I just saw jawan on netflix.
it was mid.
If you're opening your movie with a white saviour trope I just ain't gonna be with it. I know srk isn't white so that trope name doesn't apply but that trope DOES apply.
Oh, these mountainside village folk take care of this strange man who washed ashore? And we see in detail the homeopathic treatment he's getting from a literal staff bearing village elder to treat his wounds? And then we cut to 3 months later without any development or anything as to who these villagers are? and then suddenly there's a carnival of violence committed against these villagers (who btw look ethnically nothing like the prominent characters in the movie.)?
And then we see the village elder praying to his deity statue and we get the tried and tested Indian movie trope of 'Won't you send anyone, anyone to save us dear god' and it cuts to SRK's hands twitching. and then he stands high up on a rock and his silhouette looks like the deity the village elder was praying to. And then I literally skipped past 2 minutes of the action scene following this as he kills all the unnamed randos who were murdering these villagers.
Like... Hey. Movie. Is it ok if I call you movie? You set the tone, you set what your vibe is, you set everything up to be exactly what I do not gel with. But you're also a mass masala flick by Atlee. I understand that. That's your identity. So I have to, despite myself, turn part of my mind off and then watch as you play up your 'messages' to the audience.
But like I'm already rolling my eyes at your opening so I know for sure it'll take a lot for me to take you at anything other than face value. And like I get it. Maybe you don't want to be taken more than at face value. But I'm me. I'm a guy who wants to have a good time. And the only way I know how is to poke and prod beyond your surface to get into the sauce. And sadly you're no Heinz® 57 Sauces. You're barely 5.
anyway then I saw the reviews and discussions and learned that it's apparently leagues better than pathaan.
now I'm intrigued and want to see pathaan. but I know im gonna hate it.
but I'm intrigued.
anyway I really want to see vijay sethupathi not play a villain in big movies like these like I love his villain portrayals but man's like the best actor (big personal bias) in any joint he's in. give him something better to work with.

Jawan: One of SRK's Best Movies
Follow me on Instagram: @thatguyanesejournalist
Let’s talk about Atlee’s Jawan
Tumblr media
Azad is a jailer at a women’s prison who moonlights as a vigilante with the aim to rectify corruption in Indian society, targeting a specific individual whose actions and status have caused extreme suffering for civilians.
Tumblr media
I’ll be honest. The plot could have easily been a two-dimensional hero versus villain story that we’ve all seen too many times. However, adding the stories about Kalki’s father and Dr. Eeram’s “negligence” really brings a depth to the plot that proves this film is not just a story about a protagonist and an antagonist: it’s a story about the people of India.
For example, to avenge thousands of farmers’ suicides, the team holds passengers of a train hostage until they get paid ₹40,000 crore ($4,818,532 USD) so they can repay the loans of the Indian farmers. The viewers finds out through one of the most emotional scenes in the movie that Kalki’s father, who was a farmer, committed suicide so that his family could pay off the loan on their tractor with the money they would receive from his death. In real life, more than 12,000 farmers in India commit suicide every year due to debts. These anecdotes in the film bring a touch of needed reality to the plot; in fact, the reality-based conflicts are something I think Bollywood needs desperately these days.
Tumblr media
Personally, I think this is one of SRK’s best movies. I’ve been waiting to see what movies SRK was going to churn out now that he isn’t doing purely romance movies anymore. I think Jawan is a great example of the content SRK is capable of creating without being a romance hero. And you see this with Azad and Vikram Rathore, who aren’t your typical protagonists. You would expect the protagonists to take the main spotlight for most of the movie. However, SRK shares the screen with a plethora of other female characters and doesn’t overshadow their acting or stories.
Tumblr media
One character that I absolutely adored was Narmada. As a female protagonist, she wasn’t the “damsel in distress” that needed saving all the time. In fact, she was a tough character throughout the movie who held her own, even when she found out Azad’s real identity as a vigilante. I really do appreciate Narmada’s character arc and the fact that she could always defend herself as an individual.
Tumblr media
A quick shoutout to Kalee Gaikwad and how effortlessly Vijay Sethupathi acted in his role. This was actually the first movie I’ve ever seen him in, and he conveys the psychotic qualities of his character without it seeming fake or unconvincing. I have a whole bunch of Vijay Sethupathi movies lined up for me to watch for the future!
Tumblr media
Also, another shoutout to Aishwarya Rathore and the wonderful Deepika Padukone. Even though her cameo in the movie was short, it was an impactful one and gave me major Om Shanti Om vibes. I love how her character was also strong and independent, refusing to be coerced by Gaikwad and his scheme to frame Vikram.
Tumblr media
I loved the movie so much. There was impactful dialogue throughout, even though some parts did sound a bit preachy but still fit the message that the movie was trying to convey. The references to SRK’s iconic movies didn’t go unnoticed by me, and it was done in a way that didn’t make me cringe. I also appreciated the way there were numerous fourth-wall breaks that seemed like SRK was addressing the real-life viewers during the film’s most crucial moments; by staging this scenes as messages to the actual people, it causes viewers to think about their own political landscape in their country and how they can impact their own government (LEGALLY, PLEASE).
Tumblr media
All the songs on the soundtrack, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, were pretty catchy to me. Welcome to another episode of me having a hard time to curate my song list. At the end of the day, I included both popular and seemingly underrated songs from the film. Give them a listen!
Aararaari Raaro
Chaleya
Zinda Banda
Tumblr media
The movie is 2 hours and 50 minutes long. Stream the extended cut on Netflix, grab a snack, and enjoy!
Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

After Offering Shah Rukh Khan Food On Twitter, Swiggy Actually Showed Up At Mannat
The food-delivery app shared an image of the Swiggy employees outside SRK's home in Mumbai
Tumblr media
New Delhi: When Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan wants something, he usually gets it. This is exactly what happened on Monday when SRK made a passing reference to the popular food-delivery app Swiggy during an Ask Me Anything session with fans on Twitter. Fans from across the world quizzed SRK on a range of things - his movies, family, and everyday banter. It all started when a fan asked SRK, “Khaana khaaya kya bhai? (Did you have your food, brother?)". To this, the superstar who is famous for his wit and humour wrote, “Kyun bhai aap Swiggy se ho….bhej doge kya? (Why brother? Are you from Swiggy…will you send me food?)" The food delivery app lost no time in joining the conversation and made an offer to SRK. They replied to SRK's tweet and said, “Hum hain Swiggy se, bhej dein kya? [We are from Swiggy, may we send?]”
In a few hours, a bunch of Swiggy employees reached Mannat – SRK's residence – and in a Twitter post revealed that they had arrived with dinner. In the caption, they wrote, “Hum swiggy wale hai aur hum dinner leke aagaye [We are Swiggy folks and we are here with dinner].” It is tough to miss the reference to SRK's iconic film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
As part of the Ask Me Anything session, SRK also answered several questions about his upcoming films as well as his daughter Suhana Khan's debut film, The Archies. A fan asked SRK “How do you feel as a proud father?” To this, SRK said, “Father bias and excitement will always be there but looking forward to a Zoya Akhtar film actually.”
Shedding light on the status of his upcoming film Jawaan and answering a question about whether the film is ready, SRK declared, “Absolutely Ready Steady Po!”
Shah Rukh Khan's Jawaan will release in theatres on September 7th and will also star Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani.

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/liyana.libaa.5 Navarasa (transl. Nine emotions) is an Indian Tamil-language anthology streaming television series created by Mani Ratnam, who also collaborated with Jayendra Panchapakesan to produce the series through their respective banners Madras Talkies and Qube Cinema Technologies. The series features nine stand-alone episodes based on the Indian concept of the Navarasas, filmed by Priyadarshan, Karthik Subbaraj, Vasanth, Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar, Karthick Naren, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Sarjun KM and Rathindran R. Prasad. It stars an ensemble cast of Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, Siddharth, Revathi, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Prayaga Martin, Arvind Swami, Prasanna, Poorna, Delhi Ganesh, Rohini, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Yogi Babu, Remya Nambeesan, Aditi Balan, Bobby Simha, Riythvika, Sree Raam, Atharvaa, Nedumudi Venu, Anjali, Kishore amongst others. The idea for the series was conceived when Mani Ratnam and Jayendra worked on activities for social causes and planned to direct a project for a streaming service in order to help the daily-wage workers and other members from the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, by generating funds through this project. Marking the digital debut for Mani Ratnam and the production studio Madras Talkies, the company teamed up with FEFSI and Bhoomika Trust for the fundraising activities. After an official announcement during October 2020, with the cast and crew members, including the directors, writers, composers, cinematographers, and editors working in the film, the production of the short film episodes began during the same month and ended within March 2021. Three proposed films of directors Halitha Shameem, Ponram, and K. V. Anand, were dropped during the production stage. Navarasa was the most anticipated Tamil project in the streaming service, due to the star cast, technicians, and directors working in the project and the promotional campaigns. The series was released on 6 August 2021 through Netflix. Navarasa is the soundtrack album for the Netflix original series of the same name jointly created by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan. The series consists of nine short films based on the nine Indian aesthetics and has music composed by A. R. Rahman, Santhosh Narayanan, Sundaramurthy KS, Rajesh Murugesan, Karthik, Ron Ethan Yohann, Govind Vasantha, Justin Prabhakaran, and Vishal Bhardwaj. The original soundtrack and score of Navarasa are composed by A. R. Rahman, Santhosh Narayanan, Sundaramurthy KS, Rajesh Murugesan, Karthik, Ron Ethan Yohann, Govind Vasantha, and Justin Prabhakaran. Initially, D. Imman, Ghibran, and Aruldev, were signed in for the project, but since the directors of the respective anthologies left the project, Santhosh, Sundaramurthy, and Rajesh took over the project. Vishal Bhardwaj made his debut in Tamil, composing for the segment Inmai directed by Rathindran R. Prasad. As the series is based on the Indian concept or Navarasas (Indian aesthetics), each segment directed by five directors represents a different emotion such as anger, compassion, courage, disgust, fear, laughter, love, peace, and wonder. The songs in the anthology segments scored by varied music directors also represent a different emotion. The music directors, along with the film artists, directors, and other technicians, worked on the series without receiving any remuneration. Though multiple composers were being a part of the anthology, only nine songs were composed for the series. The episode Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru, featured five to seven songs scored by Karthik accompanied within the duration of 35–40 minutes. The track "Thooriga" is inspired from the song "Ninnukori Varnam" from Agni Natchathiram, composed by Ilaiyaraaja, and the first-bit prelude of "Adhirudha" is inspired from "Für Elise", a composition for piano by German musician Ludwig van Beethoven, and Karthik played this song in guitar. After Sarjun being roped in for the anthology whose segment titled Thunindha Pinn, Sundaramurthy KS, who worked with Sarjun in the short films Lakshmi (2017), Maa (2018), and with the feature film Airaa (2019), was roped in for this segment, and composed two songs: "The Bleeding Heart (Osara Parandhu Vaa)" and "The Comrade Theme (Dhooramai Kanaa)" sung by Uday Kannan. Composers Govind Vasantha and Justin Prabhakaran had scored two tracks each for the series. The song "Kannunjal" is set in Anandabhairavi raga.

★ EXCLUSIVE: Salman Khan approached for Master Remake; Will he step into Thalapathy Vijay's shoes?!
April 4, 2021
Pinkvilla was the first to reveal that the Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi fronted Master is gearing up for a Hindi remake. We also revealed that Kabir Singh producer, Murad Khetani and Endemol Shine will be producing the film in Hindi with two top names from Bollywood, making it one of the biggest hero vs villain events upon its release. And now, we have learnt that team of Master have started to approach actors to step into the lead character of Master and the baddie Bhavani. Team Master is keen to have Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan on board the film.
“Murad and the team of Endemol have had a couple of meetings with Salman Khan over the last 30 days, to discuss Master with him. Salman has liked the concept of the film, and has shown keen interest, however, is waiting for the team of Master to come to him with a bound script in Hindi, as a lot of elements from the Tamil original have to be tweaked to suit the sensibilities of Bollywood audience,” revealed a source close to the development. The titular role of Master, played by Thalapathy Vijay in original, has an aura and screen presence that can be justified by very few superstars in Bollywood, and that’s the reason why Salman was the obvious first choice for the team.
Tumblr media
Salman’s aura and personality suits best for the role of Master, and that’s exactly what the makers also felt. The discussions are in the very nascent stage, and Salman will take his decision on doing or not doing the film only after hearing the screenplay narration. The team of Master is currently working on the rewriting the script – tweaking the second half of the original, and editing the rather longer portions to keep the runtime in check in Hindi. The next narration with Salman is expected to take place in a couple of months,” the source added.
Meanwhile, Salman is gearing up for the release of his Eid 2021 release, Radhe, the theatrical trailer of which is expected to hit the digital world soon. He is currently on a break from the Tiger 3 shoot, and expected to re-join the gang in the second week of April in Mumbai. Reportedly, he will be juggling between the promotions of Radhe and the shoot of Tiger 3 in April and May.  There’s an overseas schedule of Tiger 3 planned in the month of June, however, it all depends on the Covid-19 scenario in Europe and a final call on flying abroad will be taken by end of May. After wrapping up Tiger 3 around September next year, Salman moves on to Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali with Sajid Nadiadwala.
“If everything falls in place, Master will be Salman’s next after KEKD and go on the floors around the month of February/March next year. Apart from Master, he is reading a couple of more subjects, to block the date in Q1 of 2022,” the source signed off. Stay tuned for more news on Salman Khan and the status quo of Master

[MIRROR] Titillation and perversion: the cis lens of Super Deluxe
Posting a mirror of this: original at http://theworldofapu.com/super-deluxe-critical-analysis/
Super Deluxe (2019), directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, has been a polarizing film in my queer circle. To those convinced of its brilliance, it is nothing short of a cinematic revolution. However, to the rest of us, it is difficult even to describe how depraved the moral center of the movie is, surrounded as it is by an aura of big names lauding it as years ahead of its time. This becomes an especially difficult matter when the narrative of the film is praised for being trans-inclusive. Many see it as Tamil cinema’s big favour to transgender folks, which makes it that much harder to argue that the film is transphobic to its core.
Structured as a set of four seemingly disconnected storylines, which eventually converge in unexpected ways, Super Deluxe is a potpourri of things that sound like Really Cool Movie Ideas—shower thought after shower thought thrown at you, plot devices that may well have come from that one college friend obsessed with Quentin Tarantino. The cult success of Aaranya Kaandam (Kumararaja’s previous and first film) led to a breathless build-up around Super Deluxe, and that resulted in a movie so convinced of its own hype, that it never stopped to consider the fact that these Cool Movie Ideas may not fit coherently. The movie is always smugly convinced of its own brilliance, all the way from the titillating title sequence to the ending that featured a bizarre exposition (aliens give you cash! morality is relative!), revealing the film’s sheer contempt for the viewer’s intelligence. Leaving aside the gratuitous violence and the rampant transphobia, Super Deluxe is a drab movie at best.
To begin with, Super Deluxe is not kind to its cis women. It opens with Samantha playing an archetype of a modern woman that has plagued Kollywood since time immemorial. Her character, Vaembu, speaks about sex in a way that is reminiscent of a schoolboy’s fantasy, calling herself an ‘item’ by way of introduction. We see a neat correlation being drawn, between the sexual openness of the character and the trouble she is in. Later on in the movie, a weak attempt is made to subvert this portrayal, along the predictable lines of the How Many Partners Have You Had conversation. By that point, the plot seems to have lost any semblance of life. The less said about Leela, the better—Ramya Krishnan makes a brave attempt to authentically portray one of the most ham-fisted stereotypes of Sex Worker with a Heart of Gold I have seen yet from Mysskin (one of four writers credited on this movie).
However, the violence that registers most is the one that comes disguised as empowerment. The character of Shilpa, a trans woman, is played by actor and cis man Vijay Sethupathi. Shilpa’s story is the detailed recounting of every single way in which trans women can be humiliated. My favourite critical review of the filmmaking on display here comes from the blog The Seventh Art, where Srikanth Srinivasan notes that the camera and the soundtrack share the point of view of the aggressor time and again. We rarely see Shilpa’s plot from her own perspective; it is always the perspective of a condescending observer or a crying wife. One such instance of this voyeuristic framing and subsequent othering is the scene where Shilpa is shown draping a saree. She dresses herself in front of a mirror while her wife stands and watches, sobbing. The soundtrack is giggling out Maasi Maasam Aalana Ponnu, a song from the 1991 film Dharmadurai, mockingly dissonant from the context. The camera zooms into Shilpa smoothening her wig, and she has the slightest moment of genuine euphoria that she looks good for her walk. The camera, of course, makes fun of this vulnerability all along—titillating noises from the sex song still running, it switches over to the sobbing wife who says, “I don’t know what’s harder, having lived so long without a husband or having to live with a husband like this.” This is the point of view the camera wants you, the viewer, to have. It wants you to watch while ‘something like this’ gets humiliated. This is supposed to be the progressive portrayal of a trans woman in this movie, obsessed with her appearance, indifferent to her wife’s pain; a balding sex trafficker who dresses up while her wife watches.
Srikanth goes on to observe: “In the scene at the police station, the only point of view the audience is allowed to recognize is the sleazy cop’s. The cop, of course, is a caricature and the audience is made to feel morally superior to him, while not having anything to do with Shilpa beyond dispensing sympathy for her subhuman status. By making Shilpa the passive object of contempt, the film forestalls even the possibility of the audience’s identification with Shilpa that the casting of Vijay Sethupathi might have offered. There’s a special violence in the fact that the transference of identity that the film demands from its trans viewers for its other characters is not matched with a demand from its cis viewers towards Shilpa.”
It deserves to be said that it is profoundly unethical and transphobic to cast cisgender men to play trans women. Jen Richards put it across wonderfully in the Netflix documentary Disclosure (2020):
“Having cis men play trans women, in my mind, is a direct link to the violence against trans women. And in my mind, part of the reason that men end up killing trans women out of fear that other men will think that they’re gay for having been with trans women, is that the friends, the men whose judgement they fear of, only know trans women from media. And the people who are playing trans women are the men that they know. This doesn’t happen when a trans woman plays a trans woman.”
All the subplots share one thing in common: the setup is fantastically contrived with no aspersions to realism or believability, with the exception of sexual violence, which is gratuitous, uncomfortably real, and never-ending. Don’t get me wrong—I think there can be artistic value in making a viewer squirm in their seat, discomfited by sexual violence, especially if you’ve been a victim of it. However, to do so with no narrative significance and to follow it up by saying “Everything is Meaningless” is the kind of depravity that I could not stomach, in a movie that everyone seems to love. Ostensibly, there seems to be an uplifting and empowering message that is arrived at, but not through any meaningful transformation, or moral discourse, or even the triumph of good over evil. This is the thematic methodology of the movie: it first completely reinforces harmful stereotypes for the entirety of the plot, in excruciating detail, and then says, “I was just joking, a flyaway TV knocks out the sexual predator, isn’t life funny?”
The most egregious of these, to me, is the resolution of Shilpa’s narrative, when she comes back and speaks to her wife and son. “I didn’t think of you or your pain. I didn’t know that I would have a son who loved me and ask me why I left him,” she says.
Raasukutty and Jothi berate and gaslight this sobbing survivor of sexual assault, accusing her of being stone-hearted and plotting to leave her family. And then Raasukutty says reproachfully that although everyone else mocked her, he and his mother accepted Shilpa the way she was. “Did I or mother say a single word to you?” he asks. This is not true; Shilpa was thoroughly humiliated when she returned home, including by Jothi, who responds to her transition by alternating between shock, unveiled disgust, and mourning at lost masculinity. But coming from the mouth of precocious child Raasukutty, it is merely a reflection of cis-fragility that doesn’t even register they drove Shilpa away.
Shilpa sobs a little more. Raasukutty says, “I don’t care, be a man, be a woman, be whatever you want. Never leave us again.” The scene fades into black.
My blood boils.
How could this be the resolution? The movie features a trans woman being mocked in ways that feel like the camera is laughing at her, a trans woman being sexually assaulted, a trans woman who is told that expecting society to accept her is too much to ask, a trans woman who gets driven out of every place she wants to exist in, only for her to be told, “I don’t care who you are.”
“I don’t care who you are” is not acceptance. I might have forgiven it all if Raasukutty had instead said “Why did you leave me, mother?” But what we get instead is a return to square one: Shilpa being berated for not being a father, a father she never wanted to be.
Shilpa is never offered simple acknowledgement of her womanhood, or her personhood even. She is always treated as a thing, never a woman. She is seen as an aberration, something grotesque, and the progressive message seems to be that these grotesque things must be accepted for whatever they are. I keep going back to that scene of Shilpa draping a saree, and the awful cognitive dissonance of it. In the end Shilpa says, “As a woman, I understand what you’re going through.” The irony sends shivers down my spine. If the filmmaker had actually believed that, he would have made a very different movie.
There is a profound cis male perversion in the way Shilpa’s story is told. It takes a cis man to devise a plot where a trans woman takes her young child to a public bathroom and zips him up, in a pose that looks like she is fellating her own son. It takes a cis man to write a plot where a trans woman is a child trafficker who upon losing her child in the market, screams that she’s a sinner who transferred her sin to her son when she touched him. It takes a cis man to gaze so long and unblinkingly at the debasement of trans life, and intercut to jokes about porn. This isn’t progressive thought.
One of the most enduring and harmful transphobic stereotypes in existence is the idea that transgender (and other) alms-seekers are running begging and child trafficking rings. This is a popular idea with very little evidence: Sabina Yasmin Rahman calls it the mafia of middle-class convenience. Having noted that police have run multiple investigations in Delhi which failed to establish the existence of a begging mafia, she concludes that this idea of a begging mafia is perpetrated by popular culture and widely-held beliefs, but in reality is hugely exaggerated. Most beggars just live in debilitating poverty. This harmful myth is reinforced in this movie. And really, the more I recall this movie, the more shocked I am that anybody thinks this is progressive. This is what cis people think trans folks do.
In his article on trans characters in Indian cinema, film critic Baradwaj Rangan (who happens to be cis male) had said, “Had Super Deluxe not been a “mainstream” movie, had it played only in festivals to sympathetic and (dare I say) “evolved” audiences, there might have not been the fear that Shilpa is showing the transgender community in a bad light.” For what it’s worth, I’d like to make it clear that sex trafficking is not a realistic character flaw, and rape is not a humanizing portrayal. I leave it to the reader to ponder how utterly offensive this idea is, that a mainstream portrayal of transgender people should shy away from such esoteric things like human dignity.
Even within the Indian trans community, there are divergences in what is considered problematic within the movie. Some of the criticism leveled at it, such as that of transgender activist Grace Banu’s (in an interview to Vikatan; article in Tamil), has been regressive and homophobic, calling into question the logic of Shilpa transitioning as an adult or being attracted to her wife.
Transgender people of all gender identities have the right to choose when to undergo surgical changes, if at all they want to undergo them, and have the express right to fall in love with or have children with or live with people of any gender. One of the common effects of Hormone Replacement Therapy is infertility—there are plenty of folks within the trans community who live their lives precisely in the way that Grace dismisses as illogical. For a trans woman who wants to father children, the two options are to freeze her sperm before starting HRT (expensive and inaccessible) or have a child before starting HRT (which is what Shilpa has done). Grace’s unnecessary and bigoted detour into Shilpa’s bedroom provides no teeth to her critique, which is otherwise spot-on in terms of the movie bringing back the many indignities that the trans community has finally moved past.
Super Deluxe will have to bear the cross for perpetuating the violent lie that women like Shilpa are men like Vijay Sethupathi in makeup and a dress.

As the title suggests this is my movie rec list. These are the films across industries and  stuff i feel needs more recognition and love. It is all a mixed Bag, Mixed Genres, Mixed reasons to suggest them right from the quality to acting to cinematography to story etc.. to critical acclaim Etc you get the picture. Now not all of them are like Blockbusters or like wah wah highly acclaimed though majority are but still i feel more people need to see them so do give a try. I love these films and i am proud of them so here it goes in no particular order.
p.s These are more recent films say last 2,3 yrs and the list doesn’t include films that are still in theatre like Uyaare, super deluxe, athrian, lucifer  etc
Template is as follows the Titles include links with subs. Now they are msotly links for well known streaming giants so should not be an issue with majority but i will try to find and add alternate links too. Also will be adding lil synopsis detail of film and then in italics what i thought of it and why one should watch it just random thoughts kind of thing. we will see how far this will go because i have 30 titles approx to add LOL so i will have to break this post in parts and i might get lazy and forget to add my thoughts. we will see LOL
So Let’s Begin :)))
Part 1:( will break it in 10′s caz otherwise it is too much to post in one post )
Vikram Vedha |Tam | *R.Madhavan,Vijay Sethupathi:   Police officer Vikram is on the hunt to capture Vedha, a gangster. But when Vedha voluntarily surrenders himself, it challenges Vikram's perception of good and evil. [you should watch this one for it’s smart writing, superb characterization and wonderful performances, the intrigue factor keeps you hooked till the end and Not a trace of Maddy and Vijay in the Cgaracters of vikram and vedha they are truly those characters., Also i heard this one is in the process of getting remade in bollywood so watch it before it is ruined forever. IYKWIM... i will leave it at that because this isn’t the post for details on remake hehe
Geetha Govindham|Tel| *Vijay Devrakonda, Rashmika Mandanna: (the drive link will not open in the app from phones, use a PC):  A 25-year-old virgin searches for love. Super cute rom com and a feel good film. Music is really nice and basically a laugh riot or well i laughed a lot lol.
Vada Chennai |Tam| *Dhanush,  Andrea Jeremiah,Aishwariya Rajesh |alt link |  A proficient carrom player sets foot in the world of crime and joins forces with local gangsters to settle their feuds. However, he decides to take them down when they plan to wipe out his locality. A perfect beginning to the triology,Truly enthralling, Truly an epic Gangster drama, it is built layer by layer and sucks you into the world of anbu and company right away. Dhanush is in his best form and andrea in her grey character is also surprsingly good. this gangster drama i actually loved like anything and this genre is really not something i enjoy mostly it has to be really good for me to enjoy it
Njan Prakashan |Mal| *Fahadh Faasil,Sreenivasan |alt link|  Prakashan aka PR Akash is a typical Malayali man who aspires to lead a luxurious life without too much effort. As he tries to achieve this aim, a few insignificant figures walks into his life.
holds up a mirror to Society, simple, cynical, skeptical, thoroughly entertaining and teh one that makes you smile, also Fahadh plays the role of the guy we love to hate and then love so perfectly. but hey that is hardly a surprise i mean when is he not Excellent?.
Sairat| Marathi|* Rinku Rajguru, akash Thosar: {on netflix as well} Upper class Archie falls in love with a lower caste son of a fisherman, Parshya. Watch this one for it’s realistic approach and rawness. this one deals with a wide range of themes right from class system to the struggles of a young couple when they try to settle into a daily life to more dark themes such as honor killings but an epic film. it is so hard to explain in words how good it is and why one must watch this one. Just the honesty the passion of filmmaker shines + the music. one big thing about this film was how normal looking everyone  was they had realistic locations average looking cast but MAN THIS one makes you smile, laugh, cry, be sad, feel the pain like anything .the usp is the innocence of leads and the love story is so endearing Unfortunately this is also the original of dhadhak which isn’t even a speck of dust in terms of quality and basically rips everything that made sairat what it is from it and is a glossy totally non practical remake and devoid of any emotions + with terrible casting Loll.  Also this is my only Marathi entry on this list.
Ente Ummante Peru |Mal| Tovino thomas,Urvashi:| Alt link  The life and journey of Hameed to find his biological mother and how his life changes when Aisha comes into his life. Just Heartwarming would be my comment on it. this is again something one has to watch and experience to know why this one made it to the list. it is hilarious at times yet has some very tender moments. Tovino is a sweetheart as hameed and aisha amma is Lovesuper lovable and warm. this one just kinda engulfs you into it’s warmth.
Majili |tel| *naga chaitanya, Samantha:  A former cricket player nursing his wounds of a failed relationship takes up the task of training his ex-lover's daughter and in the process discovers his feelings towards his wife and her unrequited love for him. I personally didn’t care for the first love story as it is very typical and clice But it is post the entry of sam where the film becomes worth making it to this list , simple and the one that makes you count your blessings and just be thankful to have someone who loves and supports you like sravani does for purna..  Chay and Sam’s chemistry is off he hook and they make it worth it totally.
Arjun reddy| tel| shalini, VIjay devrakonda : alt link   Arjun Reddy (Vijay Deverakonda) is a Surgeon and the topper of the college. He falls in love with his junior, a Tulu girl (Shalini), who is four years younger to him. Due to some unfortunate incidents, they break up. How life takes them forward forms the rest of the story. A gamechanger in Telugu industry no wonder it has reached the cult status. it’s not like i haven’t been raving about it from past 3 days even more than before because the butchering in form of the remake hurts But wow What a revelation Mr Derakonda was in this and He rightfully won a Best actor award. Just Like sairat this one rises way above the script due to the acting of vijay and that honesty in the script and film making. idk it is hard to put in words for me but when you see these films you see how passionate the makers were while making them and the heart and soul they have put in the film just shows and touches you so hard. Now this one is 18+ so TW drugs, alcoholism and a lot on innuendos and banging hehe. BUT and i can’t emphasize enough IT IS WORTH EXPERIENCING IF YOU ARE A FILM LOVER. This is the one which leaves you in the undecided category or well it had left me in that do i love it? do i hate it? i was so confused until my rewatch and i have finally came to conclusion that i love it. this is like you can love me hate me but you can’t ignore me and it stays on your mind a lot longer then the 3 hrs runtime after you are done because you are in that wait what is my actual verdict hehe. Also i haven;t seen a more accurate depiction of a toxic relationship on desi screen where one is so obsessed and self centered that it becomes really hard to survive around him
Thadam|tam| Arun vijay    The murder of a youngster creates confusion among a few cops when they find out that the one accused in the crime has a look-alike!.  Thadam has an intriguingly written flow of events that begin from the pre-interval point and the film maintains the suspense factor till the end. The lead actor is fab in his dual role it is hard to tell which one is which and who has actually done the crime but mind you int he beginning it is a little confusing as it keeps goign back and forth between the bg stories of 2 guys but the viewer isn’t told that it is actually dual role so i was like wait how come one min he is rich and in love with oen persona and next he is in slums doing thefts lol. anyway...
Peranbu\Tam/Mal |*Mamooty  A story about a father who tries to understand the struggles of his disabled daughter Paapa. The plot highlights the journey of how he becomes a better man while he comes to terms with his child and her special needs. This one is Just purely about a father’s love for the child and how far a father can go for his child.
An Honorable mention to BAAHUBALI2 which requires no intro or anything from me to persuade one into watching it It is SELF EXPLANATORY.
Phew OK i am calling it a day..... Part 2 will be posted soon... I am more then excited to  hear from you guys and your thoughts on these films plz do tag me if you post your reviews and your thoughts. i worked really hard on this so i will be more than excited to know if it was worth or no... I have so much more quality content in the queue and am super excited to share that with ya fellas..... it gives me great Joy to share the love for movies and a lot of satisfaction that all this FIlm nerd thing is coming to some use to others and i take a lot of pride in the fact that i am kind of is a film nerd hehe. Happy Viewing,,,,,,,

Exclusive: Aamir Khan signs the Hindi remake of Vikram Vedha
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Aamir Khan is currently gearing up for his next project Laal Singh Chaddha alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. But seems like there is another interesting project moving parallel with this one. According to our sources, Aamir has given a nod to the Hindi remake of Tamil film Vikram Vedha which is titled Vikram Veda. The film will have Aamir playing a negative role. Not just Aamir, this fascinating project also stars Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. While Saif will play good cop, Aamir is set to dive deep into the world of vices. Vikram Veda will be directed by Gayatri Pushkar who also directed the Tamil version of the film.
The project is set to go on floors in March 2020. While Aamir will recreate the role essayed by Vijay Sethupathi, Saif will essay the part that R Madhavan had played in the original. The film is being produced by Neeraj Panday and is currently in the pre-production stage, however, both the actors have given a nod to the makers.

Stepping ‘stone’ to Hollywood
Tumblr media
Stepping ‘stone’ to Hollywood - An exclusive interview with actress Shruti Haasan, who will be making her Hollywood debut with the ABC show, Treadstone. You’ve seen her groove in Indian films and croon on stage across the globe, but her next role is that of a kickass assassin in her first ever English project. Actress and singer Shruti Haasan, who’s now making her entry into Hollywood with ABC Network’s Treadstone, will be seen playing the role of Nira Patel, a trained assassin who lives a double life as a waitress in Delhi. A spin-off of the Bourne series, the show is being penned by Heroes creator Tim Kring. A thrilled Shruti, says, “I have a recurring guest role on the show. This character is something I found interesting right from the go. I was in London in the middle of my music shows and was so stressed with everything when I got the call about this role. But I’m the kind of person who takes on as much as I can, so I auditioned and a couple of weeks later, I got a call saying I got the part.” The show revolves around a CIA Black ops program called Treadstone. “It’s a really nice team with a lot of action and I’m really excited for it. The whole setup is amazing and we will start shooting soon. Although I can’t divulge too much about the shoot, I can tell you that the preparation for the show is mostly physical. It’s an action series - if you remember the original films, it had some awesome action, so I’ll be doing a lot of action training,” she says. Continued from Page 17 Recollecting the moment when the big news was broken to her, Shruti reveals that she was spending time with her Dad Kamal Haasan in Chennai, when it happened. “He as usual was very nonchalant and said - good job. He normally tells other people that he’s proud of me, he doesn’t tell me — typical Indian dad,” laughs the actress who reveals that her father has been a major influence on the kind of choices she’s made so far. “In fact, he was the one who asked me to take a break from doing so many films. I was doing seven of them at one point and Dad said I must re-asses my career. He’s someone who has brilliantly managed his career for 15 years, so I took his advice and got back to music. He’s been encouraging and has never thought that international borders are far away - he’s had a global way of thinking” says Shruti. When it comes to her Indian films, the artiste has Laabam, a Tamil film with actor Vijay Sethupathi. Having finished one schedule, she’s thankful to be playing a modern but conscientious role. “Vijay is one of my favourite co-stars. He’s an extremely generous actor — not at all selfish. We didn’t know each other at all, but although I realised he’s friendlier than me, he was also quite reserved. In a couple of days, we got to know each other’s rhythm. I noticed that he’s very helpful and wants everybody to do well — which is a rare thing,” shares Shruti. One thing that keeps the actress going is her fervent fan following on social media. “I can’t call them my fans — they’re like my extended family. I’ve had the fortunate experience of meeting some of them. I plan to have a fan meet soon. . They’ve never questioned my choices and even when everyone else was asking why I wasn’t working etc, they supported me even when I was just sharing nonsense selfies on Instagram! They’re so sensitive to who I am and are well-mannered too. I see stars of some fans get loud, but my fans know that their love’s bigger than other’s hate.” On the personal front, the actress, who recently broke up with her actor boyfriend Michael Corsale has been very open about her relationship status. “I’m glad it was a part of my life. I’ve been working consistently for 10 years and it’s not that I haven’t been in relationships before, but I haven’t had the courage to talk about my personal life in the open. My last relationship was a lovely experience and I have no regrets about it. But now, I’m really happy to be single and focusing on my work —I’ve invested all my love and energy towards my work. I’m not a person who regrets things. I can never understand why people say they can’t be friends with their ex. Then what were they doing getting to know each other? Unless someone is terrible, which thankfully hasn’t happened with me, I don’t see a point in not being cordial,” smiles the actor, who’s always been the kind to be genial with those who’ve shared a personal or professional journey with her.
