That previous inspo post also reminds me that I really... really want to take a deep dive into some Genome/Terran stuff that I haven't actually even expressed in the slightest here on Tumbles one day too!
So... A bout of brainstorming happened some time back in a group of friendlies and there was one particular idea that came up that inspired the heck out of me: that Genomes had past lives as Terrans.
Souls could be theorized to have identities, thanks to Brahn's spiel and what Kuja has to say about her soul and whatnot. (Could be, mind you - if you wish to spin it in that way, though, it supports the theory! Which I'll be doing...! Haha!)
And because they could be theorized to, given that Kuja was among the very few to receive a Terran soul, there is a possibility that there is a whole other chapter of a life long passed scattered about in his existence; imperfect, fragmented (as I personally like to think,) just waiting to have its stories unwound... It's essentially a blank canvas, full of potential.
And what I shall do with it... only time will tell...
🐌💭
#filling the void 🌌#with that Thought™#I have a Terran (Terran - not Genome) character who could help make this even more interesting as well#I haven't introduced her in any capacity beyond a name#I think about Kuja's past being known to her#I think about who he could have been#I think about the potential depth that it adds#I think about more potential Terran history interconnected with Etherealism#I think about the parallels between soul matter and Etherealism#spoiler alert: I think about -a lot- of interesting things because of this one “little” idea#ideas worth multiple Tumble Tangents#maybe#primo void filler#for a future date#🌌💙

Yves's opinion on my other OCs
Part 2/???
Tw: afab/fem reader, mentions of incest, suicide
part 1
If Yves could kill your brother, he would. And he absolutely could in a heartbeat, but you love him too much.
He tried filling that romantic spot in your life, while you initially reciprocated, your stupid brother had to get in the way and try to fight him.
Yves survived more assassination attempts than you could count. At first, he respects your brother because he actually has the riches, the means and the wits to pull things similar to him. But it gets annoying when his men and methods are as harmless as a fly to Yves. Yet, your brother never thought to change up his ways, hoping that one day Yves would just fall for it and die.
Yves sees your brother as a half assed version of himself. While he has the guns, he doesn't have the knowledge to use it; in other words, that boy does not keep records like how Yves does. He is careless and casual in his notes, Yves would scoff at it because all it contains are the things you liked and the most basic of habits. Where is your genome sequencing? Does he know at what luminosity do you like your lights at? Could he even tell when you're cranky? Could he even tell what was making you moody? Yves doubts that he knows how to make you kick a bad habit by talking to you, let alone with the use of reality altering tools.
Your brother is selfish and self centered, there were numerous instances where he did things that he assumed you liked. However, you were clearly showing signs that you didn't, and it doesn't take a maniac like Yves to tell. Like your grandiose eighteenth birthday, the excessive public display of affection, the large quantity of gifts, being unable to keep the peace between himself and your parents, treating you as if you were still five, so on and so forth.
Yves looked down at the fact your brother wasn't putting you first and foremost. His own needs and wants are the priority, not yours. How disgusting of him.
Your brother is so dramatic and embarrassing to be around. Whenever you're with Yves, he would be there too, whining about how his precious baby sister is leaving him to rot alone. No matter how much you tried to reassure him that Yves isn't stealing away from you, your brother still continued bawling his eyes out pathetically.
Yves would simply sit on his chair cross-legged, quietly sipping his tea.
You know incest is wrong. Yves knows it and so does your brother, at least, on the surface. This is how Yves boxed him into that platonic brotherly figure for you, because your brother would have needed to admit he had such forbidden feelings towards his little sister in order to effectively rid Yves from his romantic standing. It wouldn't be a good look as your role model since birth.
He is predictable. Yves knows he wouldn't need to do anything except to control his own irritation. Your brother would only escalate if your boyfriend fought back, as shown in his relationship with your father. Yves would be cold but polite, only replying if needed in short, detached answers.
This frustrates your brother to death, if he threw the first punch especially when Yves was merely silent and not doing anything condescending towards you, your brother would look really crappy in your eyes. What does it take to rile Yves up? It seems like he's a monk who has attained nirvana with his level of patience and collectiveness. Perhaps it was that coolness that drew you into Yves.
He would go ballistic whenever you chose to sit next to Yves instead, hysterically crying and lamenting that he has been replaced. Yves would only observe, smiling sympathetically at you whenever you try to apologize on his behalf. He wouldn't say a word or move a muscle, other than to sip his tea or take another bite out of his meal. Men like these will just tire themselves out.
And in the end, your brother did. It's just like screaming into the void when it comes to Yves. Nothing seems to work, he couldn't be killed, the smear campaigns against him were ineffective in making Yves look bad in your eyes, your boyfriend didn't want his riches so he couldn't be bribed to leave and there is absolutely zero information about Yves whatsoever.
But there was one last thing he hadn't tried. Which was to threaten suicide in front of you.
Yves wasn't having any of that, he predicted that he would be stupid enough to do this already. So a day before this happened, he paid your foolish brother a visit in his "top secret headquarters". It wasn't hard to find it at all, and his security system is... unbelievably shitty.
This would be the only time Yves would raise his voice at him, calling him all kinds of unfriendly terms for even thinking of traumatizing you that way. Yves would tell your brother to grow up, stop being so immature and be there for you. Unfortunately, no matter how Yves wished he would just evaporate out of existence, you need him.
Your older brother couldn't stand a chance against him in a physical fight, no punches landed and Yves didn't even have to try. All he did was restrain his wrist as he thrashed and snarled like a rabid dog.
Yves also seized the chance to sit down with your brother and discuss various compromises. It took your boyfriend a while, because your brother would be sobbing uncontrollably upon realizing what he would have done if it wasn't for Yves's intervention.
It's like dealing with a child. An idiotic, overgrown child with too much money and power in his possessions.
Yves had to wait for him to settle down, drumming his fingers against the table to show that he was impatient.
When your brother finally decided to talk, it was all insults and hatred towards Yves. Hissing and spitting in his face, not sparing a single nasty thought about Yves. He would sit there, as graceful as ever as he gets showered in his spit. Staring blankly at this manbaby.
Eventually, your brother would run out of spunk and need to catch his breath. His shoulders visibility sagged after expressing everything he wanted to say to this thief.
"Are you finished?" Yves would ask, pulling out a wet wipe to clean his face from your brother's saliva spray. "Did you get everything out of your system?"
Predictably, your brother wouldn't respond, he would just slump himself against the chair. He had spent all his energy being angry at someone who isn't.
Good, now Yves can say his piece. He starts off by saying that his frequent outbursts are stressing you out, you shed more hair per day and your sleep cycle is disrupted. Yves pulled out a report that showed the results of your blood test, heart rate and breaths per minute at any given time. There were extra observations that he made, showing a shift in your behavior and an increase in self-soothing gestures. Yves wants your brother to get that under control, or it will do much more serious damage to your health in the long run.
He started tensing up and shouting again, freaking out about how Yves is a stalker. Your boyfriend shut it all down by injecting a sedative into his thigh. It's strong enough to incapacitate him, but not enough to knock him out cold. He needs to be awake and speaking.
Yves continued talking, he kept his negative opinions about your brother to himself, only focusing on your wellbeing. He knew that by telling your brother you actually do not enjoy being treated like a kid, it wouldn't improve the situation at all. He would only become furious as he is that deep into his delusions.
So he stayed on topic about your brother's violent and extreme displays of distress whenever you chose Yves over him.
Yves made it clear that he isn't leaving you and he expressed his understanding that your brother would never let you go either. So, he is willing to negotiate and compromise.
Your boyfriend is such a considerate man, he extended the olive branch by allowing your brother to be with you five days a week. While he only gets two. However, you must have free access to your phone and have at least one means of contacting Yves whenever you want.
Your brother mumbled that he should be getting all seven days if Yves didn't meddle in the first place. This caused the dark haired man to remind him that he can't have everything in the world.
Your brother is suspicious as to why Yves is letting him take up most of your time.
"My beloved values the... unique bond you shared with her." Yves pinched the bridge of his nose.
"You are still... family. I would want my in-laws to have a more... positive opinion of me." Yves tilted his head and frowned, disliking seeking approval from your brother. But he wanted such domesticity, monster-in-laws come with the package.
Your brother stared at him in disbelief. He doesn't know what to say.
Yves is definitely different. None of your boyfriends or girlfriends had this much dedication toward you, the most they did was compliment you on your looks before your brother chased them all away. He's apparently fucking immune to all poisons and gunshot wounds, Yves was nothing but caring and loving towards you.
He could have taken the easy way and disposed of your brother like mere trash, but Yves didn't. Instead, he paid attention. He puts in the effort to be diplomatic and willingly keeps your brother around for your sake. This boyfriend of yours truly has your best interest at heart and also considered your brother's feelings; something that was never done for him before. This was actually the first time your brother felt seen and perceived. It made him feel... naked but genuinely respected for once.
Yves sacrificed a lot just to save the 'friendship' between the two men. Your brother couldn't imagine himself doing what your boyfriend did, with that amount of power? He would have kept you for himself.
It is so bizarre, that a man like Yves, is this generous and selfless. However, this is the only man your older brother is even considering approving for you. It's not like he really has a choice since he just can't get rid of him.
Your brother struggled to regain control of his hand, only to give Yves a thumbs up. Your boyfriend closed his eyes momentarily, annoyed. He calculated that he would agree after five minutes of pondering, but he caved in three minutes earlier.
After that day, you would find that Yves would be busier with work. But if you called him, he would always pick up and entertain you as long as you're willing. Strange that your brother wouldn't interfere, he would be breathing down your neck, but he wouldn't hang the phone up for you at all.
You're shocked that your brother lets you choose who to go home with, instead of attempting to kidnap you back to his penthouse. Obviously, you would choose Yves, who's your boyfriend, and soon-to-be fiance! Plus, it's weird to be sleeping with your brother at this age.
You could see that your brother would be hurt a bit, but in the end, it appeared that he had changed. He wouldn't throw a tantrum if you decided to cuddle against Yves, he would just join in. So now you're sandwiched between two men, one who is openly crazy and the other who seems normal on the surface.
It's... awkward. You asked if Yves was okay with it, and all he did was remind you that your brother is family, smiling and pressing a kiss on your forehead.
Your brother got jealous and began planting numerous kisses on your face to 'clean' you from Yves's filthy kisses. Yves wouldn't interfere if you're enjoying it- opting to read his novel instead, he would tell him off and stop him if you're uncomfortable though.
Your brother would grow to respect him and maybe see him as his first true friend. Why wouldn't he? Yves is attentive to what he likes, gives your brother advice, and isn't afraid to set him straight with a firm hand. Your boyfriend has nothing to gain or lose by being kind to your brother, he's just doing this because he wants to.
Yves would work with you to throw your brother's birthday parties. Not the extravagant, ballroom types with a thousand guests attending, just a simple dinner with the three of you. Yves would cook your favorite meals along with his, you never knew he liked that dish. Your brother never told anyone either.
His gifts to your brother are meaningful, something he would use daily and in his favorite color too. If it's something he wears, it's in the right size, the right style, and the right texture. The best part of his gift was a picture calendar of you, taken in a professional shoot with immaculate lighting. Dressed in different costumes and in different settings, no one else is in your portraits.
Yves would merely watch your brother slack his jaw in disbelief when he opened the present. You're sitting on your older brother's lap as he flips through the personalized calendar with trembling hands. He praised and cooed at you for being so beautiful and gorgeous, you will receive all the kisses from your brother as Yves watched the two of you with a stoic face.
It comes to a point where Your brother would vent to him about his grievances in his life. Yves would patiently listen to him pour his heart out, and give him words of encouragement or solace. He knows your partner is much older than he is, hence he is wealthier in experience. Your brother would come to him for help regarding work, or life in general, and Yves would guide him like how a stern but loving father would.
Your brother didn't know when did he start to become fond of Yves.
Perhaps it was this one time when your brother broke down in front of Yves, wanting to kill himself due to years of suppressed trauma coming out from daily therapy sessions with your boyfriend. Telling him that you would be better off with your deranged brother six feet underground, Yves is much more capable of taking care of you than him. He felt embarrassed, ashamed, and deeply guilty for subjecting you to years of his fucked up obsession.
Yves didn't offer any kind words this time. Instead, Yves grabbed him by the collar and slapped him across the face so hard, that his ears rang and nose bled. Your boyfriend scolded him for thinking that way, you love your brother, and need him in your life. He thinks the self-degradation your brother is going through is foolish, he is a crucial figure in your life, and Yves fucking hates quitters.
He forced your brother to see how far he has come in his journey to improve as a person. Yves had proof, evidence, and numbers to convince him that your brother was far from being hopeless. He didn't put this much effort into raising him just for your brother to throw it all away.
Yves's gone through much, much worse, yet he is still here, caring for you and your brother by extension. It's no wonder why the idea of giving up enraged him so much, he couldn't even afford it back then. He isn't giving the luxury to your brother either, Yves does not want to clean up the mess he would leave after committing suicide.
Your brother got an earful from him, Yves will not accept this type of defeatist mindset. Apparently, his subliminal messages did not work on him, he needed to drill that necessary confidence into his thick skull through more direct means. So Yves yelled the pessimism out of him, shaking him back and forth until he was green in the face. Only then, did he let go, just to envelope him in a bone-crushing hug.
He cried on his shoulder like a little boy and momentarily let himself actually relive a childhood that was robbed of him. Your brother felt guilty soiling his expensive turtle neck with his blood, tears, and snot, but Yves assured him that it was fine. As long as your brother promised to be there for you.
Eventually, he becomes... docile. He wouldn't be paranoid that you would abandon him for Yves. Even giving you and Yves space at times, which was a major breakthrough given your brother's history. Of course, he would still be unbearably affectionate towards you, spoiling you with gifts and love. But it has lessened to a reasonable degree, you wouldn't have to worry about dealing with an excess of shoes anymore, he stops his touches as soon as you feel upset. He learned how to read you more and Yves's calmness is rubbing off him.
Your brother wouldn't beat your dad to death anymore nor would he devastate your mother's self-esteem unprompted. He would become classier, either ignoring the infuriating comments made by your parents or looking to Yves to handle the situation calmly.
You were astonished when he would invite Yves over to hang out as a trio, he wasn't doing this out of malice, but out of genuine want. It was explained when you saw how your brother looked up to Yves, with such respect and admiration for him. As if it was a boy looking up to his strong, heroic father.
Yves is pleased with his work. He didn't have to ask him to share you anymore, your brother would willingly present his darling baby sister to Yves while he fucks off to do something else. He made sure not to get too greedy, though. Yves has to give you back to your brother at some point, or else he will start to get antsy and lose his allyship.
Yves is happy to learn that your brother is following in his footsteps. The reason why he gets to himself is because he is setting up his own data vault. He isn't going to spoon-feed your brother though, if he wants to dabble in this new hobby of his, he has to do his own research and recordings. Yves can give him tips and tricks, but he would never freely supply information about you just like that. Your brother has to earn it.
He could cross-examine and confirm or deny the data your brother collected, but that's all he's willing to do for him. He wouldn't let him step foot into his extensive underground library despite hinting to your brother about its existence.
The reason why he isn't stopping your brother is because Yves knows he will never be as good as him. Plus, it doesn't hurt to have a backup protector, there are times when Yves is swamped with work and can't effectively take care of you. He trusts that your brother will step up and take his place temporarily.
He knows your brother wouldn't betray Yves. He had cemented himself as the paternal figure he never had but always badly wanted. Your brother is constantly seeking his approval, he knows he would rather die than make Yves disappointed.
Yves took him under his wing because he didn't feel threatened. As your brother's love is unconditional but platonic. Yes, there might be some undesirable feelings he harbored toward you, but carrying it out and openly admitting to being an aspiring sister-fucker is greatly frowned upon. By both you and Yves.
Your brother wouldn't do that anymore. Not when he has everything to lose.
Yves thinks he's Alright. He appreciates the effort he puts into you and himself. Yves does see your brother as a junior, a son of sorts because he saw the potential. There is definitely some parental love that Yves held for your brother.
But, with that being said. Yves wouldn't hesitate to shoot him dead if your brother managed to defy his predictions and become a traitor. You are Yves's number-one priority, so if he hurts you, your brother has to go immediately.
Even if it means Yves has to shed a couple of tears of grief while carrying his lifeless body to his autopsy table. He was such a good kid, why did it have to turn out like this? When you're not with him, Yves would spend every second researching what went wrong, examining slices of his brain, and rechecking if there was any underlying illness that caused him to destroy such a great thing. He just has to know.
Why? Where did he go wrong?
Luckily though, that scenario has almost zero chance of happening. So the three of you could go on enjoying existence as an inseparable trio.
Your older brother is finally feeling fulfilled with you and Yves in his life.

What Little Remains
Chapter 2: Cooking by the Book
Ectoberhaunt 2024 Day 15: Science Fiction
AO3 Link Chapter 1 Link (read for context)
Summary: Dr. Reeden is considered a specialist in the technology for many reasons. The investors really should've expected this when they allowed them to join T.Z.A.P
Warnings: gore, human experimentation
Words: 3,045
After compiling the research and finally reading the papers they had obtained from the laboratory, Reeden needed a new pack of smokes. Those papers had been some of the most unscientific research papers Reeden had ever encountered, which was saying a lot considering their past working experience. But these papers in particular made them determined to create physical copies of the papers just to burn them with. They weren’t even an archaeologist like the other four people left on this team, but a geneticist who specialized in researching the humanoid genome throughout the past millennia and the resulting variation in humanoids and the occasional tangentials across the galaxy. Not quite archeology, in their opinion, but a type of genetic tracking a bit closer to the ancient discipline of paleontology instead. They had just wanted to get a good look at a pre-nuclear human genome for their latest paper, the original template would be invaluable for perspective. It was the only reason they had agreed to be on the T.Z.A.P team in the first place.
What had ended up in Reeden’s lap instead was a variation of tangential DNA sequence from before that branch of humanity even existed. Void of space, that would make the kid the first tangential, the first variation and deviation. Now they only wished they could figure out what the actual fuck was going on with the kid’s DNA sequence. There were at least two different sets, impossible in and of itself, with holes in each, where the other filled in, like some paradoxical basket weaving. But there were more holes, which neither set of DNA contained the answers to.
With the Head Doctor’s approval, Reeden had free access to most of the samples, not the core for obvious reasons, but the other genetic and biological ones were all they needed. They think the Doctor had put the intern on the unfortunate project of inspecting the core. From the other samples, they were able to reconstruct most of the boy’s DNA sequences with the D.R.C.R.A. (that Reeden was specially trained in) at the expense of only one of the intact vials. There were red blood cells mixed in with the… ectoplasm(?) the kid possessed. Each set contained the complete recipe for an entire being with only pieces of each actually being used. One was closer to what Reeden imagined the original human genome was like and the other was similar but based on ectoplasm instead of carbon. There was no transition between the two and no way the kid should’ve been able to switch between them… unless they were secretly hiding a form in-between.
Reeden practically leaped from their seat and pulled up that awful video, the final one of the set, and scrubbed through it, finding the exact timestamp where the kid switched forms. Then, writing it down on their hand, went back to the vials, intact and otherwise, any of the samples really. The in-between. That was where the missing DNA must be.
Reeden found one sample, ripped it open, and tossed the entire sample into the D.R.C.R.A. It was that ectoplasmic-isotopic solution that made their life that much easier, as it seemed to prevent the degradation of DNA unlike any other preservative Reeden had ever encountered. They powered up the machine and let it record the entire transition as the sample suddenly started to degrade after being removed from the solution. It switched from ectoplasmic to carbon and Reeden almost lost focus watching the visible reaction take place through the viewing window of the D.R.C.R.A. The machine slowly but surely began piecing the DNA sequences together, along with that they had already fed it. It would take a while, but Reeden could already see the third DNA sequence filling in the final gaps. They now had the complete recipe, as mixed up and convoluted as it was. It was an interesting challenge just putting it together, it made Reeden almost excited for the next part.
Reeden left their lab, intent to grab something with a resemblance to food and to see if the final piece was in place. They needed a break anyway. With the hiss of the door, Reeden entered the cafeteria and put in the code for their order. Just their luck, that one intern, Zavier(?) was sitting with his head on the table. The Head Doctor had taken a liking to the intern. She wouldn’t have let him work on this project otherwise. The kid wasn’t leaving her supervision any time soon.
Reeden dropped their tray with a metallic slap to the table, and the intern snapped his head up.
“Greetings. How goes it go with the glowy orb?” Reeden asked casually.
Zavier slowly lowered his head back to the table, shoulders shaking and muttering quietly to the point Reeden couldn’t make sense of it. That hadn’t been the reaction they’d been expecting. They’d intended to tease the intern a bit, but he already seemed ready to cry. That wouldn’t do at all.
“What is it? I can’t hear you.”
“It’s a brain in a jar,” Zavier whimpered, and Reeden stopped dead. “And that’s not even the worst part.”
Reeden blinked, slowly wrapping their head around what the intern had said. It made sense based on the ectoplasmic DNA sequence and the horrible papers, but actually facing the fact was a different matter.
“And what would be the ‘worst part’?”
“They're still alive in there. Dreaming, or some other kind of deep comatose, unconscious state, but they're still there, after over 3,000 Terran years.”
Reeden whistled under their breath, “Fattest nap of the ages, right there. Can’t imagine it’s been good for their mental state though,” they commented, “But that’s good, in its own way. Means we’ve got all the pieces to toss in the D.R.C.R.A.”
“What is that anyway? A D.R.C.R.A.?” Zavier asked.
“DNA Reader and Cellular Reconstruction Apparatus. It’s normally a piece of medical technology used to regrow limbs and organs, but with a talented geneticist like myself, it has other uses as well,” Reeden explained.
Sure, there were a few gray areas with the tech, especially with what the apparatus was originally designed for, and this was coming pretty damn close to its original use. Cloning was a messy and frankly pointless business overall. They weren’t particularly worried about the moral obligations of things. Was never their style.
“No way… that… you can’t use it to bring people back to life. That’s just-”
“Nope, you can’t make a complete person. It’s a body sure, but no one’s home. Basically a living corpse. That’s why it’s a good thing that the core is intact. Can’t really recreate something that’s built up over time. But with the core being a ‘brain in a jar’, we have all of the ingredients to cook by the book.”
“We’re really reviving them” Zavier gasped, stuck somewhere between awe and shock.
“Yep.”
Reeden wanted a smoke.
All five of the researchers on project “Phantom”, as it had been unofficially dubbed, were shoved into the operating room of the D.R.C.R.A. staring intently at the main chamber of the machine, the orb suspended in position.
“You know, this might be the first time an entire being has been reconstructed in this thing, right?” Someone commented. Reeden didn’t correct them.
“Then let’s make sure this event is properly recorded so that when I report it, our success will cushion the consequences,” the Head Doctor stated. Reeden grinned, they had figured as much.
“Wait, are we not approved to be doing this?” Zavier asked, a panicked expression on his face.
Reeden laughed, “I think this is more of a ‘forgiveness than permission’ sort of situation. Besides, they let us use the D.R.C.R.A. in the first place knowing I was here. With an opportunity like this, it would be a waste to do otherwise, approval or not.”
Reeden double-checked, making sure that everything was being recorded before beginning.
“My name is Doctor Reeden del Orcutus, lead geneticist of the Terra Zero Archeology Project. We are currently attempting to reconstruct an individual from circa 2000 AD Terra Zero after finding a complete and viable DNA sequence. However, the individual being reconstructed is not only a tangential, but possesses three separate DNA sequences, only one of which is carbon-based, while the others are ectoplasmically-based. This is the energy source of interest to the Terra Zero project. An attempt at ‘revival’ is being made after the discovery of an additional organ, functioning as a secondary brain, shown to contain the subject’s intact consciousness. Reviving and communicating with this individual aligns with the majority of T.Z.A.P’s goals and is now considered tantamount to the project.” Reeden stated for the recording, sure to include just enough logical evidence for if they were to get investigated later.
Their investors really shouldn’t have included this much wiggle room in the statement of T.Z.A.P's mission. Now they had a legal loophole to escape culpability. The Head Doctor kept them around for a reason, and it wasn’t just for their specialty or to steal their smokes every now and again.
“Beginning calibration for cellular reconstruction now.”
The D.R.C.R.A. gave a low thrum and the chamber inside slowly filled with light, sterilizing it in preparation for the initial regeneration. Reeden gave a cursory glance over to the supply tanks, checking to make sure that there were enough materials to make a full person. It wasn’t good to run out mid-way after all. It took forever to clean blood out of a machine this complicated. Luckily, everything was there, even the additional elements that had to be added for the multiple DNA sequences.
The machine pinged and Reeden gave a wide grin.
“Sanitation and calibration complete, beginning reconstruction.”
Danny awoke slowly. His entire body felt heavy, and his head clouded. There was a disconnect between what he was experiencing and what he expected. Something in his head denied it all, like this couldn’t be real. Danny couldn’t find it in himself to really care if it was real or not, just that he had a body, and heavy or not, he could move it. The experience seemed both novel and extremely foreign for reasons he couldn’t remember or palace.
Danny began slowly, twitching a finger, stretching his toes, and slowly readjusting each limb, until he built up to opening his eyes. He immediately closed them. Pins-and-needles spread to every part of Danny’s body and Danny let out a sharp breath. This caused him to start coughing. Everything hurt. Everything was so sensitive. He felt raw and exposed.
Danny squinted his eyes, shielding them behind a hand, struggling just to hold his hand up. The light wasn’t that bright but his eyes struggled to adjust to it either way. With his other arm, Danny forced himself to sit up with a groan before placing his arm in his lap as he leaned against the headboard. Blurry eyes caught on his right hand in his lap. Something seemed… not right with that. He couldn’t remember what.
It took several more minutes for his eyes to finally allow him to see, and Danny glanced around the room. It was weird in a way he couldn't really place. ‘It was like if a hospital room was a furniture store display’, was the only way he could describe it. At least, Danny figured it was a hospital room, if one with a really weird feel to it. The gray color of the walls instead of the standard white or off-yellow didn’t help. It made the whole thing seem like a Twilight Zone episode with the monochrome pallet. Here Danny was, sitting in a strange hospital room, in a place he had no idea where, feeling really bugged out in his own skin, all by himself.
Danny took an additional moment to check himself over, something like panic causing him to sputter. He was fine. Not a single scratch or scar on him. He didn’t know why he expected any in the first place, or that the fact there were none at all weirded him out so much. He wasn’t supposed to be covered in scars. This was fine. He was okay.
There was a sound, a hydraulic kind of hiss, and Danny snapped to it, practically jumping in fright. The doorway was now open, the door sliding cleanly into the wall all on its own, a person standing behind it.
Danny would like to say he was the strangest person he had ever encountered, but somehow, he couldn’t seem to. He didn’t think he had encountered anyone weirder than the person with gray skin with matching ashy hair in front of him, but his lack of reaction left him uncertain. He felt like he was missing a lot of things, really.
The gray-skinned person blinked owlishly at him, leading to something of a staring contest before the stranger became flustered, digging through the pockets of a patch-covered lab coat and pulling out a handheld device before shoving it back into the coat pockets.
“Sorry!” He apologized. “We didn’t think you would be awake this early. We expected you’d be comatose for a week at least before waking up.”
Danny continued staring. He wasn’t shocked by the stranger's appearance and he decided that was the weirdest part. He couldn’t remember.
“How’d I get here?” Danny blurted.
The stranger paused, apparently not expecting the question. “Umm, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to tell you, so it might be better to save questions like… that until the Head Doctor and Dr. Reeden get here,” he explained. My name’s Zavier,” he added.
Danny wanted to ask more. He was forgetting something, a lot of something, and it freaked him out. But ‘Zavier’ couldn’t answer his questions.
There was a ping, and Zavier pulled out the device again, reading something on it. It almost looked like a cell phone, if cell phones were sleek bricks instead of being phone-shaped.
“Since you’re awake, we’d like to confirm a few things while the Head Doctor is on her way to answer your questions. Is that alright?”
Danny nodded. He found it weird that he had to be the one to confirm the questions. Usually, medical professionals just ask Jazz or his parents. Did that mean he was here alone?
“Okay. Your name is ‘Danny’, right? Also, what’s your last name?” Zavier began.
They didn’t know his name. Danny had definitely been brought here alone from… wherever he had been before.
“My name’s Danny Fenton,” he confirmed.
“Birth date?”
“June 14th, 1990.”
“Tests show that you’re around 17 years old, is that right?”
Danny blinked. That… that didn’t make sense.
“I… I’m 17?” Danny ended up asking instead.
Danny had some memories still intact, but he could for the life of him remember what he had been doing before. He was just about to start high school wasn’t he? If he was supposed to be 17, then that would’ve been years ago. Anything from that point forward was blank, while things from before that were blurry at best.
Zavier looked up from his device, frowning and meeting Danny’s eyes. Zavier’s eyes were a blue so pale that they almost blended into the whites of his eyes. It looked like he should be blind, but he met Danny’s gaze just fine and didn't seem to have any trouble reading on his weird phone.
“Some memory loss was to be expected but… but that’s a lot.”
Danny looked down at his own hands. They didn’t seem different, but were larger and slenderer than he remembered, despite not feeling like there was anything off with the proportions of his body. But he was three years older now. He was older than Jazz was, wasn’t he? No, Jazz would be 19, probably off at some fancy university doing whatever know-it-alls did there. (Something in his gut told him that wasn’t true, he ignored it). Danny wanted to go look in a mirror, just to see what he looked like.
“Do you know what happened?” Danny asked.
Zavier twitched, which was more than Danny had honestly expected. He looked nauseous at the thought, if anything. Something had happened, something really bad that was horrible enough that it made sense if Danny forgot.
“I… can’t tell you that, either.” The answer was expected enough.
The door hissed open a second time and two more people entered the room, both seeming older than Zavier by at least a decade, just from the way they carried themselves alone.
The first to enter was a shorter, round woman with skin so dark it was almost black, but having warmer hues to it than the cool greys of Zavier’s. Her hair clung tightly to her head before exploding out behind her in a dense orb of gray curls. Her lab coat was even more heavily decorated than Zavier’s as well, but she wore them like military badges instead of quirky patches. Following her was a person who looked like they had been pulled through a taffy machine, slender in every way, with a gaunt face and dark hair contrasting a pale complexion, like an inverse of the other two.
“Head Doctor, Doctor Reeden,” Zavier greeted.
The Head Doctor, the woman, who Danny assumed was in charge of everything, gave Zavier a quick nod before approaching Danny and looking over him. Danny fought the urge to squirm. Dr. Reeden snickered in the background. Once she was apparently satisfied, from a bag Danny hadn’t noticed when she walked in, she pulled out a thick binder and held it out to him. He just let it sit in his lap, unable to hold it up. It was heavy.
“It’s nice to meet you, Danny Fenton. Your existence here is groundbreaking and we have much to talk about, but first, welcome to the Terra Zero Archeology Project. Here’s the basics of what you need to know for a time 3,000 years after your own.”
If the binder hadn’t already been sitting in Danny’s lap, he would’ve dropped it.

Explain the Hibourverse why not?
Okay
Website -> https://hibourverse.com/
Truncated Synopsis:
The alternate history diverges around the time humanity was painting on cave walls. In the binary Spica system, about 260 light years away in Virgo, Spica A went supernova. After the cataclysm, the Spica system consisted of a rapidly spinning neutron star and what remained of Spica B. Descriptions of the nebula in Virgo date back to the very start of record keeping.
1960-2180 was a period of chaotic space expansion. Motivations varied, but soon humanity saw independent nation states in cislunar, Mars sphere, Jupiter, Saturn and everywhere in between. Fusion and fission power permitted humanity to thrive in the void, which was fortunate because...
In 2181 a relativistic impactor struck the North Atlantic. Originating from Virgo, the catastrophe eventually cost 2/3 of humanity both on and off planet. Many space nations barely survived the brief dark age that followed. Humanity scrambled to find footing in the solar system.
Luna and the gas giants emerged as concentrated spheres of humanity, with Luna retaining most surviving seats of Earth governments and the only military force. Industrialization resumed and reconstituted mega-corporations positioned themselves to profit off the impending growth.
Commercial empires, rivaling the power of many nation states, quickly developed the base of industry to build massive cities, constellations of ships and material infrastructure to push humanity beyond the biological baseline at the consumer level.
Brand specific babies found popularity as companies perfected genetic traits over multiple generations. Human divergence became a concern in the traditionalist systems of Luna, Jupiter and the Solar Empire. The outer solar system, facing rapid growth, began to isolate itself.
Political upheaval beyond Neptune required intervention, but Luna could never respond at such great distances, especially as the remote, fractured states of the high orbits began unifying. They called it the Kuiper Alliance, and transhumanism was a founding ideal.
The Alliance offered terms. Independence for the worlds at Neptune and beyond, the right to defense, the right to sustain those genomes who already existed... at the expense of a freeze on all further post-human development and a mutual defense policy... a check on Jupiter.
Denouncing perceived betrayal by Luna and the inner worlds, the Galilean Federation (Jupiter and all politically associated spheres) began rapid militarization and unification. The Federation made territorial claims owed from the early expansion era, prior to the loss of Earth.
Turbulent is the situation. The Kuiper Alliance, although massive, is fractured in it's response to Jupiter. Likewise the nations of Luna struggle to unify a response from the inner solar system as old allies cede to neutrality under the threat of a devastating war.
In the high orbits, the worlds of the Alliance are content to pursue their own diversified prosperity, expanding ever higher into the dark, abyssal Oort. It's from within these transhumanist cultures that stories of strange and consistent visions have permeated.
Originally thought to be the ravings of fringe society lunatics, these stories were lent credibility when it was discovered that clandestine, government and commercial organizations were contacting and tracking those affected, often at great expense.
Now, the public is on the lookout for sleeping or waking dreams with consistent themes. Images of neutron stars, an overwhelming presence and most unnerving of all... images of the North Atlantic impact of 2181. "The gods are among us" some people now say.
So here we are, somewhere between war, gods and an ever diluted destiny. The historic seat of humanity wanes. The cultures of Sol grow diverse and unsympathetic towards baseline. Jupiter fights for relevance and power.
And the eye of Virgo watches...
//There's about 400 years of alternate history (or ~20,000, depending on how you measure) crammed into one post!

do you think life and death exist as higher beings in your au? also, is there any character you think doesn't truly appreciate the life they have?
I do think they're not completely safe from death, though in their case it's primarily other gods which can be a threat. Similarly, they can also create life, whether by natural means (especially if they have physical forms capable of it, for example Grimm being able to bear offspring), or through magic.
This is actually something I was thinking about recently, so forgive me for going slightly off topic. I like the idea that the capability of creating or manipulating life is something that links the known essences together. The nightmare essence is an obvious case looking at Grimm, he's trapped in his realm so he uses it to create his form using what can best be summed up as "magic genetics". He modifies and writes it as if it was a DNA sequence almost. And I think this sort of ability would also be possible with other essences. In fact, both him and The Radiance were created through similar means by their father, and The Radiance continued it by creating the Moth Tribe from her dream essence.
Then there is soul (which I also call the soul essence in my AU to keep it consistent), and I do like the idea of Vyrm also using this kind of spell when he reduced his form. It makes sense, he changed his anatomy with this kind of "magic genome modification" ability, and then passed the modified traits onto his children, as if they were completely replaced. At the same time, traits which did not change his anatomy, such as his leucism, were left unmodified, and assuming he still carries a gene for the normal wyrm coloration (brown), it means that some of his children may not be leucistic. Asta, for instance, has brown fur patterns which are meant to be the brown wyrm colors. Though in Vyrm's case, since he wasn't born a god, I think it makes sense that the spell would use so much energy that he wouldn't be really able to modify it again while he still used soul magic.
This also ties nicely into White Lady's ability to create plant life, which I imagine works somewhat similarly. Unlike Vyrm, she is also capable of doing so consistently, though I'm sure there's also a big difference between creating plant life and completely rewriting your body plan to be smaller and more manageable, so what Vyrm did was still very impressive.
This leaves void as the last one (I'm still undecided whether I want to consider lifeblood its own essence in the AU), but even then this still applies to some extent. Void is definitely a bit of an outlier compared to the other essences, so the ability does not work the same. Still, though, it is able to animate lifeless objects and even imitate living things and recreate a biological-esque form, such was the case with the vessels.
---
Sorry for the tangent, I hope it at least offers some kind of response. As for the second question, let me think. Perhaps Tiso? Let me explain. I think he's the type to take life for granted, he puts little effort into building relationships, making meaningful connections, or just doing something good with his life. Most of the time he appears in Dirtmouth to cause trouble and he always acts like a jerk. In a lot of ways he's like Zote but Zote was able to find a friend in Holly, and being accepted into the Vyrm family started to change his perception a little. Tiso doesn't have that, at least just yet. He's skilled at fighting, even if he did get cold feet at the colosseum and didn't fight. I haven't explored his character much yet but I do think he has the capability to really do something great and find satisfaction in his life, he just hasn't done anything in that direction yet and instead is just wasting it by being a nuisance.
I'm not sure if this is the right answer, I actually haven't thought about any of the characters from this angle (well, I did with Vyrm, but he very much appreciates the chance he was given so he wouldn't fit here). But hey, random Tiso mention I suppose hahah

i HAVE to ask more about six tiles and slimecat. their strangeness is so captivating
OHHHHHHH OH, THE TILES. HOW MANY VERY TILES THERE ARE (SIX. THERE ARE SIX.) PERHAPS THERE MAY EVEN BE AN AMOUNT OF FLUIDS ON THESE TILES. HMM. MORE YOU SHALL RECEIVE. I HAVEN'T BEEN ROTATING THEM IN MY MIND FOR LONG SO NOTHING IS CONCRETE QUITE YET!
ANYWAY, UPON SIX TILES WAS BUILT PRETTY LATE IN THE ITERATOR TIMELINE AND THEIR CONSTRUCTION WAS VERY RUSHED WITH LOTS OF CORNERS CUT, THEIR CAN IS COMPARATIVELY TINY AND HAS NO CITY TO SPEAK OF. BASICALLY ANOTHER LAST-DITCH EFFORT BY THE ANCIENTS TO APPEAR TO CARE ABOUT THE FATE OF THE REST OF RAIN WORLD™'S INHABITANTS BEFORE THEY ALL DISSOLVED THEMSELVES IN VOID FLUID.
DUE IN NO SMALL PART TO THEIR SHODDY FABRICATION, TILES BECAME HORRIFIED BY THEIR OWN EXISTENCE PRETTY INSTANTLY AFTER BEING PUT ONLINE AND, BEING LEFT MOSTLY UNSUPERVISED, SET ABOUT REWRITING THEIR OWN GENOME; HOWEVER NOT TO OVERCOME THE SELF-DESTRUCTION TABOO. INSTEAD, 49LBS OF SEMEN UPON SIX TILES SOUGHT TO DELETE MOST OF THEIR PRIMING DATA AND KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR PURPOSE, WHICH WHILE BEING NO SMALL FEAT, WAS SIGNIFICANTLY EASIER THAN JUST CROSSING THEMSELVES OUT.
THE WHOLE PROCESS WAS RATHER STRENUOUS (AND VERY DAMAGING) ON THEIR ALREADY LACKLUSTER MENTAL FACULTIES BUT WAS ULTIMATELY SUCCESSFUL, AND UPON SIX TILES NOW SPENDS THEIR DAYS BLISSFULLY IGNORANT AND ENDLESSLY AMUSED BY SEXY MUSHROOM :) PAST TILES EVEN PUT MEASURES IN PLACE TO PREVENT THEM FROM STUMBLING ACROSS ANY POTENTIALLY INPLEASANT REVELATIONS, HOW KIND!
THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY CYCLE.
ALSO, "FUN" DESIGN FACT! UPON SIX TILES' MARKINGS ARE A REFERENCE TO THE ACT OF TREPANATION, WITH WHICH I AM SLIGHTLY OBSESSED WITH
AS FOR SLIMECAT, THEY'RE ESSENTIALLY SENTIENT MOULD (THOUGH NOT SLIME MOULD! COOLER THAN SLIME MOULD… SILLIER THAN SLIME MOULD…) THAT GATHERED IN TILES' STRUCTURE DURING THE WHOLE GENOME-REWRITING EXCURSION. THEY JUST HANG OUT AND DISSOLVE METALS WITH THEIR CAUSTIC COMPOSITION. IF YOU COULD ACTUALLY PLAY AS SLIMECAT THEY WOULD HAVE THE SLOWEST WALK SPEED IMAGINABLE BUT RIVULET LEVEL SLIDES SO YOU'RE FORCED TO WIGGLE AROUND EVERYWHERE AGHAHAHHAHA
AHEM. THANKS FOR THE EXCUSE TO WRITE ALL THIS DOWN!
OH, AND IN CASE YOU WERE ASKING ABOUT TILES' NAME... ITS A STUPID JOKE BETWEEN ME AND SOME FRIENDS WHERE WE CAME UP WITH THE MOST RIDICULOUS ITERATOR NAMES POSSIBLE FOR OURSELVES :)

do YOU have a particular headcanon for how hunter got sick? think nsh did it (accidentally or on purpose)?
i've written about this before in my big boy headcanons post! you can find it here
but basically: at First my thoughts about that whole thing was that Hunter was always very susceptible to sicknesses. my headcanons haven't changed much even after the release of Downpour so- Hunter was one of the pups of a family of slugcats that weren't doing too well. they couldn't find enough food, their genome wasn't the healthiest one in the whole species, they got attacked by a lot of predators because of the food crisis- so on and on, just a real terrible streak of bad luck
so the family, not really knowing where else to go, had climbed up NSH's superstructure in hopes of finding a place of respite. once they've reached the top one of the pups, the weakest one (Hunter), was unfortunately already like two steps away from dying. as animals sometimes have to do, the parents decided to leave them behind (it wasn't easy, of course. but in such bad times...). the family visited NSH, he fed them (like Moon feeds Spear in canon) and pointed them towards the void sea (same ravine like in canon, i don't think there's been too many digs that deep tbh). it was A Direction to Somewhere far so they just decided to accept NSH's instructions
after they left, NSH noticed the number of pups didn't exactly match the first sighting of the family on top of his can vs them in his chamber so he sent out an Overseer to look for the missing little one. he found Hunter lying in a pipe, shallowly breathing. with the Overseer, he spurred and guided them to his chamber. they stumbled in practically already passed out, he caught them and set about righting them up. this was pretty recently after Moon's collapse here's a little snippet from a thing i was writing for it in 2021 and gave up on:
afterwards he cured them, fed them, warmed them up... and when they woke up and looked at him with wet eyes, fear and sadness reflecting in them, his metaphorical heart broke and he took them in and started raising them in a manner he'd be sure they wouldn't ever be helpless like that
to the point though: he never really fixed up their susceptibility to sicknesses. if the Rot is basically just strange cancer, my original thought from way back then was that Hunter's white cells simply failed at eliminating the cells that have gone bad. another stroke of bad luck, nothing more nothing less. a completely unremarkable thing and yet.. so impactful to those that cared (Nish, Moon even if she knew them only for a second, Pebbles had a big ass emotional soup to wade through when Hunter came to him too)
i had a conversation with sister like a month or so ago about Hunter and NSH, though. During it sis came up with the idea that neurons are Kind Of Uh Oh Radioactive! not radioactive enough to necessarily harm a slugcat while they are just passing through an iterator or eat a few of them, but prolonged exposure is gonna make the risk of a Rot Cancer rise up
and Hunter's green neuron is not a normal neuron either! it's basically a big chonky macho stronk boy full of strange shit wild enough to reawaken a whole iterator. so combine That fact with how long it most likely took for Hunter to get from NSH to Moon + my take of "susceptible to sicknesses" and you get the Big Ouch
NSH also totally forgot that neurons are radioactive, yeah, he was very focused on helping out Moon to remember it
silly bonus:
#Spot says stuff#rw#i do wanna say as well tho- i have more or less two sets of headcanons for a lot of stuff?#like this is a headcanon that exists for my personal happiness. if i were to go to my hardcore agreeable with canon headcanons i think-#-this would be somewhat different but i haven't figured out How quite yet. idgmlsamvlk i mostly think about those that make me happye

Where do you live in The Tectomancy Saga?
Pick what sounds nicest from the options below to find out which major settlement you live in from the world of The Tectomancy Saga!
Locations and descriptions unveiled below the cut!
1. Leirsham
You live in the ringed city of Leirsham, the human capital. It's built into a hilly island, raised out of Lake Simul a millenia ago by King Artol Tectus. The city falls in tiers, rings around the island divided by walls; The docks and storehouses; the merchants' district; the residential area; the academics district; the upper city, and the palace. As a hub of human trade and travel across the gigantic lake, it's always bustling!
2. The Genom University
The Genomic people take 'university city' very seriously. The entire city is a university filled with lecture halls and libraries and laboratories, where Genemos study hoping to attain their people's divine magic through rigorous scientific research. Its central feature is the archive, a library where all of Genomic history is stored - through the power of conjuration, this is quite literal. It is said that entire historic buildings can be summoned from the archive.
3. Ipurrol
Ipurrol lies in Versewelt, near the edge of the world. It was cut off from the rest of human civilisation 400 years ago, when a plague swept the land, turning its victims into various forms of bloodthirsty ghoul. Those who remain have learned to live with their condition and keep living on, rebuilding their community together. The Vismoores are the local nobles, who live alone in the castle that looms over the village - even among oddities, those two are odd.
4. Athyran
You live in the Alvian city of Athyran. On its surface, surrounded by desert, its grand architecture dazzles tourists, and baffles them by appearing to be abandoned; most of the city resides below the surface in cool caves, hidden by an illusion. The buildings extend below the earth, making it a forest of towers among glowing formations of crystals. Their cuisine is quite mushroom-heavy. This city represents the centre of the 'pattern' which Alvians bury their dead in across their lands.
5. North's Edge
North of human lands, in arctic tundra, wintery wastes, and snow-covered rocky mountains, the Droichs live in peaceful alliance with Dragons. The Dragons fled from humanity, their former allies, 900 years ago, and formed a partnership with Droichs. The Droichs mine to maintain the dragon's scales and hides with metal and stone; the Dragons serve as defence and transportation for the Droichs. They make their home nestled into a cave-pocked ravine, where Dragons and their Droichish riders gather around the fire together.
6. Hell
The Demonic city of Hell is far below the suface, near the very axis of the world. Its sloping side is marred with holes like a honeycomb, through which the swirling blue mists of the edge of the world creep. Lit by glowing plants and lava flows, the city is built into the rock like a warren, with only gothic spires and roofs peeking out above the ground. Due to the Demonic magic of enchantment, you have to be very careful who you talk to and what you say. Demons though, have this down to a fine art, and natter endlessly to each other.
7. The Hollow
Formally 'Colossus' Hollow', because it looks like a giant kicked a huge hole in a hill and people built a city there. Sat on the border between human lands and Alvian ones, and with a clear view to the Arboric Ocean, just about anyone and everyone could turn up there. With nobody quite able to lay a claim to its leadership, it is more-or-less ruled by an organised crime gang known as 'The Robes'. Their own operations take place in other cities, but their rules for everyone else just say "If you fuck this place up for everyone else, we're coming for your head."
8. Gorzlun Kudh
One of the largest Orken communities; its name means 'Risen City'. Made almost entirely of drenchwood, a form of moisture-resistant wood, it rises out of a great swamp on thick stilts. It is home to the Oracles, wizened Orken elders who have practised the art of future-sight for centuries. It is also home to the battle-mothers, and their endless raiding gangs of battle-sisters. Most older Orkus remember a time when it was not like this. They farmed, they relaxed, they made things with their hands, and they helped their neighbours. Maybe one day it'll be like that again.

What I like about their appearance: she has suchhh a gorgeous and solid design, i love her color palette and her hair and her OUTFIT. I LOVE YOU GOTHISH YUGIOH WOMEN
Do I prefer their dub names or original names? I LIKE BOTH AND USE 'EM INTERCHANGEABLY i think it's soo so charming when 5ds fics with the dub names have akiza use 'aki' as a nickname...
OTP: roseknight is so fucking good i want her and sherry to make out sloppy style. (yusei/aki and crow/aki also very sweet)
NOTP: GET SAYER AWAY FROM HER RIGHT NOWWWWWW
OT3: do kind of fuck with aki/crow/sherry lesbian polycule tbqh
Favourite card they use: BLACK ROSE DRAGONNNN god. one of the absolute coolest ace monsters (and thats stiff competition in 5ds especially!!) and leaps and bounds probably the coolest Main Yugioh Girl ace monster to me. i love this fucked up noodle-necked scary plant dragon so much. blows a kiss to my BRD figure.
Favourite moment they were in: i need to rewatch the dark signers arc cuz her duel with misty in the mirror maze goes fucking hard as hell. also when she summons BRD to save her and crow and sherry on the Ark Cradle!!! And it's like IMPLIED HER POWERS CAME BACK FOR THAT!??! ELABORATE MORE RIGHT NOW IMMEDIATELY.
Least favourite moment: they really made her crash her bike and lose her psychic powers and it sucked ass. LET HER BE A GODDAMN PSYCHIC TURBO DUELIST!!! also her suddenly like 'im gonna be a doctor ^_^' right at the end. not my favorite narrative choice. idk
Something I associate with them: Home Depot Garden Center <3

More RW & TOH crossovers
Iterators, leeeet’s gooooooo
Lore explanation and some othe thoughts (RW spoilers):
For those who don’t know. Iterators are huge computers with AI,they work on living matter aka microbes and use huge amounts of water to cool their systems (they are the reason why it’s rain in Rain World lol). They were made to solve the Great Problem, aka to to find a way to commit a permanent suic*ide for the Ancients. But the Ancients didn’t wait for the solution and used Void Fluid to erase themselves from the existance. And iterators were left alone, trying to solve unsolvable problem. And they couldn’t just use the Void Fluid to erase themselves too, cuz Ancints wrote Taboo for this in their gemome. They had a special signal if they find a solution - Tripple affirmative: affirmative that a solution has been found, affirmative that the solution is portable, and affirmative that a technical implementation is possible and generally applicable.
And one day one of the iterators - Sliver of Straw (Evelyn or Glance of the Ocean in the crossover) sent this affirmative. Everybody was very exited, but turned out than SoS is dead. Absolutely. And nobody knows what happen. Some decided that the solution was dangerous and killed her, sone thought that she didn’t find it and just died, and her dying system sent the signal by mistake. And some thought that death was the solution, that she has found a way to break the Taboo and kill herself. One of thothe who thought like that was Five Pebbles (Lilith or Five Lilies in the Crossover) and (probably) Seven Red Suns (Belos or Sever Sun Eclipses in the crossover). Pebbles decided to re-write part of his genome with the Taboo. He used many parallel processes and while it he used much more water than usual. And it could be not a broblem, but he had a neighbour - Looks to the Moon (Eda or Flying in the Night in the crossover), and they both used same water reservoir. So when Pebbles started using more water than usual, Moon didn’t have enough. And long story short, she collapsed. She tried to reach out to Pebbles and stop him, but she only ruined his work. Living matter of his systems was corrapted and turned into rot.
When Moon disappeared from local chats, other iterator, No Significant her (Caleb or Walking on the Edge in the crossover) decided to help Moon somehow, and sent Hunter (Hunter in crossover LOL) to LttM with a neuron, that could bring her back to live.
Phew. It’s much longer than I expected...
also I think Caleb and Philip can be Moon and Pebbles, and Eda and Lilith as NSH and 7RS. Or Caleb as SoS, since he’s dead, and SoS is dead too lol
Or Belos as NSH since he made Hunter (LOL) but his character? No way. Other way, Hunter can be Spearmaster (from DLC) or Wanderer (from RW Drought mod) (they created by 7RS). Well. When DLC will come out, I’ll see. Hehehe. Wanderer has jumps and Hunter has his dashes... it makes sence! But as I already know, Spermaster will suffer. Just what I like. So, Hunter as the Spearmaster? Maybe, maybe... and then it could be an AU with Huntlow since I already see Wilow as the Goumand, and I ship Spearmaster and Gourmand JSDOASKJKSDJKSSKS but eh
BUT HUNTER AS HUNTER STILL IS THE BEST THING FIGHT ME.

Lady Essiala Ariathia ban Vor'cle
No game this week, so a brief entry about Lady Essiala instead. Who is the lady behind this journal? Linked above or copy-pasted below.
Lady Essiala Ariathia Sorjiik den Morgenstern ban Vor’cle is the Navigator Primaris of the void-ship Gloriosa Lux Misericordiae Imperialis, a role she has held for just over a standard decade. She is a bookish and reserved woman who prefers the solitude of her library to the hubbub of human interactions, and uses her noble bearing as a mask to conceal her terrors and inner loneliness.
Child of Vor’cle
Essiala is a scion of House Vor’cle, an ancient and vaunted House of the Navis Nobilite that eschews sector and planetary politics in favour of broad-ranging interests and connections throughout the Imperium of Man, including at the very heights of power. Vor’cle Navigators guide ships of nobility, adepta of the mighty Adeptus Terra, Rogue Traders, and even the dreaded Inquisition. The House maintains its own fleet of void-clippers – fast courier voidcraft that crisscross Sectors, Segmenta and even the Imperium itself bearing information too dense, complex or secure to risk astropathic communication, as well as individuals wishing swift and unobtrusive transport across the stars.
She was born on one of these void-clippers, the lean and ancient Morgenstern, and is a child of an esteemed and stable gene-lineage that has been free of genomic instability for over a millenium. Children of the Sorjiik lineage tend to a greater height, leanness of build and paleness of skin than even most void-born, with many also possessing entirely black eyes well-suited to finding even the fainest of lights in the darkness of the void. Essiala shows all these traits and, like many children of her line, prefers her quarters set to lower local gravity and dimmer lumination than ship standard.
House Vor’cle is less hidebound than many great magisterial Houses of the Navis Nobilite who might rely on their breeding and connections to secure contracts of navigation. The Vor’cle instead educate their scions and inculcate a deep curiosity about the universe into them. They in turn record everything that they encounter on their long-ranging travels across and beyond the Imperium and send their reports back to the House archives, where they may be used to further the obectives of the House and its allies. This cavalier disregard for the virtue of ignorance has led to multiple long term feuds between the House and factions of the Ecclesiarchy.
Dark Apprenticeship
Decades of scholarship and apprenticeship taught Essiala well the lessons of her House. She served as a Navigatrix Tertius and learned the practicalities of navigation aboard multiple ships with distinction and no issue save for a short-lived daliance with a bright-eyed void-mistress that ended when Essiala ascended to the rank of Navigatrix Secundus and was assigned to the void-ship Revenance.
Her years aboard the Revenance took her into the Halo Stars beyond the frontiers of the Imperium. She saw strange aetheric phenomena and curious alien ruins, decimated remnants of fallen civilisations far older than that of Man, and steered the ship through terrible warp storms to find safe refuge in the light of the Astronomicon once more. An incident occured on one voyage where she had the honour of steering the ship while the Navigator Primaris was recovering from injuries following a skirmish with Orkish pirates. The ship’s Gellar field, likely suffering some minor damage in the prior engagement, fluctuated during a turbulent ana-surge within the Immaterium and something attempted to coalesce through the cracks into the Navis spire.
A shapeless darkness with a voice of ash and burning violet eyes appeared on before Essiala and begged for her to open disable the safeties on the Aciens Horrens, the heavily warded portal through which the Navigator views the Immaterium, and allow it inside. It offered power, knowledge, all the sweet temptations fit to lure her into obeying its pleas. She refused and, in a moment of righteous anger, tried to turn the power of her Third Eye on the blasphemous thing. The entity simply laughed in amusement and departed, leaving her with words.
“Such fire you have. And such fires you will see Beyond. Three and three and all will burn as bright as you. May they consume you by delightful degrees.”
Essiala found herself marked and shaken by this dreadful encounter. All food tastes of ash in her mouth and her dreams echo with the three-eyed entities mocking laughter. In response she threw herself into studying all she could find about such blasphemous foes, so that she might face and destroy the entity if she encountered it once more. And to this day she takes great care to maintain a personal shrine to the Emperor in her quarters, praying to Him on Earth and all His Saints each morning after a night of fitful, restless sleep.
Navigator of the Gloriosa Lux
The incident on the Revenance earned Essiala her elevation to the rank of full Navigatrix, after sufficient psychoexamination and deep testing to ensure that the entity had left no taint upon her soul. She was assigned to fulfil House Vor’cle’s contract of navigation with the Void-ghast Dynasty, an ancient rogue trader family now fallen from the heights of their past glories, and she assumed the duties of Navigator Primaris aboard the Void-ghast’s only true void-ship, the Sword-class frigate Gloriosa Lux Misericordiae Imperialis.
Lady Essiala worked well with the Gloriosa Lux and her Lord-Captain Eleazar Void-ghast, steering the vessel on nearly a dozen expeditions into into the wild space of the Koronus Expanse and bringing her home safely each time. Each voyage brought new wonders and new terrors, and always the subtlest hints of some meaning behind the words and the sinister laughter haunting her nightmares.
Lord Eleazar’s sudden and unexpected death upended everything. Gloriosa Lux was forced to return to anchorage, spending nearly a year in limbo waiting for the heir to the Dynasty, the Writ of Trade, and the Lord-Captaincy to be found. Essiala spent the time reading, writing notes for future memoirs, and attempting to make sense of her dreams. She could feel a pattern forming, though it was still too diffuse and subtle to fully grasp.
Finally, after interminable politics and delays of transit, Lazarus Void-ghast was declared Lord of the Dynasty and the Gloriosa Lux Misericordiae Imperialis has set sail once more into the Koronus Expanse…

Prokarya are the 3rd (out of 5) race of the filament. Prokarya are associated with the element of sepsis (it's my world I get to choose the system of classical elements. Fire, Void / Aether, Sepsis, Light, Flesh), and have the shortest lifespan of any race. They are highly communal, and will die if isolated from interaction with other prokarya or alternate sophont races. They tend to form communities (Cultures) around areas with high natural magic concentration, which is often hazardous to other organisms. They form very strong bonds, and despite their short lifespans tend to be very long-term in their thinking. Prokarya will almost always favor the community over the individual, and cultures will attempt mutualistic integration with other races if possible.
Prokarya communicate in sign language (language orthography pictured above), but can also communicate short messages to all other prokarya around them by releasing airborne signaling compounds.
Prokarya reproduce asexualy, but engage in sexual activity that can result in genetic material being inserted into the sexual partner's genome. Prokarya have a trimodal sexual dimorphism, but can sometimes change their sex (intentional or not) after sexual intercourse. This results in a relatively fluid conception of gender compared to other races, although still usually fitting into a gender trinary.

Share the information of your bird ancients rn or I'll steal your toes (silly)
i can't tell if you're prompting me for my ancient headcanons or my oc so i'm taking it as both actually.
starting with the ancients themselves:
their wings were clipped, growth-stunted or removed as a sort of prevention of the self-preservation of the fifth karma, because you would, of course, out of instinct, try to protect yourself with your wings if you had them. this ends up with a lot of phantom wing cases cause. yknow. you're supposed to have wings but they aren't there. so some managed to get their wings back but kept them hidden udner a cloak/cape or the like and only spread them when nobody else was looking or if they were around others who still had their wings or people they were close with.
the higher circles, of course, being the oh-so important bastards they are, never had their wings clipped, growth stunted or removed - but only the higher circles knew this because y'know. gotta lie to the lower circles so they don't have theirs. cause they don't have freedom. symbolism :) (<- normal about the symbolism of clipped/growth stunted/removed wings actualy(has phantom wing syndrome))
i dunno if they'd be like. natural or not. maybe some cities shared the genomes with eachother and they bioengineered themselves and over time they were more common because they were practical? but then later it turned into the whole.... clip them to how you aren't karma 5 etc etc .. u get my drift. probably.
if you want more about them i do need more specific prompts because. brain't
anyway. onto endless.
endless is actually connected to one of my friend's ocs - @pinkavtomation's shattered omens (hopefully you don't mind the mention - i know how absolutely normal both of them actually). they were an ancient that visited constantly them since they were a kid (unlike everyone else, because everyone else just stayed for a short time), so omens got to watch them grow up and grew close with them. omens was endless' only friend and they really enjoyed spending time with her, countless cycles spent just talking or enjoying eachothers company - at least until the mass ascension came around. at first endless tried endlessly (hah) arguing against ascending. they didn't want to. they kept getting their cerenomy pushed further back until they couldn't anymore, even though they weren't even close to the last ones ascending. they realised how futile it was to keep arguing and just gave up, not even bothering to say anything when it's mentioned, just giving a melancholic look before looking back away and covering themself with their wings.
at one point they did threaten to just fly away to not be ascended, but that was responded to by clipping their wings with void fluid so they would never grow back. an deventually, their time came to ascend. they pleaded for omens to do something- she was the iterator afterall, they would listen to her, wouldn't they?
but in the last moments, omens wasn't even watching with her overseers like she did with everyone else. endless tried to fight as they were lead to ascend, accidentally ascending one of the people forcing them to ascend too as they both fell in. endless fell in chest first, which left a large, tauntingly beautiful golden burn on their chest as an echo. omens only saw the last few seconds of their life - pleading with their face for something to be done. but nothing - omens didn't do anything.
endless at first, as an echo, was a bit bitter, that their closest and only friend did nothing to help them or stop anyone. they were distant, leaving small echo feathers (instead of scales!) on the distant perimiters of omens structure, and just far enough away for her overseers to catch glimpses of them. as time went on, endless got closer, letting omens' overseers see them for longer, and leaving feathers closer.
until one cycle, where endless has the courage to finally leave a feather in front of omens in her chamber. :)
also- whirl, if you wanna go further on this with omens- go fucking wild actually i love omens i love endless please im so glad theyre happy. the best of friends
#words on the wind#[hc rambles]#[ancients]#[oc rambles]#rw ancients#> endless sky looping sea#i am SO normal about omens and endless oh my voids

Uhhhh so. I can't draw, so please don't throw rocks at me 😅 is anyone gonna see this? DUNNO. But I'm throwing it into the void anyway
Behold: 4 cute babies for me to traumatize with my War on the Lamb AU
This AU wouldn't exist without @heketsbroodau and their amazing fics. Go read them! Literally right now! All of them! Every single one!!!!!!!
The general idea this WotL AU works with goes as follows:
- The demigod children of the bishops (cousins), quailing and listless in the wake of their parents' slaughter, decide to counter attack and wage war on the lamb for ruining their lives and killing the family they loved so dearly
- In each brood, one was voted amongst the siblings to take up the Crowns to use their power to lead the vengeance quest (because the crowns are at least partially sentient, I imagine that they vanished when their bearers died to keep themselves from being ceased)
- The children have mostly been raising themselves since the lamb destroyed... literally everything
- They're planning to essentially use one of themselves as a sacrifice: taking up the Red Crown and agreeing to be locked away in eternal banishment to prevent it from ever causing trouble and strife again
Though their ages when each Bishop died varies, they are in order: Adami, Ylindri, Phereo, and finally No Name. When Shamura dies, their ages go as follows: 19 (Adami), 14 (Ylindri), 12 (Phereo), No Name (9). When the story kicks off they'll all likely be in their 20s but I haven't decided fully yet.
Adami:
As the oldest amongst the cousins, she feels it is the duty of her and her siblings to look after the younger ones. She loves them all very much, every, single, one. She and her dad were really close, and though she didn't have his aptitude for magic she was a born scientist at heart. She was always tucked away in the temple labs, fussing with bacteria cultures and scribbling in her notebooks. Thoroughly enjoyed Kallamar's genetics hobby, and still has the the very first genome they ever wrote together memorized
When he died, she and her siblings all felt it. They heard the commotion and tried so, so hard to get to him, but Kallamar had cast a magic ward on the temple's inner sanctum, preventing his children from entering or even coming near, not trusting that Narinder's appetite for destruction wouldn't extend to his little ones. He was right, and only after he'd been dead for several hours did the barrier fade
Adami wrote her own speech for his funeral but was crying too hard to deliver it, so it fell to her older sibling to speak on her behalf. She was very much a daddy's girl, and prays at his shrine almost every day, wishing for a peaceful afterlife for him, begging her uncle to be kind (though she knows he won't be)
She splits the Blue Crown with one of her siblings: she's the best scientific mind they've got and is therefore excellent for inflicting biowarfare, but she's got -3 magical ability and so whenever there's need for mass healing or protective magic, it goes to her sibling
Would've probably become a very sweet, bubbly person if not for losing Kallamar. She's a lot more reserved these days, but is still generally pretty peppy when excited about something
Ylindri:
As mentioned above she's the most unbalanced of Shamura's children: meaning, while their domain is wisdom and war, she skewed heavily toward the first one. The majority of the spiderlings (eleven of them in total) are right in the middle, wielding their brains and brawn as one. There's only one other severe skew like Ylindri: her older sister, who's very skewed toward war
A scholar first and foremost, she spent countless days studying medicine and old divine texts trying to find a way to help her Lifegiver's brain damage. She regularly helped change their bandages
Worried they might forget them all, Ylindri wove her Lifegiver a special band of spider silk, which each of their names and a prayer for health delicately woven in. Her hope was that their love would stay with Shamura easier, and might help them feel better. Shamura wears it on their 4th wrist
In public Ylindri calls Shamura her Lifegiver, in private they are Ama
Very softspoken, and thoroughly heartbroken by Shamura's death. Tried to stop them from going to meet the lamb in the sanctum, but their mind had slipped again and Shamura didn't truly recognize her in that moment
Phereo:
Leshy's thirdborn child and second daughter. Is the only girl to have wings but has sworn off flying after Leshy's death
They were really close, and Leshy actually died while the children were in their first chrysallis (they're demigodlings. They undergo multiple metamorphoses in their lives), so when she emerged she and her siblings were greeted by the sorrowful Witness and the earth-shattering news that they had been orphaned
They preserved Leshy's remains so that his childreb could attend the funeral, but Phereo didn't go. She couldn't bear the thought. She was so terrified to make her chrysallis because everyone knows that girls don't have wings, and the only thing that got her to start spinning was her father's promise to be ready to recieve her when she'd emerged, and the whispered secret of, "You're just as I was. You'll be fine." After that, she doesn't want to appear in public, doesn't want anyone to see her, and spends all her time locked in her room mourning the loss of Leshy
She's got hardcore depression in wake of her dad's death. Everything is unstable and scary and she feels so lost and out of sorts. Years pass and her mental health stabilizes but doesn't improve: when the cousins start planning their war and how to defeat the Red Crown for good, she offers her body to the cause. She'll hsve to be banished and locked away, for all eternity. If it will avenge Leshy's death and let her go to a place where she can forget that she exists, then she's happy to do it
Someone get this worm therapy smh
No Name:
Someone seriously help me name him I've gone through like 5 names and none feel right 😭
The smallest, height wise and age wise. He hates it
This froggy is a MAMA'S BOY. He was very, very close with Heket, and loved her more than life itself. She was his mother, after all--there was no one in the world he loved more. The whole gaggle of froglets found Heket's still cooling corpse in the Temple sanctum, and just. Basically did Simba and mufasa. Just kinda snuggled against her and begged her to get up, to heal, to be ok
I don't have a whooole lot of development for him but he's generally pretty quiet and brooding. Very angy. Late teenage angst when thebwar starts but also his mom was murdered by the guy they're waging war on so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Regardless. He's not having a good time. Eats his feelings a lot and is quietly hoping the war kills him
Was voted among his siblings to bear the Yellow Crown and he despises it. It feels so wrong, like the desecration of his mother's memory, to have him stand in her place and wear that which rightfully belongs to her and no one else. Prays to the crown every morning before he puts it on, asking his mother's forgiveness and hoping to serve her memory well
#cult of the lamb#war on the lamb au#gonna make an effort to post some of the development here. i hsve Ideas™#sorry if this kinda sucks lmao im really high
