They sometimes forget that it's not normal to walk through wall and in other servers where they aren't vexs they walk into walls and doors
Yes. So much.
Cub was nearly banned for doing this in MCC one time, he just fazed through half a Hole in the Wall wall and everyone got mad.
Also when Grian first arrived on the server in Season 6, he was straight out from being indoctrinated by the Watchers and didn’t trust Vexlings. He saw Scar fazing through a wall into his shop, freaked out, found Xisuma, and told him Scar was a Vexling and had to be banned, and just spoke for 15 minutes before Xisuma got a word in edgeways and said he already knew, everyone knows, they do that all the time and no, I’m not banning Cub and Scar.
Scar did it once in Third Life in front of Jimmy and no one will ever forget the way Jimmy just SHRIEKED at the sight.

Mother, will you be traumatizing us with Wels next chapter?
Is that even a question? XD
And since y'all have been so patient...
-----------------
Cub and helmet stranger were talking.
They had been talking for over an hour while the party and a bunch of other strangers that Wels couldn’t keep straight just sat and… mostly watched.
Sure, a side comment was said or someone whispered in the background but it had mostly been just the two talking.
And they still were talking.
Wels was not just confused, now, but also… empty?
He felt… tired? That didn’t seem right. He didn’t want to lie down or feel like his eyes were trying to close on their own. But he had listened to this conversation on a loop for hours. Even without his dialogue logs, he knew that most of the conversation had been just repeating the same lines back and forth, with slight revisions here and there.
For what purpose? Wels had no idea.
Some of the strangers were not even paying attention anymore. Scar was playing with the flower on the table, someone in a blue shirt was scribbling into a notebook, a young man in a suit was fiddling with redstone dust, a blond-haired woman was sharpening a knife, a zombified woman was sketching something on a napkin, just little movements here and there.
Wels was not exactly sure what was happening, but the conversation reminded him of some quests that adventurers liked to know every detail of before accepting. The reward, the danger, the experience points, any lore about it, all the details.
Only instead of those things, Cub and helmet stranger were talking about a server, security, and some kind of deal.
And it seemed like it finally came to an end.
“I think we’re ready,” Cub announced, loud enough to make a stir. He glared at Scar for some reason, then sighed. “Come here.”
Scar got up and made his way over to the pair.
Cub held an arm out to the helmeted stranger. “Grab my forearm.”
The helmeted stranger did so. It looked almost like a handshake, but instead of hands, they grasped the inside of their arms…
For some reason.
Cub took a deep breath and closed his eyes. A light blue light began to glow around his arm, enveloping the helmeted stranger’s arm as well. When Cub opened his eyes again, they were glowing the same color. His voice seemed… sharper. Like when Scar got Wels to somehow talk only a few hours (wait, how long had it been? Hours? Days? Years?) ago.
“Xisuma, Last of the Voidwalkers,” Cub’s voice was loud. “I offer you a deal.”
The helmeted stranger didn’t say anything, but they certainly looked uncomfortable.
“I offer you the protection of the Vex, from myself and my manor,” Cub glanced at Scar. At the look, Scar’s eyes and hands began to glow the same light blue. He took his hands and stuck them out straight, one hovering over Cub and the stranger’s arms, the other under.
Scar was biting his lower lip, either in pain or fear, but there was a determination in his eyes.
“In exchange for our protection,” Cub continued, “You will give my manor sanctuary of your own and you will help my manor when called upon.”
The blue was getting brighter with each word.
“If you fail to provide or refuse to provide the terms of this deal, then you will face the wrath of a scorned manor–”
Wels felt something in his chest twist at that. He looked down and felt his mouth open and some kind of sound came out.
There was a blue light coming out of his chest.
That wasn’t normal.
That definitely wasn’t normal but also none of this was “normal.” What was happening–?
Iskall was suddenly there, hands gripping Wels’ shoulders. “You’re okay, Wels. It’s okay, see I got one too–”
And sure enough, Iskall had his own blue light, only this one was coming from his mechanical eyes and Ren’s silver pendant was glowing too for some reason–
“We’re the manor,” Iskall said gently. “Cub and Scar needed more people for their side of this deal, so we’re the manor. Scar told you this, remember?”
No.
No, he didn’t remember–
Cub’s voice rang loudly in Wels ears, “Do we have a deal, Xisuma, Last of the Voidwalkers?”
The helmeted stranger’s voice sounded weak compared to Cub’s. “Yes.”
“The manor witnesses,” Cub looked at Scar.
Scar took his hands and grasped them around the two’s wrists. His hands glowed brightly and there was a flash of blue light that temporarily blinded Wels.
When the light cleared, Cub and Scar were both staring at their hands with… surprise? Their eyes were still glowing blue and Cub began to… giggle?
The helmeted stranger looked very concerned at that. “Um… Cub?”
“Give them a bit,” the blue-haired man with two different colored eyes said from behind the bar. “When Vex make a deal they get kind of a magic… high? They’ll be fine in a few hours.”
Scar was now giggling, a sharp smile stretching across both his and Cub’s faces.
The blue-haired man rolled his eyes, “But seeing as I don’t want property damage done to my bar…” he waved his hands, and suddenly Cub and Scar were just… gone.
Iskall was no longer with Wels now and was charging across the room at the barkeep, only to be intercepted by another stranger (with… mouse ears?). “Easy, pal– Scott just teleported them to a random section of the woods a few thousand blocks away. They’ll cool off and they’ll be back by morning.”
“A warning would have been nice!” Ren snapped.
Wels had no idea what was going on.

Love how Pharaoh Cub and Scar's relationship is in your stories. Defiantly want to see Scar being smug when he wins against the Pharaoh, only for it to vanish when he still gets dominated by that man. lol. (Side note, can I ask for some details on the Pharaoh's personality vs Cub's? And in how they differ in treating people?)
Oh yes, when I have the last chapter of the first part of the Lost Prince AU posted tomorrow tomorrow, I'll have to get back to the Pharaoh TCG fic, now that Scar's finally won. I have a few ideas brewing. >:D
As for the Pharaoh vs Cub, I have some thoughts. Here I'm talking just about them as characters and how I tend to write them. And this does touch on shippy things and D/s dynamics but more to illustrate the differences, just as a head's up for ppl not comfy with that kind of thing. <3
in the context of the Pharaoh as his own separate being, he's very... domineering, in a way. He's a god, of course he's better than everyone else. He knows his own power and how to use it. This is not to say he's just a tyrant, because he's not. He just demands respect and will punish anyone who fails to give it. In his land, in his pyramids, the Pharaoh's rule is absolute and you will obey him. But he will be sweet to those he cares about and loves. Even in submission to, say, Beef, it's a choice, a command, he's setting the rules of their engagement and their dynamic so he gets what he wants out of it.
also ofc he possesses Cub, he IS Cub, he knows what that boy likes ffs. XD
Cub isn't like that. He's more of a brat. Maybe he'll obey, but maybe he won't. He does his own thing, but it's not coming from a sense of divine authority, of being over everyone else. He's just entertaining himself. Cub's the 'seek forgiveness rather than ask permission' kind of brat (most of the time anyway). He's also not a mouthy, loud brat either. He's the quiet type, the ones you don't really notice until you realise the mess they've caused lol. Not really interested in leadership; more interested in building secret tunnels and stealing artefacts lol. He's a sneaky boy. :D But he also cares a lot too. He knows their boundaries and where to draw the line, because he's silly but he's not stupid.
Unlike the Pharaoh who is in control when he submits, for Cub, he really isn't. At least, obedience is earned (or taken) by higher powers, whether that's King Ren or Scar or the Vex or the Pharaoh, it doesn't matter. For the Pharaoh, there is no higher power than him; for Cub, that isn't the case. Lack of control is what he likes.
You can contrast this nicely with Cub and Scar and their relationship with the Vex. For Scar, there's a more business-like feel to their arrangement. He doesn't kill Vexes bc he's not allowed, and they give him all the riches he could ever want and place him in positions of power like the Mayorship. For Cub, it's totally different. It's subservience to a higher power, a possessive power, something deserving of worship and respect. It brings power too, and magic, and prosperity, as long as he gives his body to the Vex to do with as they please.
This is why Scar is the Power, and Cub is the Vessel. Scar represents the power and magic of the Vex, and Cub is what that power fills and is channelled through. Adding False as the Will gives that magic purpose and direction. She makes their work more effective, though they've done plenty on their own.
The Pharaoh would never bow to the Vex the way Cub does. He has his own magic that is just as powerful, if not moreso, than that of the Vex. He sees his Vex magic as useful, but he has better tools at his disposal, so he uses them instead. After all, he is a god. Gods do not bend their knee to silly creatures like Vex. But he does lean on it a little with Cub, because Cub is weak to it like Scar is.
The Pharaoh's magic is also very hot and fiery, whereas the Vex prefer ice and coldness. They are opposites in that regard. The Pharaoh's magic simply burns all the effectiveness of Vex magic away, which is why he doesn't really use it himself. He's the son of Ra, the sun god. Ice magic is useless against him. The Vex can't possess a god either; he's not a player, in the way Cub was a player before he was Pharaoh. I mean, he IS, but he also really isn't. The Kingly Ka, the divine soul of Horus that makes someone Pharaoh, is what makes him divine. He's no longer simply human after that point.
The Kingly Ka was never passed on to young Cub tho. It's not young Cub we see as the Pharaoh in the TCG arena, but old Cub. Pharaoh Cub. The one who is divine. It's on the card, too. Cub is not the Pharaoh, he's a separate being now. He died at the end of s7 after building a pyramid, which is traditionally the tomb for a king, and s8 is Cub's metaphorical journey through the afterlife before he returns for s9. This is me getting back on my Book of Caverns bullshit, but it is the title of a real Ancient Egyptian book of the afterlife, and what did Cub spend s8 building? A canyon filled with caverns! The moon crashing into the earth can be seen as his way of understanding his death and transformation/rebirth into his young skin in s9. bc that's how I'm dealing with the whole 's8 was a simulation' lore from RenDoc.
Anyway. I think that's enough brainrot for now. I don't want this getting any more unhinged than it already is lol. :D If you have further questions, please do ask! I'd love to ramble about this some more. <3

I stole this idea from @miss--river, but I decided to go the gym leader route & choose 1 typing for their teams! Wren is a bug-type trainer and Vex is a ghost-type trainer ^^

Guess where my Tango-is-a-Vexling headcanon came from.
(well, and Decked Out, but...)
Full headcanon (because how hasn't this been one of the RCCs?) of Convexification?
-Cub and Scar went exploring a woodland mansion after Season 4 for fun.
-Scar got 'claimed' by the Vex.
-Cub freaked out (especially since Scar was basically dead for a bit), and got claimed too
-Both woke up in creepy cells beneath the Vex Cathedral.
-The Vexling Leader forced Scar to tell the Vex about him and Cub.
-Cub and Scar were forced to full powers and sent, unconscious and bleeding, to Hermitcraft Season 5
-Hermits freaked out. Tango and False are already Vexlings, so they recognise the signs. But, due to Vexling hate, they don't tell Xisuma how they know
-Cub's searching for heads. He decides to get Tango's help on finding Vex heads as he failed first time
-They get the vex heads
-Cub is possessed into giving Scar the vex head
-They Convex
Tumblr media
convex fun fact
tango helped cub get the vex heads the convex later used. cub only needed one for his all-mob-heads collection but they ended up getting two and tango gave the extra one to cub

Allay.
Fresh souls from dying men are severed in half using profane dark magic, the malevolent and destructive components of the soul producing a Vex and the constructive and benevolent components of the soul producing an Allay. Allay are kept as pets or lab rats by the illagers, or they are warped into vex, though these are more unstable than normal ones.

Vexes and Allays
Ancient forest dwellers, probably existing since the Pioneers era. Many Allays live in the dense forests, hiding from the gaze of travelers. However, when meeting them, fairies do not show hostility, due to the fact that they rarely encountered the cruelty of other people's intentions. That's why they become a really easy target for traders and hunters
Vexes are the fairies of the Dark Forest. As with Illagers, The Dark Forest changed fairies in its own way. For their unceasing passion for hunting and fighting Evokers use them in battle mostly

Animal Talent!Scar and his trusty steed, Jellie the cat!
Also I wanted to infodump about the ConVex in this AU:
Fairies become Vexes when directly exposed to large amounts of corrupted magic which changes them both physically and mentally, making them vicious and blood thirsty
Tumblr media
The process is reversible, but requires restraining the Vex which can be quite the challenge. And even when cured, the Vex magic will leave permanent changes to the fairy’s body, like lingering blue pigmentation, slightly sharpened teeth and altered wing shape
Tumblr media
Neither Cub nor Scar will tell anyone how exactly they managed to expose themselves to enough corrupted magic to get turned into Vexes
But based on the faces they make when asked, it probably happened because they were doing something very, very stupid.

During Double Life, Cub knew there was something wrong. Someone was there, someone was tied to them and he could do nothing about it, Scar had vanished again and someone was trying to use him. It wasn't the Vex who did this, they'd go into a rage every time Scar was taken, one of their most valued servants. This was not the work of his own kind, it was something else trying to rewind Scar's nature and chain it to one of theirs. Grian was hungry. Hungrier than he'd ever been before, and nothing was helping. Scar said it wasn't too bad, it got like this every time, it wasn't too bad. it'd be worse next week, and then the week after, until he wished he felt the like he did now. Until the red haze set over and they could feast. If he listened closely, he could hear the screaming. Thousands of voices spewing hatred at the bond and their captors. And amongst that, a single familiar whisper from beyond the veil.
Ohhh yea double life angst, we love it
1: Cub could definitely feel some sense of Grian being bound to Scar. And probably also a bit of that Watcher stuff. The idea of the Watchers trying to diminish Scar's vex power so they could safety soulbound him to Grian without the vex/watcher magic is very cool. And Cub feeling that, knowing something's wrong, knowing the vex are angrier than usual for the start of a Life Series.
I can see Cub confronting Grian after week 2 or 3 when he's absolutely 100% certain that something is up with Scar's magic and Grian needs to stop it.
And Grian probably snaps back at Cub about the Vex. Because while Scar's losing vex magic, Grian's gaining some with the soulbinding. Because Scar's soul IS a vex soul, shared with Cub, and that's what turned him into a vexling. And Grian doesn't like feeling a growing urge to be chaotic or, or the vague sense of whether the vex are happy or, most of the series, furious at him.
After the life series, the double life bonds didn't disappear completely. Some pairs still felt a pull to be with each other (Ranchers, Boat boys), some still felt the vague echoes of eachother's pain.
And Grian and Scar kept some little bit of that corruption from each other's magic. The Watchers were aware of Scar, even more than before, as a threat, eventually leading to him being trapped after Secret Life. Grian still felt that pull towards the vex, including a woodland mansion in Limited Life and living in it, and the choice of a giant, glowing white smile on quiz-bot's face.
Even Cub still kept soulbound to Grian a little. Grian messing around with the sculk led to its interest in Cub as a target, choosing him as the one Shubble sent into the Evermore where he got possessed.

"but, scar." he brushes his fingertips over the ridges in scar's skin. "there are tales written into your skin. and you've lived through every single one of them."
Vex war paint is meant to symbolize something for the warrior it’s bestowed upon — for Nico, it’s jewels of a crown, for Kane, whiskers of an untamed beast.
For Scar… a dare.
(go ahead, leave another wound across his skin. he will live, but you will not.)

Can I get 9 and B for both Wren and Vex? 😘
Thanks for the questions, Wash! ♡
9. Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
They both do! Although Wren has a hard time with it and tends to mix up phrases or use curse words incorrectly (you can see it in my writing occasionally, here & here!).
As far as remembering their first one, again, they both do! Vex remembers literally everything, and remembers vividly saying "fuck" for the first time while they were changing their grades in the school's computer system- they got caught (they are much better at hacking nowadays)! Wren remembers her oldest brother teaching her swear words as a kid but she was always too nervous to actually say any of them. She was about 13 before she was finally convinced to say "ass"
B) What inspired you to create them?
When I first played cyberpunk I went in knowing absolutely nothing and had no context about anything, so I made a character who was a shell, basically, and had no attachment. After playing about halfway through the story I realized I needed a character with a personality, and I was curious to see how a kind, naive, overly-trusting character would fit into Night City and thus, Wren was born!
Vex was created because of my curiosity of other lifepaths! I knew I wanted a stealthy character for my second play through, and I imagined an enigma because of how we really only know V as...V. I also wanted to experience different outcomes and different possibilities (who am I?), so I figured I'd create a character completely opposite to what I had done before.
[Uncommon Questions]
