I loved watching Vero Boquete when she was playing in the NWSL. She was everywhere - chances out of nothing. I'm so sad I never got to see her play for her country. And so angry at why.

yes yes yes. it's so unfair to them as well being forced into making those choices for their health

and because how poorly mismanaged the team is, so much spanish talent flies under the radar and it hugely negatively impacts the development of spanish football as a whole from the league to the national team. it's been mismanaged it's whole existence from the 1980s and, until 2015, that resulted in no presence on an international stage. so many spanish players criminally underrated at their time:

vicky losada, virginia torrecilla, marta corredera, sonia bermúdez, adriana martín, lola gallardo to mention just a few off the top of my head (i know some are still playing but they didn't get the credit at their height because of how poorly the national team performed overall)
