With jobs lost once more, #parents are locked in at home once again, forced to sit with their #fears and worries about the #crisis they are facing all day. 🧵In the slum #community in Maharashtra Nagar, we networked with Good Shepherd NGO and offered their online #tailoring lessons to #mothers in our community who had one working #smartphone at home. 💰These mothers got to switch their minds from worrying, and instead make some incredible #products with their new-found skills. Posted @withregram • @visionrescue 👉THEY helped #cremate a person from their slum community, whose family couldn’t afford the last-rites charges. ✌THEY helped a 65-year-old #abandoned lady from their slum community get hospitalised. 👉THEY raised money for the #cancer treatment of a teenage girl from their slum community. 💪THEY confronted the #blackmarketeering of LPG gas cylinders and stopped the fraud. WONDERING WHO IS “THEY” ? 👪THEY are 34 of our incredible Community Champions in the #Kalwa slum community who have banded together to servesociety in this time of nationwide #crisis! 🏛It’s been several years of investing and training this group of key #changemakers to bring about community #transformation. ✍📕They’ve spent hours with us learning about government #resources available to them, ways in which they can access what’s their rightful due, and today we’re witnessing #miracles because of these very Community Champions. 🍲In March 2020, when the #nation locked down to fight the coronavirus, it was these incredible people who went door to door delivering emergency #groceries to families in need at our request. ✋Today, they’re doing far above and beyond what we request because they see the #value in taking ownership of and transforming their own #community.
