Visual art is a medium that hosts a large population of creativity. Photographers, videographers, and influencers from New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York have the ability to connect and have meaningful conversations via social media.
Following up from her documentary where she describes her passions and experiences as a studio manager, photographer & businesswoman, Vera Melissa is the first female photographer to be featured on First Frame’s series titled “What’s In My Bag”, where photographers and videographers display what they carry to their photo and video shoots as well as key knowledge that they have gained along their journey to their current position in the industry

This platform challenges creators that “gatekeep” information, where those specific creators do not give out information. With the internet and YouTube, the exact gear shooting and editing style is a click away.
“I specialize in fashion, and maternity shoots, birthday shoots. I want to transition into doing weddings, but that’s a little scary right there.”
A photographer's equipment is unique to their style. Some photographers utilize film only, while others utilize digital and film.
Tumblr media
Sony FX3 with a 70mm-200mm lens used to record
Vera carries a Canon EOS R digital mirrorless camera with a Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 ART lens for general photography and a Sigma 85mm 1.8 ART lens for headshots and detail photos. A 16” Apple Macbook Pro to conduct business, with clients and search for videos on YouTube. She also carries a Nintendo Switch while waiting for clients.
First Frame plans to host celebrity photographers and videographers from across the country where they will shed light on their knowledge in the business aspect of art to aspiring and small to experienced creators alike.

I just have to respond to this because YES. I wrote a fanfic of this for Star Trek: The Next Generation that was basically, original character who is a queen in her own time ends up on the Enterprise and has an enemies to lovers arc with Riker. She was brought there by Q almost by accident and her body is in 'can't age' stasis but the only way she can be sent back to have the life history says she will MUST be that Q finds out she's there and eventually sends her back.
But until then, she and Will fall in love, and they KNOW it can't be forever. He knows who she'll marry. What their kids' names will be. How all of them will die. But right now, in this moment, they can have this, and that's all that matters.
In the story, he'd seen holofilms of her life, she'd basically videojournaled her whole life, and he'd watched them BEFORE she ended up on the ship. And all throughout those holofilms are moments of things he loves, like jazz, and the maroon color of the command uniforms. But when she shows up, she doesn't like jazz.
He realizes that those things are the evidence of his influence on her, once she goes back. She incorporated them as an eternal 'I will always love you,' and he'd fallen for them before they ever met.
It's basically a dead fandom and this is self-indulgent to have spent all that time on it but it made me so happy and I honestly don't think I could have written a better representation of this phenomenon you're talking about!
It's called We, We Who Were if anyone wants to read it.
Ps. the musical Hadestown was such a mood while I was writing this. Jazz? That starts with a TROMBONE? Lyrics like 'I knew you before we met, and I don't even know you yet' ??? Honestly, cinematic life go brrrrrrr
The whole “we both know we’re on borrowed time but we fall for each other anyways” trope is one the most romantic things ever and here’s why:
That trope is basically saying “I know this will break my heart and I know I will never fully recover from this, what’s more I know if I walk away now this will only be an occasional twinge in my heart and nothing more. But for YOU I’m willing to suffer that passion and the heartache it brings, for our short time together I’m willing to spend the rest of my eternity slowly growing my agonizing way around it. Because you surpass my self-preservation and everything I could ever want and I will forgo anything if it means I can have THIS LOVE WITH YOU in my life.”
And it all boils down to: “I will willingly endure the darkness that comes after if it means I can have the most dazzling firework for one fleeting second in my entire life. And that firework, is being in love with you.”
This trope burns me from the core of my heart and I relish in that flame every. single. time.

Celebrating Tradition: The Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival
youtube
In the heart of Philadelphia, a vibrant and captivating celebration lights up the sky each year. That is The Chinese Lantern Festival. This cultural event, steeped in ancient tradition, illuminated the city with its dazzling array of lanterns, intricate artistry, and cultural performances.
The Chinese Lantern Festival is deeply rooted in Chinese history. It marks the end of the Lunar New Year festivities, which occur on the 15th day of the first lunar month. The Lantern Festival takes place annually at Franklin Square, one of the city's five historic squares. The event usually lasts for several weeks, attracting thousands of locals and tourists alike. Organized by the Historic Philadelphia organization in partnership with Chinese artisans in Tianyu, the festival showcases an enchanting display of handmade lanterns that vividly illuminate the night sky.
The centerpiece of the festival is undoubtedly the breathtaking lantern displays. Visitors are treated to a spectacle of larger-than-life lanterns depicting mythical creatures such as dragons, leopards, peacocks, fish tigers, beautiful sakura trees, corals that shoot smoke-filled bubbles for children to pop, iconic landmarks, and tunnels lined with flowers all around. Each lantern tells a story and embodies the cultural significance of the festival.
In addition to the lanterns, the festival also features an array of cultural performances that transport attendees to the heart of China. Visitors can indulge in traditional Chinese music, dance, and acrobatic shows such as juggling, ribbon dancing, and face changers. These performances add to a sense of deeper understanding of the cultural heritage being celebrated.
Interactive Activities: The Chinese Lantern Festival is not just about observing; it encourages active participation. Additionally, tantalizing traditional Chinese cuisine is available, providing a delightful experience for the palette. Beyond the awe-inspiring visual spectacle, the Chinese Lantern Festival fosters cultural exchange and understanding. Philadelphia locals India and Christine Arch stated: “We heard about this event through Instagram and wanted to visit. The lights are so beautiful, and the food just smells so good! The fountain shows are so nice to watch.” The festival acts as a bridge between the Chinese community in Philadelphia and the wider public, fostering mutual respect and appreciation for cultural diversity.
The Chinese Lantern Festival in Philadelphia is more than just an enchanting light display. It's a celebration of tradition, culture, and community. Through its captivating lanterns, vibrant performances, and interactive activities, this annual event showcases the beauty of Chinese heritage while fostering cultural exchange and appreciation. As visitors walk through Franklin Square, they witness the timeless allure of ancient Chinese customs blending harmoniously with the dynamic spirit of Philadelphia. The festival continues to serve as a shining example of how cultural events can enrich the tapestry of a city and inspire connections that transcend borders.
