BEHEMOTH/NAPALM DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey folks, sorry for running 2 days late but better late than never, here’s my 4th review of 2022, Behemoth/Napalm Death! It had been 4 and 5 years respectively since I last saw these two bands play and it was Wacken Open Air 2018 and 2017 in those years and man did it feel great to see them once again as it had been too long. I will also highlight this show was held at Rebel, which is my least fav venue in Toronto as it’s a major pain in the ass to get to in terms of travel. 

Let’s start the festivities!

When I got to the venue after doors open I saw Unto Others on stage and they were okay, not my cup of tea, I thought they were a weird mix to the bill.

After Unto Others was NAPALM DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my 6th time seeing them and the first time in nearly 9 years I saw them in Toronto as last I saw them in Toronto was on the Decibel Tour May 31st, 2013 with Cannibal Corpse, Immolation and Beyond Creation, they always put on a great live show. Barney Greenway said in between songs “Thank you, for fuck sake” and as well his banters in between songs were on point and even hilariously true at times especially when he said before Suffer the Children “Next time you see someone from a religious institution telling women what to do with their bodies, tell them to go fuck themselves”. After Napalm Death, I went outside to the smoking area to skip Arch Enemy’s set or more like Arch Enema just like I did 3 years ago when they came with Amon Amarth as current Arch Enemy with Alissa White-Gluz are boring and awful live, case in point when they bored me at Wacken 2014 before Sodom took the stage. I chatted with my pals Kevin, Shawn, Walter, and Ian Rose, the latter 3 I hadn’t seen in 3 years so it felt great to catch up with them.

After Arch Enema, it was time for BEHEMOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my 8th time seeing them live overall and first time in half a dozen years I see them in Toronto as last I saw them in Toronto was with Myrkur at the Phoenix. Behemoth always put on a great live set and as well Nergal had said the following before my fav song “In Ancient Rome they used to say Christians to the Lions *makes the thumbs down gesture*” so it was defo great to hear that song live for the first time in ages.
