Can anyone comment on the longevity of their squishies either regular or mochi? I'm interested in them but can't afford to replace them all the time. (Sorry if there is already a post about this)

There’s a bit of an older post here, anon: my squishy review post. But it’s been a while since I wrote that, so I think it’s time for a status update anyway!

(And don’t apologise, truly. There’s enough posts on this blog that it’s difficult to find anything if you’re not the person familiar with both tags and searchable terms used in the post. Expecting anyone not me or perhaps the mods - although I don’t expect them to have my familiarity with this blog, either - to find anything is an unfair ask.)

My personal experience with the cheap squishies is: not very in terms of longevity. The red apple I talk about in the linked post has reached a point where now the glued parts are peeling away from the unglued parts. I’m having to repatch it every single time I squeeze it, and I’m probably at a point where I should just coat the whole thing in PVA. The second, replacement apple has also had to be glued together, even though I don’t often use it (I’m trying to save it for when the first apple has completely died). I am aware that someone less particular about their things would probably not glue the apple together when it tears, meaning that it would long ago have needed replacement.

The other cheap squishies in that post are ones I use least, but they also now have nicks, splits and other imperfections that will likely turn into tears.

I also have two mochi squishies, and so far they haven’t developed any tears, but I use them least out of all my squishies. I just prefer the foam over the gel-like texture of the mochi squishies when it comes to squeezing. So I can’t provide a good long-term evaluation on these as I don’t use them enough to make a fair comparison.

In contrast, my SquishyFun squishy (the strawberry in the above post) hasn’t split or torn at all. It’s still in perfect condition. I’d really recommend this brand for being a nice balance between price and quality!

Some of the expensive squishies (especially the Vlampo ones) are really expensive. Like $20 AUD and up expensive, which I consider to be out of reach for most stimmers. I think, though, with squishies that it’s often a case of getting what you’re paying for, and purchasing one of the more middling-expensive squishies is a better investment in terms of getting a toy that holds up under use, because the very inexpensive squishies just don’t. I love them, but they’re not durable, especially not the way stimmers tend to use them.

I’m pretty sure they’re available on eBay as well, but I’ll direct you towards the SquishyFun squishies on Banggood - usually under $15 AUD.

The more inexpensive offerings include: cake (currently on half-price sale for $5.46 AUD), carrot ($6.83 AUD), the above strawberry ($6.83 AUD), banana (currently on sale for $2.72 AUD) and panda bun ($5.46 AUD). A couple of those are on really good sale at the moment and might be worth checking out, anon.

These didn’t come up in my search for geometric squishies (posts: one, two, three) which is a shame, because, save for the curved decorated tops, they’re the most cube-like squishies I’ve ever seen! They’re also among the more expensive squishies out there, however, so it might be worth waiting for a sale on these ones or using vouchers/points to make them a little more affordable.

Dimensions: no size dimensions are given, but the images on the listing page shows the squishy as taller than the width of the hand holding it and as wide as a curled-in/clenching hand. I’d say this is quite a large squishy.
