@/christian-latte-anon, you won't see this but I wrote it for you.

“Where is he, Pete?”
Pete Henshaw, driver and bodyguard to Vinsher Grath, nodded at the woman walking toward him. “In there.” Pete jerked a thumb over his shoulder.
Violetta Franco gave a tight-lipped smile. “Thanks.”
“Hey, Vi,” Pete said as she stepped past him. “He’s, ah…in the water.”
Franco gave him a sidelong glance. She knew what he meant.
“Nothing I haven’t seen before,” the lovely, dark-haired assassin quipped.
That was true enough, Pete mused to himself. He let Franco pass and assumed his position at the door, scanning the hallway for potential threats. This also protected him from seeing his boss in the state of nature.
“You’re late,” Vinsher’s voice echoed on the rock walls.
Pete leaned his head against the wall behind him and rolled his eyes. Here we go.
“My sister was late to watch the kids,” Franco explained.
Pete groaned to himself. Oh, could they just stop.
“With what I pay you, you should invest in proper childcare.”
With what I pay you in alimony, Pete thought from his vantage point. These two had been insufferable enough as spouses. As exes they were positively terminal.

I am still LOLing at the Space Suburban, like how much did Chevy get for that product placement.
And if any contemporary vehicle will still be around 500 years from now it will be a Toyota.

Trying to organize my disaster of a WIP folder and finding a bunch of prompt fills I never put on AO3. Uploading them to AO3 seems like a great way to avoid organizing my disaster of a WIP folder.
A fic I did for the dearly Tumblr departed @christian-latte-anon in her Vinsher/Franco AU.

Evil Is Cool: Vinsher Grath is probably supposed to be a Hate Sink, but Burn Gorman turns in such a charismatic, over the top performance it is hard not to like him even though he's a scumbag.

"Xalanyn?" she blinked, her eyes narrowing as she listened to the recordings retrieved from John-117. Quinn glanced at the hovering image of Aurora before she scoffed. "More Forerunner bullshit." "I agree." The AI repeated succinctly.
Halo SE1 Episode 7 "Inheritance" opens with use jumping back into Kwan's history. We see her and her family enjoying their life as a newcomer joins the table. Kwan argues with her father and then storms off. This seems to point to a lot more motivation for the girl on why she is fixated on resurrecting her father's legacy. And we jump back to the present day, she is storming through the desert with no Soren in sight while barreling right into a fucking sand storm. And wow, the girl gets herself black bagged. Fucking hell Kwan, you are just so fucking unaware. Lol, Soren is back on Rubble, and we seem to be learning a bit about his partner. A member of the large Hungarian-speaking pop on the collection of stations. And the bounty comes up and we get a standoff. The partner apparently is getting pushed forward by his girl, and sadly we can see the issues brewing more and more among Rubble's population. Kwan is back in the desert among white-haired... desert-dwelling women. What in the name of the nine is going on, this is so off canon. This is kind of a lot of filler IMO I am going to predict these women are more Forerunner-inspired culties. Or something akin to Forerunner stuff related to the reclaimed gene. Switching to Vinsher, we get pretty cut and dry bit of exposition. All of this is just really random sidestories. Honestly, this is so far the blandest of the various episodes. First, let's talk about how the sections on Rubble and Madrigal feel like poor imitation attempts at Dune and the Expanse. Soren's partner is obviously a kind of lame attempt to show how the UNSC has an underworld. I get it, but this is just, this doesn't fit the Space Opera military science fic created by the games and the books. And, we get some story on the early settlers of madrigal, and wow, yup called it. Forerunner tech inspiring cult witchery. I get it, its cool to create these elaborate (and yet kind of shallow) attempts at colony worlds. Here's the rub, you can't specialize the Gene that gives humans access to Forerunner tech. As a species that was our birthright or so we thought in the Halo games. Then you start tossing out all of this mysticism related to the tech and the alien worlds. This is just kind of unnecessary writing and honestly its leaning a bit too hard on the "Chosen One" story. So, Kwan has a vision, and she starts running into a few important faces including the prisoner from Rubble as well as Chief. Now we get a fucking fighting montage. To be honest I zoned out during this scene until it got to the avatar-esque previous self-imagery. It was, again, kind of predictable. If we didn't have some halfway decent actors I would have actively skipped this scene. She's a protector, whatever that means, and again I'm going to say this circles back to Forerunner tech. Back in the land of "BELTERS" I MEAN RUBBLERS (seriously this entire scene feels like someone binged a lot of season 3 expanse). Basically, Soren scares his partner (with a proper amount of violent maiming via forklift). This seems to be a pretty standard reaction to someone questioning your power as well as a girl half your size getting the jump on you. Vinsher is again on the warpath and apparently thinks that committing some massacres of Kwan's family will fix things. bitch, this man is such a twirling mustache villain. The bastard in a very pseudo-tyrant (I say this because he's only got that assassin really proving his worth as a military strong man) deciding that killing people gets the job done. Plus of course, on a desert planet, we should all were large thick black clothing (this is fucking stupid). Seriously, this reminds me of a tumble joke that stated "there is no evil only fashion!" One thing I do like about Madrigal is how it's a melding of various cultures. Wait, how did SOREN get back to Madrigal so fast? This fucking episode had such random fucking pacing. Seriously, a few better indications and hell even more of a date would have helped. Because it's seriously disjointing to me as a viewer. And wow, Vinsher is fucking doing a full-on bad guy rant that we ignore. Seriously, I was either out of it tonight as I wrote this, OR I am just so uninterested in this weird side story. The idea of blowing the enemy of jacket-wearing blade runners is a good one. I like the idea of this finally becoming a fucking shootout. Soren is on a murder spree and we get a nice scene of Kwan being a sneaky bint. What is with this show unbalancing its action so much with its drama? First, I was the slow build to dropping Makee and now it's this. I really hope Season 2 is far more consistent. Kwan get's a spartan assault rifle and Soren is on the ground after getting shot. Oh, this is going to be tasty. Yup, all of them bastards got literally fried. Not a nice way to go, but you know what, fuck that authority bullshit. The wiches show up as well, and what is going on here. Is Guilty Spark or a Forerunner Ancilia going to pop out. Next thing you tell me there's a fucking Precursor on the damn sight. The rain created from the hydrogen explosion was a cute touch. I like how it doesn't seem mystic, but still how is. The idea of reseeding Madrigal using the hydrogen to create water isn't a bad idea. We see Soren fly off into the sky leaving Kwan to reign in Madrigal. I hope this doesn't become a lost storyline, but hey this show is kind of hit and miss a lot of the time! Hottakes: They really seem to like to go with the Expanse vibe with Rubble and Soren’s storyline. Gods, the Witches are okayish, but this seems silly like weird Domain witchcraft.

Scattered thoughts on nudity in Halo the Series
(Note: i have not played the games, my knowledges of mainline halo lore comes from the BDG halo book video and Red Vs Blue + rvb fanfic)
So Halo the TV show has, so far, had 4 episodes and in those episodes there have been 4 scenes of seeing characters butts, one scene in episode 2 of (Makee the Blessed one), one scene in episode 3 (John-117) and two in episode 4 (Kai-125 and Vinsher(UNSC imposed fasict dictator)) .This is a quite balanced depiction of nudity insofar as i'm concerned
Nudity is used in a few different ways in fiction, and the use changes in different cultural contexts, for example European films tend to be a bit more casual with their use of nudity (I have a very specific memory of watching what we were told was an italian teen comedy in Italian Class and there was a scene were everyone just striped in a public flashmob). Generally though, in American media, nudity represents vulnerability.
The first scene, with Makee we see her getting out of her clothes and see her as fully human, different from all the Covenant around her, and special attention is paid to the burn scar on her shoulder. We don't learn the specific significance of that until the following episode when we get her backstory but I think that reveil works well and adds context as to why she would turn on humanity. The whole scene is very intimate and of the 4 nude scenes probably the most sexualised with regard to the pace and framing. However is forms an interesting book end with the first scene of that episode where we see Young Adult John’s bare back with his scars, forming a parallel and enforcing that Makee and John are going to be going on parallel journeys, both being able to active the keystones, both being augmented by their respective factions to become weapons and tools.
John’s naked scene is interesting in contrast because I don't think it has been shot to titillate. It’s very utilitarian, and that makes sense given we are in a military bathroom, all concrete brutalism and large military slogans on the wall, shared by people who’ve known each other since they were like eight and until then had suppressed emotions so they Do Not Care about being naked (this is why it was a cowards move to not show his dick). The utilitarian feel of the scene also carries over into the way that while removing the pellat is a vulnerable action, with the knife that close to the spine, it is also a practical one, as John chooses to do so because he knows that it will help figure out what is going on regarding the Keystone artefact.
Kai’s scene is much the same as John’s, and I think it emphasises the point I made about the titillation. In Makee’s scene we see a bit of side boob and nip, in Kai’s scene? nothing. I did a quick check on the directors for these episodes and the director of the first two (including Makee’s nude scene) is a Brit, while the second two have been directed by a Dutch guy, which brings me to my next point regarding the Spartans Nudity;
I think all of the nudity of the Spartans is a direct reference to the Starship Troopers Movie directed by Paul Verhoeven, beyond being a bitingly satirical reframing of the original novel and famous for this gif:
Is also well known for a scene where all the military recruits are in a communal shower and talking casually about why they enlisted. Verhoeven is a noted Dutch director who often likes to push the envelope but his sensibilities regarding nudity are VERY european. It’s also interesting because the Novel the film is based on is the OG text for Power Armoured soldier killing Aliens, so it’s very cool and intertextual (if you'd like to know more about this film/book i would highkey recommended Kyle Kalgrenns three part series here)
Last scene to talk about is the scene with Vinsher because it is an odd duck of a scene. He’s in a pool/bath, talking to Franco the assassin about what he wants her to do to (kill Kwan). this is the first time we’ve seen the character outside of his Space dictator clothes and the filming is all wide and over head shots, never actually focusing on the ass so we are seeing him in all his skinny white guy glory but he’s not a large part of the screen when we do see his butt. The start of the scene, where we are following Franco in is probably part of this, its showing how much Vinsher trusts her, as well as being a power play but it does not have that vulnerable intimacy or casual indifference of the other scenes but it is not super menacing either?? there's also some gendered stuff going on with regard to the dialogue tbh i haven't unpacked all that yet it's all very interesting to me specifically.
All of this said the body language of him coming out of the pool would have made this character a Tumbler Sexy Man if the show had been made/released five years ago.
TL:DR I think this show uses nudity in a really interesting way and I’m keen on seeing how it goes moving forward in the show's run. I’m keen to hear other people thoughts on this dumb mini essay dfadsga

And she’s so normal about it? Like this happens regularly?
I haven’t devoted as much fanfic to making fun of this scene as I have the Master Cheeks debacle but it’s every bit as absurd.
