 PS) plug-in hybrid drive offers an innovative blend of superlative performance and electric efficiency. When the battery is sufficiently charged, the new SUV always starts in the all-electric E-MODE for zero emissions. The battery capacity is designed so that the Touareg R can cover the average daily commute under electric power. Like all Touareg models, the new R version comes with permanent all-wheel drive (4MOTION) as standard. 4MOTION and the powerful drive system (700 Nm of torque) means the Touareg R has also been homologated for a maximum trailer weight of 3.5 tonnes. The premium model can cope with this maxi- mum trailer weight even in E-MODE. As the first plug-in hybrid SUV in the world, the Touareg can also be fitted with the trailer maneuvering system Trailer Assist. And yet another first: the Touareg will be available with Travel Assist for the first time. The premium model will be the first Volkswagen to boast assisted driving (automatic longitudinal and lateral guidance) up to a speed of 250 km/h.
First R model with plug-in hybrid. The new flagship model was designed by the Volkswagen R performance brand, which traditionally develops the sportiest models in the Volkswagen range. The Touareg R represents a paradigm shift â it is the first Volkswagen R model to feature a plug-in hybrid drive. It is also the first time a hybrid model has been the most highly-powered Volkswagen. The extremely well appointed Touareg R, which features the Black Style exterior design package along with 20-inch alloy wheels & R-Line interior trim (including Vienna leather), is set to enter the market in the second half of 2020.
Intelligent electric performance. The Touareg R is the third plug-in hybrid model in Volkswagenâs European product line, following in the wheel-tracks of the Golf and Passat. The Touareg R is the first all-wheel drive model in Volkswagenâs PHEV range, and is also another milestone in the realignment of Volkswagen R that started in 2019. Jost Capito, managing director of the Groupâs in-house performance brand, explains: âWe are currently vigorously expanding the Volkswagen R range. Following the compact CUV models â T-Roc R1and T-Roc Cabriolet R-Line2 â Volkswagen R is introducing another sport utility vehicle within a very short space of time â the Touareg R, which has a quite unique position and unrivaled charisma.â The Touareg R is synonymous with a new and intelligent level of electric performance in segment of large touring SUVs.
Authentic, avant-garde, practical. Volkswagen R is responsible for the visual and technical configuration, and with it the conceptual direction of the new model. The Touareg R is based on the third generation of the product line launched in 2018, which in turn was an evolution of the model first introduced in 2002. All current Touareg models feature a dynamic and elegant design, maximum safety and long-distance comfort, state-of-the-art connectivity and a largely digitized cockpit. The overall concept is also designed with a high level of everyday usability in mind. Some 60% of all  Touareg owners in Germany and 40% in Europe also use their SUV as a towing vehicle â remarkably high figures. The Touareg is often driven by sporty, active people who value the utmost safety, outstanding driving comfort, intuitive control and cutting-edge connectivity. The new Touareg R has been designed specifically for this extremely tech-savvy customer group. For the first time, they now have a performance model that can be driven temporarily in all-electric mode with zero local emissions. The new Touareg com- plies with the Euro 6d-TEMP-EVAP-ISC emission standard.
Extended powertrain range. The SUV product line is currently available with one turbocharged petrol engine (TSI) and three turbocharged diesel engines (TDI). The V6 TSI engine delivers a power output of 250 kW (340 PS)3. As a V6 TDI, the Touareg is available with two output levels: 170 kW (231 PS)4 and 210 kW (286 PS)5. The current most powerful Touareg is a V8 TDI with 310 kW (421 PS)6. Volkswagen is adding a range-topping model in the form of the new Touareg R.
Top R dynamic performance. As a typical Volkswagen R model, the Touareg R provides ultra-dynamic performance. Like at the touch of a button, the driver just has to press the accelerator to access the full output of the electric motor (100 kW/136 PS) and the turbocharged V6 petrol engine (250 kW/340 PS) as required. The two drive systems can then be combined in a boost function to use the vehicleâs dynamic reserves â for instance to over- take another vehicle quickly and safely â and to exploit the full system  power of 340 kW (462 PS). The maximum system torque is 700 Nm.
All-wheel drive hybrid. The hybrid drive of the Touareg R essentially consists of a 2,995 cm3 V6 turbocharged petrol engine, the electric drive motor and a lithium-ion battery (energy capacity of 14.1 kWh) built into the luggage compartment underbody. The power electronics convert the direct current of the battery into alternating current for the electric drive motor. An 8- speed automatic gearbox (with Tiptronic) and a transfer box transmit power to the front and rear axles (4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive). A center differential lock with asymmetric dynamic torque distribution (Torsen traction) acts as a transfer box for the flow of forces between the front and rear axle. A maximum of 70% of the drive force reaches the front axle and up to 80% reaches the rear axle.
All-electric drive up to 140 km/h. When first started, the Touareg R uses only the electric motor if the battery is sufficiently charged. This ensures that the SUV comes as close to zero emissions as possible, especially on short journeys. This hybrid strategy also provides the greatest savings potential. The Touareg R can be driven in all-electric mode at a speed of up to 140 km/h; above this, the V6 TSI is activated automatically â or at any time using kickdown. The maximum speed of the SUV is electronically regulated at 250 km/h.

Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 Exterior, Price, Engine, Interior â The latest spy images show that the 7th-generation Golf is at the moment considering a mid-period revise for the 2020 model year. Involving some prototypes evaluating approximately Europe, a Golf R model has recently been found. The spy photographs show a variety of design changes on both the hatchback and wagon models. Gossip has it that the VW Golf R Variant (wagon) will not allow it to be to the U.S. marketplace. The Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 could reach the dealerships in mid-2019, following trusted reports.
Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 Exterior
Just because it is generally the instance with Volkswagens, the forthcoming medium-cycle up-date wonât bring extreme changes to the exterior. As an alternative, expect to have the Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 to acquire a somewhat revised bumper and grille. Other visible changes will comprise of new Directed signatures for the headlights and taillights. The spied analyse mule disclosed a bigger heart bumper vent and reshaped section air intakes. Concerning the rear conclusion, it continues to tough to identify any changes other than the modified taillights. Ahead of that, expect to have the new Golf to offer you new wheel layouts and exterior colourations.
Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 Interior
Changes will be a lot more subtle on the inside the cabin. Other than new upholstery hues, the original structure will continue to be generally unaffected. Now, the Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 will bring substantial additional improvements as it pertains to technologies. Expect to have it to feature a revised infotainment system with a larger sized touchscreen, as very well as Volkswagenâs most current security methods. Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 Engine
The Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 may have the common 2.0-litre turbocharged three-tube within its hood. Established productivity amounts have but to arrive but we never anticipate this device to stray far away from the latest version. This means the engine is very likely to produce 290 hp and 280 pound-ft . of torque. All-time generates will once again come regular, with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed two clutch system transmissions accessible.
Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 Release Date And Price
The Volkswagen Golf 8 2020 changes will not provide anything at all spectacular to the car business as pointed out. The past revises before the next-era can make its first appearance will assist this model in keeping very competitive on this race. The Volkswagen Golf Râs key competitors include things like various formidable models this kind of as the Ford Focus RS and Honda Civic Type R.

Polo GTS: motor, detalhes, equipamentos, consumo, desempenho, fotos
Junto do Virtus, que tambĂ©m ganhou configuração GTS (Gran Turismo Sport), o novo Volkswagen Polo GTS basicamente jïżœïżœ desembarcou no Brasil.
Tecnologia e esportividade sĂŁo pontos fortes do novo Volkswagen Polo GTS.
Trazendo caracterĂsticas do modelo europeu, o GTS traz detalhes do GTI.
A grade Ă© do tipo colmeia e traz a identificação âGTSâ.
Detalhes do irmĂŁo (Virtus)
O logotipo GTS estĂĄ bordado no material.
âO pĂșblico pediu e a Volkswagen fez! O grande Ăcone do passado estarĂĄ de volta.

Exterior do Jetta GLI

Future Cars! 2020 and Beyond
Car buyersâyouâre in for a treat. Because no matter your budget for a new car, the future is bright. The wait is almost over for Corvette fans waiting for a mid-engine layout, but with the Shelby GT500 and new M3 on the way, the Chevy will have some serious sports car company.
And maybe youâve heard, but our automotive future is electrified. From Fiat to Audi, fully electric cars you might actually want to drive will be here soon (if a Model 3 and the other existing options arenât your style).
So keep reading for more on future cars headed to a dealership near you.
More on future cars:
Future SUVs! 2020 and Beyond
WHATâS NOW
Chevrolet Corvette
Whatâs New: The long-awaited mid-engine Corvette is finally here. After years of rumors, spy shots, leaks, and speculation, Chevrolet will finally peel the camo off this July. When it does, we expect to find a dual-overhead-cam V-8 under the rear glass with a pair of turbochargers driving the rear wheels through a manual or dual-clutch automatic transaxle. Multiple power outputs are expected courtesy of various displacements, with both 4.2-liter and 5.5-liter versions to be fitted. An all-new electrical architecture will feature top-of-the-line sensors and computers for performance and handling enhancement, but youâll no doubt be able to turn them all off, too. Inside, Chevrolet has gone upscale with a classy, driver-focused interior featuring premium materials and a digital instrument cluster. Although base-model Corvettes will start at about $70,000, higher-performance models will quickly shoot up in price to cover both the development cost and the improvements in technology, performance, and comfort. But they should still remain relatively attainable.
Whatâs Not: Base cars are expected to employ Chevroletâs tried-and-true 6.2-liter pushrod V-8. Midrange cars might also employ the supercharged pushrod engine. We predict Chevrolet will continue to offer a removable targa roof that will store in the cargo area.
When: July 18, 2019
How Much: $70,000-$140,000 (est)
Porsche Taycan
Whatâs New: Everything. For some time now, the highly anticipated first all-electric Porsche sedan has been caught testing, piling up about 1.2 million miles in the process. Itâs looking less futuristic than its Mission E concept, but we know an 800-volt system sends power to two electric motors generating a combined 440 kW (590 hp), and that power is sent to all four wheels. Said to be quicker than 3.5 seconds to 60 mph and with more than 300 miles range, the Taycan will be available at the end of this year. Buyers will receive three years of free charging at the 484 Electrify America public stations across the country. Using DC fast charging, up 60 miles of range can be had in just four minutes or roughly 250 miles in about 15 minutes. Some reports indicate the automaker wants to introduce higher-performance variants and a Targa. We canât wait.
Whatâs Not: Even EV skeptic (and longtime Porsche test driver/brand ambassador) Walter Röhrl was impressed: âItâs crazy. In all my years of rallying, Iâve never experienced such performance. The Taycan goes so well at such speed, really tremendous. If I had to drive it blindfolded, I would still know immediately that I was sitting in a Porsche.â
When: Late 2019
How Much: $85,000 (est)
BMW M3
Whatâs New: The 2021 M3 will carry the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine as the X3M and X4M crossovers, meaning 473 hp and 442 lb-ft of output (or thereabouts, due to slightly different tuning for a sedan and crossover). That should result in 0â60 acceleration around 3.7 seconds. (Note: The current model tops out at 444 hp on the CS version.) A year or so down the line, the M3 Competition will provide in the neighborhood of 500-plus hp. The new G20 platform rides with 1.6 inches more wheelbase and has a wider track, which might prioritize corner-on-rails stability over quick-twitch handling. The M3 should allow for both RWD and AWD applications. (AWD might be defeatable to RWD if desired, as on the M5.) There is rumor of a âPureâ stripped-down base model with a stick shift (yay!) but slightly less power (sigh).
Whatâs Not: Some switches, controls, and knobs. Itâs a new platform with upgraded engines, even a new infotainment interface.
When: Early 2020
How Much: $68,000 (est)
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
Whatâs New: The Shelby GT500 returns for the first time on the sixth-gen Mustang. Using a new engine and some aero enhancements, Ford promises this Mustang can hit 180 mph and that it wonât overheat at the track. This Shelby ought to be easier to lap, too, as it comes standard with a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic. There are no plans for a manual in 2020.
Whatâs Not: Although it shares its displacement with the GT350âs flat-plane-crank V-8, the Shelby GT500âs 5.2-liter V-8 is a cross-plane design. Between that and the supercharger, Ford claims power and torque have increased from 526 hp and 429 lb-ft in the GT350 to more than 700 hp and 600 lb-ft in the GT500.
When: Late 2019
How Much: $75,000 (est)
Cadillac CT5
Whatâs New: The CT5 is a new nameplate for Cadillac. This compact sedan replaces the ATS and CTS and is an evolution of Cadillacâs design language. The standard engine is the new 237-hp, 258-lb-ft 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged I-4 that made its first appearance in the CT6 refresh. A modified 335-hp, 400 lb-ft 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 (smaller turbos) is available and debuts in the CT5. Both are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. New rear badging will denote a rounded-off torque figure in Newton-meters. Super Cruise will be added in the second model year. A CT5-V is expected in the future.
Whatâs Not: It rides on GMâs rear-wheel-drive Alpha platform with some enhancements to the carryover front multilink strut and rear five-link suspension. All-wheel drive will be available on all trim levels.
When: Fall 2019
How Much: $48,000
Volkswagen Golf
Whatâs New: Volkswagenâs popular hatchback enters its eighth generation and will reportedly grow slightly in size with a few design tweaks. The sporty GTI will allegedly feature a mild hybrid powertrain featuring a 48-volt electrical system that will power the turbocharger to improve low-end boost before the exhaust pressure builds. Itâs not yet clear whether the standard non-GTI Golf will return to the U.S. market.
Whatâs Not: The new Golf will still ride on VWâs MQB platform, though rumors suggest itâs been revised to cut weight.
When: Early 2020
How Much: $23,000 (est)
Maserati Alfieri
Whatâs New: The Alfieri has been designed from the ground up to be Maseratiâs new halo car. Itâs available as either a coupe or convertible with three levels of electrification. The EV version featuring three-motor, four-wheel drive and a quick-charging 800-volt battery will top the lineup.
Whatâs Not: Both the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the Alfieri will use a Ferrari-sourced engine. If that engine is a V-8, it will probably be a version of the 3.8-liter twin-turbo currently found in the Levante GTS.
When: 2020
How Much: $150,000 (est)
Porsche 718 Boxster T/718 Cayman T
Whatâs New: Following the widely praised âTâ prescription that was given to 911 Carrera brethren, the 718 twins will similarly enjoy reduced weight, lowered and further-honed suspension, the Sport Chrono package, and Porsche Torque Vectoring. A six-speed manual is standard; a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic is optional. The 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four 718 T (likely 300 hp, 280 lb-ft) will slot into the lineup between S and GTS versions in terms of price but surely will be the pointiest 718 available.
Whatâs Not: Engine output for the States has not yet been finalized, but as in the base car, itâs a 2.0-liter turbo for certain. The Cayman T coupe and Boxster T roadster body lines remain the same; only subtle interior and exterior distinctions are visible.
When: 2020
How Much: $70,000 (est)
Subaru Legacy
Whatâs New: The Legacy moves over to Subaruâs new Global Platform, which the automaker says is safer, handles better , and maximizes interior volume. An optional 2.4-liter turbocharged flat-four is now available, and the redesigned interior can be had with a large 11.6-inch touchscreen oriented vertically on the dashboard. The EyeSight package of driver assistance technology is now standard, and other driver assist features are available.
Whatâs Not: A 2.5-liter flat-four engine still serves as the base powertrain, but has been updated with 90 percent new parts and direct injection for the 2020 Legacy.
When: Fall 2019
How Much: $24,000 (est)
Hyundai Elantra
Whatâs New: After a refresh for 2019, the compact Elantra is back with more updates for 2020. The Elantra will feature a new CVT. Like its cousin, the 2019 Kia Forte, itâs likely to grow in size compared to its predecessor. Expect gains in fuel economy, with the base 2.0-liter engine hitting 41 mpg on the highway.
Whatâs Not: Although power figures havenât been released, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has been confirmed once again. Itâs likely the model will also continue with 1.4- and 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines.
When: Late 2019
How Much: $18,500 (est)
WHATâS NEXT
Aston Martin Vanquish
Whatâs New: Itâs Astonâs take on a Ferrari mid-engine supercar, specifically at the new F8 Tributo revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March. If it looks anything like the concept and revives the Vanquish name, weâll be extremely happy. The Vanquish could pack the new V-6 hybrid turbo behind the seats, possibly making north of 700 hp to compete directly with the Tributo. Weâve heard the new model is being developed with the help of Red Bull Racing engineers, so expect the car to have a lot of F1 bits and pieces.
Whatâs Not: Its name. The name Vanquish has come and gone a couple of timesâit was first used from 2001 to 2007 and then again from 2012 to 2018. Aston built a few special editions, but this new supercar will be completely different from anything weâve seen with the Vanquish badge.
When: 2020
How Much: $350,000 (est)
Alfa Romeo GTV
Whatâs New: As Alfaâs practical coupe, the GTV will have four seats and a trunk, but thatâs where the practicality ends. The front-engine, rear-drive 2+2 is expected to be offered only with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive will be optional. The high-performance Quadrifoglio model will add an electric motor between the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 and the transmission to boost output to more than 600 hp.
Whatâs Not: At its core, the GTV is a Giulia coupe. Expect the same turbocharged four-cylinder base engine.
When: 2021
How Much: $45,000 (est)
Audi E-Tron GT
Whatâs New: Audiâs sexy E-Tron GT sedan will follow the more practical E-Tron SUV to market just a year later but with substantial differences. Electric motors front and rear combine for 590 hp, fed by a 95-kW-hr battery pack with an 800-volt charging system capable of nearly filling the battery in 20 minutes. Range is expected to be similar to the E-Tron SUVâs 204 EPA-estimated milesâbut less if you test the estimated 0â60 time of under 3.5 seconds or explore the 149-mph top speed.
Whatâs Not: Squint a bit, and you can tell itâs a nicely rebodied Porsche Taycan.
When: 2020
How Much: $75,000 (est)
Fiat Centoventi
Whatâs New: The entire fully modular cheap-EV concept. An underfloor battery rack can carry up to four individual 60-mile battery packs, which can be rented when needed. A fifth optional pack slides out from under the driverâs seat for convenient indoor charging. Body panels are molded in a single color with wraps providing other colors. Further personalization is provided by five choices each of roof styles and colors, bumpers, and wheels.
Whatâs Not: Fiatâs lifelong mission to bring mobility to the masses, which here drives further innovations like 3-D-printable accessories that mount to a mesh grid of holes in the dash.
When: 2022
How Much: $25,000 (est)
Acura RLX
Whatâs New: Is bolder better? Acura has tried to answer that question over the years, with mixed results. Love it or hate it, the new RDX benefits from engaging styling borrowed from the Precision conceptâand that bold crossover is setting sales records for the brand. That momentum could continue with the RLXâs replacement, a car that may adopt the Precisionâs fastback shape (hello, Audi A7). With very little brand equity in the RL or RLX name, the time could be right for a (slightly) bolder flagship four-door from Acura.
Whatâs Not: Future Acura cabins will be influenced by the Precision Interior concept, like the RDX with its optimally placed infotainment screen and controversial touchpad controller.
When: 2021
How Much: $57,000 (est)
Karma Pininfarina GT Concept
Whatâs New: The Pininfarina-designed Karma concept car made its debut at the 2019 Shanghai auto show and previews the California-based automakerâs upcoming lineup. Its design language will be a departure from the Revero, but most of the fundamental engineering is unchanged. If public response goes well, the Pininfarina GT could go from one-off concept to production model.
Whatâs Not: Karma recently announced a partnership with BMW and will license the German automakerâs turbocharged three-cylinder engine for use as a generator in plug-in hybrid vehicles, including the next-generation Revero.
When: 2020
How Much: $100,000 (est)
