Nuova ristampa del catalogo pubblicato nel 2017  da Wall Of Sound Editions in coincidenza con l'omonima mostra alla Fondazione Bottari Lattes di Monforte d'Alba. Oltre 70 fotografie, di cui diverse mai esposte prima, coprono un arco temporale di oltre 40 anni nel percorso di Guido Harari fotografo musicale. A dieci anni di distanza dal primo fortunatissimo allestimento in blu, Wall Of Sound ha segnato la vita e la progettualità, da allora tutte piemontesi, dell'artista, innescando una reazione a catena che include libri, mostre (tra cui la prima retrospettiva museale internazionale al Rockheim Museum, in Norvegia, nel 2016) e l'omonima galleria e casa editrice, fondate ad Alba nel 2011. In parete sfilano alcune tra le maggiori stelle della musica, secondo la trasversalità dei gusti musicali di Guido: Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Bob Marley, David Bowie, Tom Waits, Laurie Anderson, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Frank Zappa, Brian Eno, R.E.M., i Clash, Iggy Pop, B.B. Tra i ritrattisti più famosi della storia della musica, capace di raccontare le leggende del rock, del jazz e del pop in uno scatto, c’è Guido Harari.

L’artista sarà alla Fondazione Bottari Lattes di Monforte d’Alba, nel cuore delle Langhe patrimonio Unesco, con la mostra fotografica Wall of Sound 10 che resterà visitabile fino a sabato 2 settembre.

Un’ampia panoramica del lavoro di un artista che, in oltre quarant’anni di attività, ha immortalato e collaborato con artisti del calibro di Fabrizio De André, di cui è stato uno dei fotografi personali, a Lou Reed, Giorgio Gaber, Bob Dylan, Vinicio Capossela,  Kate Bush, Vasco Rossi, Peter Gabriel, Pino Daniele e tanti altri.

Wall of Sound 10

Il titolo Wall of Sound rende omaggio al sound del  famoso produttore americano Phil Spector e recupera il titolo della mostra en plein air che MonforteArte organizzò con successo nel 2007 tra le vie del borgo storico, lungo il percorso fino all’incantevole auditorium naturale Horszowski.

All’epoca, in coincidenza della rassegna musicale MonfortinJazz, le fotografie di Harari furono proposte su grandi pannelli blu in alluminio.

Inoltre, Wall of Sound è diventato il nome della galleria fotografica che Harari ha aperto nel 2011 ad Alba, nonché della prima esposizione internazionale dedicata alle fotografie di Harari presso il Rockheim Museum di Trondheim (Norvegia) nel 2016-17.

Ora, a dieci anni di distanza dal successo di quella prima mostra, Guido Harari torna a esporre nelle Langhe con Wall of Sound 10.

Ripropone alcune opere su alluminio blu dell’allestimento originale e soprattutto un’ampia selezione di fotografie classiche e anche inedite in edizioni fine art numerate e firmate (nella terrazza, al primo e al secondo piano della Fondazione e sui muri davanti ad essa).

Le 50 fotografie di Wall Of Sound 10, realizzate tra il 1976 e il 2013, colgono gli artisti in atteggiamenti inusuali, espressioni spesso inattese, su set spesso improvvisati, da cui emerge in maniera immediata la loro personalità; frutto in molti casi di autentica complicità tra fotografo e soggetto.

Sono ritratti che ben esprimono lo stile umanizzante, che muove il lavoro di uno tra i fotografi italiani più apprezzati e conosciuti all’estero.

Cosa dicono…

Così Carlin Petrini (La Repubblica di Torino) ha ben sintetizzato lo sguardo di Harari sulla musica:

Dietro ogni scatto c’è una storia, una storia di volti che abbiamo mitizzato e che Guido ha saputo cogliere con spontaneità e leggerezza, garbo ed eleganza, tratti che rappresentano la sua cifra stilistica.

Di Harari Lou Reed precisava:

Sono felice di farmi fotografare da Guido. So che le sue saranno immagini musicali, piene di poesia e di sentimento.

E Laurie Anderson aggiungeva:

La sua è davvero una fotografia da Kamikaze, molto diversa da quella di un paparazzo. Perché si tratta di autentica collaborazione. Guido non vuole rubarti nulla, ma piuttosto provare ad andare oltre l’apparenza delle cose.

Spiega il presidente della Fondazione Bottari Lattes Adolfo Ivaldi:

La Fondazione Bottari Lattes accoglie Guido Harari con amicizia e simpatia  nei propri spazi espositivi che già hanno visto le fotografie di artisti come Dondero, Merisio, Fontana, Minkkinen.

Questa mostra ci ricorda l’evento del 2007, quella bella  “estate blu” di Wall of Sound a Monforte d’Alba con i suoi pannelli dal blu indaco, un colore che immortalava i personaggi in una dimensione quasi sacrale e inarrivabile, ma al tempo stesso li umanizzava e li diversificava focalizzando dettagli oggetti e gesti di una disarmante quotidianità.

Questa mostra vuole essere un ritorno del fotografo, oggi celebre, che dieci anni fa, accettando l’invito che gli avevo rivolto da Presidente di MonforteArte, diede inizio all’avventura che lo ha convinto a scegliere Alba e le Langhe quale luogo di forte ispirazione per la sua attività.

Wall of Sound Gallery

I 10 anni dalla mostra Wall Of Sound del 2007 racchiudono una serie di passaggi importanti per Guido Harari.

Innanzitutto, il suo radicamento nel territorio albese dopo una vita trascorsa a Milano.

Poi l’apertura nel 2011 della sua galleria fotografica ad Alba, Wall Of Sound Gallery, focalizzata sull’immaginario della musica.

Numerose le mostre organizzate di autori importanti.

Dal 2011 Wall Of Sound ha cominciato ad operare anche come casa editrice, pubblicando i cataloghi delle proprie mostre.

Nel 2015, attraverso un crowdfunding indipendente, Wall Of Sound ha pubblicato con successo internazionale il suo primo volume in tiratura limitata, The Kate Inside, dedicato alle fotografie di Kate Bush, realizzate per l’artista da Guido Harari tra il 1982 e il 1993.

Per novembre 2017 è prevista l’uscita di un nuovo volume internazionale in tiratura limitata, Bruce Springsteen. Further Up The Road, con le fotografie scattate a Bruce Springsteen dall’americano Frank Stefanko sull’arco di quarant’anni anni, dal 1978 al 2017.

Redrew some old Ocs!

They're from a story that I started to write when I was 14. :)

(Which is actually 2 stories that I made into only one, the first being "Edgar Mouret (2014-15)" the life of a 27 year old schizophrenic gravedigger and "Flowers of a Blood Garden (2016-17)", a story told by a serial killer who thinks that he should kill everyone he loves).

It got a lot of changes as the years passed, creating "The Gentleman of the East End", which kept the whole serial killer thing, but instead of his loved ones now he kills prostitutes to write their stories as crime novels + Edgar's story that would show the sadness of living with a mental illness so painful as schizophrenia in a time that didn't have all the advancements needed to fully treat it.

And as I never really did a lot with it I was thinking about changing the plot again.

Now it's technically a Victorian Era sitcom (and I won't actually make it accurate, me and my sister were joking about Violetta liking Britney Spears skjadh)

Here's a brief summary of the "start" of the story:

"Vinicio and Violetta are twins and they're from a wealthy family, the Bianchi, their father has a textile factory and wants Vinicio to be the heir to it, but wanting to become a writer he decides to run away and start living in a very poor part of London, where no one would find him.

One day he meets Emily and Oliver, who are orphans, the two found his house when running through the alleys near the docks, and after thinking it was abandoned, they decided to try and make that their new home. Vinicio finds them in the piano room, the children were already terrified by the thought of him kicking them out, but to their surprise, he just stares and declares that there's nothing there for them to steal, Oliver not wanting to be associated to a burglar is infuriated, but Emily, noticing that Vinicio means no harm, tries to explain why they entered his house uninvited.

After hearing their story and noticing how fragile they seemed, he leads the children to the kitchen, where he prepares a simple soup for them. Emily and Oliver do notice that his plates and silverware are really pretty and expensive looking, and both of them start speculating that he's a rich man in disguise, keeping this thought to themselves they just ask for his name.

"Leonard", he says, and nothing more. The girl could tell he was a very cold man, but more than anything, a little shy.

After finishing their lunch, they're ready to leave the house, Emily's last wish, however, is to hear the man playing the piano, Vinicio asks her what song she wanted to hear, she is reminded of when her mother used to sing for them to sleep, not knowing the name of the song, she decides to sing for the man.

As she sings the first notes, his eyes close, and sooner than expected he calls the children to the room they once were. Vinicio sits on the stool and prepares himself, playing Chopin's Nocturne opus 9, number 2. He plays with emotion, which makes the children wonder what was in his mind, this is intensified by his silence when finishing the song.

Emily thanks him, saying that if their mother was there she would have loved listening to it, and then the children decide to leave. Vinicio stops them, telling the name of the song, so that they can ask for it when they return. Both of them are surprised by what they hear, asking happily "We can return"?!, to which Vinicio confirms that yes, they can return to his house, but they need to knock before entering and don't abuse of his hospitality, he would feed them and let them sleep there, but mostly important, he would try to find a family for them, as children should not live by themselves in the streets like stray dogs. He also gives them some money, so they can go out and buy some fruits and maybe candy. They give him a big hug for his generosity, Vinicio doesn't really know how to react to this, receiving their affection with a somewhat tense body, but gives them a pat to the head, after that Emily and Oliver leave his house.

Now alone with his thoughts, the man sits in an armchair and a tad nervous, thinks about his decision, now he had some serious responsibilities, despite that, it was the right thing to do, after all, that's what Violetta would do if she was in his place".
