Things from the 2000s that have returned and could return

Well guys, you know that I LOVE everything that has to do with the 2000s, the 90s and the 70s. I had planned this blog for several months but for reasons (Breakdowns, school, exams and etc...) I couldn't do this blog,

 So let's look at some trends from the 2000s that have come back very quietly and others that could come back faster than you think!

1.- The iconic Highlights of the 2000s:

If there is one thing that came back from the 2000s with a pretty big improvement it would be The Highlights, this style was worn by girls like Christina Aguilera (Especially in 2000 and 2002), Kelly Clarkson (in her American Idol and Debut Era), Shakira ( During Laundry Service Era). Well this style is back, the other day a girl at my high school was wearing them and they looked great on her, and this post leads me to the next one.

2.-The Pouf hairstyle:

The most iconic hairstyle of the mid to late 2000s, was worn by almost everyone from Britney Spears, Xtina, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Scherzinger, Hilary Duff and etc... (The greatest heyday of this hair style could be said which was the years 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007), well, what if I told you that this style is making a comeback so to speak? I have seen several people wearing this style, including a friend. (I think the girl in this picture is Addison Rae):

3.- The Gladiator Sandals:

Gladiator sandals or as I like to call them: Roman sandals, I wouldn't know very well if this is very mid 2000s or early 2010s (But investigating well, it could be said that these sandals began to be worn in 2004), this type of Shoes were very essential for boho chic (very characteristic aesthetic of the mid 2000s), Kate Moss and every girl who had the boho chic style wore them. Well, it turns out that when I went on vacation to the beach, I saw a woman with gladiator sandals, would you wear gladiator sandals?

4.-Thin eyebrows:

One of the most hated trends of the 2000s (having its origins in the 20s and 30s), thin brows are making a somewhat chaotic comeback, Doja Cat, Bella Hadid, Rihanna, Barbie Ferreira and other celebrities are embracing this trend. . In my honest opinion, thin brows would look good If only they looked a bit thick plus the brows of the moment would be Fluffy Brows (Which I find pretty unlike Instagram Brows, which scare me a bit as they give a feeling of anger)

5.-Jewelry:

Jewelry in the 2000s was so varied (from hoop earrings, pearl necklaces and rings) it's making a big comeback, I've seen a lot of guys wearing rings on almost every finger on their hands and I've seen a lot of girls with the earrings from earrings, One of the celebrities who is embracing y2k fashion with a lot of style is our dear Riri, I find her outfits super cute, especially this one with jewelry:

6.-Emos?:

The emos were the most iconic subculture of the 2000s, after their disappearance, a great return was expected and precisely with the return to the mainstream of Pop Punk, the subculture could also be returning. Honestly, I have a somewhat conceptualized idea of ​​the possible emos of this decade: Smokey Eyes like Damiano David or Victoria de Angelis, Wearing dark lipsticks or glosses like Willow, Copying MGK's style in a certain way

7.-Scene Kids:

8.-Gaucho Pants:

One of the trends of the 2000s that I personally find great, Ashlee Simpson and Nicole Richie were some of the celebrities who wore this style in the 2000s. This year the Gaucho Pants are beginning to be seen again thanks to some models and TikTok, although Dua Lipa has also worn them

9.-French Tips:

The French Tips were the most iconic nail style of the 2000s (especially if they were a bit small and checkered), they looked simple and pretty, and that's why for their return, they decided to adapt to the tastes of each person (Now the line white can be painted the color you like the most or you can even make some different designs), I like this return of french tips! And you?

10.-Navel Piercing:

This trend was obviously going to come back yes or yes thanks to the revival of Low Rise jeans and the whale tail, I have always liked this trend and I feel that it can shine with a Mid Rise and a Low Rise (I plan to do navel piercing before the end of August)

11.- Uggs:

I saved the best/worst trend for last, yes folks... Uggs are making a comeback (In their original form)I've seen several guys and girls wearing uggs (very similar to the original ones from the 2000s), honestly I wouldn't use that trend, but since I live in a bit of a cold place, some uggs wouldn't do me any harm haha

ok so i read the new erica comic and hyperfixation hit so i had a random impulse to figure out which of her friends was which girl in s3 so!! connie did research

i looked up the instagrams of the actresses listed as erica's friends on imdb-- one of them (victoria seay) wasn't listed on imdb but was linked by the other girls and had pics so it's definitely her

erica has four friends in e1 and three in e2-3, leiloni pharms doesn't appear past e1

kendall denise clark is definitely tanya; she's the tallest of the gang and has a similar hairstyle in e2 that could've served for design inspo

april is a bit harder; both victoria seay and alayna burgess have had ponytails in the episodes. april also only has those bangs sometimes lol

i'd honestly say it's likely that seay is april, her hair looks closest to hers in e2-3, she also seems to be second tallest of the e2-3 gang

kelly could be either leiloni pharms or alayna burgess, both of them had afro puffs at different points. i will say it's probably more likely burgess as she appears in more than one ep and has a closer hair shade but?? who knows

Fashion of the 50s

The fashion of the 50s was definitely one thing: female. Tight-fitting dresses with lavish décolletés, petticoats or pencil skirts shaped the cityscape of the time and wearing a bodice was also part of daily routine. Trousers were hardly ever worn. Appearance of a Grand Dame.

Fashion of the 60s

In contrast to the 50s, the aim in this decade was to show as little bust and waist as possible. The boy's look conquered the younger generation and brought new, shrill colours. Skirts with straps, trouser suits and above all the miniskirt caused a great stir and stood for a change of the fixed norms of the past. Graphic prints and wild colour combinations were also a clear feature of the fashion of the time.

The 70s were the decade of the flower power movement. The time of the hippie culture was also reflected in the fashion of that time and brought along the Peace sign, flower embroideries, wide bell-bottoms and crocheted clothes. Dresses and skirts became longer again and were oriented towards the Indian and cowboy look. Fashion quickly became a means of self-expression and was considered the lifestyle of an entire generation.

Also in the 80s bright colours and eye-catching prints were the order of the day. However, tops became wider and wider and bell-bottoms were replaced by tight-fitting leggings. Bright eye shadow and stormy hairstyles completed the look.

But also Capri- or 3/4 trousers were very popular and belong to the typical features of the fashion of that time.

Even though many trends make their way back into our wardrobe, the current fashion is characterised by straight lines, muted colours and fine accessories. A mix of sporty and classic garments thus creates a modern and style-conscious look suitable for any situation. Colour accents create that certain something and quickly conjure up a harmonious outfit.

As always during 31 Days of Oscar, I partake in an annual fantasy. What would the Oscars look like if I stuffed the ballots - choosing every single nomination and choosing every single winner? It always would look a lot different. Fans of Black Panther and Bohemian Rhapsody and Vice? Come at me.

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, Morgan Neville, Caryn Capotosto, and Nicholas Ma (Focus)

Wholesale changes in this category compared to real life. The best three films of 2018, to me, were Burning, Roma, and Shoplifters -- none of these were in the English language. Films I tossed for Best Picture were Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book, and Vice. I don’t think any of those four films have any business being in this category. In their place are the likes of Eighth Grade, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, and one of the most technically marvelous action films in decades in Mission: Impossible -- Fallout. Yes, an M:I film (superb editing, setpieces, and audacious style that finally wakes the franchise up).

But I’m going for an unexciting pick according to some with Roma. To use an oxymoron, it is an intimate epic -- one crafted beautifully, daring to comment on relations between ethnicities and the sexes at a certain time in Mexico.

I’ll reveal those some day), Aparicio would be the first indigenous woman to be awarded an acting Oscar.

Ali is good, don’t get me wrong. But, compared to the movie Moonlight and his performance in it, it looks like he is about to get a second Oscar for a far worse movie and a lesser role. Ali is fourth or fifth in this lineup for me. Grant is fantastic in Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Best Supporting Actress

This comes down to the fact I couldn’t separate Stone and Weisz’s performances in their saucy movie. Nor could I find the argument to give de Tavira or Yeoh the Oscar. This is a bit of a default choice, I hate to say.

Longtime followers know that I have unorthodox opinions about animated features. The only Animated Feature Oscar I’ve handed to Pixar/Walt Disney Animation Studios since beginning this tradition in 2013 was for Inside Out. I thought Ralph Breaks the Internet was a painful addition to the Disney animated canon, so it is not here. Nor is Wes Anderson’s culturally insensitive Isle of Dogs or Mamoru Hosoda’s sloppy Mirai. At the end of the day? No boat-rocking this time, except in some of the other nominees.

   You know those moments when you’re riding in a car, the breeze is whipping through your hair, the sun down on your neck, and you, supported by a chorus of your best girlfriends, are singing along to the radio at top volume? Don’t you wish they could last forever? There’s something special about a summer bop. It is a song that is just so undeniably upbeat and fun, it demands being blasted from a rolled down window.  It should come as no surprise that some of the best songs to wake up to that have ever graced the radio waves were released by girl groups. According to Billboard Magazine , “There are few institutions with a prouder legacy within pop music than the girl group. For as long as the Billboard Hot 100 has existed, there have been all-female vocal groups gracing its ranks.”  Groups like The Spice Girls, TLC, Destiny’s Child, formed the anthems of our adolescence. Yes, they were beautiful and talented, but more importantly, they helped instill confidence and ambition into entire generations of young women. Today, there are still some amazing girl groups carrying this torch forward.  One of these groups is Little Mix, a UK “X Factor”-formed pop band composed of members Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall. Shortly after winning the national competition and stepping into the music scene in 2011, the girls became megawatt stars. They were the first band to ever take home first place on the British reality show, largely in part due to their insane vocals. When these four ladies come together, their harmonies blow through the roof.  The 9 Best Songs To Wake Up To Touch - Little Mix Told ya! Similar to girl groups of music industry past, Little Mix makes a point to stand up for women around the world. They write and produce a ton of their own music, and infuse it with catchy, yet empowering lyrics like, “You're the man. But I got the, I got the, I got the power. You make rain. The air will turn crisper and the days shorter, but regardless of what other changes this new season brings, I promise I will still be grooving to these summer tunes. If you are anything like me and want to keep the summer vibes going all year long, check out these other famous girl group songs:  Work From Home - Fifth Harmony As a former Harmonizer, I know that Fifth Harmony mentions the word “work” over 90 times in this song, but trust me when I say the repetition shouldn’t dissuade you. After years of success in the industry, “Work From Home” became one of the group’s biggest hits and has currently racked up over two billion views on YouTube. The sexy lyrics on top of the simple synth beat are a match made in heaven, and certified “Work From Home” as one of the biggest songs of 2016.    Lemonade - Danity Kane It’s no secret that Danity Kane was a girl group with internal issues. Members came and went, there were constant rumours of studio fights and the group itself disbanded multiple times. For some reason, this only made me more OBSESSED with them. Although the 2008 released song “Damaged” is probably the girls’ most popular song to date, “Lemonade” is the underappreciated bop I recommend all Danity Kane inquirers listen to first. The girls get a chance to show off their vocals on a hard, rhythmic beat.  Spice Up Your Life - The Spice Girls There is nothing more fun than a song that requires you to scream in order to sing it! Like Little Mix, the Spice Girls are a British pop group, but that did not stop them from achieving world domination. The original group, composed of members Scary Spice (Melanie Brown ), Sporty Spice (Melanie Chisolm), Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell), Baby Spice (Emma Bunton), and Posh (Victoria Beckham), was formed in 1994 and became an entertainment force to be reckoned with. In fact, their debut album Spice is still the best-selling girl group album of all time. Between their eccentric outfits, iconic hairstyles, dynamic voices, and girl power-focused tunes, there was no stopping this group from becoming the cultural icons they were always destined to be.  Hold On - En Vogue  En Vogue is one of the few groups on this list that are still performing together to this day. The group, which has retained half of its original members, has sold millions upon millions of records including this one, “Hold On.” The first minute of the song is acapella magic—completely dedicated to showcasing why these women are considered some of the best R&B vocalists of all time.   Jumpin’ Jumpin’ - Destiny’s Child  “Ladies leave your man at home. I see you. In fact, I am you. Although Destiny’s Child also saw some member fluctuation, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams , and Beyoncé (often called DC3) are considered the holy trio. If I am being honest, every single one of Destiny’s Child’s songs could go on this list—their discography is unmatched—but Jumpin’ Jumpin’ is a particularly perfect song. It’s not super heavy on vocals, in fact Beyoncé’s voice is the only one really heard on the track, but still manages to exude the sex appeal and groove of the entire group. Wannabe - The Spice Girls  Yes, I am including another Spice Girls song on here. No, I will not apologize for it. “Wannabe” is one of the most well known songs in the world and there are few things more fun than shouting “If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends” at the top of your lungs, with your actual best girlfriends beside you. A sure fire hit at every birthday party, karaoke bar, and road trip, “Wannabe” is the perfect song for your summer jams list. In fact, something tells me it’s already on there.  When I Grow Up -The Pussycat Dolls  Okay, confession time. When I was younger, I thought I was going to be a Pussycat Doll. For a while, it was my only dream. I would dance on my bed, pretending it was the car from the music video, and mimic every piece of intricate choreography. I just knew that if I sang loud enough, somehow lead vocalist Nicole Scherzinger was going to come and pluck me out of suburban Long Island in order to usher me into the wild world of the Pussycats. Needless to say, that didn’t happen. Fortunately, I have learned to continue living life despite the pain of this crushed dream, but whenever I hear a Pussycat Doll song I am instantly transported back to that bedroom. Believe it or not, these are just a few of my favorite girl groups; naming them all would be impossible. Even more than my love for their music, is my respect and admiration for the platforms they have created to empower other women. A group of women on stage working, singing, and dancing together is a beautiful thing to witness. It represents a special sisterly bond that is not often seen in the male-dominated music industry. I am always thrilled to support these women year round, but the summer feels like an especially perfect time to crank their music all the way up. Andrea Kelly (born July 31, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Andrea is originally from Aroostook, New Brunswick and started curling in her youth at the Perth-Andover Legion Curling Club along with her brothers Blake and Michael.

Kelly skipped Team New Brunswick in both the 2002 and 2004 Canadian Junior Curling Championships just before winning the tournament in 2005. At the World Junior Curling Championships that year, she skipped Team Canada to a bronze medal. In 2006 she was still eligible for Juniors, nevertheless she dropped in her provincial championships. Nonetheless, she entered her provincial Scott Tournament of Hearts, where she won offering her young group a berth into the national Women’s Championships, the 2006 Scott Tournament of Hearts. At the Hearts, the team finished with a 5-6 listing.

Kelly’s rink once once again result in a Provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts title in 2009, and will represent New Brunswick at the 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Victoria, British Columbia.
