I don't think you fellas understand my pedigree of Trekkie. I'm currently working on getting new shelves to set up a VHS player so I can continue showing my spouse Deep Space Nine on the tapes my parents recorded all of it on
around 2011, my dad threw away almost all of his old VHS tapes. only a handful of tapes survived, with the only retail release being this, a copy of the best of the Chris Rock show volume 2
I've kept this tape over the years, and a while back I noticed something odd. on the back is a label showing an interesting date...
Oh hey, long time no see. Just wanted to confirm that I still retain my fascination with how public domain film was marketed in the VHS era. Thankfully, I'm not alone in that interest, as Ben from "Oddity Archive" has now done a video on how silent film was presented to home viewers, and with what music (sometimes random, sometimes original, often mismatched). Charlie Chaplin, Nosferatu, Metropolis, and more Chaplin! Absolutely worth a watch.
Voyager 2 just got another 3-year extension on its array of scientific instruments! The folks at NASA figured out a way to keep the space probe's power supply going for a bit longer so they can gather more data on space beyond the heliosphere and the influence of our Sun. Not bad at all for a spacecraft launched back in 1977 whose original mission only lasted for four years!
sorry for thinking frank was hot in his secret service outfit and combed hair and tinted chapstick and dollar store sunglasses in the medicine square garden video as if it’s MY fault. EVERYONE looked hot in that video including the girls doing jazzercise in neon leotards. AND the giant evil bug thing
i have been poking around under the stairs for like two hours now and not a single spider actually rather disappointed what country is this supposed to be
Trying to decide how far back on my personal "media of the times" list to actually go (it's currently sitting at 2016ish) a lot of everything post-2016 is very easily accessible still due to having accounts and stuff that log that data and it being more recent in memory than, say, a flash game I played/saw in 2004.
In addition to games I started tracking movies and VHS I had or rented out a lot. Specifically I was obsessed with the Corduroy VHS at my local blockbuster and almost always got it when I went there lmao. Also books that stand out in my memory .... these media lists aren't really supposed to contain EVERYTHING but just umm I guess... almost everything ... just the big things I can remember having or seeing glimpses of ... especially the things that really stuck with me
