Welcoming a New Hero to The Fold

Thedas is brought to life through your Warden, Hawke, and Inquisitor’s stories, and I’m sad to see that the rich narrative crafted through the previous three installations is being cast aside. I know Hawke canonically has their Kaddis (red mark across their nose) in Ferelden but I like to believe that once Hawke gets to Kirkwall, some people treat them better than other Fereldan refugees because their mother is (was?) a Kirkwall noble and thus technically aren’t “real” refugees (or are considered ““one of the good ones””), and that makes Hawke start wearing the Kaddis- what is traditionally war paint for mabaris- as a way to say fuck that and show their Fereldan pride.

there is something to be said about the fact that sten invites the warden with him to par vollen when the warden leaving right after the blight would be a neglection of their duties– and duty is something sten holds very sacred. the warden's job is not done at the end of the blight, especially if alistair was killed or made king. someone has to rebuild the wardens and deal with the lingering darkspawn. and still, sten offers the warden a way out. a way to relieve themself of that duty and choose a new path, which is something he previously was pretty adamantly against.

Ohhh tabris who takes vaughan's bribe and then romances alistair and he sacrifices his life for her is sooo good it made me insane a little. Imagine seeking redemption through death for something truly awful you've done but not only redemption is denied to you and you have to keep living with what you're done. But also the person who sacrificed his life for you is your best friend and your lover and the kindest sweetest person you've ever met and you know! For a fact! That you did not deserve such sacrifice in your name. The guilt. And you have to keep living! No choice but to keep living!

gonna add "when they scrapped the architect involvemet in here lies the abyss they changed little else about the plot" to my tinfoil theories because frankly the architect being the mastermind behind the wardens wanting to find and kill the old gods with a demon army fits far more given we, omnisciently, know his actual plan is to blight the entire world so using the guise of "finding to slay" is much more solid as a story and reveal of the truth, not to mention makes exiling the wardens or keeping them more compelling given the deeper involvement of them with one of the magisters sidereel vs just some guy from tevinter

KENDALL: right. but you can convince them to pitch in a little. i don't need a lot from any one person. i need a little from everybody. we're all fucked if the breach doesn't get closed.

STEWY: and you can close the breach?

KENDALL: if you help me, yes.

STEWY: if i'm going to start calling in favors to get you an army, ken, i need to know there's a plan.

KENDALL: it's—i have—i'm working on it. i have what i need to make a plan. my advisors are the best in the fucking business, the templars—
