i know that jiang cheng and liu qingge fill in similar roles in their respective mxtx stories (2nd male lead-esque, kind of tsundere, good at fighting etc.) but equating the two just feels incomparably worng to me.

idk how else to phrase this but liu qingge is a lot more honorable about the fact that his feelings towards the protagonist, romantic or otherwise, are unrequited. he never ONCE seems to think or act like shen qingqiu has slighted him.

liu qingge doesn't treat shen qingqiu like the man owes him something. he's a loyal guard dog type protecting shen qingqiu wherever possible, straightforward with his thoughts instead of obfuscating any bitterness or disagreements with passive-aggression, and most importantly he respects shen qingqiu's decisions even when he hates them and leaves him alone instead of badgering or insulting him.

none of which jiang cheng did with wei wuxian, past or present.

this wasn't the actual prompt but i wanted to draw her lol

the way people are trying so, so hard to constantly defend caitlyn after a member of a community hers violently and horrifically oppressed took a stand is insane. you can understand a character’s actions while not personally agreeing with it, and i’ve seen people agree with caitlyn’s increasingly brutal and cruel actions; such as weaponizing the grey against the zaunites immediately after she gained knowledge of its existence, directly undoing the work of the woman she wants to avenge. the death of cassandra was horrific, yes. caitlyn blames herself for allowing her affection toward vi to cause her to not take the shot. she’s grieving and she’s losing herself. but it is made very explicitly clear that she’s in the wrong. it’s suppose to be uncomfortable because she is in the wrong, because she is very actively losing herself. it’s to show how a privileged person can very easily fall into this fascist, disturbing mindset after experiencing a fraction of their society’s oppressed community endures. her language, her physical body language, it’s all very intentional. she’s calling the very people she wanted to help animals, she’s weaponizing the ability to breath against them, she’s willing take a risk and shoot a child. we’re not supposed to look at her actions and think she’s in the right. she’s losing herself to her grief and need to kill jinx and she’s wrong. that’s, like, the whole point of this part of her arc.

Putting it under read more because there's a lot.

So given the Deadlands characters have very little backstory we are headcannoning a lot here. Bare with me.

Edie, I imagine as a rouge (was torn with bard), who uses her sweet charms to get the information she needs. Picks up shifts in taverns in exchange for a roof for a few days.

Garnet is just Prudance 2.0. Since we don't know much of backstory, I can imagine her being a reserved magic user who does not talk about where her magic comes from, because lets be honest a less than savoury patron really doesn't go down well. (Also the idea of her having like a deck of many things, or where her patron picks the cards delt to deal damage would be fun)

Silas, I'm sorry this man is a barbarian. There is no other thing he could be, it's the unfiltered rage. Though I liked the idea of him duel wielding blades like his pistols. Also having miss matched armour to reflect he used to be someone important, the hints of his 'law man' image.

Nate, Okay so. Nate I struggled with. I'm thinking a paladin of some kind? Also I don't know how to translate, was at one point dead and now lives on alcohol and jerky, other than the common stereotype of Dwarves. So. Yeah. Sorry Nate. Though I do imagine him keeping his shirt as if it was something his late wife embroiderd for him and now it's too sentimental to get rid of so it's got patches holding it together.

Delacy, the idea of this relatively human party having a child half orc running around with them felt apt but also the level of humor of oxventure. Also Delacy being an unusually strong child also very good. I can imagine him being a fighter or some combat specific class.

If anyone has any better ideas, hit me up I'm not 100% on all of these, so please add your own to them.
