What would Cell 13 want in a Christmas stocking?
Jyugo is someone who actually really likes stockings. He prefers them to actual Christmas gifts and it’s the part of Christmas he’d be the most excited for. He likes seeing all the little surprises inside his stocking. In his stocking, he doesn’t really have any particular desires for this or that. He likes having it be a true surprise…well, that and he has a real hard time figuring out what to ask for or what he would like. He does really enjoy when there’s small puzzles or brainteasers in his stocking though. Despite the fact that he solves them pretty easily, he finds them entertaining. He’s not good at them, but he likes vintage handheld video games. One time he got a Gameboy Colour and a couple games in his stocking and he got a lot of joy out of that. He likes having practical things in his stocking too, since he’s not really great at thinking of getting himself things like shampoo, conditioner, soap, and such. He’ll often run out and then forget to buy replacements, only remembering when he goes to shower and finds himself still missing those things. He does like ribbon candy and small toys, stuff that his child self never really got the experience or fun of playing with.
Uno plain up tells everyone what he wants in his stocking, just so that there’s no confusion and he can be certain he’ll get what he wants. His ideal stocking has new playing cards, preferably with some kind of cool picture or design on it. He always needs new chap-stick, and he’ll be over the moon if it’s a really good quality one. The fancy conditioner he prefers for his hair is wonderful to get too. He wants hot cocoa packets in there too, the fancy flavoured kinds that come out around Christmas time. Some face masks and new nail polishes would be nice as well. If travel-sized games can fit into his stocking, he’ll also really enjoy those.
Nico gets so excited about opening his Christmas stocking. He’ll wake up at three in the morning, tear it apart, marvel and gawk at all the stuff before he manages to fall back to sleep for a couple hours before getting up for the bigger presents. He really does want his stocking tailored to his interests. Since his feet get really cold in the winter, fuzzy winter socks are a must for his stocking, but other than that, he wants his favourite candies, plus a Shonen Jump in there. He’d love finding a DVD of an anime he’d been wanting to try out too. If he gets a colouring book in there, especially if it’s anime related, he’ll be so happy and he will spend hours dutifully and carefully colouring in each picture in the book, either with crayons or pencil crayons, which should come in the stocking as well.
Rock is more than fine with his entire stocking being food related, with the only exception being that he wants a toothbrush in there as well, along with dental floss and mouthwash. Good dental hygiene is important to him and he really does try to take care of his teeth. He likes getting sweets and a big bag of beef jerky in his stocking. He’d be cool with receiving some magazines he enjoys or a DVD of one of his favourite cooking shows in the stocking as well, something like Hell’s Kitchen or Chopped. He really, really loves Chopped.

If the league collects anything, what’s your headcanon on what they collect?
I hc shigaraki collects gameboy colours. 🥺 or any vintage gaming console. His pride and joy is an arcade machine he saved from an arcade shop that was about to close down.
Spinner is the type to collect date mementos. Movie tickets, the first straw you both shared, that one battered teddybear keychain you gave him, he has all that shit in a box and if you break up with him, he’s the type to do the cliche “throwing away all the shit your ex gave you” ritual
I AGREE i think shigs would vintage gaming consoles and memorabilia and likes to tinker with it hehe
i think spinner also has a really cool pokemon collection !!!!!!
compress like to collect dice sets probsss i think he'd be rlly into dnd too HEHEHE (lov dnd campaigns AUUGGHHHHHH my shaylassss)
rip toga you would've loved sonny angels and blind boxes in general
twice would on board with toga with figurines n stuff but i think he is for sure a fandom bro who likes funko pops (very specific type of person iykyk idk how to explain it he just rlly loves funko pops and DOESNT take them out of their box LMAAO)
dabi collects rocks <3 or bones idk i think he'd like spending his time foraging in a forest or something (healing his childlike wonder aw)

why don't they make technology that looks cool or cute anymore like why does everything have to be sleek and smooth and boring. vintage cars from the like 50s - 80s were so sick I went to a vintage car show last year and they were all incredible I know they were very unsafe but why not make a modern car that looks like/mostly like a vintage car. old tech was so cool as well like ibooks, those colourful mac computers, technology with clear plastic shells so you could see the inside or with colourful plastic shells like gameboys and stuff. old tvs that were boxy had way more personality why is technology now boring as fuck

Hi! That other anon that asked you if you've taken classes about pixel art made me wonder what other experience you have with art. Are you self taught? What kinds of art have you practiced before pixel art? I'm curious because your style of pixel art and use of color is so unique and striking.
Hey, I appreciate the interest. I studied Fine Art at university, although I learned zero knowledge about any traditional techniques such as colour theory, composition etc. The art school was sadly obsessed with conceptual art. They didn't care if you could draw, paint, sculpt or craft with skill and beauty; only the message mattered. In hindsight I should have expected this, I didn't really have a message, just a mood.
I still remember one of the senior lecturers looking at the work hanging up in my art studio and he sighed "Hmmmm, it's just a bit too nice isn't it?". Then he sat me down and began asking "What do you hate? You should make some art about that..." He then proceeded to try and get me to make social and political art, which has never been in my nature. Art is a relaxing hobby for me, a form of escapism, a happy place away from the world. So I continued what I was doing regardless, making surrealist collages from vintage magazines and old books and scraped a bare minimum pass.
I went under the online alias of "Dharma_Collage" from about 2014-18. Maybe there's still some remnants of work online (I'll see if I can find any to add to this post). It slowly transitioned into the work I'm doing now as I used the old collaging techniques to make my first Pokémon art. I don't think I learned anything practical from art school that's helped with the art I make now, it's just been purely led by following my own interests and making what excites and motivates me. The Internet has endless help and resources for anyone willing to learn on their own.
As for pixel art, I seen some pixel art online and just instantly thought to myself "Wow, I want to make that!". So I briefly studied and researched and then jumped head first into it and just kept putting in the hours. Started small, using pixel apps on my phone etc and gradually upped the scale and complexity. I had another page called "Pixelad" for about 6 months before Silphwave, I'll add a few of those earlier images here too for comparison.
When something doesn't look right, whether it be colours, composition, texture, font etc it really offends my brain. There's some kind of OCD factor that compels me to fix what I'm looking at. Most of my art is rearranging and recolouring things until it no longer annoys me. Almost like some feng shui process, especially for the cluttered album cover type designs I make.
I always liked drawing things as a kid, we didn't have much money for toys, game consoles or Pokémon cards etc; so I'd make my own. I filled a notebook with my own Pokémon gameboy experience, I drew locations on every page and made teams for dozens of trainers and gym leaders I'd fight along the way and had extensive stat tallies for all my Pokémon that were constantly getting erased and updated. It was basically a one man D&D adventure 😅 I'd make my own Harry Potter wands and Witches and Wizard cards or LotR weapons and maps. This kind of lore expanding, creating fan art was pretty much ingrained in me from an early age. Maybe that's why the nostalgic theme is ever present through my art as that's essentially what I'm doing, reliving and continuing my childhood.
(Sorry for the long convoluted answer, I found it helpful for organising my thoughts. You've prompted me to think of some things I hadn't considered before, thank you)

my old fnaf oc from around 2016? Miles the Monkey and Chuckles the Chimp. i wanted to play around with a promotional poster type thing :)  and for that vintage 2016 struggle i drew this with a mouse More Info under the cut vvv
I think they would have been in production around the time the Toy animatronics were out. When the Toy designs were scrapped and they revamped the brand yet again, they cobbled together an older endoskeleton and slapped the shiny casing on top. I also don’t think the two ever worked with the main crew, they were probably a rentable animatronic or one that worked the floor at a sister location (such as where the Mediocre Melodies were stationed at).
Smile for Miles! Chuckles has a camera built into his mouth, its job is to take candid photos of patrons and print them out after the payment is inserted into the slot in its top hat.
It can also be prompted for photos when you pull on the red ball on a cord. This will lift the dickie (fake button-up shirt) and Chuckles will pop out to take the photo.
A very low quality screen on Chuckles chest will show you a preview of your photo (think gameboy camera) and print it in the same quality- if not worse.
Miles and Chuckles were built with extending arms. Chuckles are to tempt fickle patrons to pay up. Miles’ arms are used to putting up decorations, fun visual effects, and hugging the kids! Though, he isn’t allowed to hug anyone anymore.
Miles’ long arms are made up of colourful, segmented plates that pinch skin and even dismember digits if they get between the small grooves as he moves around.
Both Miles and Chuckles eyebrows have motion capabilities, with the ability to go up and down quite quickly to mimic human playfulness. They can also raise 1 at a time for that Pixar poster look.
Miles can be quite scary to some, as with mismatched endo and exo they dont really fit together and make some features look ‘wrong’. His eyes can look sunken into their sockets, leaving a lot of void where the whites of his eyes should be. And being somewhat more humanoid gives many the ‘ick’ of uncanny valley.
Miles has a proper voice box with lines, but Chuckles is just equipped with a grainy repeat of the same 6-7 stock monkey noises (ambient bird and other jungle noises probably included).

Trick or Treat 21
prompt: (Belated Trick) Things just… keep… disappearing.
Tumblr media
When Fíli was ten, his father moved he and his mother to a small village named Bree. Looking back, Fíli would say it was a quaint sort of place, neat and tidy, proud of its harvest fairs and baking competitions. Homely. All the shops were located around the green, for the most part; the bookstore, the baker, the restaurant attached to the inn, the butcher, the fishmonger. Everybody knew everybody else.
Surrounding Bree was thin, yellow-green woodland, grassy and sunlit and alive, bisected by a narrow stream that expanded to four times its width in the rainy season. It was difficult to get lost amongst the trees, plenty of indicators and trails to follow that all looped back to the village. However, it wasn’t impossible. At least, not according to Fíli’s neighbour, an old man who went by the name Bofur Biffins.
He was an eccentric fellow with more charisma in his bones than the forest had rabbits, and he told incredible tales of magic and mischief, pipe sloped out the corner of his expressive mouth and fire crackling behind him. The local children visited him often at teatime when Bofur served custard creams with jammy centers and a rainbow of fondant fancies – otherwise outlawed by their parents. The children sat on the floor in a crescent around him, fingers sticky and crumbs down their fronts. Bofur sat in his creaky wooden chair, back to the fire, and he regaled them with the history, as he called it, of the woodland.
Stories of fairies and gnomes and dwarves and all manner of fantastical creature, how they made the woodland their home and still roamed it freely to this day. How critters named Borrowers picked a home and announced their intentions by nicking things before they stole the child of the house. Stories that Fíli, even then, knew were utter nonsense, but enjoyed, nevertheless.
Until, one day, in the autumn of his eleventh year, he lost a sock. It didn’t alarm him immediately, after all, boys lose socks all the time. No, it was something he added later to the growing list of items he began to record after his vintage Gameboy disappeared from where he was sure he’d left it. On the list were also his father’s keys, his mother’s marigolds, fishing hooks, a matchbox, two half-used cakes of soap, a spool of thread, the mask Fíli made for his school play, many of the reeds for his father’s clarinet, and, most recently, a whole package of nutmeg.
“Who ate all the bickies!?” His mother called from the foot of the stairs; her tone colored in annoyance.
Fíli scribbled ginger snaps beneath nutmeg.
The list was growing, and he began to feel the cold clutch of panic prickle up his spine. He knew how Bofur’s tale ended, and things weren’t looking good for him, being the only child in the house. The only way to stop from being taken by Borrowers was to turn thirteen before they came to kidnap him. Because obviously, teenagers weren’t children anymore.
Swallowing around the thick lump in his throat, Fíli peered at his Marvel calendar, tacked to the corkboard hung above his desk. According to Bofur’s tale, the children were taken two weeks to the day things started going missing. He had two days to grow up.
---
Fíli put his plan into action that night after supper. He asked his father for an empty box and stuffed all his little kid things in it. His dinosaur collection, his Transformers, his Captain Underpants books, posters of Pixar movies’ past, Toy Story toys and G.I. Joes and all that stupid stuff he … he never played with or cared about anymore. He kept his collection of stones that he’d found in the woodland, all smooth and pretty, veined with interesting colors, set in a row along his windowsill.
The following morning, he asked his mother if he could have plain sheets and a plain duvet cover and plain pillowcases to replace his Star Wars. After she gave him a funny look, she agreed to pick up a set in whatever colour he wanted. He chose black and grey since teenagers always seemed moody and those were the moodiest colours he could think of.
That day he refused to play Yu-Gi-Oh and stayed in the classroom with his earbuds in and the weirdest, angriest but most upbeat music he knew his friend’s brother listened to. He didn’t eat his M&Ms at lunch and watched TikToks that he didn’t understand on his phone. After school, he even asked if he could join the football game in the green with the older kids. They said yes and cheered him on as he scored his first goal as a Big Kid.
When he got home, muddy and flushed and light as air because he’d done it, he felt sure his plan was going to work.
And then, when the clock ticked over to midnight, he was rudely reminded that pretending to be something didn’t actually make you whatever it was you pretended to be.
“Oi! I said wake up!”
Fíli felt another tiny bump to the tip of his nose, like the flick of a blunt nail. He snorted into semi-awareness, unconsciously batting the air around his face when the back of his hand collided with something solid and a high-pitched squeal sliced through the dense, nighttime quiet.
The sound jolted Fíli the rest of the way to wakefulness. Shooting up into a seat position, he quickly fiddled with his bedside lamp, found the switch, and rolled it on. Heart in his throat, breath rapid and freezing as if he’d run a marathon, he glanced around his room for any signs of an intruder.
There was no one there, no unusual shadows or misplaced objects. Things were as they always were. Just as his heart started slow and breathing to even, he felt a very subtle tug on the edge of his comforter. A barely-there sort of yank-and-release. Slowly, Fíli leaned over and peered over the side of his bed.
Instantly, he flung himself back, toppling over the other side of his bed and into a heap on the floor. He blinked the spots from his eyes, was staring at the ceiling in a daze when a teeny head popped into his vision over the edge of his bed. Apparently, the blanket had followed him most of the way down, bringing the part that’d hung over the other side of his bed up, thus carrying the three-inch-tall boy up with it.
“You alright?” The tiny boy asked. His voice reminded Fíli of a baby bird.
Fíli blanched but was too shocked to do more than nod stiffly in response.
“Good.” The boy said and stood himself up, bent slightly and the knee and sprung over the side of Fíli’s bed, landing neatly on his feet on Fíli’s sternum. “Where’d the dinosaurs go?” The boy asked with his wee hands in his hips. “I had plans for two of ‘em!”
It took Fíli’s brain a few seconds to register the boy’s words, his eyes unable to process what they were seeing. “Uh,” He finally answered, though he sounded uncertain of what he knew to be fact, “They’re in a box?”
The boy’s brows furrowed in confusion, “Why?”
“Because I want to get rid of them?” Fíli replied, going crosseyed the longer he looked at the boy.
“Why?” The boy repeated.
“Because I didn’t want to be kidnapped.” It sounded really stupid when he said it aloud.
The boy crossed his legs at the ankles and plopped down to sit where he’d been standing. “By who?” He seemed intrigued rather than concerned.
“By, uhm, by Borrowers.” Fíli stammered, heat climbing his neck to his cheeks. He was starting to get uncomfortable, neck strained and shoulders aching, so he asked as politely as he could manage, “Would you mind if I sat up, please?”
The boy looked surprised, cocked his head, and examined Fíli’s position, then swung his legs around and slid down Fíli’s side. Once Fíli heard the lightest of thumps, the boy called up, “Go right ahead.”
Hesitantly, Fíli sorted himself out, leaning back on his hands and staring down at who he assumed was a Borrower, there to take him to wherever Borrowers took children.
“Are you going to take me now?” He said weakly, hairline prickling as fear-sweat began to bead.
The boy snorted incredulously, sweeping his hands up and down in front of himself, “Does it look as if I could take you anywhere?”
Fíli considered the question. “I guess not.” If there were more Borrowers hiding under the bed, maybe. They’d tie him down like the folk in Gulliver’s Travels.
“I thought the Bigguns were supposed to be edumacated. Wait ‘til I tell mum they’re as stupid as Uncle Ned!” The boy chuckled to himself, shaking his head as though in disbelief.
“So, you’re not here to take me into the forest and kill me?” Fíli wanted to be clear.
“Who gave you that idea?”
Fíli tipped his head, squinted at the boy, “My neighbour said Borrowers take things and then take the child who lives in the home they stole from.”
“That’s the second time you’ve said that, what is it?”
“What’s what?”
“What’s a borrower?” The boy asked, folding his arms, and tapping his foot impatiently. “They sound as stupid as you are.”
“I’m not stupid!” Fíli defended himself.
“You thought I was going to try and kidnap you. That’s pretty stupid.” The boy reasoned.
Fíli couldn’t really disagree, that was pretty stupid.
“So… you’re not a Borrower, then?”
“I don’t even know what that is!” The boy threw his hands up.
If he were of a regular height, Fíli noted, the boy appeared to be about Fíli’s age. His nut-brown hair was long and loose, and he was dressed in unusual clothes. The fabric looked like it’d been taken from a mitten. On his feet were some sort of rubber material, laced up and tied around the ankle with black thread.
“What are you, then?” Fíli asked.
The boy was outwardly stunned by Fíli’s question. “I—obviously, I’m Kíli!”
“Is that like some kind of gnome?”
“Would you stop making up words?” The Kíli groaned, spinning on the spot before falling down dramatically, “What’s a gnome?”
“Well, what’s a Kíli?” Fíli countered.
“Iam Kíli.” Kíli lifted his head, peered down the length of his body at Fíli as if Fíli were a particular brand of idiot. “That’s my name. What do people call you? Biggun Boy?”
“Fíli, thank you!” Fíli grumbled and crossed his arms defensively.
“Well then,” Kíli pushed himself back to his feet and held out his hand, “Nice to meet you.”
Not wanting to crush Kíli with a handshake, Fíli offered his pinky. Kíli wrapped his tiny hand around what he could of it and shook.
“Now, where are those dinosaurs?”
“What do you want with the dinosaurs?” Fíli wondered, rolling onto his knees.
“I was going to take one home for my little brother.” Kíli explained enthusiastically, “Tili loves pretending to be an explorer, riding around on his beasties, and saving the world!” There, Kíli held his stomach and laughed heartily, practically doubled over.
What Kíli said clued Fíli in on something, “Do you just do around taking whatever you want without asking?”
The question seemed to stump Kíli since, “Don’t you?”
“Of course not! You can’t just take something from someone! That’s stealing!”
Kíli moved forward a couple of steps, “Did you ask the ground if you could take its rocks?”
“Huh?” Fíli frowned. Kíli motioned in the direction of Fíli’s window and Fíli’s gaze followed, landing on his collection of stones. “Nnnnnnnno.” He said.
“Right. Exactly.” Kíli stated. Desiring to get on with things, Kíli brought the conversation back to, “The dinosaurs?”
Fíli pointed weakly toward the box sat beside his closet door. Kíli perked up, whooping giddily and scurrying over. He jumped up, grabbed onto the lip of the box, and hoisted himself over, tipping his top half into the box, rump in the air and legs kicking to keep him balanced.
When Kíli’s top half reappeared, he grinned dopily over his shoulder at Fíli, “Can I take it all? Since you don’t want it anymore.”
Fíli was about to say yes, but something stopped him. He’d only wanted to get rid of those things because he thought it would keep him from getting taken by Borrowers. Now, faced with the reality that Borrowers weren’t going to take him, he didn’t feel the desperate urge to grow up.
“How about,” Fíli began in negotiation, “We share them?” As he spoke, his enthusiasm gained momentum, “I could bring them to you and your brother, and we can all pretend to be explorers! It’ll be fun!” And then, “Where do you live, anyway?”
“That way.” Kíli hooked a thumb toward outside. From where he knelt on the floor, Fíli could just see out his window to the dappling of woodland beyond the back fence.
“In the woods?”
“Yeah. Near the river.”
“River? There’s no—” It dawned on Fíli, “Oh, yeah. I know how to get there. So, what do you think?”
Kíli’s grin mellowed into something soft and pleased.
“Alright. I’m in!”
And so was the beginning of a beautiful, if somewhat unusual, friendship between a boy and his Kíli.

5 Great Ideas For Your 80s Themed Party!
https://www.the-hungryplaice.uk/10-ideas-for-your-80s-themed-party
You want an 80s Themed Party? You've come to the right place I'm more than happy to help as I'm a big fan of the 80s! Here are 5 things that you ought to consider for your 80s Themed Party...
1. 80s Themed Food and Drink
We've got that one covered for you at The Hungry Plaice take your guests back in time with our Old Fashioned Vintage Fish and Chip Vans, we have Betty and Beryl in our fleet and we serve Hand Battered Traditional Fish And Chips, sadly without the newspaper as Food Safety stopped all that! Our van Betty was a working van on a Chip round back in the 80s and is thought to be the only one still in service all these years later so you'll be guaranteed to have something really special at your event. If you wanted to put together your own food there are some other ideas you could try... How about Chicken and Chips served from Baskets, a bit like the ones you can sometimes get in Bowling Alleys, you might be able to pick up some baskets on Ebay and then you can always sell them again once you are done. For a Cheesy Party you'll need an abundance of cheesy food and cheese balls always go down a storm, you could even consider the good old pineapple and cheese on sticks! There are lots of snacks you could have for a buffet including Twiglets, Bacon Rashers Crisps and Pickled Onion Monster Munch, there's Peanuts, Wotsits and Space Raiders. You could even make some cakes or cookies with a Retro 80s theme, there are some great cookie trays shaped like Pac-Man you can find on Ebay. Vol au Vents were big back then and they are easy to make with no end of fillings you could add, here is a basic recipe for you....... https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2219652/party-volauvents Your sweet table could have a selection of Old Fashioned Retro Sweets like Hubba Bubba, Flying Saucers, Love Hearts and Dib Dabs to take some people back to their childhood. There are some great deals on Ebay where packs are sold or you could take a trip to your local wholesalers where you can still buy them in bulk. Don't forget to have Angel Delight and some Trifles, Jelly (and alcohol flavoured jelly shots), Wall's Vienetta and Arctic Roll. Your drinks selection could include old fashioned style retro glass bottles of soft drinks like Cloudy Lemonade, Shandy or Ginger Beer and you could have a few bottles of Babychams and Blue Nuns kicking about! If you are lucky enough to have or know someone with one of those old Teasmade's machine maybe you could have that hooked up on a table so people can have a cup of tea when they're bored of downing the jelly shots!
2. Your 80s Theme
The theme of your party is the 80s but you could go for something more specific in the decade to make things more interesting. How about having a TV/Movie themed 80s Party? You could ask your guests to dress up as 80s movie characters and have your decor to match, maybe you particularly like a certain TV programme or theme like The A Team, Knightrider, Top Gun or Dirty Dancing and everything is themed along those lines or maybe have a mix up of two. Your theme could be 80s Gaming, your guests could be asked to dress up as 80s gaming characters like Pac-man, Super Mario, King Kong or Paperboy, maybe they could come dressed as a Nintendo Gameboy. Have you considered a Roller Disco theme? Everyone could bring along some Roller Skates with Huge Socks and you can have a 80s themed disco, it would be great fun to see how many times people would be falling over after a few drinks! A simple 80s theme could be just made up of colours it would be easy to use neons or bright yellows, pinks and blues, everything could be aligned to the colour scheme to ensure it all matches. You could extend your theme to any invites you send out to show your guests what to expect at the party the list really is endless.
3. 80s Fancy Dress
This is such an easy one as there is so much to choose from! If your 80s Party theme is general 80s with a Fancy Dress Code, there are loads and loads of options for clothes to wear, you really want to try to stay away from buying new at any shops and get your guests to scour Charity Shops, Ebay and Facebook, you might want to get a pile of clothes yourself to put in a box for your guests to pick and choose what they want when they arrive just be careful you wash any of those second hand clothes to keep everyone happy! There are leggings, hairbands, tracksuits velour and shell, sports jackets, ballet skirts, t-shirts with acid smiley faces, big Earrings, Jewellery, Trainers and Hairbows to name just a few things a quick search on Google will point you in the right direction! Remember to go cheap to save yourself money and then you can always sell the clothes on when you're done!
4. 80s Music For Your 80s Themed Party
I am sure we don't need to go into the various types of 80s music there is out there... If you've got loads of money to splash out on the music at your 80s themed party the obvious answer is to get a DJ in, tell them about your 80s them and insist that they play nothing else. If you wanted a really good 80s music theme there are other ways to set your music up. You could go cheap get one of your bluetooth speakers get your playlist on your phone or laptop link it all up and off you go....or how about something far more genuine 80s..... Get hold of an old Hi-fi system with a Tape Deck and find some of those big freestanding speakers and put the 80s Now Collection on loop! It might not give out the best sound quality but it could be more in line with the look of your party! You could hire one of those dancefloors with the clear box flooring which light up with different colours, perhaps you will want to add a bit of cardboard on the floor for anyone who wants to attempt a bit of breakdancing...
5. Decorations
Decorations will be key to creating your 80s themed party. There are 80s themed partywares with the normal tableware, balloons and hanging items with 80s emblazoned across and with all the 80s colours being sold online but you could go a little bit more authentic, how about looking around for 80s themed items that you could scatter about to give your party a unique 80s feel. If you've chosen a specific 80s TV or film theme, it's easy to find things you could use to decorate with that in mind I'm sure there are lots of items you could pick up to do with flying and planes for your Top Gun theme. You might want to head down to a local carboot to find an old 80s side table to put up somewhere in the room you could use it for your buffet table or fill it with some 80s goodies or food. Find an old Boombox, old gaming systems, black and white TVs, walkmans, Rubix cubes, Computers or one of the old dial telephones you could put on the side somewhere it doesn't matter if they are not working as they are only for show and if they don't work or turn on they will be much cheaper to buy. See if you have any old metal signs of 80s Brands that you could put up and cover the walls with posters from 80s Films and TV there are websites where you can add photos and print them off with A4 paper and turn into huge sized posters. The Gameboy Color
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Gameboy color was first released in Japan on the 21st of October 1998. A couple months later the console was released in Europe on the 23rd of November 1998, retailing for the price of £80.00 in the UK. Taking into account inflation the Gameboy color would cost around about £140.84 in 2019. The Gameboy color vastly improved the original Gameboy first released in 1989 through the addition of a new coloured screen, this was the first Gameboy to include this. This screen could display 56 colours from a palette of 32,0000, a substantial advancement from the monochrome screen as seen in the original Gameboy line. The Gameboy color also boasted features like wireless communication between other consoles through the use of inferred (definitely not something to boast about now mind you! One speck of dust and the connection is basically lost, that’s if you got it to work in the first place). Battery life is between 10 to 30 hours off two AA batteries bearing in mind what type of batteries you’re using this is compared to the original Gameboy whom for the same run time used a whopping four AA batteries. The Gameboy pocket faired a little better with a 10-hour battery life off two AAA batteries.
Strangely the spelling of the ‘color’ branding did not change in markets where colour was spelt with a ‘u’. This was probably due to the fact that every letter in the Gameboy ‘color’ represented one of the colours that the unit was originally released in, that being berry, grape, kiwi, dandelion and teal. As you can see my console is the berry colour, it does appear that the grape and teal colours are the most common among the colours originally available.
Some of my favourite Gameboy games at the moment are Pokémon Blue which is great if you’re self-isolating right now, you can really put a lot of hours into this game and still have loads to do after you have beaten the main story (but unfortunately no running shoes), Ms. Pac-man a pretty decent portable version of the classic arcade game and Super Mario Land because who doesn’t like Mario games. You can get a Gameboy color from eBay for around about £30.00- 40.00 depending upon the condition and colour variant. It’s a great console to play and to fulfil that vintage aesthetic!

fake lego
The planet of Lego Racers is a world of authentic model replicas, customizable models and exhilarating computer games, and is good for young boys, along with anyone who enjoys cars, racing or just building Lego.
There are numerous different lines in the series, one of them could be the authentic replica. They are the absolute most collectable models and are popular with both children and adults. They feature stunning recreations of classic cars including the Ferrari F430 Challenge and Ferrari F1 Racer. These can be decorated with official logos, and often feature movable parts such as for example door and engine, and pullback motors to allow them to really move.
There are also several lego alternative Racers available of Lego's own design, including the Revvin Riders or Nitro Terminator. They are great fun to build and can often be assembled in different ways to produce different combinations. Features include pull-back motors and realistic sound effects. These models go great with sets such as the Brickstreet Customs or Lego Bridge Chase which permit you to put your cars into action, racing against others, launching over ramps, as well as stopping to have gas. These sets feature launching gear, drawbridges and a number of other moveable parts and gadgets.
Tumblr media
Among the most popular products in the line could be the computer game designed for PC, GameBoy and PlayStation that will be still regarded as a vintage today. This range of exciting toys lets you build your own personal custom cars and drivers from Lego pieces and then race them round the track, against a succession of increasingly difficult opponents. The gameplay is extraordinarily detailed and the tracks are derived from classic Lego sets such as for example lego clone Redbeard, Basil the Batlord and Johnny Thunder. There is also a multiplayer version so you can challenge a pal to pit their car against yours.
The number of Lego Racers toys offers hours of great fun, whether you are enthusiastic about building virtual models in the computer game, or getting your on the job genuine, and whether you intend to construct a geniune replica, or to see where your imagination can take you.
LEGO toys and play sets are a wonderful idea for kids of ages, thanks for their design and the fundamental notion of building things from colourful bricks! There are some wonderful and extremely popular LEGO toys for Christmas in 2010!

I took this picture in October, but forgot to post it, so here it is. Better late than never. Can you spot the subtle Pokémon reference? I stopped following the new Pokémon games/series after Gold/Silver/Crystal on Gameboy colour, but I really like the Mimikyu concept. I was going for an orange and black Halloween style, and added the cute ghost Pokémon pin. Skirt and neckbow: Innocent World Blouse: Thrifted Bag: Moi-même-moitié Shoes: Hush Puppies Hat: Vintage Vogue Mimikyu pin: Pokémon Center

Brief 3 Memories and Nostalgia
The brief this week is “Memories and Nostalgia”.
I had to think really hard on what I wanted to create for this project, as it is difficult for me to remember anything from yesterday let alone my childhood! Once discussing with my family, I came up with 2 options; trying to play my GameBoy at night on the motorway, and the classic Polly Pocket compacts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With both of the ideas, I want to create a simple character in a cute style possibly playing with these, or being a part of the items themselves, and I have a decision to make with what styles I want to use, whether it be pixel art, 3D, or 2D.
Thinking of how I want to display my final image, I decided to look at various pixel artists, and eventually found an artist by the name of Octavi Navarro.
Tumblr media
His works made me realise that pixel art doesn’t have to be simple, it can be intricate and detailed, which really excites me about trying out this style.
I want to create something that comes from a memory of a holiday me and my family went on, to a farmhouse that we call “The Pink House”, back in about 2006. This house had a room on the ground floor, that I hadn’t been in before, which was completely different to the rest. It was grandly decorated and had a roaring fire, which was weird because the room was also locked before and after I had found it. This made 10 year old me decide that it was a ghost room, and that this place was haunted. This was mind-boggling to me back then and won’t forget seeing that glamourous room, compared to the farmhouse decor of the rest of the house.
Of course this would be different seeing that house now, however, it was such a fun moment on that holiday and one of my first memories.
I hope to recreate this house in a pixel style, to match the GameBoy games I was constantly playing on car rides during this time, and in an isometric style to match the Polly Pocket compacts that I continue to collect 15 years later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My ideas have tended to move more towards dollshouses rather than the compact idea, however I will be using the pixel art either way, and experimenting with shading and colours and shapes.
During this project I will be using Aseprite, a program created specifically for pixel art makers, and Unity for the animation part of this project, if I have time.
