WHY WHO WOULD POSSIBLY CURSE ME LIKE THIS?! ONLY ONE?!?! Sigh. I won't cheat and say 'torture' as a blanket term so.

Gotta go with some sort of captivity. Speedsters in general don't like to be stuck in one place, and even without some form of physical torture :( , it's a good psychological whump strategy. It proves extremely effective for him specifically because while he's trapped, he'll be constantly worrying about his loved ones and Central City in general because in this situation, he doesn't know anything happening outside of wherever he's being kept :)

8. Intimate Torturer + W. “Don’t bite” - Eobard Thawne/Barry Allen

(TW: NSFW, blood and head injury, Eobard being his own content warning)

There’s something fascinating about watching his own blood dripping from the side of his face, the steady drip of it creating a quickly drying puddle on the floor below. Barry doesn’t entirely see it, vision going in and out and sort of tunneling, his focus not really there when a palm cups his jaw and makes him look up. 

His head lolls into the grip. He’s vaguely aware of more blood pearling on the wound on his head and then going down along his temple, touching the other man’s wrist and ending up falling after a semicircle on his forearm. 

«Look at you.» A familiar voice says, but Barry has been hit on the head way too strongly to make any sense of who it belongs to. «You poor thing… it really doesn’t take all that much to put you out of commission, Flash.» Something dabs at his head and Barry flinches, pain spreading from the open wound. He tries to retreat but doesn’t get to go anywhere, the hold on his jaw sufficient to keep him right there. 

He still finds himself held against another body, kept still while pressure is applied to the side of his head. It doesn’t take long for him to stop fighting it, he lost a lot of blood and everything is so fuzzy already. He’s leaning his weight forward soon enough, eyes closing by themselves now that he doesn’t need to fight to keep his balance while kneeling down, and he’s pretty sure he heard a quiet “tsk” but pays it no mind. 

Arms surround him more tightly, hands reach his bound wrists behind his back, and then there’s a click like a lock opening. Something heavy is lifted from his forearms and just like that Barry feels like he can breathe again, electricity suddenly coursing through him and filling him up and it’s so soothing he groans quietly, the pain of his injuries immediately starting to grow dull. 

And then he’s hit with the fact that he needs to get away. He needs to get away right now, before-

The shackles click back in place and cut the connection with his powers again, his attempt to struggle through it prevented by how securely Thawne is holding him against his chest. It was just a minute but Barry finds himself lucid, the wound on his head regenerated enough to have stopped bleeding albeit it’s still raw, his body throbbing and shaking in the renewed, painful distance with his lightning. 

He’s still breathing hard when Thawne stands on his feet, a hand fisted into his hair to keep him looking up. «Couldn’t let you bleed out.» He says in a casual tone, taking back the folded napkin to wipe blood from Barry’s cheek. He tries to jerk his head away with a grunt but he’s held fast. «Now, now… » Napkin discarded, steel strong fingers dig into his jaw to pry it open and then three of them fit past his lips. «See that you don’t bite. If you do, I'm just going to bash your head open again.» 

Barry feels his eyes growing hot but closes them shut and forces himself to keep it together. It’s been a day of this already, maybe something more. He’s tired. He can tell the other is getting worked up by how he’s forcing him to swallow around his fingers, and just makes an effort to tune himself out.

Talk Shop Tuesday: tell me about your characters who have pets (or in some way keep animals, from pets to farm animals to service/support animals)! How did they adopt their pets? What do their pets' names mean? Do any of them have particularly interesting or exotic animals?

confession time! I usually forget to give my characters pets lol but I do have a couple (mainly because their canon counterparts have pets lol) regardless, I'm adding pictures so under the cut cause long post XD

Ricki: has a grey and white three-legged pitbull puppy named Haly (as a reference to Haly's Circus) who she found and rescued during a mission shortly before the start of Only With the Falling of The Dusk

Jessie: has a fluffy orange service cat named Mao (Chinese for cat, a reference to Jason having a dog that he named Dog in the comics for a little bit lol)

Dami: a tuxedo cat named Alfie the Cat (named for their butler [is she still a butler? she is now lol] Alfea Pennyworth), a Great Dane named Titus, a cow named Batcow, and a bat (dragon-demon-thing?) named Goliath

Brie: has a service German Shepherd named Ace - Alfea adopted her after Brie's back was broken, during her recovery

Kal: has an orange cat named Streaky

Hartley: has three robot rats named Moon, Hamelin, and Erdős

Yǔqí: has two snakes, Vladimir (a Woma Python) and Cậu Bé Dài (a Vietnamese Blue Beauty)

Set: has a seeing-eye Egyptian sheepdog named Mo (meaning defender)

This is a fantastic idea!! Idk how much time I'll have for reading since my irl life has been INSANE lately, but I'm happy to rec some fics I love from smaller authors that deserve more attention!

In Too Deep by @negative-speedforce - set in the Flash universe and following a team of new teenage sorta-superheroes... but shit gets dark fast. If you love action, angst, and some absolutely KILLER character dynamics, this is the fic for you!

When I'm Alone With You by @can-of-pringles - set in the Ghost (band) fandom, this fic is adorable yet shockingly profound and emotional at times. It's a slowburn that'll just have you dying for the two leads to finally get together!!

Coming Back to Life by @theonetryingtolive - a compilation of various Marvel characters and a thrilling story woven around them, this fic did and still does have me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next! Action-packed, exhilarating, and every character is written to a tee. Highly recommend!

The Hawthorne and the Dirt Farmer by @witchy-self-shipper - in the Ghostbusters universe, this fic is unique and lovely and wonderful in so many ways! It's rare to see older characters/relationships represented in fanfic, and rare to see healthy polyamorous relationships as well. This fic is the first in the series, but I'd highly recommend reading on if you enjoy it!

Protecting Yourself and the Ones You Love by @warcats-cat - Yes, she made the original post, but it would be unfair to list some fic recs and not include her since her writing is fantastic! This fic is set in the Good Omens universe and features some devastating whump - my heart hurts just thinking about it! Short and sweet, it's a masterclass in angst writing.

His Tenebris Moenibus by @nebulousfishgills - set in the Stranger Things universe, this fic features easily one of the most interesting and entertaining OCs I've ever seen. Emily is charming and witty, yet downright chilling when it comes down to it. I'm utterly obsessed, and you will be too - as long as you're an angst fan.

Blue Streak by @vexic929 - set in the Flash universe, this fic is in its early beginnings but is already completely enthralling! We're talking fascinating action sequences, interesting characters, and some intriguing foreshadowing that I'm sure will come into play later... really, if you want action-packed fics, I'd recommend anything from Vexic's body of work :D

Biting the Hand That Feeds by @sashathedoge - set in the Fallout universe, another fic in its early beginnings (really, it's more a collection of oneshots), but their OC Joel is easily one of the most chaotic and compelling characters I've ever read. I mean, this guy's a wild ride, and you're bound to enjoy every minute of it!

You Might not Fear a Man (But a Woman by the End) by @noodles-07 - set in the Witcher fandom, this fic is a fascinating AU in which Yennefer becomes a Witcher rather than Geralt (and, if I'm correct, there may be sequels that involve a mage-Jaskier and a bard-Geralt, which sounds delightful!). This fic is powerful, emotionally-charged, and action-packed, and absolutely deserves a read!

You get... A snippet from an upcoming chapter of Too Far Gone! CW: Child Death, Human Experimentation, Mad Science

"My name is Eobard Thawne." The younger version of Siv's father on the screen began. "And this is my first attempt at creating... something extraordinary."

In the video, he stood up, taking the camera along with him into a lab, where he showed a table with a body, a child's body, lying on it. The girl on the steel slab was blonde, likely about four years old, and appeared to be dead.

"I grew this body from my own DNA- with a few edits, of course." He seemed almost... giddy, like this was something he'd been planning for a very, very long time. "At the moment, it's inatimate, just dead tissue. But I'm going to make it into so much more."

 A weight in Siv's stomach pulled down on her core. Something told her to turn back while she could, to return to the blissful ignorance before finding this. Nevertheless, she pushed on, watching in silent horror as Eobard pulled down a pair of safety goggles over his eyes, carrying the camera into a transparent booth in the corner of the futuristic laboratory. He pulled a lever, and blinding light flooded into the room, centered around the body on the table. 

When he returned, the body was charred and mutilated, and Siv was grateful that it was just inatimate tissue. Eobard walked over to the body, pointing the camera at it. Suddenly, its arm lashed out, grabbing onto Eobard's leg. Scorched eyelids cracked open, revealing gray-blue eyes that Siv had seen a thousand times before, whenever she looked in the mirror. Tears streamed down from the child's eyes, as if they were trying to plead for something.

In a flash of scarlet lightning, Eobard's fist slammed through the child's chest, and the body went limp. Siv wasn't sure whether that was a kill from anger or mercy, and wasn't sure she wanted to know, either.

"A failure." Eobard pointed the camera at his face. His lip curled, eyes narrowed, in a way that made Siv's stomach churn from memories of childhood. "But no matter. There'll always be another attempt."

L'Harann has taken a liking to a plant growing in your OC's garden/window/wherever they can grow plants and is determined to study it - what do they do? :)

I feel like most of them would just be willing to either give her the whole plant, or give her a cutting to propagate herself. I can't really imagine any of them doing anything more interesting- except maybe Director Hawke, since she's already wildly xenophobic and would assume that L'Harann would be using the plant for something evil.

I love TOH, but Winx has owned a special place in my heart for the vast majority of my life (I started watching it when I was 8, for reference). Several of my first crushes were Winx characters (Stormy, Aisha, Musa), and that show was a huge part of my lesbian awakening.

Again, I love Nora West-Allen so much, she's a more interesting and complex character than a lot of people give her credit for, but... sweaty MILFs with muscles in tank tops. I'm sorry. Kathryn Janeway is EVERYTHING.
