Note
Re parliement opening video, lot of people werent sure if the loud sound was saying "make way for the black rod".(traditional role and call phrase) If you go back a bit at 2:13:15 you can hear this phrase by a loud male voice but at 2:13:35 im pretty sure the voice is saying "get rid of markle"
I think it’s also “make way for black rod,” but they do sound similar.

This is Simone Veil, Tumblr.
She dies this Friday.
She was an heroine. A true strong woman who fought for the futur of all women in France.
She was an intellectual, a politician, a survivor, a sword and a shield for women’s rights when abortion was a shame. She was a witness of the true horror during the WWII but she was also the voice of the reconciliation. She was the voice of a hope for an harmony thanks to the UE. She was the first woman president of the european parliement. She won the right of abortion in spite of all the insults she could hear during her campaign.
She was a fighter and now she is - and forever- a french symbol, and an historical symbol that can inspired every woman in every country.
Thanks Simone Veil. Thank you for everything. You’re an example.
Please, if you didn’t know who was this amazing woman, Take a few minutes to read a short biography. Because she’s not only a french personality.
From a young french studient, and with the voice of all women that can be proud of their body, of their studies.
Thank you.

And then, the parliement decided to snooze that particular issue
Storyteller voice:
"and long and tiresome was the struggle to get sweden to have voting rights for all the people of the country.
And when the socialists had finished with that struggle, and were in the parliement, they looked upon the concept of monarchy, which they had promised to abolish and they said:
"eh, we can do that later"
And hit the snooze button on that issue. Now, a 100 years later, the socialist parties of the parliement and the liberals who also wanna abolish monarchy, have yet to stop hitting snooze on the issue
The moral of this story is:
"when you snooze something which will take alot of effort, beware you don't snooze for a 100+ years as SOME PEOPLE in the swedish parliement"

early 19th century sweden looking for a new monarch (Gustav III is as previously mentioned murdered, and the parliament had forced his heir to abdicate). now, the parliement ambassador steps forward to present the candidate to become king of sweden:
Well i was in the pub, drinking away my sorrows, because we could not find a single royal of europe who could accept to become king of sweden. why not? is it because we murdered the old king, and then forced his heir to abdicate? i do not understand.
well! in such sad thoughts i was. but then angels started to sing. and my eyes layed upon this random general in napeolon army. and he told me:
“I will totally solve all swedens problems with all my money. pinkie swear. you want finland back from the russian empire? suuuuuure i will fix that. i am genius and did i mention RICH? ”
well anyway, it sounded good, when i sat there drunk as fuck, so here he is, our new king, Jean Baptiste Bernadotte!
*dead silence in the parliement*
end credits
Jean baptiste bernadotte lied about that: “he would start war with russia, and win back finland”. instead he just forced norway into a union with sweden, at gun point, for some damn reason. that honestly was the worst idea ever. like wtf Jean?
swedish parliement voice:
Jean, you went to war in the wrong direction!!!!!!!
(admin note: seriously what jean baptise did with norway was fucked up).

The Swedish Parliement during several points during the last 100 years
A parliementarian: Is it not strange that the official legal head over us all is the monarch? Honestly we should get to writing the monarchy a 100% out of the swedish constitution (=grundlagen).
The majority of the parliement: yes we SHOULD, but it is just so much work. Lets do that. Later.
A 100 hundred years of democracy later, and sweden remain a monarchy, despite having had a majority support of the abolishedment of the monarchy in the parliement for most of its democratic history.
Parliement voice: but like. So much work! To abolish monarchy? Also what if we lose votes??? Nah. We will do that later!

“ King Gustav III of Sweden. Ruler during the years 1771–1792 voice: ...”
I'd like to officially thank Verdi because he's the reason I even know about this
omg, there is a opera about the murder of Gustav III :O ? I had no idea! that is so ironic though, Gustav III would have loved that haha
Fun facts about Ankarström.
Ankarström was a member of the swedish nobility and part of a parliament conpiracy against the King Gustav III. the murder plot actually involved several members of parliament, but Ankarström was choosen for doing the killing.
After Gustav III murder the parliement (cause because of ankerström killing the king, the major power got back to the parliement as usual) decided to make an example of Ankarström, so they could spare the rest of the conpiracy members. So Ankarström was the only one ever punished for the murder plot.
well that was some backstabbing king murder plot buddies! Perhaps they should have done it a more the killing of ceasar style? all togheter ;)

South sweden 18th century nobility mp voice:
"interesting swedish dialect you got there prime minister, how come?"
Everyone who knew finnish in the parliement building
*facepalming*
Tbf on the topic of languages spoken in the historical swedish parliement
In the later half of the 18th century sweden had a prime minister (rikskansler) who apperntly spoke in his very own finnish/swedish creole to the parliement, so some finnish was defintly spoken in the Stockholm parliement through history
