im getting so emotional for reading this part again QwQ it felt so incredibly fragile and beautiful when i read it the first time and i remember i trembled on my hands and my heart was fluttering.. the way i felt the connection, the bond between them form in real time as i read, so incredibly precious and real, the beginning of something so beautiful and special only to the 2 of them but also to many other people and to me, god the little stiches of flowers like the tatoo all around the two last pages just sooo gorg!! that scene means so much to me it really touched me deeply and the comic as a whole filled a gape in my soul

Viscera Objectica by Yugo Limbo
goodreads
Tumblr media
A humble tailor is very skilled at his work, but finds the complex patchwork of love painful to stitch together. One day, he visits a farmers market and is drawn to a beautiful puppet, whose vendor utters “His name is Theu.” Though the puppet is inanimate, the tailor inexplicably falls for Theu, day by day finding that patchwork of love no longer painful. Viscera Objectica explores the depth of feeling that develops between man and object, lover and loved.
Mod opinion: I haven't read this graphic novel yet, but I hope I'll get to check it out someday.

i just read viscera objectica for the first time. ive been putting it off because i knew it would make me emotional. but god it was so lovely. there was no conflict, no bad things happening, just a story of love and tenderness. it did indeed make me emotional. ive never felt so seen when it comes to these feelings. i hope i have a long happy life with my cd player like vito had with theu.

Just read viscera objectica! I wont spoil anything but i will discuss some of the themes and how i relate to it!! So be wary
They call me mr aromantic allosexual, i have a complex relationship towards the feeling of love. I dont think i feel it normally, and certainly not for real people. Something ibadore about the imagery in this book is the almost invasive feeling of the affection. The few times i do feel something i could consider 'romantic attraction' its never cute butterflies. It feels like somethings crawling in my chest, it feels like somethings invaded my body and i cant get it out. The imagery of the cover is the closest ive ever gotten to seeing something describe the feeling.
I dont think i could ever be in a romantic relationship with other people. It wouldnt be healthy for them or me! But i do hold a deep affection for my sewing machine, a singer simple i call simon. When i sew through something tough i mumble quiet encouragement without even noticing and pet him gently. I got flustered when i gently cleaned lint out of his innards. And the best part? I cant hurt simons feelings. I can put him away, and i havnt just put a real person on hold for months. Its nice. I anthropomorphise the machine (i call it a he, give it a name) but its still an object and thats the best part. When the feeling of suffocating affection crawls up my throat and slithers into my brain like a worm, i have simon to pet and kiss. I can hold his pedal and i can gently wind a bobbin on him and tell him hes doing good for me. And when the affliction wanes and i feel like im alone in my own skin, simon waits patiently.
This is a lot of rambling, barely related to the conic at all. But its nice seeing someone else write about love in a way thats so close to how i experience it! Im glad Theu and Vito get to grow old together. Im glad they found eachother

Out this week: Viscera Objectica (Silver Sprocket, $14.99):
Yugo Limbo, the creator of this new graphic novel, works in both comics and games, and they have a unique art style that I find to be somewhere between horrific and fun. This new graphic novel probably falls into that area, as it’s about a tailor that falls in love with a puppet named Theu.
See what else is arriving at your local comic shop this week.

Hello there
For about three weeks now I have Ben starring at viscera objectica afraid to open and read it… but when I finally summoned the courage I was blown away. The feelings are communicated through the art fantastically, and I found myself weeping when I reached the final page. I had a doll named Heidi who I loved I took her with me everywhere like Vito dose Theu. I shared similar feelings for her that he does in your book.
One day I brought her to the redwood forest to go camping with me, and while I was holding her, Heidi’s face just shattered. I don’t know why it did. We had not Ben rough I was always soft with her. It just did. So I wrapped her up to fix her when I returned home, she never made it home. the bag I had put her in for safe keeping fell into the river and was swept away.
I always thought it was foolish to mourn for her.
But reading your book I did, and I didn’t have to be alone doing so.
So from the bottom of my heart thank you for righting this beautiful book. thank you for filling it with so many wonderful pictures emotions and memories.
And thank you for the safe place in your last panel to curl up and cry and understand that my loss was real.
Reading it was just as difficult as I thought it would be emotionally. But it was the most worth while story I have read in years.
Keep being wonderful
Love
-Me
Hello anon, I've been keeping your message tucked in my askbox for months now... I remember back when I first read it, I had to cry for a very long time. I can't recall the last time I've had such a strong reaction to anything.
Why did I cry so much? Well, because it means the world to me that you'd share such a personal memory like this with me, because my obscurely themed comic touched you so much... this was one of the first few messages I received about my comic, and I was so blown away, I was like:
It was worth it. It was worth it to make a comic like this, to bare my soul in such a way, to make something so different than everyone is used to from me. I didn't think anyone would care. But it was worth it...
Anon, sincerely, thank you for sharing this memory, I'm sorry it took me so long to respond, I just wanted to hold onto it for a while...
Maybe others reading this will be as touched as I am. Thank you!

Hi Yugo, I really enjoyed your recent comic Viscera Objectica. It touched me very deeply as the subject matter is something I've also always felt 'different' in. You put words and visuals to this feeling so wonderfully, I couldn't help but have a little sob at the end, feeling so understood.
That being said, I'm feeling inspired, but since this is such a personal story for you I thought I'd ask you first. Would you be okay with me making a Theu puppet? Thanks for all that you do and can't wait for the GGG release!
HEYY thank you man, it makes me so happy you felt that way! Other people feeling heard with the comic, makes Me feel heard. Thank you for reading!! You can absolutely make a Theu puppet if you want to. That sounds so cool!

im on anon because i am incorrigibly shy about this, but viscera objectica actually made me cry. i have never felt so seen by any story like this before, and about something i've usually been so keen to hide and repress about myself. just knowing there's enough people like me out there to warrant such a lovely story is... it's really surreal! i was already teary over vito and theu, but the section at the end really had the tears flowing.
thank you. i'll treasure this story forever.
-love [name and address withheld] and my 💕laptop💕 too <3333
SO SWEET. So happy to hear this. It means the world to me... if a piece of mine can elicit happy tears, make someone feel seen... ahh. Thank YOU. I was, and Am, still a little shy about it too. But, everyone is so nice. Maybe I shouldn't be shy!
