"oh" - chris says, with such eloquence only he could deliver. brow-pinched, he tried to hide his surprise. clearly, this was unexpected. surely, he wanted to make sure he hadn't mentally scarred yet another concert attendee... not to mention, matt would truly appreciate it. considering. but chris wasn't prepared for a conversation. not one like this, and with a stranger. one who could potentially turn this casual encounter into something to keep record of.

blue gaze falters as she speaks, it falling upon his feet. trying his best to not meet her eyes. this is when he discovered he was wearing no shoes & sock-clad toes curled in an attempt to hide. it helped, somehow. what chris couldn't help, however, were the quick glances & flashes of eye contact. "i-um-" at six-feet-four, sometimes it was difficult to shy from view. "yeah-" brow creased as he swallowed hard "i- that's-" he tried to sound amicable, "yeah." he nodded, as if screaming for help while trying not to drown. where was matt when he needed him? "i- i know." a sigh left him, nearly undetectable, coming out closer to a shudder. "that's-" he shook his head, then corrected himself by nodding, "that's what i meant."

               Jewel could smell the scepticism coming off the other like the way smoke sticks to cloth while she worked her craft. It was something she was far too used to dealing with, so it partially exhausted her and it was also something she greeted like an old friend. Something that just came with the ebbs and flows of her calling.

"One I'll never forget?" She often tried to keep details as vague as possible for the sake of their privacy, unless she had theirs and their families' express consent, and she also didn't want to come off as someone benefitting from their tragedies. But the spirit who came to mind first didn't have any of her sympathy.

"If you're unsure about how you feel about the spirits in the room with us, how do you know how you feel about possession?"

though she knows there is nothing there (at least, nothing that she can see), sara’s gaze trails jewel’s. she studies the empty space, trying to imagine the shape of a person standing there … there is nothing, but if she squints, sara can almost pretend with a trick of the light. the illusion fades just as easily.

“that’s quite a story.” whether or not sara believes it is another thing, but it makes for engaging content. “i think if that were me, that would keep me tethered.” isn’t that a classic story? the vengeful, angry spirit — you see it in poltergeist, the shining, a thousand other horror movies.

sara turns back to jewel, resting her elbow atop of her knee.

“who is a spirit you’ve encountered that you’ll never forget? for better or worse.” a woman murdered for her identity must be up there. “and how often do you see a spirit cross on?”
