Flow (dir. Gints Zilbalodis) x VIFF 2024.

Latvia's wordless animated fantasy follows a black cat escaping destruction alongside other animals on a raft after a flood and unseen disappearance of all human life. Rendered through what resembles PlayStation 2-era visual graphics technology, the intentionally less detailed or complex animation style only enhances the naturalistic journey of animal survival at sea. It's a deceptively simple film full of splendour and majesty.

Screening at the 2024 Vancouver International Film Festival as part of the Showcase series at SFU Woodward's on Oct. 5 and the Vancouver Playhouse on Oct. 6.

Also screening at the VIFF Centre from Nov. 29–Dec. 11 & Jan. 11–18 and Rio Theatre from Jan. 6–11.

Il video, la cui regia è di Massimo Libero Michieletto, ha raggiunto la finale del Veneto International Film Festival (VIFF).

È un tributo e una citazione del celebre film di Marco Ferreri - La Grande Abbuffata (1973) - nel quale la ricerca della morte si sviluppa attraverso la ricerca di piaceri effimeri, come il cibo, trasformandosi alla fine in violenta sofferenza.

Flat Fifty è l’appartamento n. 50 del romanzo “Il Maestro e Margherita” di Bulgakov, il luogo in cui risiede il diavolo una volta giunto a Mosca, una zona bizzarra dove si incontrano strane creature: e questo è pure il significato musicale. Le influenze musicali spaziano dagli anni ‘80 al pop moderno stile Franz Ferdinand, dal metal/glam stradaiolo al rock classico, dal funky seventies al garage dei Kinks.

Doug - batterista dagli improbabili ritmi a là Roxy Music

Baker makes his so-called "socially real" version of the sex worker Cinderella fairytale one might lazily describe as a contemporary riff on Pretty Woman meets something like Uncut Gems. Anora showcases an exhilarating depiction of the whirlwind nature of a twisted romance.

VIFF 2024 Ends On A Good Note

I know that VIFF ended over two months ago, but I lacked the drive to write for a long time. Since we’ve passed Christmas, I figured it’s enough wasting time and to get out the wrap-up blog.
