A few weeks had passed since Vinnie had mustered the courage to ask Y/N out for coffee. What started as a simple hangout had quickly blossomed into something more, something neither of them had quite expected but both had secretly hoped for. Tonight was no different. Y/N was coming over to Vinnie's place for a laid-back movie night, something they had been doing regularly. As Vinnie prepared the popcorn, he couldn't help but smile at how natural it all felt—how comfortable they'd become with each other. He'd already set up the living room with pillows and blankets scattered across the couch, dim lighting creating a cozy atmosphere.

When Y/N arrived, she greeted him with her usual bright smile, making his heart race the way it always did. She was wearing one of his oversized hoodies, something she'd started doing more often, and he loved it.

"Well, that's because I'm saving you from yourself," she replied, grinning up at him. "You know you'd finish the whole thing before the movie even starts."

He laughed, loving how playful she was. "Alright, alright. Let's get this movie started before you eat the rest of the snacks."

They settled onto the couch, Y/N curling up beside Vinnie, resting her head on his chest as he draped an arm around her. It felt perfect, like they fit together seamlessly. The movie started, but Vinnie found it hard to focus. Instead, he spent most of the time glancing down at Y/N, marveling at how lucky he was.

She noticed his gaze and smiled softly, tilting her head to look up at him. "You're staring," she pointed out, playfully poking him in the side.

"Can't help it," Vinnie shrugged, tightening his arm around her. "You're kind of hard to look away from."

Y/N rolled her eyes but smiled, snuggling back into him. "Well, don't get too distracted. You promised me we'd watch this one all the way through."

"I'm trying, I swear," he said with a laugh. "But you're just too cute. It's distracting."

She laughed, her fingers tracing lazy circles on his chest. "You're such a sap, you know that?"

Vinnie grinned, knowing it was true. Being with her made him feel soft in a way he hadn't expected. With Y/N, it was easy to let his guard down, to be vulnerable. She never pressured him to be anything other than who he was, and he loved her for that.

Halfway through the movie, Y/N shifted, sitting up a little so she could look at him. Her expression softened, her eyes filled with warmth. "Vinnie, can I tell you something?"

She bit her lip, as if trying to find the right words. "I just... I want you to know how much I appreciate you. Like, for real. You've made me feel so safe, and I've never had that before. Being with you feels... different. In a good way."

Vinnie's chest tightened with emotion as he listened to her. He reached up, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Y/N, you don't know how happy that makes me. I feel the same way. I've never been this comfortable with anyone before. You make everything feel easy, you know? Like... it just works."

She smiled, leaning down to kiss him, this time slower, more meaningful. It wasn't just the sweet, playful kisses they often shared. This one was filled with emotion, like she was pouring her heart into it.

She blushed slightly, her heart swelling at his words. She reached up to cup his face, her thumb brushing over his cheek. "You're making it really hard not to fall even more for you, you know that?"

He smirked, pulling her closer. "That's the plan."

They lay there for a while longer, wrapped up in each other, neither of them wanting to break the peaceful silence. But eventually, Vinnie's stomach grumbled loudly, breaking the moment.

Y/N laughed, sitting up. "Alright, Mr. Hungry, I guess that's our cue to get out of bed."

"Or," Vinnie said, raising an eyebrow, "we could just stay in bed and order breakfast."

She playfully pushed him. "We can't stay in bed all day, Vinnie!"

"Why not?" he teased, grabbing her hand and pulling her back down next to him. "I don't see the problem."

Y/N rolled her eyes but smiled. "Okay, maybe just a little longer."

They ended up ordering pancakes and bacon from a nearby café, and when it arrived, they sat in bed eating, talking about everything and nothing at all. Vinnie couldn't stop himself from stealing glances at Y/N as she laughed at one of his jokes, her face lighting up the way it always did. Every moment with her felt easy, as if they were perfectly in sync.

As they finished breakfast, Y/N rested her head on his shoulder, letting out a happy sigh. "You know, I think this might be one of my favorite days so far."

summary - you haven’t interacted with the Hughes after since Jack draft until recently when you returned to New Jersey for an event .

Ever since I moved to California the night of Jack draft , I haven’t been communicating with anyone in Michigan. My parents seemed to disown me respectfully understanding I guess ? More specifically I haven’t spoken to my best friend Luke neither Quinn . I stopped and changed my number afterwards when I arrived , I didn’t want to have communication with anyone back home especially Jack , why would I break him more if I answered his calls , his nonstop texts hurting us both . Anyways I have had a nonstop schedule with award shows, films to writing music for my albums . Most of my award winning songs were always about Jack but I never hinted at it due to fear fans finding out . Even though they probably knew who he was due to the NHL draft , my phone went off couple of time in the span of seconds knowing it was my publicist telling me my schedule for the next week .

you arrived to NJ , few hours back it’s currently 4 pm , you were chilling in your hotel room with some friends you decided to bring along to hide the fact you’re gonna see your ex and his new girl tomorrow night. Vinnie , Jack , Jett and Avani became your closest friends ever since you met them in 2019 when you guys all stupidly decided to live together, becoming roommates with them was a nightmare in the beginning as we were all just new and awkward around each other . Hiding every time when someone when to the kitchen . Back to the topic yeah ever since we got here Trevor ran off to be with of course Hughes family , you didn’t really care as you had your publicists running you and your friends over on behavior and how to stay engaged with people for tomorrow night , since they’re all influencers it makes us our job easier knowing what to do and how to act . the room was filled with the boy's voice. just him talking about the new anime, that he had started to watch, and how amazing it is.

her body felt warm. being so close to him made her feel safe. his touch. his fingers stroking her hair. she adored it all.

the girl's heart melted at the sight of her lover. she noticed how his eyes lit up, as he continued talking about the show. that's what she loved about him. how compassionate he is about the things that mean so much to him. how he notices the little details, that for others would be nothing special.

"and then it-," but before vinnie could finish his sentence, y/n leaned up and kissed him.

he was a little shocked at the sudden interaction.

to be honest, the girl didn't even know why she did it so unexpectedly, but the way this boy made her feel was indescribable.

y/n disattached her lips from his soft ones, resting her chin back on his chest, her gaze remaining on vinnie.

"what was that for?" his lip corners lifted, as he saw the beautiful smile on the girl's face.

As soon as you drop into the passenger seat, you close your eyes. Vinnie opens the door to the driver's seat, says something to one of his friends, and sits down.

Vinnie was invited to a meeting by his old school friends. He couldn't say no, of course, but he didn't want to go alone either. So he took you along.

You two had a really nice evening. But it's already really late. You would actually already be in bed now, fast asleep.

"It's been a really nice evening, hasn't it?" Vinnie says with relief. He starts the engine and drives off. His hand finds its way onto your thigh. He runs his thumb over your exposed skin.

You mumble a yes and snuggle deeper into Vinnie's jacket. He gave it to you because you were freezing in your dress. And maybe you forgot your own jacket, too. But only maybe...

You feel sleep coming over you. Vinnie's thumb making the same movement over and over again and the warmth of the jacket don't help you to stay awake.

As Vinnie parks in front of your house, he looks over at you. A smile creeps onto his lips. Your eyes are closed and your head is leaning against the window pane.

Not wanting to wake you, Vinnie carefully removes his hand from your leg. He doesn't quite succeed. You open your eyes sleepily and look at him briefly. Before you close your eyes again.

"Go back to sleep. I'll take you inside." He whispers softly to you. "But I need to fix you up so you don't fall out of the car." He pulls you lightly by the shoulder. So that your head is leaning against the seat.

Then Vinnie opens the car door as quietly as possible and gets out. Shortly after, the door on your side opens.

You notice little because you are half asleep.

The only thing you feel is Vinnie bending down to you and wrapping his arm under your legs. Then he puts his arm around your back.

"Babe, I'm going to lift you up and carry you in." As soon as he announces it quietly, he puts it into action.

Vinnie lifts you out of the car, bridal style, as if you weighed nothing. With his hip, he closes the car door.

You let your head slide against his chest. Vinnie looks down at you as he feels you move. When he sees you nestled against his chest like a little baby, he grins again.

Although he knows you can't hear him he says lovingly: "My little baby. Rest for a while. Daddy will take you to bed."

He looks up again and goes towards the door. He opens it and enters your shared house. He leaves the light off so that you don't wake up. He thinks the moonlight is enough to get you safely to bed.

Since your bedroom is on the first floor, Vinnie has to carry you up the stairs. So that you don't bump your head, he goes up the stairs sideways.

When he has made it without any problems he takes the few steps into your bedroom. He puts you on your bed.

"I have to undress you now, love. I know how much you hate waking up in a dress." He thinks about the last time you two came home very late.

At that time Vinnie didn't think it was necessary to take off your dress. When you woke up the next day you were not happy about it.

So Vinnie gets to work and unzips the back. He lifts you slightly and then lets you slide back.

He carefully pulls the dress down your shoulders, arms and then hips. As he is about to pull it over your legs he notices how you start to shake slightly.

Immediately he hurries more. He drops the dress on the floor next to the bed and pulls the blanket over your trembling body. You snuggle into it and lie on your side.

Vinnie bends down to you and carefully tucks a strand of hair that has fallen into your face behind your ear.

"So now Daddy has done it. You can sleep in peace now." He makes one last joke before he frees himself from his clothes and lies down behind you.

He puts his arms around you and cuddles up as close as he can.

"Good night Y/N. I love you." Says Vinnie and presses a kiss to the back of your neck.
