Maverick's original creator here, and I just want to say something I've been wanting to say since he was introduced, but Mod has done an excellent job portraying him, really selling him as a manipulative scumbag who's lovably hateable, and that bit towards the end exploring how it might just be a defense mechanism for a horribly traumatized man is something I had never even thought of before, the whole thing is just *chef's kiss*. Serious props to Mod for his hard work throughout this arc, and the whole blog in general, definitely my personal favorite so far (but I'm also very biased)

Can we perhaps get the monkey cult lore? My curiosity is piqued...

So the official lore is that the monkey cult, cult in this comtext meaning a small religious sect ie the historical definition of cult, is a mystery cult. Its exact methods and rituals are completely unknown to all but one entity out side their ranks.

to the point that its not actually clear who is who for the most part. The three main groups, The Babies, The Monkeys, and The Chickens act separately, and it is unclear which group represents the gods, the sacrifices, or the congregation. The only other true member of the cult is The Priest, a gnomish figure, he is the silent and stoic leader, known for his moving sermons.

the only other entity associated with the cult is The Little Man, he is merely a passive observer, his goals and means and thoughts unknowable to all but himself.

Last Movie I watched: 500 Days of Summer (mostly was interested in all the analyses breaking down the themes of it and wasn’t disappointed)

Currently Reading: I’ll be honest haven’t picked up a book in a while but “The Girl He Used to Know” by Tracey Garvis Graves is a wonderful love story with a very good plot twist that comes after a less shocking twist (like there’s a reveal that has you like “oh this all makes sense now” and then another one that really just hits you with the complexities of the main character’s choices) 10/10 last book I loved

Currently craving: chocolate raspberry cake

Currently watching: Bridgerton (got into it a couple months ago and am so hyped for the new season!)

Coffee or tea: I’ve always been a both kind of person especially since I’m currently a barista. Mostly depends on my mood if I really need the caffeine lol.

He figured Yukizome had sent the kid in out of some sense of pity for him, Araki hadn't struck him as someone who took initiative, or someone who was insistent. Maybe he'd misjudged the kid. "Did he give more details? Mention any specifics?" Nothing particularly jumped out at him as someone the kid had wanted to tell him, but maybe that was because he'd been the one to initiate conversation? Dammit, if only Yukizome had told him that Araki was here on his initiative instead of hers…

He just said that something was telling him that it was important for you to meet. It didn't even sound like Araki-kun knew himself why he wanted to meet you. He's got a special ability a lot of people can't comprehend, so I didn't question it.
