TIA Visa Policy South Africa
Dear Sir/Madam
My husband and I entered South Africa in early May and enjoyed our time here with the 90 day Visa. We then left for Namibia in August. From there we traveled to Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
We wanted to return to South Africa so visited the High Commission in Kigali to enquire about the Visa policy. We were informed that it was updated on September 4 2019 and that there was no restriction for Australians and that we’d be granted another 90 visa.
We wanted to be absolutely sure of this before booking any flights. So the lady from the High Commission double checked for me and sent me confirmation emails and WhatsApp messages.
We then booked our flights to Lusaka and then bussed our way back to South Africa through Botswana.
We entered South Africa through the Martins Drift Border Post on Friday afternoon November 1st.
The immigration officials at the border told us we were only eligible for 7 days. When we explained to them that we were informed in Kigali that we’d be granted 90 days they gave us a stamp for 35 days. They informed us to go to any home office in Johannesburg for assistance.
We did this yesterday in Edenvale only to be told that we need to go to the VFS Global office in Rivonia.
We need clear assistance and instructions with this. We plan to leave South Africa again and visit Lesotho and Mozambique but fear the uncertainty of advice we’re receiving.
Our flights back to Australia are on February 4 next year so this presents a problem for us. We were hoping to spend Christmas here with friends.

Working under the overall supervision of the Regional Director and the direct supervision of IOM Nigeria Chief of Mission and with direct technical support from the Regional Thematic Specialist for the Immigration and Border Management (IBM) Division, the successful candidate will be responsible for: providing substantive expert technical support to, and direct management of, the full portfolio of IOM Nigeria IBM projects; development of new concepts and new projects for that portfolio in close collaboration with key Nigerian government partners and with the donor community; monitoring and analysis of national and trans-national trends relevant to the IOM Nigeria IBM portfolio; and, contributing Nigerian perspective and support to regional IBM projects affecting Nigeria.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Act as the IBM expert resource for the IOM Mission in Nigeria, contributing to all programming and Mission consultations relevant to the IBM portfolio, including areas related to border management, travel and identity documents, biometrics in the migration sector, training and organizational development for government capacity building, and related areas. Actively contribute that expertise to project development and implementation.
Directly manage all programmatic and financial aspects of IOM Nigeria IBM projects, which together constitute the IOM Nigeria IBM programme, including direct responsibility for supervision of Mission staff and consultants working in that portfolio: ensuring close cooperation with all partners, guiding projects to successful and timely conclusion, applying quality control to all aspects of the various projects’ implementation, ensuring timely and accurate donor reporting and maximum donor/partner visibility.
Actively mentor and build the capacities of IOM Nigeria staff in the thematic area.
Lead in the development, implementation and monitoring IOM Nigeria’s IBM strategy, link and seek synergies between the Mission strategy and IOM’s regional and global IBM strategies, relevant strategies of other UN agencies, and donor/partners’ national, regional and trans-regional strategies.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Experience in the field of migration issues, including operational and field experience, IOM project development, and management;
• Strong background in border management (including border management technologies), travel and identity documents, biometric applications in the migration sector, and related areas;
• Experience of running large IBM projects and programmes, delivering IBM-related trainings/ workshops to Government officials desirable;
• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national/international institutions and NGOs;
• Good knowledge of IOM project financial management procedures and tools;
• Extensive work experience with Government or an International Organization in the thematic area;

Apply for tour support to Concerts SA now
Planning a music tour but unsure how to fund it? Apply to Concerts SA’s Music Mobility Fund: Applications deadline: Sunday 26 February 2017.
This tour funding mechanism offers opportunities for professional South African musicians to undertake live music tours in South Africa as well as other Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries. The fund provides support to live music performances, collaborations and performance-based workshops.
Following the success of the five previous rounds of funding, applications are now open for the first iteration of Music Mobility Fund disbursements this year. The deadline for submissions is Sunday 26 February 2017, and tours should take place between late March 2017 and 15th June 2017.
The Fund is administered by Concerts SA, a joint South African/Norwegian project housed within The SAMRO Foundation. Working with musicians, promoters, venue owners and music sector stakeholders, the project aims to build a vibrant and viable live music circuit in southern Africa. It also seeks to develop an interest in and appreciation of live music by showcasing music performances and conducting workshops at schools.
Since it was initiated in 2013, the Music Mobility Fund has received almost 600 applications and supported more than 110 tours with artists like Tlokwe Sehume, Lindiwe Maxolo, Benjamin Jeptha, Wendy Oldfield, The Rudimentals and Tu Nokwe.
More than 500 musicians have successfully toured across the 9 South African provinces as well as 9 countries in southern Africa (Botswana, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia), playing almost 600 shows to over 40 000 people, spanning genres from jazz to indigenous music, from folk to hip-hop and kwaito.
Bonj Mpanza, vocalist of Future Afro band TheCITY, reflects on their latest tour: “Our personal and professional growth in our recent tour to Tanzania involved dealing with challenging circumstances while still offering the best performances we could. After the tour, we are definitely more efficient and equipped to deal with any situation than before the tour. Now that we know which venues, festivals and promoters are worthwhile from either a financial or strategic viewpoint, we could organise a tour focusing only on the performances that would have the most impact. This was our first international tour and seeing people connect to our music so far from home was an amazing experience. Afforded the privilege of experiencing the beautiful country and culture through music has been an unforgettable experience which we will treasure forever. What a privilege to be able to grow friendship and human connection through music!”
Designed to help musicians, music industry professionals and organisations build on already established domestic success and develop connections, markets and audiences for their work, the fund provides support towards travel and transportation, as well as per diems, material costs (hiring of backline and sound equipment), accommodation, artwork design, travel insurance and visas.
Reflecting on the assistance that he has received from Music Mobility Fund, folk artist Joel Karabo Elliott says: “The JKE Roots Grown Deep journey into Limpopo in October 2016 was a remarkable experience for the ensemble and the people we touched. We travelled with seven artists—six musicians plus one photographer. The financial support from Concerts SA (CSA) was critical to the success of the tour. CSA funds were used primarily to transport, feed and accommodate the ensemble. We could not have otherwise done such a tour into the rural areas where people generally do not have money to spend on music, and where live music performance has almost no professional traction. We give deepest thanks to the CSA initiative and all the partners and investors who make the project possible. Thank you for helping to keep roots music alive in South Africa and for letting us take it into our precious villages and homesteads.”
Among the projects that may be financed are tours and concerts, including regional, national or provincial tours, as well as performances at festivals and showcases. The Music Mobility Fund also funds artistic collaborations with merit among musicians based in different provinces of South Africa or SADC countries. Each project must be between four days and three months in duration.
National Projects
Artists from all provinces are invited to apply for national projects taking place in any South African province(s). The bulk of the activities must take place outside the province where the artist is based. The tour schedule must include one activity in either Gauteng, the Western Cape or KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants may request up to R30 000.
Regional Projects
Regional projects must take place in one or more of the following SADC countries: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. While activities in South Africa may be included as part of regional projects, the bulk of the activities must take place outside of South Africa. Applicants will need to conduct their own research and have identified and communicated with a potential partner or host. The partner may be an individual or organisation and must be an established musician or music professional, and must be based in the SADC country (or countries) where the project will take place. Applicants may request up to R45,000.

Applicants should complete the application form in English, and submit it by Sunday 26 February 2017, including the following mandatory documents: legal documentation of the applicant (ID/passport copy for individuals and organisation representatives; company registration documents); track record (media coverage, website links, evidence of recognition awards, public appearances or residencies, CV, biography, etc.); budget of the project (including projected income and expenditure); and a calendar of activities with tour schedule. SADC regional projects must include a letter from the local host confirming their support and involvement.

What is a Travel Visa?
A travel visa is an authorization that permits a traveler to visit one certain country, usually in the form of a sticker document affixed to a passport page or a stamp also placed in one of a passport pages. Each country has its own visa policy. To get a travel visa you must apply at the office of the immigration authorities of the country you are planning to visit. In cases when your destination country does not have a consulate or embassy in your home country, you will have to obtain a travel visa at the embassy of another country which is authorized to issue visas for the country you will to visit.

How to Apply for a Visa?
To apply for any visa in the world, you must go through the steps outlined below: Step I – Figure out what kind of visa you need It will be simple to find out what visa you need if you are going to visit a particular country for common reasons like medical purposes or for tourism. However, some countries, as the USA, have a lot of visa types. Some of these visa types have their own categories and subcategories. It is crucial to apply for the right visa in order to have a successful application. If you do everything correctly, but you apply under the wrong visa category, most probably, your application will automatically be rejected. Step II – Find out where you need to apply Some people think that they just need to submit the application at the embassy of the country they plan to visit and that’s it. However, things are a bit more complicated. Since in some states, the same country has more than one representation body (consulates), often each of these bodies have their jurisdiction area. You will have to apply at the body under the jurisdiction of which, the area where you live falls. On the other hand, embassies and consulates often outsource visa submission to the embassy of another country or other parties that offer visa services. Step IV – Book an appointment Most of the embassies have made it possible for visa applicants to book an appointment online. However, in case such a service is not offered in your country or by the country you wish to visit, you will have to book it in person. What is a Travel Visa?

Context:
Under the direct supervision of the Resource Management Officer in Abuja, Nigeria, and the overall supervision by the Chief of Mission (COM), the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for coordinating the financial and/or budgetary functions of the Mission.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Assist in monitoring the financial management for all activities in the Mission including the oversight of financial expenditure and accountability; undertake financial analysis of projects in the Mission, monitor budget control, follow up implementation of effective internal control, design and functioning of the financial resources management system.
Provide support to project managers throughout the project cycle to ensure compliance with IOM’s policies and procedures and any donor specific requirements.
Ensure that accounting data are properly entered in PRISM, in accordance with IOM financial rules and practices, maintain accurate records of PRISM entries including hard copies of all vouchers and supporting documentation.
Assist in reviewing monthly accounting closure and returns to Panama for accuracy, ensure that these are submitted on timely manner and completed according to IOM Accounting Policies and Procedures.
Assist in preparation of annual budget for the mission and budgets for all new programs.
Inspect payroll versus budgets, ensuring that salaries are correctly allocated to projects consistent with IOM's projectization criteria.
Coordinate the preparation of project financial reports in accordance with IOM and donor regulations and established procedures.
Liaise with relevant units at HQs, Administrative Centres and Regional office with regard to the accounting and financial activities if the mission; provide inputs for reports on the financial situation of the mission and provide other information as required.
Assist in forecasting cash flows according to the activities in the Mission and ensuring daily control of funds disbursed; verify that funding is received in accordance with donor agreements.
Make recommendations on procedural improvements and assist in training staff in the areas of accounting and finance; and compliance to financial procedures. Facilitate and support knowledge building and sharing in finance/accounting and budget.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
• Professional certification as chartered accountant (CA) or certified public accountant (CPA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) will be a distinct advantage.
Experience

Assist the CoM with administrative, financial and management aspects of project development and donor liaison, including preparation of statistical analyses, regular narrative reports, communications, and presentations.
In close coordination with project managers, review current active projects in terms of stated objectives, outputs and impacts, and current monitoring and evaluation (M&E) strategies. Work with project and programme managers to establish a common M&E framework that incorporates regular reporting requirements and impact evaluation strategies.
Review existing datasets for each project and create or modify user-friendly databases that present data in an appropriate and accessible manner. Train staff in the use of data collection methods.
In collaboration with project managers, conduct retrospective impact evaluations for beneficiaries assisted through IOM’s programmes to assess subjective and objective impacts of IOM activities.
Document ongoing project activities through photography and multimedia presentations, in collaboration with the Media and Communications Unit and field staff. Prepare external communication products.
Pro-actively seek potential funding sources among government and non-government donors, in line with IOM’s overall strategy in the country
Liaise with diplomatic missions, national and international institutions, international and non-governmental organizations and other relevant partners and donors to discuss programme and project possibilities, coordinate and promote new activities and raise funds for new projects/ programmes.
Monitor compliance with donor regulations and obligations and follow up on meeting objectives within the agreed timeframe and budget; Coordinate contractual negotiations with donors and monitor the Mission's compliance with the Organization's related rules and policies.
Draft regular progress reports in line with IOM and donor formats for submission to donors and the HQs.
Represent IOM and participate at appropriate levels in seminars and other meetings aimed at developing new projects and programmes and promoting IOM's image and activities.
Undertake duty travel relating to liaison with counterparts and new programme development, as required.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights, International Affairs, Migration Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Experience in liaising with donors, governmental authorities, other national/international institutions and NGOs;
• Experience in preparing narrative and financial project reports, statements and/or projections;
• Demonstrated knowledge of project formulation, administration and evaluation techniques and practices;
• Strong skills in the development of log frames, result matrices and work plans;
• Preferably within the International Humanitarian Field and within the organizations of the UN Common System
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences;
• Good level of computer literacy, including database applications;
• Ability to supervise staff and coordinate administrative activities;
• Working experience in the region is an asset.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of any local language is an advantage.
