I was a teenager, what did I know, everyone hates puberty, it’s just growing pains.” The anger is palpable, stirring the air. More of that kinship light flickers in Rainier’s chest. “And it didn’t matter in the end anyway.” “Why not?” A laugh, a broken sound, like a snapped wrist. Vivien drops his head to his knees. “Because he died. I Pacted myself and then he fucking died. He couldn’t stand to be around me any more than the rest of my family.”

“He can’t survive without me,” Vivien whispers into the black-beyond-black. He can’t see the webs, but he can feel them.

The air grows thick and humid. It’s hard to draw breath; Vivien’s head starts to spin, he can hardly stay upright. Then, as suddenly as it came, it goes. Cool air, calm room. He sits back on his heels, pins and needles tingling in his legs. He shakes his arm, and the cut heals itself shut, leaving only a thin, black line.

The night’s cool and clear, quiet for where he is. In daylight, the city centre is abuzz, crowded, the kind of loud that makes his skin crawl. Above him, the bus-stop light flickers in madman’s morse-code, unintelligible. His knee bounces, all nervous energy.

What is your favorite season and why?

i like autumn. it’s not so hot, and no-one bothers you as much about long sleeves and stuff, and it’s just more comfortable to exist. i hate the end of it though, i hate November. too much bad shit happens in November.

Do you believe in ghosts?

i don’t think there are ghosts, but there are hauntings. people haunt places. haunt other people. just because they’re dead doesn’t mean they’re not still there, even though they’re gone in all the ways that actually matter.

Do you prefer coffee or tea? Why?

i don’t like either, except if it’s Rainier’s coffee. he has good taste in coffee, and it tastes okay when i drink that stuff. everything else is garbage and the smell always gets in my nose and won’t leave and it’s disgusting.

WIP: Marvel's Champions V.2

I suppose that I might as well continue working on this, even if (last I checked) Ms. Marvel's been killed and replaced with a boot-licking X-m*n prop. Since the last iteration of this, I've added Viv and Ironheart in the upper corner and subjected Ms. Marvel and Spider-man to some simple rendering. Nova, meanwhile, was about there already because of how his costume works.
