V-E Day, 79 years ago
Tumblr media
"I say that in the long years to come not only will the people of this island but of the world, wherever the bird of freedom chirps in human hearts, look back to what we’ve done and they will say “do not despair, do not yield to violence and tyranny, march straightforward and die if need be-unconquered.'"
PM Winston Churchill, May 8, 1945

"Let us not forget, my fellow Americans, the sorrow and the heartache which today abide in the homes of so many of our neighbors—neighbors whose most priceless possession has been rendered as a sacrifice to redeem our liberty."
President Harry S. Truman, May 8, 1945

"Célébrons votre victoire : victoire de Mai, victoire radieuse de printemps qui redonne à la France la Jeunesse, la force et l’Espoir."
General de Lattre de Tassigny, Commander of the Free French Army, May 9, 1945

Remember the Operation Bagration: June–August 1944.
Tumblr media
Victory in Europe could never have been achieved if not for the sacrifice of the Soviet Union in the eastern front. One of the Red Army’s major offensives came in the summer of 1944, and went by the name Operation Bagration. The offensive followed the events of D-Day on the Western Front and aimed to exact revenge for the Soviet losses suffered during the German blitzkrieg known as Operation Barbarossa three years earlier.
Soviet forces gathered 166 divisions on the Belorussian front, and attacked along a 450-mile expanse. The attack was so swift that the Red Army sometimes advanced as much as 15 miles a day. Although caught by surprise, the Germans still exacted a terrible price as Soviet forces suffered nearly 750,00 casualties during the two-month-long operation. But Operation Bagration was soon seen as the death knell of Nazi Germany.

The world has overslept and continues to fail to respond to the threat to humanity from Russia
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's horrifying to watch...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Important read. Quotes that I pick:
"Russia can lose. And it should lose, for the sake of the world — and for its own sake."
❗"The last six months bear this out: Russia’s minor battlefield victories came at a time when the United States was delaying Ukraine aid, rather than supplying it."
"If Russia wins, the consequences are horrifying: a risk of a larger war in Europe, more likelihood of a Chinese adventure in the Pacific, the weakening of international legal order generally, the likely spread of nuclear weapons, the loss of faith in democracy."
Don't be indifferent. Please hear our cry out to the world, keep spreading our voices, and donate to our army and combat medics (savelife.in.ua, prytulafoundation.org, Serhii Sternenko, hospitallers.life, ptahy.vidchui.org, and u24.gov.ua).
