Hey vets, if you don't have a VHIC card (VA ID Card) for access to military installations you can enroll into any military installation with your DD214 and Government ID or Driver License for access.

If you plan on flying around the country in 2025 and beyond, you might want to listen up.
You have about 365 days to make your state-issued driver’s license or identification “Real ID” compliant, per the Department of Homeland Security.
The Real ID compliance is part of a larger act passed by Congress in 2005 to set “minimum security standards” for the distribution of identification materials, including driver’s licenses. This means that certain federal agencies, like the Transportation Security Administration or DHS, won’t be able to accept state-issued forms of identification without the Real ID seal.
It's taken a while for the compliance to stick, with DHS originally giving a 2020 deadline before pushing it back a year, then another two years and another two years after that due to “backlogged transactions” at MVD offices nationwide, according to previous USA TODAY reports.
You won’t be able to board federally regulated commercial aircraft, enter nuclear power plants, or access certain facilities if your identification documents aren’t Real ID compliant by May 7, 2025.
Here’s what we know about Real IDs, including where to get one and why you should think about getting one.
Do I have to get a Real ID?
Not necessarily.
If you have another form of identification that TSA accepts, there probably isn’t an immediate reason to obtain one, at least for travel purposes. But if you don’t have another form of identification and would like to travel around the country in the near future, you should try to obtain one.
Here are all the other TSA-approved forms of identification:
◾ State-issued Enhanced Driver’s License
◾ U.S. passport
◾ U.S. passport card
◾ DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
◾ U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents
◾ Permanent resident card
◾ Border crossing card
◾ An acceptable photo ID issued by a federally recognized, Tribal Nation/Indian Tribe
◾ HSPD-12 PIV card
◾ Foreign government-issued passport
◾ Canadian provincial driver's license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card
◾ Transportation worker identification credential
◾ U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766)
◾ U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential
◾ Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)
However, federal agencies “may only accept” state-issued driver’s licenses or identification cards that are Real ID compliant if you are trying to gain access to a federal facility. That includes TSA security checkpoints.
Enhanced driver’s licenses, only issued by Washington, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, and Vermont, are considered acceptable alternatives to REAL ID-compliant cards, according to DHS.
What can I use my Real ID for?
For most people, it's all about boarding flights.
You can only use your Real ID card to obtain access to "nuclear power plants, access certain facilities, or board federally regulated commercial aircrafts," according to DHS.
The cards can't be used to travel across any border, whether that's Canada, Mexico, or any other international destination, according to DHS.
All you have to do to get a Real ID is to make time to head over to your local department of motor vehicles.
Every state is different, so the documents needed to verify your identity will vary. DHS says that at minimum, you will be asked to produce your full legal name, date of birth, social security number, two proofs of address of principal residence and lawful status.
The only difference between the state-issued forms of identification you have now and the Real ID-compliant card you hope to obtain is a unique marking stamped in the right-hand corner. The mark stamped on your Real ID compliant cards depends on the state.

My two cents, fuck REAL ID and the TSA.
I’ve mentioned my disdain for REAL ID several times, esp. with all the waivers and “free” shit being given to illegal immigrants. I’ve never had a need for a VHIC card but turns out that is remaining TSA acceptable should I have to fly somewhere so I recently exercised this option. The best thing, I was able to take and supply my own pic online and don’t have to see anyone, it will come in the mail. Also, fuck that one time $30 fee (PA) – to be clear that’s on top of the standard renewal fee.

Newest Deadline for Arizona Travel ID
Beginning May 3, 2023, if you plan to use your Arizona driver license or ID to board an airplane for domestic air travel within the United States (or to enter a restricted federal building or military base) you will need an Arizona Travel ID. Originally scheduled to be mandatory for flight effective October 1, 2020, the deadline has been delayed more than once due to the COVID pandemic.
The Travel ID may be necessary for compliance with the REAL ID Act passed by Congress in 2005, and therefore might be best described as an Arizona Driver License or Identification Card which is REAL ID-compliant. The cost of the enhanced ID is $25.00, and for US citizens is valid for 8 years unless age 65 or older, in which case is it valid for 5 years. The Travel ID is identified by a gold star in the corner, and does not contain an RFID chip.
Having said that, there are several other forms of REAL ID-compliant identification which may be used, such as: a valid US passport or passport card, DHS Trusted Traveler card (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST), US Department of Defense ID, permanent resident card, border crossing card, acceptable photo ID issued by a federally recognized Tribal Nation or Indian Tribe, HSPD-12 PIV card (federal ID), foreign government-issued passport, Canadian provincial driver license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card, transportation worker identification credential, US Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization card (I-766), US Merchant Mariner Credential or Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC). See the TSA.gov website for further information.
Those holding a standard Arizona driver license or ID who wish to acquire a Travel ID can begin an application online, make an appointment to visit an MVD office, and get more information about documents ADOT needs to issue the ID at the azdot.gov website.

Introduction
In my recent Personality Test, I discovered that I have the "Mediator" INFP-T personality type. This personality type is characterized by being Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Prospecting and Turbulent. As a Mediator, I am deeply empathetic and passionate about helping others, especially when it comes to drawing or playing video games. I feel a strong connection to my values and strive to make the world a better place, one small act of kindness at a time. While I may be introverted, my passion for helping others allows me to make a significant impact, fostering
As a Mediator, I am deeply committed to my principles and driven by a genuine desire to help others as long as I can and bring about positive change. I often speak up when I encounter injustice or wrongdoing, guided by my sensitivity and insight. Rather than coming across as forceful, I communicate with a gentle yet persuasive approach that resonates with others. My intentions are pure, rooted in a sincere wish to do the right thing rather than seeking power or control. Even when I disagree with someone, I strive to find common ground, using my empathetic nature to bridge differences and foster understanding. In my daily life, I am dedicated to standing up for the people and ideas I believe in, approaching situations with compassion, dedication, and care. I am a kindhearted and trustworthy person, fully aware of the impact I can have on those around me. I am ambitious and organized, with a natural inclination to work hard and support others. However, I recognize that my strengths, such as being overly idealistic or empathetic, can sometimes lead to challenges. Despite this, I continue to strive for a balance that allows me to make a meaningful difference without spreading myself too thin.
