Even if it hurts to death

The air was thick with the weight of unsaid words as Y/n stood with her arms wrapped around herself, trying to shield herself from the cold—or maybe from the conversation she was about to have. Heeseung stood a few feet away, watching her with concern, the glow of streetlights casting shadows on his face.

“What’s going on?” he asked, his voice soft but tinged with worry. “You said we needed to talk.”

She couldn’t meet his gaze, her fingers nervously fidgeting with the hem of her jacket. Her heart pounded in her chest, the truth trapped in her throat. But she knew she couldn’t tell him. She couldn’t let him see her weakness, her illness. This had to be done.

“I...” she started, her voice breaking. She forced herself to look at him, her face hardened in a mask of indifference. “I don’t think this is working anymore.”

Heeseung blinked, confusion flashing across his face. “What are you talking about?”

She swallowed the lump in her throat, her words coming out harsher than she meant. “Us. I don’t love you anymore.”

Did I say those things without even meaning it?

His entire body seemed to freeze, disbelief flooding his eyes. “What? Where is this coming from?”

She turned away from him, tears burning at the edges of her eyes, but she forced herself to stay strong. “It’s just... I don’t feel the same way. I need space. We’ve been together too long, and I don’t want this anymore.”

He stepped forward, desperation creeping into his voice. “Don’t do this. You’re not serious.”

Her hands clenched into fists by her sides. Every word felt like a knife to her own heart. “I am serious. I’ve been feeling this way for a while. I just... I don’t love you, okay?”

My last lie

Even if it hurts to death

The pain in his eyes was unmistakable, and for a moment, she almost took it all back. She wanted to tell him everything—the diagnosis, the treatments, the reason she had to let him go. But instead, she stood her ground, staring down at her feet to avoid the heartbreak on his face.

He let out a shaky breath, his voice low and strained. “I don’t believe you. You’re lying.”

You told me to take back

the words I spit out

She bit her lip, shaking her head. “I’m not lying. It’s better this way. You deserve someone who actually cares.”

It’s alright if you leave me

I want you to be happy

The words felt poisonous, and she wished she could take them back as soon as they left her lips. His face twisted in anger, the heartbreak giving way to fury.

“Better for who?” he snapped, his voice trembling with emotion. “You think you can just throw everything away like this and act like it doesn’t matter? That I don’t matter?”

She flinched at the venom in his tone, her chest tightening. “It’s better for both of us. You’ll move on. You’ll be happier without me.”

His hands clenched at his sides, his face a mixture of pain and rage. “You’re selfish. You’re a coward. After everything, this is how you end it? Like I never meant anything to you?”

Her heart shattered at his words, but she couldn’t let him know the truth. She had to protect him from what was coming. “Just go,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “Please.”

He stared at her for a moment, his eyes searching hers for any sign of the girl he loved—the girl who once promised him everything. But all he saw was a stranger.

“Fine,” he spat, stepping back. “If this is what you want, then I’ll go. But don’t come back. I’ll hate you forever.”

His words cut through her like glass, but she stood there, frozen, as he turned and walked away, his footsteps heavy on the pavement. Each step felt like it was dragging her heart further into the ground.

She watched him disappear into the night, tears streaming down her face, her body trembling. She couldn’t stop the sob that escaped her lips, her knees buckling as the weight of what she had just done crushed her. Her heart broke into a million pieces, shattered by the lies she had told to protect him.

And now, he was gone. Forever.

the red string of fate in kpop

A definition:  The two people connected by the red string are destined for each other, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. No matter what happens, they will always find their way back together. The concept is similar to that of soulmates.

1. VIXX LR - Whisper

In the MV, Ravi is seen alone, following tangled strings that eventually lead him to Leo. They unite in a couple dance. At the end of the MV, the two are tied together by a red and blue string.

2. Seventeen Jun & The8 - My I

Throughout the entire dance, The8 and Jun are tied together. No matter how many times they twist or fold the cloth, they are still connected. Although their cloth isn’t red, this still embodies the concept of the red string of fate perfectly.

3. WayV/NCT Ten & Winwin - Lovely (dance cover)

(although it can be argued that this is Cpop, because both Winwin and Ten were promoting as a part of WayV at this time, both are part of NCT, and so are included on the list) 

At the beginning of the dance both the dancers as well as the trees were separated, but at the end, Winwin hugs Ten, joining them together, and the trees are bound, tied together by a red string.

4. VIXX - Depend On Me

(a similar situation to above, although the song is in Japanese, I am still adding it because the artists singing the song are Korean)

The red string is seen as a motif throughout the video, and is also briefly mentioned in the lyrics by saying “untying or cutting the string that entwines us is up to me.” This is echoed in the MV when Hongbin physically beaks the strings.

Something of interest to me is that excluding Depend on Me, the pairs tied together by the red string of fate are not straight. If I missed any, please add it to the post!

Song of the Day - March 14, 2019

Leo - Feel Love

[M] When I seen that Leo had released a track as part of the same project that Nam Taehyun had released his song Black I was excited to see what Leo’s contribution to the project was and I am glad I looked it up. Feel Love is a great upbeat track from Leo and I have caught myself listening to it over and over again in the past few days. Leo’s voice is amazing and I love listening to his singing and I am so glad he has been part of so many solo projects this past year. I think Feel Love is easily one of my favourite Leo tracks! 

[S] I really do not like Leo but I am trying to go into this with an open mind and right from the first few seconds of the song I am feeling hopeful because I really dislike Leo’s ballads so I am excited that this does not seem to be one I actually find myself liking this song it is not at all what I expected and can see myself coming back to listen to it again in the future even with my dislike of Leo he did really good with this song.

[C] When I seen this I was expecting a ballad but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I really like Leo’s voice and he’s good for ballads but it’s nice to hear him doing something more upbeat. I could definitely get used to this Leo so let’s hope it stick around in the future. I’m going to go download this track now.
