So, I just finished Masters of Sex for the second time. The first time I watched all four seasons in about five days, and the second time (which I started immediately after the first) I took more time to focus on the plot more slowly.
God, I really love that show. I’m quite satisfied with the ending. I love how Bill and Virginia finally realized they could just be together and love each other. Will there be some hard times in their married life? Sure, that’s just how life is. But they’ll get through it together because they genuinely love each other.
What I loved most of all was probably Michael Sheen’s portrayal of Bill Masters. The huge character development Bill undergoes from season 1 to 4 is just insane. And Michael’s portrayal of Bill is everything throughout the series - handsome, hot, sexy, smart, and later also cute and tender. I’m just crushing so, so, so hard. Like, seriously. I want this guy to do everything to me, scold me, smile at me, kiss me, throw me against the wall, whatever.
I’m going to fangirl over him now for God knows how long.
Also, Bill Masters in a turtleneck is doing something to me.

Bill Master’s speech about love
Tumblr media
In 1687, Sir Isaac Newton discovered what was then known as the law of universal gravitation — gravity. Take two objects. The larger object exerts an attractive force on the smaller object, pulling it towards itself, as it were. An apple falls from a tree. The Earth, by far the more massive object, pulls the apple to the ground.
Simple enough.
Only Newton's theory left scientists a rather puzzling problem. To paraphrase you, Dr. Farber, where is the gravity? It's not something you can see or touch. It's not something you can put under microscopes or examine from a telescope.
Well, 230 years after Newton, a German patent clerk in Switzerland finally realized that scientists have been asking the wrong question all along. They would never find an object in all the immensity of space called gravity, because, in point of fact, gravity is nothing but the shape of space itself. That clerk — Einstein — posited that the apple does not fall to the ground because the Earth exerts some mysterious kind of force upon it. The apple falls to the ground because it is following the lines and grooves that gravity has carved into space.
And when we talk about sex, we do not talk about love, Dr. Farber, because love cannot be rendered into columns and graphs, as if it were the same as blood pressure or heart rate.
Love is not a force exerted by one body onto another. It is the very fabric of those bodies.
Love is that which carves the lines and grooves. The curvature of our desire.

My fave scene on Masters of Sex so far
- You do not know what you're doing. Can barely even make eye contact. And you take pity on me?
- No, I... Wait. Until I feel something.
- An attraction?
- A shared passion. Not for each other, not at first. For the work.
- But I'm still the boss. I call the shots.
- Maybe at first, but not for very long. No, you want me to be your equal. To have the same opportunities, the same success.
- Maybe that's just a ruse to keep it going.
- No. No, you believe in me. You think I'm smart. Maybe even smarter than you in some things. And you trust me. You defer to me. You see past the person that I... I pretend to be. I present to the world. Confident, competent in all things, to the person that I am. Afraid... That I'm average. The ugly parts don't scare you away.
- You have ugly parts?
- I push you away. Fall in and out of bed with other men, and somehow... You love me... Enough to let me go, find my own happiness. Even if it doesn't include you.
- So, I'm a saint.
- No. No, you're broken, too. You're afraid. And insecure. But I know all the broken places. You've shown them to me.
- So we've kissed each other's bruises?
- We have.

I’ve finished Masters of Sex (thanks Michael Sheen it’s all your fault) and you have no idea how they’ve broken my heart in all of those episodes. I was like “yeah finally maybe they will have an happy epilogue” but then the reality showed up. And then there was the confession and my heart can’t tell you how i was so sorry for Bill to realize it after loosing Virginia AAAA ANYWAY THE ENDING WAS SO HEARTWARMING and i could say, after so many angst, that was pure satisfaction. And wow how do you feel when your otp is canon? Can’t believe it even now lol Do me a favor and watch it ♥
